and there always happens many adventures like when Harry made up his mind that he must find the Chamber of Secrets, it took long time for him , but finally he did it. Another thing I really loved about that book were the characters , they were so believable and friendly to each other. All the adventures seemed to be real and it made the story more exciting and interesting . I reccomend that book to all my classmates who like magic and all kind of curses , because it was quite interesting and included many facts about witches and wizards. Thank you for listening

The picture of Dorian Gray

Over the course of the day, Henry manages to totally change Dorian's perspective on the world. From that point on, Dorian's previously innocent point of view is dramatically different--he begins to see life as Lord Henry does as a succession of pleasures in which questions of good and evil are irrelevant. Henry tolds Dorian that youth and beauty is most important things in life. Dorian wishes he could trade his soul to stay as young as he looks in the portrait. Dorian curses his portrait. Basil finishes his portrait of Dorian, and gives it to the young man, who keeps it in his home, where he can admire his own beauty. Lord Henry continues to exert his influence over Dorian, he grows more and more distant from Basil. Dorian and develops his own interests and proposes to live a life dedicated to the pursuit of pleasure. He falls in love with Sibyl Vane, a young actress who performs in a theater in London's slums

very strong, the description of the dead-silent sea is no longer lovely and relaxing, but vice versa, very disturbing. The complete darkness also has a part in it, of course. The sailors, obviously, do not hear the Bell (as it is in the bottom of the ocean). The current is very strong and it carries the floating ship with it. Then, suddenly the ship hits a rock and the understand they have found the Inchcape Rock. As the ship is sinking, Sir Ralph the Rover curses himself for removing the Bell from it's rightful position. "But even in his dying fear / One dreadful sound could the Rover hear, / A sound as if with the Inchcape Bell, / The Devil below was ringing his knell." The last stanza is written in a very powerful way. It says that at his dying hour, the Rover finally understands that he himself had signed his death sentence by removing the bell. The poem is filled with romanticist images and is quite literally understandable

And having answered so I turn once more to those who sneer at this my city, and I give them back the sneer and say to them: Come and show me another city with lifted head singing so proud to be alive and coarse and strong and cunning. · A person was caught in the act of positive or negative sorcery · A well-meaning sorcerer or healer lost their clients' or the authorities' trust · A person did nothing more than gain the enmity of their neighbours · A person was reputed to be a witch and surrounded with an aura of witch-beliefs Éva Pócs in turn identifies three varieties of witch in popular belief: · The "neighbourhood witch" or "social witch": a witch who curses a neighbour following some conflict. · The "magical" or "sorcerer" witch: either a professional healer, sorcerer, seer or midwife, or a person who has through magic increased her fortune to the perceived detriment of a neighbouring household; due to neighbourly or community rivalries and the ambiguity between positive and negative magic, such individuals can become labelled as witches.

as the one they call Good Cop/Bad Cop. Good Cop/Bad Cop works as follows: A young robbery suspect, for example, who has been advised of his rights and is maintaining his innocence, is brought to a room to be questioned by a pair of officers. One of the officers, either because the part suits him or because it is merely his turn, plays the role of Bad Cop. Before the suspect even sits down, Bad Cop curses "the-son-of-a-bitch" for the robbery. For the rest of the session his words come only with snarls and growls. He kicks the pris- oner's chair to emphasize his points. When he looks at the suspect, he seems to see a mound of garbage. If the suspect challenges Bad Cop's accusations or just refuses to answer them, Bad Cop becomes livid. His rage soars. He swears he will do every- thing possible to assure a maximum sentence. He says he has friends in the district

even today—the conviction in the minds of many people that cryptology is a black art, a form of occultism whose practitioner must, in William F. Friedman's apt phrase, "perforce commune daily with dark spirits to accomplish his feats of mental jiu-jitsu." In part it is a kind of guilt by association. From the early days of its existence, cryptology had served to obscure critical portions of writings dealing with the potent subject of magic—divinations, spells, curses, whatever conferred supernatural powers on its sorcerers. Another important factor was the confusion of cryptology with the Jewish kabbalah. But, important as all these were, the view that cryptology is black magic in itself springs ultimately from a superficial resemblance between cryptology and divination. Extracting an intelligible message from ciphertext seemed to be exactly the same thing as obtaining knowledge by examining the flight of birds, the location of stars and planets, the
