study on Larkin) is renamed as “Philip Larkin and Symbolism”. In the same book, Seamus Heaney also points out that “there is something Yeatsian in the way that Larkin, in High Windows, places his sun poem immediately opposite and in answer to his moon poem”. In Barbara Everett’s study (“Philip Larkin: After Symbolism”) one finds ample evidence for the influence of French symbolism upon Larkin.

Why I came to study English essay

Some of my friends have even said that majoring in English seems so boring and they constantly bombard me with questions about my future. That made me think about how exactly did I end up studying English? First of all, as a kid, I was so sure I would be a hairdresser or a teacher or a cook in the future. I am sure that almost every kid thinks the same, when all they have for inspiration are cartoons and toys to play with. When I started school, I was very interested in mathematics and other subjects that required logical thinking, because apparently I was smart in that area at the time. Up until 6th grade I was the best student in our class, winning mathematic competitions left and right and not only that. By that time I had also found out that I loved to write, specially poems and I used every opportunity to submit my...

Study the past, if you would divine the future

We all make mistakes and have our ups and downs. That's the part of living. Having a great life is possible when you are not afraid of making mistakes. The more mistakes you make in the past, the less mistakes you will make in the future. You can easily divine your future when you study things from your past and mistakes. On the other hand, you can't always learn from your past. When your past is full of boringness and dullness, then there isn't much to learn. And also, it is not always good to learn from the past. Because sometimes you look back on your past and make te same mistakes because you don't know what was right and what was wrong. In conclusion, learning from the past can be very good and divining. It depends on person's past and the ability of learning from the past because some people will make the same mistakes all...

Intelligence and psychopathy: a correlational study on insane female offenders.

C. SPIRONELLI, C. SEGRÈ, L, STEGAGNO ja L. ANGRILLI Spironelli, C., Segré, D., Stegagno, L., Angrilli, A. (2014). Intelligence and psychopathy: a correlational study on insane female offenders. Psychological Medicine, 44 (01), 111-116.

Having a job while studying

Having a job while studying Siin on minu nimi; 11klass Siin on kool, 30.05.2012 Many students nowadays prefer to have a job while studying or the other way around study while having a job. All that, just to support their hobbies/studies, gain experience or just to earn a bit more money. While there are many benefits, there is no good without the bad. Having a job especially while you are studying is great responsibility for a human being. It is difficult to keep both your job and studies up. Although there are good points, like earning money to support yourself, gaining work or life experience, learning more about how the world works something, that schools usually do not teach. Being practical with your time comes in handy whi...

To Be Human Is To Discuss

Usually they are just fine, but the grass is always greener somewhere else, am I right? But for me and my class, it's a different story. The grass really is greener anywhere else, actually. Why do we go to school? Do we actually want to learn? I think not. Maybe on some level, until fourth grade or something like that, but most of us are in high school to get good grades, so that parents don't kick us out and still give us food and shelter. How to motivate ourselves to come here every single morning and really study , not just sit with your phone out and watch videos or do something not related to studying to keep from dying of boredom? I think that the main reason students skip class is that they just don't want to sit around for 45 minutes. Another reason, I know that from my own experience, is undone homework. We don't want to get bad grades and we choose not to show up. Maybe it's better not to give homework, like they do in Finland. Yesterday, I had 9 lessons. I got home at 5 o'clock and my mom was already home. When I walked in the door, she asked: ,,Wow, how did you get home so early, weren't you supposed to have lessons til 6?" And I actually was supposed to have lessons until 6, but the teacher was also tired from that exhausting day and let us go early. Even then, my mom got home from work an hour before me and we left home at the same time. Then I grabbed a bite and quickly started studying, because there was so much homewo...

Letter of application for a language course

I love studying in English, hence, I would like to attend a university, where all the courses are taught in English. Therefore I would like to attend this university because of the English-speaking environment. I feel that this is an amazing opportunity which will surely turn out to be an enriching experience for me. I have great expectations from studying abroad because of the element of internationalism. I think that a larger view on the world could give the chance to be more productive in my whole life. Living abroad could give the chance to prepare better for my future career. About the fact that I would have to stay far from home, I do not feel that it would be much of a problem because I have the ability to adapt to various situations. I also have experience with living abroad- I was an exchange student in the Netherlands for a...

Kvalitatiivne uurimustöö Emotsioonide regulatsioon ja stress

1 Emotion regulation in relation to physiological stress response. University Name Research Project Module Code: xx 2007-2008 Supervised by xxx Word count: 7261 Emotion regulation in relation.. 2 Abstract The aim of this study was to investigate the association between psychological and the biological stress response. It is known that humans, interacting with each other or their environment, have emotional reactions that are individually regulated. These emotional responses are linked to changes in autonomic and neuroendocrine systems, which are essential for metabolic support when preparing the body for action. Since emotion can influence such important processes like learning, decision-making, memory and consequently health and welfare of the individual then dysfunctional regulation of emotions can lead to psychopathology. A total of 26 healthy, non smoking male participants, age group 18-42 years were recruited into the study. Based on the theory of Cybernetic 3-Dimensional Model on Emotion Regulation (CMER), three dimensions of emotion regulation was measured. Participants were stressed using the TSST test, and the salivary cortisol and p...

Education

Education: Some people say that students should study only those subjects they are interested in Im going to discuss if students should study only those subjects they are interested in or not. Nowadays students are quite lazy and do not want to study or go to school. They think it is boring and parents work really hard to make them study. Also, a lot of students think that the majority of the subjects they are learning are pointless. But actually none of those are pointless and every thing has a reason. In addition to that, if students could choose the subjects themselves, then some classes would be really empty. For example, a lot of students do not like maths or reading. Math develops logic and then we could imagine how many people would be without logical thinking. And reading books enriches vocabulary, so if people do not read books at all, their vocabulary would be quite small. On the other hand, learning different things like history and b...

Ökosüsteemi teenused

Lapimaa metsa juhtumiuuring Soomes Sissejuhatus Ökosüsteemi teenuste(ecosystem services)(ÖT) kontseptsioon on teaduslikus metoodikas suhteliselt uus, pakkudes võimalikku lähenemist inimtegevuse tagajärjel toimunud ökoloogilistele probleemidele ning lahenduseks maakasutusega seotud probleemidele. ÜRO poolt toetatud Milleniumi Ökosüsteemi Hinnangu (2005)(Millenium Ecosystem Assessment) kohaselt on praeguseks 60% maailma ÖTdest kahjustunud. ÖTde lähenemine ühendab erinevad paradigmad ning uurimistraditsioonid sotsiaal-, majandus- ning keskkonnateadustest. Ökosüsteemide haldamine on tavalis...

English structure revision for the exam

Terms Language → A systematic, conventional (tavakohane) use of sounds, signs or written symbols in a human society for communication and self-expression. Human language at all levels is rule- or principle- governed (valitsema) meaning that language corresponds to the grammar. Natural language is usually spoken, while language can also be encoded into symbols (such as letters, morse etc) For example: Estonian, English. Linguistics → The scientific study of human natural language. Broadly, there are three aspects to the study which are  Pragmatics (studies the use of language → interested in the gap between the sentence’s meaning and the speaker’s meaning).  Semantics (concerned with the meaning of the language aspects and the way they change, also how objects and language and thinking and language are related).  Syntax (concerned with the rules [grammar] and how sentences and words are formed). Synchronic approach to language → A focus in language study on how language exists in one moment in time, not at how this language came to be the way it is now. Example Estonian in the 21st century. Diachronic approach to language → A focus in language study on how a language has changed over some period of time. In a way it is comparing language to what it was and how it is now. For example comparing 18th ce...
