What is European Union?

The European Union (EU) is an economic and political partnership between 27 democratic European countries. EU population is almost a half milliard
European union stands for caring and fair community. All EU members are devoted to peace , democracy , human rights respecting and working together to spread these values all the world.

History

The beginning of EU might consider the year 1951, when European Coal and Steel Community ( ECSC ) was constitute. Six countries joined with it for peace: Belgium, Netherlands , Luxembourg, Italy , France and Germany . With that move, coal and steel industry were put under one organisation , so war was almost impossible between these six country .
Cooperation in different areas improved , when in 25. March 1957 Treaties of Rom , European Economic Community and European Atomic Energy Community memorandum of association were signed . These were sundry organisations. But they had one name- European Community. As the authorisations broaden, it become European Union in 1993.
The European Union was formally established when the Maastricht Treaty came into force . In 1985, the Schengen Agreement led the way toward the creation of open borders without passport controls between most member states and some non-member states.
No member state has ever left the Union, although Greenland (an autonomous province of Denmark) withdrew in 1985.

EU at present

Almost in all the territory of the European Union can travel without passport and border checks
For personal usage everyone may buy goods without limits and extra taxes from a country where it is cheaper. Common money euro enables buyer to compare the prices in member countries where that currency is in use. Travelling to member countries has become simpler because the discomfort and expenses related to changing the currency is forgotten
Over two million young people has been studying or practice in some other EU countries via European Union. Union does not decide the content of schooling programs, but guarantee that acquired education and qualification will be accepted in other EU member states.
Because pollution doesn't recognize borderlines the member countries of EU have taken common measures in many areas. Therefore it's not surprising that the rivers and beaches of Europe have become cleaner , the mashines pollute less and there have been established strict rules on waste treatment. Europe doesn't store it's hazardous waste in poor countries anymore. There are also strict rules in EU that ensure the safety of chemicals in usage for humans and the environment.
EU leaders have an strict agreement how to minimum global warming by lessen greenhouse gases to 20% in 2020.
Thanks to 50 years exist and arosed communion is war between EU countries quite thoughtless.. Get inspired from success , EU help try to keep peace and stability behind European Union boarders.

Symbols

Flag
It is the symbol not only of the European Union but also of Europe's unity and identity in a wider sense . The circle of gold stars represents solidarity and harmony between the peoples of Europe. The number of stars has nothing to do with the number of member states. There are twelve stars because this number is traditionally the symbol of perfection, completeness and unity. So the flag therefore remains unchanged despited of EU enlargements.
Anthem
This is the anthem not only of the European Union but also of Europe in a wider sense. The melody comes from the Ninth Symphony, what is composed in 1823 by Ludwig Van Beethoven . In 1972, the Council of Europe took Beethoven's "Ode to Joy" theme as its anthem. It’s without words .
Euro
The euro is the legal tender for around 329 million people in 16 EU countries. The symbol for the euro is €. The euro paper money is identical in all countries but each country design its own coins with one common side and one side displaying a distinctive national emblem .
Motto
EU motto is „United in diversit“
The motto means that, via the EU, Europeans are united in working together for peace and prosperity, and that the many different cultures , traditions and languages in Europe are a positive asset for the continent

Estonia in EU

In May 2004 Estonia joined with European Union. It’s union’s one of the smallest member.
As a member Estonia have an chance and liability to partake in EU politic reshaping and law making . Estonia’s EU directional politics noticeable, when public servants and ministers talk publicly about EU, in different strategy documents etc.
To promote Estonian odds and for protection in European Union is necessary to have effective domestic coordination system what handle with questions about EU.
Estonian government and central bank has set them sights on joining euro zone at firs chance. It happens as soon as Estonia comply needful conditions .

Good and bad aspects of EU

Pro or con European Union usually depends who you are- proprietor, average person , company boss etc. Everyone see on their own standpoint them give or take. Some opinions are even similar.
So what’s our chances in EU? I bring up six main possibilitys
First , we can travel without material limits, i.e. almost in all the territory of the European Union can travel without passport and border checks
In the other hand, it might be a minus too. Lot’s of people emigre from their native - land to better jobs, education or smth and immigrants bring along their own culture. So it’s pretty presumptive that some day there will be only European culture, where everything is equalized.
Second, for personal usage everyone may buy goods country where it is cheaper. Euro is in use fifteen member states and makes it simpler, so valuta changing is not necessary anymore.
Third – EU citizen may live , work and study some other EU country. Over two million young people had use that opportunity . Well- know are EU programs Erasmus and Leonardo. Union does not decide the content of schooling programs, but guarantee that acquired education will be accepted in other EU member states..
Fourth - community in EU is more fair and everyone has equal chances. Every new member is welcome and supplement other members possibilitys, too. Political stability is stronger and in lower level of development countries will be healthy economy .
Fifth– Trading between member states will be brisker because there is no customs duty. If some goods manufacturing is legal in one country, it will be others too. But to these, who are not in EU, have to pay pretty high prize to trade in member states.
Sixth – to fight international crime and terrorism , there is assure cooperation with member country’s police , border service, Migration Boar and courts. One state decree of the court must apply in other states too.
There are lot’s of limitation, requirement and new laws which accomplish seems a bit weird or trifle. Prizes must be stable, inflation low and balance of payments must be in order. If the regulations are not executed, there will be sizeable mulct. So, everything must strictly meet requirements.
To me, as a student and average person, EU is land of opportunitis. But- for example- I want to be enterpriser, I have to consider lot’s of regulations and orders to have my own business.

European Union economic

European Union economic 9th May 1951, six Western-Europe countries (Belgium, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, France and Germany) signed a treaty to run their heavy industries coal and steel under a common management. From this economic cooperation agreement, European Union has grown up. For today, the aim of this union has made 180º turn but the reason why more and more countries are joining it is still same to rise the economy. So how does it work? European Union is functioning like an independent country. It collects taxes to reach its objectives. Taxes are collected mainly from member countries GDP (1,1% of countries budget) but as well the import duties on good bought into EU. Also, every member country is paying 0,1%-0,33% of their VAT (value added tax). It is the way how EU gets its budget which is about 120 billion per year. This money is spent mainly to improve

The booklet gives also a very readable overview of EU’s history and how its member states have come together. It’s a great starting point to know the roots, history and functioning of the European Union. I found this booklet interesting because it provides an insight into relevance of the EU.
