Bad Teacher

Elizabeth Halsey (Cameron Diaz ) is a Chicago middle school teacher at the fictional John Adams Middle School who curses at her students , consumes lots of alcohol, smokes marijuana, and only shows movies while she sleeps through class . She plans to quit teaching and marry her wealthy fiancé, but when he dumps her, she must resume her job as a teacher. She tries to win over substitute teacher Scott Delacorte (Justin Timberlake), who is also wealthy. Amy Squirrel (Lucy Punch ), a dedicated teacher and colleague of Elizabeth, also pursues Scott while the school's gym teacher, Russell Gettis (Jason Segel), makes advances on Elizabeth which she rejects.[3]
Elizabeth plans to get surgery to enlarge her breasts, believing she is being overlooked for women with larger chests. However , she cannot afford the $10,000 procedure. To make matters worse, Scott admits that he has a crush on Amy, only viewing Elizabeth as a friend . Elizabeth attempts to raise money for the surgery by participating in her 7th grade class car wash in provocative clothing and by manipulating parents to give her money for more school supplies and tutoring, but her efforts are not enough. Amy, acting on the growing resentment between them due to her pursuit of Scott and ignoring of school rules , attempts to warn the principal about Elizabeth's embezzlement scheme, but he dismisses her claims as groundless.
Elizabeth later learns that the teacher of the class with the highest state test scores will receive a $5,700 bonus. With this knowledge , Elizabeth decides to change her style of teaching, forcing the class to study intensely for the upcoming test. However, the change is not enough and the students have low scores on their quizzes, frustrating her even more. Meanwhile , she befriends Russell the gym teacher as Amy and Scott start dating. Elizabeth steals the state test answers by impersonating a journalist and seducing Carl Halabi ( Thomas Lennon ), who is in charge of the exam . Elizabeth drugs Carl in his office, and steals the test. A month later, Elizabeth wins the bonus and pays for the appointment to get her breasts enlarged.
When Elizabeth learns that Amy and Scott are chaperoning an upcoming field trip, she taints an apple with poison ivy and leaves it for Amy. Amy ends up with blisters covering her face and backs out of the trip. On the trip, Elizabeth seduces Scott. They engage in non-penetrative sex, and Elizabeth secretly calls Amy to ensure she knows. However, Scott's peculiar behavior starts annoying Elizabeth. Elizabeth later gives advice to one of her students (Matthew J. Evans ) who has an unrequited crush on a superficial girl in class, which causes her to reflect on how she has been superficial as well.
After hearing Elizabeth and Scott having sex, Amy switches Elizabeth's desk with her own to trick the janitor into unlocking Elizabeth's sealed drawer. The evidence Amy finds leads her to suspect Elizabeth cheated on the state exam. Amy informs the principal and gets Carl to testify against her. However, Elizabeth took embarrassing photos of Carl while he was drugged and uses them to blackmail him to say she is innocent . Having noticed her desk was switched , Elizabeth informs the principal that some teachers in the school are doing drugs. When the police bring a sniffer dog to search the school, they find drugs in Amy's classroom , in Elizabeth's desk. Amy is moved to another school by the superintendent . Scott asks Elizabeth to start over, but Elizabeth rejects him in favor of a relationship with Russell.
When the new school year starts, Elizabeth is kinder to her co- workers , has started a relationship with Russell, and did not get the breast enlargement because she feels that she looks fine the way she is. Elizabeth also has a new position in the school as the new guidance counselor.
Inception
A maze.  A trap. An enigma wrapped inside an enigma.  Call Inception what you will, but overall it’s a mind blowing cinematic experience .  Written and directed by Christopher Nolan , this visually stunning film takes us on a journey through the dream scape.  It’s difficult to describe .  It’s a heist movie.  It’s a love story. It’s a psychological thriller like no other before it.
Leonardo DiCaprio plays Dom Cobb .  Dom is a professional extractor, paid to invade people’s subconscious and steal information that lays nuzzled in their psyche .  His team consists of the point man Arthur (Joseph Gordon -Levitt), the architect Ariadne ( Ellen Page), and the forger Eames (Tom Hardy ).  They are hired by Mr. Saito (Ken Watanabe) to infiltrate Robert Fischer’s (Cillian Murphy) head to peform an inception – to create and plant an idea in his mind.  The problem is that memories of Dom’s mysterious wife Mal ( Marion Cotillard) and children keep invading his dreams, and won’t let him accomplish the job without  constantly throwing him off  taskThese haunting demons  fill Cobb’s head, and he just wants to find his way back to reality to be reunited with his children once again .  That’s all I’ll reveal about the plot because to attempt to summarize it in more detail, would not only be an exercise in futility, but I also don’t want to ruin the fun for anyone .
Inception is so wisely crafted across the board .  The cast does an amazing job.  DiCaprio has no doubt become the # 1 pure movie star working today .  He brings so much intensity to his performances, and Inception is one of his best .   The rest of the players fall into place perfectly, especially Gordon-Levitt and Hardy whose breakthrough supporting roles are vital to making this mind bending locomotive go and they give some nice laughs along the way to give your brain a breather from the intricate psychological pinball.  Several scenes involve jaw dropping special effects that leave you wanting to see them again.  Including a train barrelling down a busy city street , and then in probably the most stunning – Gordon-Levitt’s Arthur does battle in an anti gravity hotel hall way spinning, flying, and running sideways down the wall . After the amazing achievement of Nolan’s super hero epic The Dark Knight, the bar was set high for whatever project he decided to unveil as his follow up, and what Nolan has done with Inception has even raised the bar higher .  The picture perfect cast, the ground -breaking visuals, the classic score by Hans Zimmer , and the confidence of Nolan as a master storyteller make Inception not only the best film of the year so far, but what may be a celebrated film for years and years to come .  Hats off to Nolan for daring to dream bigger, and delivering a masterpiece.

Punane elavhõbe

"Punane Elavhõbe" (red mercury in English ) was announced as an Estonian historic crime movie about mafia and underground brutality in the 90's.
The main characters were three thugs who weren't special at all, mainly only stealing car stereos etc. They heard that they could get rich when they would buy red mercury in Russia and then sell it with a higher price . So they took their way to Russia and one of them, Korba, would beat kill anyone who had something to do with them like taxi drivers. Estonian police had an eye over them and later they all got caught in Estonia. They also learned that Russians bluffed and red mercury didn't actually exist.
So what was positive ? Storyline was mostly OK. Also most objects came from the early 90's so the atmosphere was pretty good in terms of timing although some mistakes were made. And Kristjan Sarv definitely did the best acting in this movie when playing a brutal thug who didn't care about human lives .
What was negative ? First of all I expected real mafia being in the center movie. But the key characters were nothing but a punch of stupid thugs who wanted to get rich. Secondly the cops were weak . Specially the commander, Buldooser, played by Peeter Oja. He was supposed to be a though guy but his yelling made him look not so though at all. Also police work and investigating wasn't believable at all. Thirdly the Estonian and Russian languages mix up got so annoying. If one talked in Estonian then he received answer in Russian. At the beginning the solution seemed OK, but it really started to freak out in the end.
Actually there was more negative in the film, but it would take a whole day to write this down. It was a huge disappointment. Definitely worth skipping. My conclusion is that it should have shown more Estonian life back then and how was the mafia organized. But half of the action was filmed in Russia so it didn't meet expectations at all.
Movie: Shutter Island
Starring: Leonardo DiCaprio, Ben Kingsley & Mark Ruffalo
Director: Martin Scorsese
It's not often that a movie comes along that so perfectly defines it's genre like Shutter Island. A stark and haunting mix of mystery , suspense and psychological thriller. Every scene containing subtle and meticulous clues that unravel before your eyes . This review is spoiler free for those who have not seen this film yet and so may not contain some plot points .  Set in 1954 US Marshall Teddy Daniels (Leonardo DiCaprio) accepts the case of a missing woman who has escaped from a mental institute for the criminally insane. He is assigned a new partner Chuck Aule (Mark Ruffalo). Teddy though has another reason for accepting the case, to find a man he believes killed his wife. He is haunted by images of his past atrocities committed in World War II and by  visions of his dead wife. As he investigates he becomes more and more sure that there is something sinister being kept secret on the island and more afraid that he may never escape. That probably doesn't really do the plot justice but I'm afraid if I say to much I'll give away the ending .
The way that Scorsese has crafted this film is really remarkable. The scenes are layered in a way where you never really know the true motivations behind many of the characters. A mystery in the truest sense of the word. The acting is top notch as well which just lends more to the mystery. DiCaprio is great as Teddy Daniels a man desperate to find the truth about the island. Even as he becomes more paranoid and distrustful you always feel as if you identify with him and want him to succeed. Another great performance is given by Ben Kingsley as the head psychiatrist Dr. John Cawley he has a calm demeanor but seems reluctant to help in the investigation. You are never quite sure what his intentions are or what he could be hiding.
The setting and score simply add to the mysterious and dark tone of the film. The other inmates insanity gives credibility to the notion that maybe just maybe insanity is contagious. Without giving away the ending I will say this is the kind of movie that as soon as it has concluded you'll want to watch again to see what you could have missed. With an ending that is at once shocking and yet comes to feel like the only possible ending there ever could have been. This movie will have you on the edge of your seat as you try to put together all the pieces of the puzzle . Things never seem to quite add up and you never know just who is trustworthy and who is not until the very end.
If you like psychological thrillers or just movies in general then you owe it to yourself to see this film. Finely crafted with an for eye for detail that really pays off in the end. The tone and setting are perfect and the ending is shocking to say the least .

Pride and Prejudice Book report

Jane Austen "Pride & Prejudice" Pride and Prejudice, first published on 28 January 1813, has consistently been Jane Austen's most popular novel. Austen sold the copyright for Pride and Prejudice to Thomas Egerton. Egerton published the first edition of Pride and Prejudice in three hardcover volumes in January. The tone is light and a little humoristic. Pride and Prejudice is a humorous story of love and life among English gentility. At first the book was called "First impressions" and this gives a better expression to the requests of the author, than the later heading. People meet, do not understand each other and communication does not offer joy either. So this is contrary to love at first sight. It is a tale of love and values in the class-conscious England of the late 18th century. It is a story of five sisters and their lives. It is a story through the dangerous, exciting and loving feelings of the characters. The Bennets five daughters - the beautiful Jane, the clever Elizabe

The making of a new nation. The Enlightenment in America. The emergence of the notion of the American Dream. The great Enlighteners: Crèvecoeur, Jefferson, Paine, Franklin. The American Enlightenment is the intellectual thriving period in the United States in the midtolate 18th century (17151789), especially as it relates to American Revolution on the one hand and the European Enlightenment on the other. Influenced by the scientific revolution of the 17th century and the humanist period during the Renaissance, the Enlightenment took scientific reasoning and applied it to human nature, society, and religion. American Enlightenment a gradual but powerful awakening that established the ideals of democracy, liberty, and religious tolerance in the people of America. If there were just one development that directly caused the American Revolution and uplifted the intellectual culture of the continent while it was only a British colony, it would be the American Enlightenment.
