Report ehk aruanne

Report The aim of this report is to give information about what kind of items should be sold as our school's souvenirs. Many people think that items sold as souvenirs should be items that a person uses on a daily basis. The best items to sell would be mugs, pens and T-shirts. Our school emblem is an eagle spreading it's wings, therefore, the souvenirs should have a picture of an eagle on them. Another option would be to print our school's initials on those items. Initials do not take much space and above all they are practical. It is believed that red and yellow are irritating colors, blue and green on the other hand are soothing. Keeping that in mind, the souvenirs should be in blue and green shades. Text on the souvenirs should be in black as black catches the eye

The thistle has been one of the national emblem of the Scots nation since the reign of Alexander III (1249 1286) and was used on silver coins issued by James III in 1470. Today, it forms part of the emblem of the Scottish Rugby Union. As legend has it, an invading army had attempted to sneak up at night on the Scots. One, perhaps barefooted, unwelcome foreign soldier stumbled upon a Scots Thistle, and cried out in pain, thus alerting Scots to their presence. Some sources suggest the specific occasion was the Battle of Largs, which

Voldemar Jannsen. It was performed in 1869 in the first Song Festival in Tartu and it gained popularity during the national movement. It was adopted as the national anthem in 1920, after the World War I. The melody of the anthem is the same as the Finnish have. During the Soviet time the anthem was banned and My Native Land, My Dearest Love was the unofficial anthem but people carried the real anthem in their hearts. Lions were first used as Estonia's heraldic emblem in the 13 th century when they appeared on the large coat of arms of Tallinn. A similar motif was used on the coat of arms of the Province of Estonia under Swedish rule. In 1925 they were adopted officially. The current coat of arms is a golden shield charged with three blue lions with a golden oak branch on each side. The small coat of arms is identical but without oak branches. BRITISH NATIONAL SYMBOLS

chest or back of the warrior. The imperial war flag of the Holy Roman Empire (from 800 onwards) displayed a white cross on red, symbolising the holy cause in which the battle was fought. As early as 1188 different colours were in use for crusaders from different regions, a distinction illuminating that it is obviously impossible to provide a precise date of the first cloth flags since fabric flags have not been preserved from the Middle Ages. A `badge' is a distinctive emblem added to a flag or used on its own. It was also decided in 1188, that King Philip Augustus of France was to have his own colours displayed on his cross flag (red cross on white), as were King Henry II of England (white cross on red) and Count Philip of Flanders (green cross on white). These colours were later reversed and, while the reason for this remains unclear, England embarked on what today is considered a continuous tradition of a red cross on white from 1277,

There are cultural variations and distinctions from province to province and region to region. Canadian culture has also been greatly influenced by immigration from all over the world. Many Canadians value multiculturalism. There were, and are, many distinct Aboriginal peoples across Canada, each with its own culture, beliefs, values, language, and history. Much of this legacy remains celebrated artistically, and in other ways, in Canada to this day. Part of the emblem of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics is an inukshuk, a stack of rocks in human form that is a part of Inuit culture. 12. History The earliest discovery of the new World was made by Norse seafarers known as Vikings. It is said that in 985 AD Norse seamen sailing from Iceland to Greenland were blown far westward off their course and sighted the coast of what must have been Labrador. The report of forested areas on the strange new coast encouraged

Finland

The most common breeding birds are the Willow Warbler, Chaffinch and Redwing. Of some seventy species of freshwater fish, the northern pike, perch and others are plentiful. Salmon remains the favorite of fly rod enthusiasts. The endangered Saimaa Ringed Seal, one of only three lake seal species in the world, exists only in the Saimaa lake system of southeastern Finland, down to only 300 seals today. It has become the emblem of the Finnish Association for Nature Conservation. Due to hunting and persecution in history, many animals such as the Golden Eagle, Brown Bear and Eurasian Lynx all experienced significant declines in population. However, their numbers have increased again in the 2000s, mainly as a result of careful conservation and the establishment of vast national parks. Jacques Louis David ja Prantsuse Revolutsioon

(Vaughan,????????????????, p.56, 57) Last but not least, the third martyr that David depicted was Joseph Bara. Bara was a young boy, who anchored himself to an army fighting the opposers of the Revolution. He was murdered, because he refused to give away two horses to the counterrevolutionaries. David portrayed him as an innocent victim and therefore the painting of Bara was very different from two previous martyr portrays. Bara is depicted as lying naked on the ground with a national emblem in his hand. David did not paint the real story, but instead portrayed Bara as being killed after being surrounded by enemies who demanded him to cry out `Long live the King!' . As usual for Jacques-Louis David, he made the story and the person better than it actually was. Furthermore, Bara was painted later than the two previous martyr portrays and therefore David's own perception of the Revolution had changed and so Bara was more of an

Queen' in 1984. It was written by a Scottish-born composer, Peter Dodds McCormick. The unofficial anthem of Australia is `Waltzing Matilda'. It tells a story about a swagman, who has named his sleeping blanket Matilda. He is chased by police for stealing a sheep which he wanted to eat. The swagman doesn't want to be punished, so he jumps into a billabong and drowns. The golden wattle was proclaimed the official national floral emblem in 1988. It is a spreading shrub or a small tree, which grows in the under storey of open forest, woodland and open scrub in South Australia, Victoria, New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory. Green and gold were proclaimed Australia's national colour by the Governor-General in 1984. Before the proclamation, Australia had no official colour, although three colour combinations traditionally had a claim to be Australia's national colours: red, white and blue;
