poetry, speech, geography, history and philosophy. Older students studied in Latin. Music was very important. There were four classes: quarta, tertia, secunda and prima, prima being the last and quarta the lowest grade. The head of school was a rector. For the first 15 years the rector was Heinrich Vulpius whose Gymnasium Laws (show the picture) were used for more than a century. The set of laws influenced the life of the students a lot. They designated how the students were supposed to act in the school and in their free time. (show the pic) For example the laws said that the students were supposed to concentrate on studying and improving their intelligence and that students with lower intelligence should just study harder although people with no cognitive skills were advised to do something else than study. Students were also not allowed to sleep anywhere else than their home and to swim in cold water. For breaking the rules

minutes. Another reason, I know that from my own experience, is undone homework. We don't want to get bad grades and we choose not to show up. Maybe it's better not to give homework, like they do in Finland. Yesterday, I had 9 lessons. I got home at 5 o'clock and my mom was already home. When I walked in the door, she asked: ,,Wow, how did you get home so early, weren't you supposed to have lessons til 6?" And I actually was supposed to have lessons until 6, but the teacher was also tired from that exhausting day and let us go early. Even then, my mom got home from work an hour before me and we left home at the same time. Then I grabbed a bite and quickly started studying, because there was so much homework to do. After that, I was supposed to go training but I was so beat from all that studying that I just couldn't make it. I can imagine how many people have to cancel training to sit at school or how they have to skip

have been a problem because the Brits had a treaty with Jordan. However, when they found out that Israelis weren't intending to attack Jordan any time soon, the Brits, French and Israelis decided to join their forces against Egypt and started to make plans. Israel would attack Egypt and the French and the Brits would send troops into the Suez canal under the excuse of keeping the two sides under apart and the canal open for shipping. In a later made plan the Brits were also supposed to destroy the Egyptian air force so the Egyptians couldn't bomb Israel. Soon the Egyptians were defeated and the Brits and French ordered the Egyptians and the Israelis to no fight withing 16 km of the canal. The Israelis accepted but the Egyptian didn't so the Brits and French sent in their air force and pretty easily defeated the Egyptians for good. c) The Israelis were supposed to be the ''cover'' to hide the real reason of the war which was that

Christmas

With the world becoming a global village, Christmas is now celebrated in many countries around the world. Though the mode of celebration, the dates and the traditions vary, the spirit remains the same everywhere. Nevertheless, Christmas is like a national shopping season. It has become a stress-filled time of the year. Depression is a major symptom of this holiday season. For those who follow the precepts of Christian faith, this is supposed to be the most joyous of all holidays. It is supposed to be a holy day, one filled with peace and serenity, with memories and hope. A day when we renew our faith and strengthen ties with family and friends. Our society is guided by mass media and without a doubt, these media groups have changed the way we see Christmas and every other holiday. Finally, I would say that Christmas is always a time for love, joy and family. Everyone from the kids to the grandparents should be eager to give and to receive. We should not spend

Letter of complaint

First of all, the advertisement said that the photograph of me and my family will be returned directly but I sent my photo a month ago and there hasn't been any return yet. It also claimed that I will receive the names and address of the people who will correspond with me whereas I got only two so far. To make matters worse the advertisement said that I will get letters from my six new friends but I have heard nothing about them. Finally, why did I get a bill although that service is supposed to be free for all students? Yours faithfully, Piret Elias

Dr John Watson is knowledgeable, brave, strong-willed, and thoroughly professional, as well as a competent detective in his own right, who is supposed to represent the viewer in the movie, who always finds amazement in Sherlock´s solutions which Sherlock simply explains everything to him. 10. Irene Adler enjoys dominating others partially because of her natural personality, and partially because she is insecure. She feels a strong desire to defeat others and to show that she is dominant because she feels inadequate and this is her way of attempting to convince herself that she is not

This holiday is not very popular anymore although some people still decorate their houses with holy tree leaves and fish heads. In the 13th century it was a popular custom, people belived that the smell of burning trees and the sound of drums would scare the spirits away. Nowadays it's more common to throw rosted beans into houses, temples an shrines. Ou are supposed to shout ,,Oni wa soto! Fuku wa uchi!" while throwing the beans which means ,,Devils out! Happiness in!". Then you should pick up the number of peas as old you are and eat them.

Narrative-story

As soon as I saw the rest of the group at the airport, I realised that I made a dreadful mistake. I shouldn’t have booked this trip alone. I should have invited a friend with me. Rest of the group standing few hundred meters away from me were punks. I mean literally punk people with their weird hairstyles and entirely dressed in black. They seemed so terryfing to me. Few of them noticed me standing here and they gave me smirky smiles. That scared me even more. How the hell am I supposed to enjoy this trip with these guys? I started walking slowly towards them, thinking that maybe I should turn around and not go to this trip. But I payed so much money and waited for this journey for so long. I reached the group and I was shaking a little. But you know what? They turned out to be the nicest and friendliest people and I had the best trip ever with them. That’s why there is a saying that don’t judge a book by it’s cover- so basically don’t judge people by their appearance.

Greec wedding traditions

Greek Wedding Traditions Weddings in Greece are quite important, specially in religious people. It all starts with the engagement, which is held in the presence of family and friends. The bride and the groom will exchange rings. After that there is usually a feast to celebrate the engagement. Wedding day is usually Sunday, because it is supposed to bring good luck to the young couple. All the week before the weddings is also important. During the whole week quests visit bride and groom and leave them gifts on their marriage bed. On Wednesday it is customed that relatives come to bride' s and groom' s new house and watch the flour being sieved by a boy and a girl. Through that process there is silence. When there is enough flour people throw coins into it and yell their wishes of good luck

Victorian life - Briti ajalugu

population had grown three times bigger in Great Britain! That made wages much lower, because more people were looking for jobs. Many people couldn't afford places to live and had to live on the streets. Slums started appearing in bigger towns. Crime rate was also rising because of this: many homeless children lived by stealing and respectable Victorians started seeing poor people as a threat to society. That is one of the reasons why workhouses were made. Workhouses Workhouses were supposed to solve the problem of poverty, because wealthy people believed that poor people were poor only because they were lazy(actual causes were overpopulation, unemployment and high prices). So in 1834 a law was passed in the Parliament that resulted in building workhouses to accommodate and give jobs to people who couldn't support themselves financially. Also in the workhouses were orphaned (children without parents) and

What do scientists think about yetis?

The Yeti or Abominable Snowman is a ape-like mythological creature. Even though there is little evidence that the Yeti exists, it has been speculated by some scientists that these creatures could be called as Gigantopithecus. Over numerous conferences, the result that scientists gave was that Yeti actually exists. One of the evidences made scientist believe was the film of female yeti that was taken in California 30 years ago. Other evidences are reports of hikers seeing yeti in the mountains and also their footprints. The reason why report was so strongly supported and believable was because scientists noticed that no one would go up Himalayas and make a lie. One more report was sent from a team of hikers who climbed Mountain Everest. Most scientists believe the Yeti does not exist because there are no final results found yet to this answer. As to the evidence found by explorers that seems to support the existence of the yeti, none has...

Dear Sir, I am writing to complain about the Beautiful China Figure I ordered from your company. I believe your advertisement was misleading in a number of ways. Firstly, it was said to be delivered within ten days but when I received the package, three weeks had already passed. Also, my friend's birthday had passed, it was supposed to be a gift for him. I had to buy a new gift for him and now I do not have anything to do with this figure. Secondly, the figure was cracked and it did not look like the one on the advertisement. The engraved message I chose was also wrong and misspelled. The plaque surface where the message was engraved was scratched and silver but it should have been golden, like it was written in the advertisement. Thirdly, it was mentioned that each figure comes on a wooden stand but mine was on a plastic

Computerised world – a better or a worse place to live in ?

Computerised world – a better or a worse place to live in ? Although computers are said to be one of the most successful inventions there are many people who do not totally agree with that saying. Computers are able to do everything that make our life easier, but why are there still so many different opinions about ones' usefulness? The positive side of having computers in our life is how much it actually changes our life and makes it easier. There are no problems, I mean literally no problems that computers could not do. Computers are used to find information, read news, study, and some even play computer games. But to be exact, computer is not only that small box that stays under our desks or the lap-tops that are well known today. Computers are everything automatic that surround us, for example nowadays there are no cars made without computerised parts. Even shopping would not be even close to like it is now if we would not have al...

The role of television in our society

that is being said on television. They may give you a story, but they may leave out some details to prove their point or to make the story more interesting. We are also the most ill-informed people because we tend to want to watch the entertainment shows and not tune it to the news broadcasts so we are not informed about what is going on in our world. We complain that there aren't enough intelligent in the world and yet we are being misinformed by what is supposed to be our main source of information. Television is powerful enough to make our shopping easier. Actually, it is makeing us lazier. TV shows such as the Home Shopping Network make shopping easy as dialing some numbers on a touch tone phone. People are also convinced to buy a certain product because a celebrity is presenting it. I believe that television has us all trapped in a world vhere we believe everything that is being said

Film review - Billy Elliot

All the actors of this movie are extraordinarily talented and I got really carried away by this story. Billy was a tough kid and managed to convince his father to trust him and Ms Wilkinson about ballet. They softened even his fathers heart that seemed pretty unconvinceable at the first place. Even though I knew it was just a movie I found myself hoping it's all going to be fine and Billy will find a place to belong. Billys grandmother (Jean Heywood), who he was supposed to taka care of, and his dad Jackie (Gary Lewis) played their parts really touchingly and caused all kinds of different emotions. These images of ballet performed by Billy are some still stuck in my mind.

The movie has an actual problem that is known for nowadays society as well in Indian regions for example when parents decide who their offsprings marry to simply because they find it suiting or useful(for example when daughter marries to richer man ) Just like in the movie when Viola de Lesseps was supposed to marry Lord Wessex because his father had already arranged her betrothal, even though she was searching for true love and her heart belonged to William Shakespeare. Everything was exactly in balance, all of the actors played their roles well, they fit into their roles perfectly and I doubt there are many actors who could have done better job. Ajalooline hoone - Haapsalu linnus

These boundaries of the new diocese were permanently fixed by a legate of Pope, Wilhelm of Modena in 1234. The first residence of the diocese was located in Lihula, where with the help of the Order the Bishop transferred the diocese's residence to Vana-Pärnu, wich was burned and destroyed by Lithuanians ten years later. A new centre for the diocese was chosen in Haapsalu, where a cathedral was built and an Episcopal stronghold was started During the reign of Ösel-Wiek Bishop, every canon was supposed to lead a chaste and virtuous life according to the rules of the monastery. Access of women to the Episcopal Castle was forbidden by threat of death. A legend tells that a canon fell in love with an Estonian girl and brought secretly the maiden into the castle. She hid by dressing as a choirboy and remained a secret for a long time, but when the bishop visited Haapsalu again, the young singer caught his attention and he ordered an investigation of the singer's gender.[5]

I think it would have so much success, that soon I could have a beautiful new red Lamborghini next to the entrance. But to reach all that, takes time. I like the life full of adventures and excitement, but I also like to have a nice family around me. Married or not, only thing what really matters, is love. And if everything is the way it's supposed to be, then I don't care about a paper, where's the signatures, for just saying that I have to be with somebody. When I've attained all that, then I have all the time to travel around the world, with the people I love the most. And that would be the centre of my life. The real thing to live for. Right now I don't want to waste my energy to thing about the bad and difficult things, I want to live for my dreams, to make them come true. And you know what..? I will.

Pepsi's Latest advertisement is with Sofia Vergara advertising the new Diet Pepsi slender can. That is typical Pepsi advertisement because they are using a celebrity (Sofia Vergara) and appealing more to younger people. They are using their signature colors red & blue. Advertisement is supposed to make us think that when we think Diet Pepsi we will not gain calories and will look like the celebrity on the picture but gossip that picture is changed with Photoshop has decreased the faith in Diet Pepsi in my opinion. I think that the advertisement has gained a lot of attention but in my opinion people are focusing more on the Photoshopped Sofia than the drink itself and that is not so great. Although he was still a boy who sometimes peed in his bed, playing a baby helped him to forget responsibilities and problems, and find again motherly love in Julie. Tom soon forgot his real mother as something that was natural but he can not be blamed for that because it seems like he had not had any other choice. Tom was a neutral character for me who was part of a bigger puzzle. He did not do anything wrong, just the series of things he was supposed to do as a family member. And I kind of feel sorry for him that he had to suffer as a child and by suffering I mean from perspective of adult. He had to have both parents to grow up with and happy childhood but was deprived of this.

E lessons every day to keep our bodies in shape. We do it by oneself to get in good shape. Outside school there are so many sports to do after the school and it's good to do some sports outside school to stay healthy. If some person hate P.E lessons at school and hate to do sports, then it's not good. What If your friends invited you somewhere, where you need to run, swim or play ball games, you should be able to handle it. I think you get tired and get exhausted, and that's why everybody is supposed to do sport. If you don't like what you see in the mirror, you should make an effort by training a bit every day. Than one day the person looking back in the mirror is much more likeable and person who loves oneself is loveable to others too. You can start exercising step by step, so it would be easier. Power Destroys Ideals

the pigs, Napoleon, decided that he wanted more power. He made Snowball, who was the leader before him, leave the farm and usurped the power. All of the animals were brainwashed. Napoleon was a good manipulator and made animals do everything he wanted them to. He and some other pigs moved to the farmhouse although it was agreed from the beginning that no animal should go in there. Pigs also slept in the beds and did other things that they were not actually supposed to. Pigs were smarter than other animals, so they secretly changed the seven commandments and tricked the others so that they did not understand what was going on. Napoleon acted like a cruel dictator and changed the life on the farm into chaos. In the real world it is all the same. At first people who want power promise different things that they would do to make the life better and easier. They tell the others about how much effort they will put in their future work and tasks

I think maybe nobody ever told him "Jazz playing on horn is very difficult, and probably not natural" or perhaps the phrase does not translate into Russian. I'd walk on a camel for a mile to hear this guy. ''Jazz Times Magazine wrote:“His control of the

But she couldn't be strong any more and soon tears overhold her as well. Fast footsteps were heard again, but this time an older man entered the small room. "The doctor is here, Mary!" announced Elisa and ran off to kitchen to look after the porridge soup they were supposed to have for breakfast. "Hello..." said Mary and the old man bowed politely back. "My name is dr. Winchester I am the family doctor of the Ebes who live in a castle nearby. By the way I am your neighbor." Mary helped Laurel to sit back on her bed and asked if the doctor could help her somehow. The man examined the girl and said, "Well, to be honest these symptoms are something you don't see vary often..." "But she well be alright! Please! Do something, doctor

That would predict a family member's death. It was not allowed to lay a loaf of bread with its cut side to the door, because then the house would run out of bread. Eating the crusty end of bread would give a girl nice breasts. Warm bread was supposed to be broken not cut. Christmas bread Christmas bread had to be different from everyday bread. It was made of rye or wheat flour and it was usually in the shape of a lying pig. Christmas bread was also fed to the animals in the stables and barns Kama Finely milled flour mixture Mixture of ground grains rye, oat barley, and pea flour. so that you will be physically closer. · Where will you be seated prior to your introduction? What path will you take to walk to the podium and then to the lectern? Must you walk from the back of the room, or through people seated on chairs? Must you ascend a podium? (If so, check the height. There is no worse overture to a speech than falling flat on your nose just seconds before you are supposed to speak.) · If possible, place your notes on top or on a shelf of the lectern in advance, rather than carrying them with you. Having your notes already in place on the lectern is a small touch that avoids having to carry them up, lay them on the stand, and play with or shuffle them. This technique, however, is not foolproof. Someone did that once and the speaker before me inadvertently carried his notes away with him. (One solution is to place your notes
