Acid Rain

Acid rain is any precipitation that is unusually acidic. It possesses elevated levels of hydrogen ions(it has low pH level). Acid rain is caused by emissions of carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides, which react with water molecules. Distilled water(doesn't contain CO 2), has pH level 7. Liquids with pH level less than 7 are acidic, liquids with pH level greater than 7 are alkaline. Unpolluted rain has a pH level over 5.7, so it is slightly acidic. Affected areas Places significantly impacted by acid rain around the globe include most of eastern Europe from Poland northward into Scandinavia, the eastern third of the United States and southeastern Canada. Other affected areas include the southeastern coast of China and Taiwan Causes · It is caused when sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides are released into the air. In the atmosphere they react with water, oxygen and other chemicals to form more acidic pollutants, known as acid rain

About Peter I House Museum

About Peter I House Museum Emperor Peter I (1672-1725) expanded the borders of the Russian Empire in the course of the Northern War and managed to annex the whole Estonian territory by the year 1710. Therefore the protection of the new border areas became the priority of the ruler and he paid a lot of attention to the reconstruction of ports in Tallinn and Paldiski and visited Tallinn several times. Together with the site of the would-be palace, a summer estate and a 17th-century cottage that had belonged to town councillor von Drenteln were purchased for the emperor's use in 1713. The small cottage was enlarged with a wing and the outcome was a building with a hall, a kitchen and four rooms. The small summer residence was

In the summer there is lots of rain. The savanna has a large range of highly specialized plants and animals. RainforestThe tropical rain forest is a forest of tall trees in a region of year-round warmth. Rain forests belong to the tropical wet climate group. The temperature in a rain forest rarely gets higher than 34 °C or drops below 20 °C. Rainfall is often more than 100 inches a year. There is usually a brief season of less rain. In monsoonal areas, there is a real dry season. Almost all rain forests lie near the equator. Rainforests now cover less than 6% of Earth's land surface. AlpineCold, snowy, windy. In the summer average temperatures range from 10 to 15° C . In the winter the temperatures are below freezing. The winter season can last from October to May. The summer season may last from June to September. The temperatures in the Alpine biome can also change from warm to freezing in one day

Summary

Summary In this summary I will analyse three articles on the topic of whether it is justified and morally right to use drone warfare in the tribal areas of Pakistan and in Gaza. To begin, we do not know if the drones have done more harm or good in the tribal areas of Pakistan. Most of the information about drone attacks is coming from dubious Pakistan media, which we cannot seriously rely on. Hence, we cannot be sure if the persons killed by drones were innocent civilians or extremists. (Fair, 2013) One the one hand, using drones can be more discriminate, because they hover over the enemy for hours and wait for the perfect moment to attack, when there are no innocent people who might get injured

Born spotted, the kittens stay with their mothers for about 18 months, after which time they will leave in search of their own home range. The Mountain Lion is capable stalk-and-ambush predator; the cougar pursues a wide variety of prey. Primary food sources include ungulates such as deer and bighorn sheep, but it hunts species as small as insects and rodents The Cougar prefers habitats with dense underbrush and rocky areas for stalking, but it can live in open areas. The cougar is territorial and persists at low population densities. Individual territory sizes depend on terrain, vegetation, and abundance of prey. A single male lion may require up to 175 square miles of territory for its home range. They prefer wild areas frequented by deer. One lion will consume about one deer per week. A lion will cover the remains of its prey and return to the kill to feed until the meat begins to turn. If you find a lion kill, don't hang around the area

around here. Wildlife is good and getting better because we have beautiful forests near Poku which gives good living and development places for wild animals. Paper and glass recycling is well organized. We have paper and glass containers and workers are cleaning them daily basis. Due to the fact that overall life in Poku is good we still have some problematic things to consider. Nowadays government has started to cut trees near Poku. This affects development of animals living in these areas because it takes away living areas of these animals. Air pollution is also rising because of overall pollution coming from distant cities and from cars that tourists use to visit the area. People who are visiting Poku are also leaving too much trash behind. Plastic and chemicals recycling is also problematic because right now there is little ways to recycle them. I recommend that we could use extra trash bins, so tourist could always put their trash in proper places

Floods and Tsunamis

Some floods can occur suddenly and recede quickly. Others take days or even months to build and discharge. When floods happen in an area that people live, the water carries along objects like houses, bridges, cars, furniture and even people. It can wipe away farms, trees and many more heavy items. Floods occur at irregular intervals and vary in size, duration and the affected area. It is important to note that water naturally flows from high areas to low lying areas. This means low-lying areas may flood quickly before it begins to get to higher ground. Flooding is extremely dangerous and has the potential to wipe away an entire city, coastline or area, and cause extensive damage to life and property. It also has great erosive power and can be extremely destructive, even if it is a foot high. A tsunami (pronounced sue-nahm-ee) is a series of huge waves that can cause great devastation and loss of life when they strike a coast.

Global warming

Global warming The problem of desertification increases every year. More and more fertile areas become useless. Seas, lakes and other bodies of water dry out. Desertification does not only have an effect on the dry areas but also influences the areas that aren't haunted by the lack of water and land. Desertification has an effect on all of us. It slows down the development of agriculture or puts a total stop to it. The poor living conditions of developing countries drive people to search food somewhere else. In addition to natural ways, humankind helps along to the process of desertification that eventually leads to global warming. The main reasons are the fast growth of the population and it's

Litter in our country

Litter is a problem throughout the country, particularly in urban areas and in the more populated areas of Kiev, Kharkov, Donetsk and others. People litter on the banks of the rivers, in parks, in the streets. A lack of bins is not a major factor in littering. Sometimes you can see the bin in the street, and a pile of litter half a meter away from it. The main reason of littering is behaviour. The more litter people see on the street the more inclined to litter. For example, cinema complexes, football ground and theatres are cleaned up but such areas as parks and streets are neglected

Jamaica

Jamaica prospered from the wealth brought by buccaneers, notably Sir Henry Morgan, to Port Royal, the capital; in 1692, however, much of the city sank into the sea during an earthquake, and Spanish Town became the new capital. A huge, mostly African, slave population grew up around the sugarcane plantations in the 18th cent., when Jamaica was a leading world sugar producer. Freed and escaped slaves, sometimes aided by the maroons (slaves who had escaped to remote areas after Spain lost 3 control of Jamaica), succeeded in organizing frequent uprisings against the European landowners. The sugar industry declined in the 19th cent., partly because of the abolition of slavery in 1833 (effective 1838) and partly because of the elimination in 1846 of the imperial preference tariff for colonial products entering the British market. Economic hardship was

How can we make our cities more environmentally friendly?

If we improved public transport or made electric cars, our streets wouldn't be so polluted. In Tallinn, for example, the air there is so polluted, that you can hardly breathe there. If the authorities put bins everywhere in the streets, our cities would be cleaner. The second thing is, that people still drop litter on the ground, even if there is a bin somewhere nearby. If we didn't build so much houses all around cities, we could save money from that and better build animal parks, green areas and playgrounds for children. If there were more green areas, people would have more oxygen. All in all, we must understand the importance of oxygen and where must litter go, then we could have better atmosphere and people wouldn't be worried about their health.

An Invention

Walkie-Talkie followed by handheld two-way radios that operated on battery power. In 1947, Douglas Ring and W. Rae Young at Bell Labs introduced the idea of hexagonal cells for mobile phones. Ericsson came up with an automatic mobile phone system, which was released in Sweden in 1956. The drawback of this system was that the phones weighed 40 kg´s. Till 1970, mobile phones had to remain within their cell area and there were no means to continue communication while switching between cell areas. The call handoff system that allows users to move through different cell areas came up only in 1970. Mobile phones are nowadays almost in every people hands. They are irreplaceable communication device. Thanks for your attention.

the climate of England is classified as oceanic climate , with warm summers, cool winters and much rain throughout the year. As Britain have such a variable climate changing from day to day, it is difficult to know what weather will be on next day. In general there are warm summers and cool winters. Summers are cooler than those on the continent, but the winters are colder. Eastern parts are drier, cooler and less windy. Northern areas are generally cooler, wetter and have a smaller temperature range than southern areas. The highest temperature in England was 38.5 degrees at 10th August 2003. Winters are cool, wet and windy. Temperatures at night rarely drop below -10 degrees and in the day rarely rise above 15 °degrees. The lowest temperature was -27.2 degrees at 30th December 1995. Global warming

Global warming means that the temperature keeps going higher. The world is now warmer than at any time since the last Ice Age. The problem of desertification increases every year. More and more fertile areas become useless. Seas, lakes and other bodies of water dry out. One reason why the global warming is happening is that the population is growing and we need to do more work so everyone can feel themselves comfortable. They have enough to eat, new clothes, warm house and so on. Some areas become uninhabitable so people have to move around and maybe even fight for something. For example for clean water. People so far have acted careless and not thinking ahead too far in the future. There have been few who have tried to stand out and make others understand what they should do. They have showed what has happened so far and what will happen if no action is taken under consideration. Global warming and our part in it is a serious problem that we have to face. We

About Estonia

The number of islands and islets is estimated at some 1,500. Two are large enough to constitute their own counties: Saaremaa and Hiiumaa. Estonia lies in the northern part of the temperate climate zone and in the transition zone between maritime and continental climate. Because Estonia is continuously warmed by the Gulf Stream it has a milder climate despite its northern latitude. The Baltic Sea causes differences between the climate of coastal and inland areas. The average annual temperature in Estonia is 5 °C. The average temperature in February, the coldest month of the year, is -5.2 °C. The average temperature in July, which is considered the warmest month of the year, is 18 °C. The climate is also influenced by the Atlantic Ocean, the North- Atlantic Stream and the Icelandic Minimum, which is an area known for the formation of cyclones and where the average air pressure is lower than in neighbouring areas

wide. The most mountainous region is of course Scotland with its highland and highest peak: Ben Nevis 1343 m. Scotland also has a wide lowland are between the Grampians and Southern Uplands, where most of the largest cities and population are located. Much of Wales is also mountainous and in England the Pennine Range extends 224 kilometres. The rest of England tends to be quite bumpy, for not even the large plains of East Anglia are perfectly flat. In Ireland all the highland areas are around the edge, but there are no peaks that surpass the height of one kilometer. The rivers are quite short, the longest being the Severn and the Thames. Their easy navigability has made them an important part of the inland transport network. 5. Population With 57 million people, the UK ranks about fifteenth in the world in terms of population, with England being the most populous part, followed by Scotland, then Wales and finally Northern Ireland

The traveler sees what he sees, the tourist sees what he has come to see

They make an effort to learn some of the language and speak to locals to find out about the history, traditions and customs of the country. They do this not because they feel like they have to, but because they care and want to. For them, it’s not just about taking a break from everyday life, but learning and experiencing something they haven’t before. Usually they’ll try to explore the lesser known areas that locals suggest and not the areas where tourism drives the economy. They don’t have a plan set in stone, they’ll see what life has in store. Travelling is a personal experience, so what other people do, what they see, where they go shouldn’t affect what you do or how you feel about travelling. It’s not necessary to commit to one title or the other, but figuring out the way you define yourself can help you get the most out of your travels.

Water depths of less than 1 m are preferred. Mallards avoid areas more than a few metres deep. When the male molts, he ends up losing his distinctive green head of feathers, but still has the white collar ring and rusty-brown chest. Both males and females are unable to fly after molting until they re-grow them in time for the fall migration. The female has the louder and more distinctive "quack" than males. Male Mallards have more of a nasal quack that is much quieter. This noted, males and females together make a lot of noise. Mallards

peninsulas. Lots of islands lie off the west- and north coast. The largest of them are Saaremaa and Hiiumaa. Geographically Estonia can be divided into 4 parts: North-, South-, West-, and East-Estonia. North-Estonia is relatively flat. Here is a nice coastline with coves, capes and a high coast. South-Estonia is more hillier, but there aren't any mountains or mountain ranges. The highest peak in Estonia is Suur Munamägi and its 318m above sealine. The largest industrial areas are situated in East-Estonia. There are beautiful nature parks in West-Estonia. The inland is mainly agricultural. Estonia is known for its 1000 lakes and beautiful nature. One of the most interesting sight is Jägala Waterfall. Lake Peipus separates Estonia from Russia. The largest river basing is round the Pärnu eastern. In Estonia there are huge forest areas and wood is an important export article. Unfortunately Estonia is not rich on other natural resources.
