Two very different towns of Estonia

Two very different towns of Estonia I would like to write about two very different towns of Estonia. One is Paide and the second is Tallinn. These cities for most people, would be quite incomparable, but if you really are interested in Estonian culture, then you most certainly have to visit them both. Paide most often described as the center of Estonia, is one of the most historic cities in Estonia as its first mentioned in the writings as early as 1265, also it was one of the first cities in Estonia to receive ,,city" title as early as 1295.. Many would say that the city, now, is rather an rundown than an touristy city, but I most certainly believe that maybe

Are student organizations beneficial for students?

Are student organizations beneficial for students? This essay will deal with the following aspects of the question „Are student organizations beneficial for students?“. It is noticeable that student organizations are quite popular subject right now. Topical issue is that there may be different opinion about how beneficial student organizations for students really are. Student organizations usefulness could be disputable, beacause there are always postive and negative side to everything. One the one hand it appears that some students might support and think that student organizations are really advantageous for them and others do not support that idea. For

What are the Estonians like?

What are the Estonians like? Estonia is a very small country, therefore its population is quite small. We, Estonians, are very friendly and care about each other. When our country is going through rough times , we stick together and try to go through them as one . There aren't many riots in our country, because we aren't violent people. We like to stay quiet, so only a few of us have the courage to say their opinion out loud. Estonians have quite good manners. We say hi to each other and we often say sorry, even if our acts aren't so bad. There are also many gentlemen in Estonia, who open doors for women and make a lot of compliments. I really like that, because one opened door or one little compliment can make your mood for the entire day. Our country has four seasons and every season changes our mood. In summer and winter Estonians are very happy, but in autumn, when the weather is rainy, foggy and afternoons are

Brexit (inglise keelne)

From 28 to 27. What is the long-term consequence of the UK leaving the European Union? There is no question that the United Kingdom leaving the European Union or Brexit as we all know it, is a big hit for the EU and the UK. It’s by no means an easy process and a lot of people are against it, but today nothing can be done to stop it. Even though Brexit is seen by its leaders as a positive change, it will also have quite a negative effect on Britain and play a big role in reshaping European Union. Most British people were voting for Brexit to regain sovereignty, to ‘take back control’ and regulate their laws. At first glance, it may seem that they would be in charge of their actions which would mean that nobody on the outside can manipulate them. Although nowadays countries depend on each other a lot and the UK is no exception. Everything is more connected

Teacher's questions FAMILY, HOME AND EVERYDAY LIFE 1. What colours do you like? Why? I like many colours. Coloured things are more interesting than monochrome things. But I have got my favourite colour. My favourite colour is pink. I like yellow and orange too. These colours are quite womanly. I don't like dark colours. Dark colours are too dark for me. 2. What do you think of the colour scheme of your school? I think that my school is beautiful. My school has got quite good look. In the outside the school is light. But in the inside the schoolrooms are quite colourful. I don't like the gym colour scheme. I think that pink and blue are not very good choice. I think that it's quite funny. But other rooms are in normal colours. 3

My local supermarket

My local supermarket I will be telling you about my local supermarket. It is about 1 kilometre from my house. Its name is Jannsen and it was named after the Estonian journalist Johann Voldemar Jannsen. I actually have quite many supermarkets around me but I chose this one because I feel like it has more of a story than the others. When you get to the building and have a look at it, you would definitely think that it needs renovation and it is definitely quite old and is from the Soviet times. It is actually really colourful, compared to most supermarkets, therefore it attracts all kinds of children from the area. It has a huge variety of materials in the shop, starting from fruit and vegetables and ending with toys, clothes and even cooking meals. Sadly, the fact that it is old, makes it quite enjoyable for the alcoholics to be around the area. It has three checkout counters where you can buy your groceries. The

Our Man in Havana Book R

Book Report Graham Greene ,, Our Man in Havana" Liis Mägi, 12c I chose a book by Graham Greene titled ,,Our man in Havana". The reason why I decided to read exactly this book was that I found the plot introductory quite interesting and as I started reading I realised I was right. I found it quite humorous book, written in the third person and set in Havana, Cuba. The story is quite easy to follow. The novel was written right before the American embargo and the Cuba missile crisis of the 1960's, so the author was quite surely influenced by the political events at that time and created his own vision of the future. The main character of this book is Jim Wormlod, who is a vacuum cleaner salesman, but is offered a job in the British secret service by Hawthorne. He has to spy on Cuba for England. Jim lives with his daughter Milly, because his wife had left them for

Tourism report

There are very many positive things connected with that city: · Tallinn has a very special old town that you cannot find in any other countries. It has middle age architecture combined with little modern one. · Kadriorg palace ensemble is beautiful place, especially in Spirng when teh nature is ,,waking up". · Tallinn also has big shopping centres where you can take a cup of good quality coffee in some nice cafes. · Local people are quite helpful, so you can ask the way to somewhere wth no problems. But also there are some bad things, like: Restaurantes are quite expensive. In shopping centres there are some well-known brands that are more expenisve than in other european countries. Street crime is quite frequent especially in old town where pickpockets are ,,hunting" tourists. For conclusion i'd recommend to come in Tallinn. Police catches more and more thiefs with every day

Attraction of blogs People have always loved to share their thoughts. It is very common that people write those thoughts down, usually into their secret diaries. Nowadays individuals write public blogs, which using has grown quite popular. In my opinion, blogs have become more fashionable than keeping private diaries, because they are public. Everyone has access and a chance to read your own personal views. We live in a modern world, where information is crucial and selling, therefore keeping a blog on the Internet is a big attraction for readers. Furthermore, there are all kinds of journals on the web, for example food sites, where people can find many recipes for different meals. Also, fashion blogs, which can give

Character sketch Georgie, Sasha

Anthony Birgess – A Clockwork Orange I am going to talk about a character from the book „A Clockwork Orange“ written by Anthony Birgess. First of all Georgie was a memember of the protagonist’s Alex’s gang. The gang had three memember who were teenage criminals: Dim, Pete and Georgie. They robbed people, beat men and raped women. Georgie was extremely ambitious, agressive, determined, earnest and energetic. But also he was quite quiet and did things as his friends did. He quite often didn’t have his own opinion in anything. But on the otherhand he was the one lead the rebellion against Alex. When Alex got out of the jail the last time all of his friends, rivals and also his victims turned against him. Georgie was interesten in violence for the sake of financial gain, unlike Alex, who was interested in violence just for the pure sake of violence. Georgie wanted to be wealthy unlike

Estonians: What we’re really like

Estonians: What we're really like In my opinion Estonians are quite serious, we work hard and we're well-educated. We love to travel and a lot of people have a job or go to school somewhere outside Estonia. Ernest Hemingway once said that at least one Estonian can be found in every part of the world. Many of us have emigrated to the US, Canada or Australia. Some of them came back after the restauration of the independence in 1991. Estonia is a quite young country with painful history but I think we've been strong and kept our heads up. We may have a little country but it doesn't mean that the people are small too. The Estonians are more self-confident than you can ever imagine. We have many talented people, especially athletes like Markko Märtin, Marko Asmer, Kaia Kanepi, Andrus Veerpalu and Mart Poom. We love sports and working out is a part of our lives, that's why you don't see almost any overweight people in the streets.

Story about English Humor

Story about English humor At first, I have to say that English humor is very frightening and quite shocking for us, Estonians. But if to talk about British people and their humor then for them, it's more than everyday life. It is something they are use to see and hear every day, day after another. They do not take it that serious as the other nationalities would and they are definitely the best laughers at themselves. The brightest memory I have from those two videos is that guy in the wheelchair. Unbelievable how selfish and rude they are! And no-one can do anything about that.

But your interest about machinery and computer are not so thrilling for me. So now I am going to tell you about my hobbies. I have quite a lot of hobbies, they can be related together as sports. I am into lots of sport activities like cycling, rollerskating, running, swimming and dancing. I like playing foot-, basket- and volleyball. I have been to tennis courses when I was little. I played basketball for about two years and our team was quite successful. I have also been to track and field training, but only for a year. I attended dancing also a year and then made a pause and now I take up dance lessons again

Day 2 Narva · On day 2, I would visit Narva and look at the castle, which was built in the 14th century by the Danes. The castle is now a museum, so while sight-seeing, a person could also learn about the castle. Across the river is the Ivangorod castle. Day 3 Tartu · I would visit Tartu on day 3. Estonia summer and winter essee

Estonians have two personalities-a summer one and a winter one Estonia is a country in Eastern Europe. It's a small country beside the Baltic Sea. Our neighbours are Finland, Russia, Latvia and Sweden. Estonia's surface area is 45,227 square kilometres. The population of Estonia is around 1,3 million. We have four seasons in Estonia. The air is very humid and it rains quite often, especially in spring and autumn. We usually have long winters and plenty of snow, but sometimes we haven't even had snow. Summers are mostly warm and beautiful in Estonia. In winter our nation is mostly very passive, becouse it is quite cold in outside, we are like bears who sleep in winter, but we still go to school and work even if we are like so tired and don't wanna go out. Our winter is like too long and people are starting to miss summer, sun, beach and ice

Another language that I have learned in school is Russian. I started with it in the sixth grade. Some people say that Russian is Estonian second official language because you can hear russian in every part of estonia. Owing to the fact that I have studied Russian six years in school and I have had quite a lot of practise too, I still could not speak it very well. In Pärnu i trained in gym whrere most of the people were russians so i had some practice but still i am not very good at speaking russian. I have to admit that i do not like russian. Ido not know why but when i really need to speak in russian I do it quite reluctantly. Letter of complaint

Dear Sir or Madam, I am writing to you to express my annoyance at the supreme quality of service that was promised but never delivered. I am talking about the intensive 4-wekk language course provided by you, International Language Centre. First things first the "highly qualified staff" had a terrible sense of time and always arrived late. Not to mention their insufficient language level, which I found quite displeasing. In addition to that, the provided free course materials were in reality just old and used textbooks and the desks were just way too small to work on, and the classes had no heating, which were quite cold in the mornings. Also you advertised small study groups, but the fact that there were over a dozen people in class determined that it was a lie. Now, according to these points that I brought out, I believe I am entitled to a full refund and I expect your full cooperation.

Millennials and Technology

anything you can control without ever having to get up or even leave our rooms. When's the last time someone asked you about something neither of you knew about and you didn't take your phone out to 'google' it? Now think about how many times you've tried to figure out the answer yourself. Sure, both ways may have plenty of attempts but which has succeeded the most the artificial or the real brain? The answer is quite simple, isn't it! Technology has so much to do with today's knowledge. You probably wouldn't know half the things you know now if it weren't for the Internet. Looking at it like that, millennials don't really differ from robots all that much. Some are even more advanced that any of us! Both of us use technology every single day to recieve and process information. Both of us move fast and socialize through the Internet. Everything we get from a robot, such as a phone or a

Top Gear It all started when BBC presented us with an idea. Every one of us had to build a British motorhome of the future, which would be practical but still look cool. Three things the motorhome had to have were sleeping accommodation, cooking facilities and a bog. We met up at Fleet to take a look at each others brilliant come ups before the challanges. As usual I came in with quite an entrance. My motorhome was by far the tallest ever built. It had three stories and looked extremely cool. After walking Hammond through my surperb motorhome I couldn't help but laughing at his. It was a hidious Land Rover which appeared from far to be covered with bricks. The ,,stone effect" was in Richards mind the Land Rover style. It literally had a bog next to the driver's seat. After having a great laugh once more over Hammonds brilliant

I like doing sports and I like to wear sporty clothes, because they are very comfortable. Also, like to wear feminine clothes. My favourite outfit is a leather jacket with blue jeans, a white blouse and black platforms. The leather jacket has white stripes down the sleeves. It is also quite worn-out by now because I have had it for some time now and I tend to wear it throughout the spring and autumn months. In fact it has gotten quite a few little tears where it has got caught on sharp objects. These clothes came from one of those big department stores and not a specialist leather shop. I am a big believer in wearing clothing that makes you feel great. The ideal item of clothing is the one that makes you both look and feel great. My favourite outfit makes me feel gorgeous and

He is also kind and humble because he takes part in many charity events and donates to peaople who are in need. Ronaldo in his free time likes to play tennis, swim and just hang out with his family.

Pride and Prejudice Book Report

They are not from the upper class, and their house in Hartfordshire will be inherited by a distant cousin if Mr. Bennet dies. When the wealthy bachelor Mr. Bingley and his best friend Mr. Darcy arrive in town to spend the summer in a mansion nearby their property, the shy and beautiful Jane falls in love with Mr. Bingley. Lizzie finds Mr. Darcy an arrogant and proud man, and she swears to loathe him forever. This is the beginning of their wonderful love story. My opinion: I found the book quite interesting, not as good as I had expected or hoped, but still something different from the usual books I read. It is a classical love story, how a man and a woman at first loath each other and later on fall in love. But it can be said that it is a quite women- dominating story, as it shows women having power, although little, but still- and how it was uncommon those days to praise women in literature. Women are desperate to find a man to

English in my life People in Estonia basically use two languages. The main language and also our mother tongue is Estonian. Also Russian is a commonly spoken language because almost one-third of the population in Estonia is formed by Russians. Besides those two languages many Estonians are quite good at English. We are visited by many tourists from Finland, Sweden, Latvia and many other countries. Tourists from the Scandinavian countries and from other places of Europe don't speak in Estonian. So it is quite important for us to speak itEnglish an international language. It also goes the other way around when we go traveling somewhere in Europe or even further - then we mainly use English to communicate with people. Over the last 10 years the use of English has grown a lot in Estonia

Article: Estonians

Estonians... Estonia is quite a northern country and therefore Estonians may seem a bit peculiar to ones from south, but don't be scared, they will not eat you (alive). Estonians are quite tranquilly and bottled up people - they might love or hate you and if you're not an expert will not make a difference as they didn't care at all. Rarely tend they to kiss or hug each other unless their beloved ones. So if they nevertheless do it then there's a great chance you're dealing with some non- Estonians. But there's no reason for worrying- if a person is from a region where that kind of over-loving-behaviour is common and he or she

Exchange student

Dear Ingrid, Thank for you letter, you told me that you want to be an exchange student. I would recommend our school to you because we have are lot of friendly students and teachers who are very helpful. Our school year starts on the 1. of September and ends in on the 3. of July. Compared with other European schools our summer holiday is the longest. The winter holiday is 2 weeks long and the spring and autumn holidays are 1 week long. Our average school day is quite long, it starts at 8 o´ clock and ends usually at 3 or 4 o´ clock. We have a break after every 45 minutes for 10 minutes and we have two breaks that are 20 minutes long. During the break we study for the next lesson or just chat with other classmates. I feel very safe in our school, I think everybody is responsible because all of us can contribute in discipline and make our school a better and safer place to learn at. My favorite subject is math because our

Essay - The best things in life are free

The best things in life are free There is a saying that the best things in life are free. It's certainly true that money can't buy you happiness, but can you truly be happy if you don't have any money at all? On one hand, things like food, clothes and having a decent home to live in are quite essential to living a happy and normal life. These are basic needs that humans have, but none of those are free and they all cost money. But, for all that money is useful and good to have around, for all that it can buy, there are quite a few things that it can't buy. Money can't buy you thing like friends and family, love, health, knowledge and intelligence, and the list could go on and on. At the end of the day, these are the things that

Reading a quality or a popular newspaper

papers, tabloids. There are some differences between those two actually really unlike types of newspapers. Firstly, the main difference is in the content. From quality papers people can read about serious topics. This kind of papers contain inportant issues and reflect different political views. Also quality papers have financial and sports news. But from popular papers contain more sensational stories and scandals. Secondly, quite big difference is in the price and the looks between those two papers. Quality papers are printed on large pages, have an undramatic layout and very simple desing. Althoush they look serious their price is not very low. But on the other hand tabloids aim to excite the reader visually, using techniques such as very large headlines and photos. Those newspapers are more cheaper than quality papers. Accordingly, the readerships of those two different newspapers depend on the aforementioned

Favorite family member

I like my sister the most because she knows me the best and she knows when to stay away from me when I need my space, but also when I need someone to talk to then I can just easily talk to her and I can trust her with my secrets. I know when I talk to her about some kind of problems she is always there for me and atleast tries to help me out even when there is nothing to help with. From time to time we fight but have you ever heard of sisters who don't have their differences but we resolve them quite fast that sometimes we even forget why we were fighting at the first place. I like the fact that she doesn't get angry when i borrow something of hers and the same goes vice versa. To be quite frank I adore my sister and sometimes even admire the things she is willing to do for me because sometimes I can really act nasty against her but as I said before we resolve our differences fast and the hate part just fades away. The fact that my sister is

Summer holidays are too long

In summer they can go on vacation with their families and visit all the interesting places. Some kids like water parks and amusement parks, some are interested in museums. They can also visit relatives. Every child wants to play and spend time with friends outside of school, also develop their hobbies. If summer holidays were shorter, they wouldn't have time to do all this. School is hard work. Learning new things all day, and after school there is homework to do. There is quite little time left for children to keen on their hobbies. Men do all the same things all day and some women stay home and drink coffee, while their kids are in school. Children, unlike adults, don't get paid. Children can be quite difficult to handle. There is the whole class of boys and girl and only one teacher. It is tiring for teachers too. Most children enjoy holidays and teachers need to enjoy them even more to get back to school fresh and rested.

My Ideal House - Kirjand

to this, civilization and neighbors are close in case I needed them. My ideal house would be a spacious one. I would like three or four bedrooms, if that would be possible. One of them would be master bedroom, another one would be for guests and the remaining one or two would be nurseries. I would also want my house to have dining room as well as kitchen, a living room, an office and/or library and a pool in the backyard. Generally, the house must be comfortable, if not luxurious, and quite well-maintained. It doesn't have to be fully furnished, as it would be even more exciting to furnish it by myself. However, some basic things like beds, stove and bath should certainly be in their place. As for extras, it would be perfect if the house had a nice lawn in front of it with some bushed shapes, and a little running track somewhere in the plot. I guess that the house that I want would be quite expensive, but I don't mind it, because my

Alice from Through the Looking-Glass

I always want to see more and to do that you also have to be very determined and brave. I wanted to see more from the Looking-Glass world than just the livingroom and after I was offered the chance to become a queen I did not once give up on the long trip to the Eighth Square. Even when I had to enter the wood where things don't have names alone. I was a bit scared but I kept on going! Oh! And that reminds me! I do love my name and I am so glad it came back to me! I'm quite sure that if I had received a new one it would have not fit me at all. Not that I'm trying to praise myself but I think I'm quite kind hearted and polite too. I try not to hurt anyone's feelings and be kind to others. It breaks my heart when I'm told that the Bread-and-Butterflies die if they don't find their weak tea with cream. I wish everybody could just live happily ever after, together in harmoney.

Raamatud vs e-lugerid/tahvelarvutid, raamatu ja tahvelarvuti eripärad (inglise keeles=

Thanks to the invention of the printing press books became more common and accesable for everyday people. After that came the printer but the next big step up was the invention of the e-books and portable screens that could almost outweigh regular books in every aspect possible. But nothing is perfect in this world so naturaly e-books and tablets have their weaknesses, for example, battery life and portability are the main concerns when deciding to rely on them. Regular books are quite rugged, few bumps and bruses aren't going to make it unreadable, but when u drop your tablet then there's a good chance that it will break and you're going to have to pay quite a lot of money to make it usable again. When going camping somewhere where an power outlet isn't nearby then it is almost unpractical to bring along a tablet that needs charging after a few hours. Tablets and e-books main strengh is capacity, it can hold up to a 10 000 books while not changing it's form factor, while 100

The climate in Estonia

15ºC...18ºC and in winter 4ºC...5ºC. Estonian weather offers many surprises. Temperatures may fluctuate by 20ºC. In the early morning the thermometer might read 12ºC and by afternoon it may already be 10ºC. Although it doestn't always snow in winter, there tends to be about 10cm of snow on the ground consistently from late December through to the beginning of March. Often, at the end of October till the end of November, when it is quite cold there already, it hails. Hailstones are almost as big as pin's head. It very often sleets in winter because of too warm temperature. Snow melts before it reaches the ground. Sometimes, in the middle of October, you can see coat of frost on the ground in early morning. This is the sign of that the winter is soon coming. Summers there are quite warm, windy and rainy. According to some passed summers it is now raining more and longer than previous years. As you can see now, winters in
