People these days are thinking less and drinking more

When there is a problem or a difficult situation people do not think how can they solve it. They think, "Where is my bottle of vodka?'' There are several possible solutions to this problem. What clearly needs to be done is to encourage people to handle their problems without using alcohol. Fir...

Kvalitatiivne uurimustöö Emotsioonide regulatsioon ja stress

2 Abstract The aim of this study was to investigate the association between psychological and the biological stress response. It is known that humans, interacting with each other or their environment, have emotional reactions that are individually regulated. These emotional responses are linked to changes in autonomic and neuroendocrine systems, which are essential for metabolic support when preparing the body for action. Since emotion can influence such important processes like learning, decision-making, memory and consequently health and welfare of the individual then dysfunctional regulation of emotions can lead to psychopathology. A total of 26 healthy, non smoking male participants, age group...

''How much does life weigh?''

Some might take it word by word, others in some metaphorical way. Many are convinced that a human body has an immortal part - a soul. With knowing how few it actually weights, we can only assume what we have in these grams and whether it is anything worth at all. First of all, what do we claim to be a soul? It is our conscience with no form or location. It is the energy that is a part of the whole universe. In consideration of this, every human being has their own soul. This is what makes us all different and unique. Because of this, how can we even question the weight of our lives, when it seems to be completely different for everyone? Well, let's think...

Sports Centre

Thanks to the sports centre there is many hobbies you can choose from. You can learn different martial arts, different dances, basketball, football and table tennis. you can take swimming lessons and much more. When you just want to take a time out you can take a steam bath, a regular sauna or just relax in a bubble bath. To me jyri sports centre has only one disadvantage. That you have to pay for these things which the sports centre includes. I find this as a disadvantage because in these hard times I do not have the luxury to go swimming or visit the gym, but again what is the price for your health? My suggestion to end these high prices is to build another sports centre to jyri. So the current sports centre will have some competition and they have to lower the prices to keep their clients and then the old sports centre can be the av...

Geograafia KT-8.klass

Soft stems enable prairie grasses to bend in the wind. Taiga- Due to the harsh environmental conditions, not many plants can survive in the taiga biome. Hence, there is less diversity in the plants found in this biome. As already mentioned, the common taiga plants are coniferous trees or evergreens with long, thin, and waxy leaves. The needle-shaped leaves reduce water loss and protect from weighing down by snow. These plants grow very close to each other, as an adaptation to protect from the cold snow and harsh wind. Other than these plants, lichens and mosses are also found in the taiga biome. Following is a list of the main plants identified from the taiga biome. 9. Compare tropical rain forest and temperate rainforest. At first, rainfall in temperate rainforest is 1500-3500 mm per year, in tropical rainforest t can reach from 1500 to 6000 mm per year. Thoughts on Air Pollution Essay

Every time we breathe, we risk inhaling dangerous chemicals that have found their way into the air. Air pollution includes all contaminants found in the atmosphere. These dangerous substances can be either in the form of gases or particles. Air pollution can be found both outdoors and indoors. Pollutants can be trapped inside buildings, causing indoor pollution that lasts for a long time. The sources of air pollution are both natural and human-based. As one might expect, humans have been producing increasing amounts of pollution as time has progressed, and they now account for the majority of pollutants rel...

Gender equality in higher positions of companies

Companies should be required to allocate a certain percentage of these positions to women. To what extent do you agree? In the 21st century it is all about gender equality and every individual wants to achieve high level position in their work place. In the past, women, in many societies, had less rights and privileges than men. The statement says that companies should give a certain number of higher positions to women. However, I do not agree with this requirement completely. Giving a certain percent of h...

Extended essay: To what extent does a plant-based diet lower the risk of coronary artery disease?

In this investigation I will study two similar prospective studies on plant based diets and cardiovascular diseases, mainly coronary artery disease, to find out if the outcomes of one have anything common with the other. I want to find out whether the outcomes of these studies are reasonable and have any evidence from other studies to support them. My sources include a wide variety of medical journals, studies and webpages. The Californian Seventh-day Adventists study found vegetarian men to have significantly lower risk of coronary artery disease compared to non-vegetarians whereas vegetarian women were at the highest risk. The Oxford vegetarian study, on the other hand, found all vegans and vegeta...

English portfolio

The rights of the indigenous people, however, were not greatly extended -- having escaped their Baltic German landlords, the Estonians instead found themselves under the direct pressure of the Russian bureaucratic regime. Instead of Germans, the high positions were now filled with Russians: these had no knowledge of the Estonian language, nor were they familiar with the local situation. Attempts at Russification were most painfully felt in the field of culture -- language, education, religion and the church, journalism and the activities of various cultural societies. By the end of the 19th century, the entire Estonian and German-language educational system, from primary schools to the University of Tartu, functioned in Russian. In the c...
