The family who turned back the clock.

Of course, there are all the usual appliances we all take for granted, such as the washing machine, tumble drier, dishwasher, deep freeze, microwave oven, and video recorder, but they also have an electric trouser press, two power showers, an Olympic-sized spa bath and jacuzzi, three cars, and a music system which plays throughout the whole house. The experiment. What happens if all the props of modern living are removed? To help us find out, we asked the Joneses to turn back the clock fifty years and to switch off all their labour-saving gadgets and push-button entertainment for three days. We also wanted them to stop using their cars. The family, comprising Malcolm, 48, Carol, 43, and their four children Emma, 17, Richard, 14, Tamsin, 9, and Tom, 7, were not enthusiastic, but everyone, except for Emma, agreed to try. Phonetics Glossary Homework

Oxford Dictionaries. Available at http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/diphthong, accessed January 19, 2016. FRONT/BACK VOWELS Vowels may be classified as either rounded or unrounded, as either lax or tense, and as either long or short. A vibration is felt in the oral cavity when a vowel is articulated. If this vibration is felt toward the front of the cavity, say in the area of the alveolar ridge, the vowel is described as a front vowel. If the vibration is felt toward the back of the cavity, say in the area of the velum, the vowel is described as a back vowel. This distinction can be appreciated by successively articulating "ho-ho, hee-hee, ho-ho, hee-hee," and paying attention to where the vibration is felt most strongly in the oral cavity. The phoneme spelled o in ho is a back vowel, and the phoneme spelled ee in hee is a front vowel. An event in my childhood

My childhood story Whenever I think about my childhood, one story comes to my mind. A story I am proud of. It’s about how I helped my one year older brother when he got stung by a bee. It’s not just an ordinary story because my brother, back then, was allergic to bees. And because of that I may have saved his life. It all began on a sunny summer day at my grandfather’s country home. We had a dog back then and he had his own fenced garden with a doghouse in it. Me and my brother were just fooling around outside doing funny stuff. At some point he decided to go let the dog out. The poles that were holding the fence up were holo inside and the bees thought that it was a great place to make a hive in. I can’t remeber why, but my brother for some reason leaned over the fence pole and looked into it. That’s when my brother got stung near to his eyes. He immediately

their lives. The Navajo rugs are in demand by the many tourists and collectors who visit the reservation each year. Two predominant colors in the Navajo weaving designs are indigo blue and red. Other colors often used are greys, shades of browns, yellows and golds. Navajo rugs are one of the most popular crafts, not only for a floor rug but to hang as a wall tapestry. Silversmithing Silversmithing is an important art form among Navajo. Silversmithing dates back to the 1800s when Navajo artists began melting silver coins to make jewelry. By the 1890s, Navajo silversmiths had begun setting turquoise into their jewelry. Navajo smiths began adding large chunks of stones, usually turquoise, to the silver in unique designs. Over time, they developed tools and techniques to stamp or engrave the metal. Today, Navajo jewelry is well known and highly valued by both Native and non-Native Americans. It remains a distinctive feature of Navajo history and culture.

These tears leave scar tissue as the muscle heals, which tightens the muscle even further -- making you less flexible and more prone to pain. Focus on a pain-free stretch. Expect to feel tension while you're stretching. If it hurts, you've gone too far. Back off to the point where you don't feel any pain, then hold the stretch. Jää-ajast Inglise keeles!

The ice was probably a mile deep in places. It moved over hills and valleys, rivers and forests. It moved slowly perhaps only a foot a day. Millions of plants were buried by the ice. Many animals moved south. Among the animals able to stand the cold near the edge of the ice were woolly mammoths, woolly rhinoceroses, and caribou. For thousands of years the ice moved southward. But at last the summers grew longer and warmer, and the ice began to melt back. It melted back so that most of North America was out from under it. But again it grew colder and the ice sheets moved southward. Again it grew warmer and they melted back. Twice more the ice moved slowly southward and twice more it melted back. During the great Ice Age much of Europe, too, was covered with ice. On both continents the ice sheets left many calling cards behind them. They made deep scratches in the rock they moved over. They cut tops of hills and widened valleys.

Courage in the Storm

" I asked anxiously. "I was in the toilet and suddenly I felt the house shaking. I called for mummy but nobody was there. I got scared so I crabbed my Teddy and run here, like I am taught to do." "You did good, you were very brave!" I praised her and gave her a comforting hug. I had to find out where my parents were. I taught my sister how to open and close the shelters' hatch and ordered her to stay there and wait for my return. Again, I swallowed the fear and run. I was headed back to the house, when I heard our dog Bingo howling in his kennel. Instantly I was on my way to save him. I took him into my arms and hurried back to the shelter. My sister was so happy to see me and Bingo, but her face changed. "You are going away again, aren't you?" she burst into tears. "I have to find them. Don't worry, I'll be back. Besides, now you have Bingo with you," I tried to comfort her. I winked at her while she was closing the hatch behind me.

Tell them that they probably need time to consider the offer you have made. Use this when: You can see that they are not going to decide now. You have set up enough tension that you are reasonably convinced that they will indeed seriously consider the deal and are likely to come back. Given some more time, it is likely that they will buy more (for example if they are at the edge of a budgetary period and their current funds are low). The relationship is important to you, and them making a wrong decision now would affect the chances of making sales in the future. You do not need to make the sale today (for example you have made your quota and this sale would be just fine for next month).

Summer holidays are too long

homework to do. There is quite little time left for children to keen on their hobbies. Men do all the same things all day and some women stay home and drink coffee, while their kids are in school. Children, unlike adults, don't get paid. Children can be quite difficult to handle. There is the whole class of boys and girl and only one teacher. It is tiring for teachers too. Most children enjoy holidays and teachers need to enjoy them even more to get back to school fresh and rested. Summer holidays need to be long, so everyone could rest and spend time with their kids. If holidays are long enough, then finally children get bored of sitting at home and would want to go back to school. This should be everyone's priority, that children would like to go back to school voluntarily. Karin Torim 12.T

She was sick and dieing and she said: ''I know you are helpful. So I ask you, could you go Far Far Away and bring me green flowers? These flowers could help me to heal.'' Cassy agreed and said: ''I pack my suitcase tomorrow morning.'' Then she went to Sebastian and told him: ''I'm going to leave tomorrow morning and will be back after a week.'' She laid aside her sewing, stood up, and went forward to kiss him as he came in. "Hullo darling," she said. "Hullo darling," he answered. She took his coat and hung it in the closer. Then she walked over and made the drinks, a strongish one for him, a weak one for herself; and soon she was back again in her chair with the sewing, and he in the other, opposite, holding the tall glass with both hands, rocking it so the ice cubes tinkled against the side. For her, this was always a blissful time of day. She knew he didn't want to speak much until the first drink was finished, and she, on her side, was content to sit quietly, enjoying his company after the long hours alone in the house. She loved to luxuriate in the presence of this man, and to feel -

English story "Fatal Walk"

It was a warm and cloudless Friday evening in summer but Angelina didn't want to go to a party. She went for a walk at a park. She had a great evening and she enjoyed all this incredible nature in the park. Angelina was glad that she hadn't gone to party because she felt herself so relaxed. There were a few people in the park, birds were singing and not so warm evening sun was still shining. I felt a little bit chilly myself and it was getting darker too so I decided to go back home. My way back wasn't very pleasurable. I had always been afraid of those dark unlit side- streets but that walk had been good for me so I wasn't afraid that time. But then I heard screaming from one street. I didn't dare to go there but I peeked around the corner and I saw two men fighting with each other. One man had a gun and he was wearing a black mask. The other man was a typical businessman. I didn't hear what they were talking
