Essay Often the United States is referred to as the land of opportunity. No wonder a lot of people want to experience it – in fact a survey found out that about 165 million adults worldwide would immigrate to the United States if they had the opportunity. Unfortunately not everyone who decides to live in America does it legally and that’s where the problems begin. Illegal immigration is not a new issue in the United States. For many years immigrants have crossed the American border through Mexico, the Pacific Ocean or some other way. Also there are people who enter the country with a visa but stay for a longer time than it allows them to. Every day thousands of immigrants come to the United States and in March 2010 the estimated number of illegal aliens in the States was about 11 200 000. About eight million of them had jobs. But why are there so many illegal immigrants in the US? Is it truly that difficult to get a

Here, the major obstacle is often xenophobia which may be caused by a wide range of factors. As a rule, xenophobia occurs in big, mostly mono-cultural societies, where strangers are kept at a distance just because they have not been seen around before. On the other hand, xenophobia can result from the hyper-liberal immigration policy in some modern countries. For example France and Sweden which have warmly welcomed a huge amount of immigrants form Asia and Africa during the recent decades. However, instead of striving to integrate with the local population by learning their language and getting to know their culture, they form their own closed community which do not communicate with the indigenous population. What is more, they keep on following the laws of their native land, often ignoring the legislation of their new homeland. Moreover, it is the part of the population who is not interested in their own roots and who

The population of London is more than seven million people. There are very many different people living in one city. Almost every race, culture and religion in the world is represented in London. Many people move to London to work or study. It is very popular among young people because of the nightlife, universities with good reputation and big shopping streets. For older people the main attraction is in theatres, great museums and parks. In the past few years, the number of immigrants has grown rapidly because of the widening of the European Union. It is now easier for people to travel inside the EU. Londoners are well known for their politeness but not all of them deserve this kind of fame. There are many people living in London who do not accept other races and religions. They do not like foreigners visiting London as tourists nor living there. Racism is most common among young people or in areas where many coloured people live

Ice hockey is a most popular in areas that are sufficiently cold for natural reliable seasonal ice cover such as Canada, the northern United States, Scandinavia and Russia. History European immigrants brought various versions of hockey: like games to Canada, such as the Irish sport of hurling, the closely related Scottish sport of shinty, and versions of field hockey played in England. Where necessary, these seem to have been adapted for icy conditions; for example, a colonial Williamsburg newspaper records hockey being played in a snow storm in Virginia. Early paintings show "shinney", an early form of hockey with no standard rules, being played in Nova

They are proud of the many cultures that exist side by side in their country. It has two official languages, English and French. The Canadian population is made up mainly of British and French origins. However Canada is not like Britain, or France, or the USA. The way of life there is very varied. It has influenced by immigrants from all over the world. Canadians prefer British English spellings, such as theatre, centre, colour and harbour. It was so interesting to hear about English traditions. I wrote about an Estonian holiday. Halloween, or Hallowe'en, is a holiday celebrated on the night of October 31.Halloween activities include trick-or-treating, ghost tours, bonfires, costume parties, visiting "haunted houses" and carving jack-o-lanterns. The term Halloweenis shortened from All-hallow-even, as it is the eve of "All Hallows' Day", which is now also known as All Saints' Day. Irish and Scottish immigrants carried versions of the tradition to North America in the nineteenth century. Other western countries embraced the holiday in the late twentieth century. Halloween is celebrated in several parts of the Western world, most commonly in Ireland, the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico and the United Kingdom and occasionally in parts of Australia and New Zealand. The symbols are pumpkin, mythical monsters, black cats, scarecrows. Before you can enjoy Halloween you must do a lot of preparations

Should rich people welcome immigration? People migrate as they have done for many centuries, in search of a better life, warmer climates, more natural resources .Immigration will probably last until all countries are economically equal. But should rich countries welcome immigrates, who want to start a new life in their country? Immigration has it's negative and positive sides. Firstly, the positive side is that most immigrants have been working hard in developed countries. They start their own business by running a corner shop or owning a restaurant. Talented people also have a opportunity to use their talent in developed countries the way they can not do in their home country. Secondly, the negative side is that developing countries can not develope if talented and wealthy people leave their homes. These people should realise that they are the ones, who

Firstly, despite the poor state of the country, it has to help other Member State, if it has some kind of problem. Secondly, prices on food for example can grow up, because of despite the European Union has a single market. Moreover, it is a challenge for national identity, because there are a large number of refugees and immigrants, who brought with another culture and customs. Also, the country can lose skilled young workers, who go to another country to live and work. To sum up, the only reason the countries are entering the European Union is they feel it makes their country stronger and better economically. This union gives them a lot of benefits, but it is necessary to obey some EU laws.

to major additional segments of the global economy. Likewise, the executive or office worker or retail clerk with multi-fluency has the edge over co-workers and competitors who do not. The isolationism of single-language operations in business and in government amounts to arrogance, and eliminates the single-language entity from effective competition. There are any number of ways for the individual to learn a second or even third language. Immigrants, who refuse to become fluent in the language of their host country prevent their own success. It is mind-boggling that there are Russian-speaking families in Tallinn, for example, who have lived here in the Estonia for forty years and still have learned nary a word of Estonish! So the logical, success-promotive strategy is to learn one or more languages of a higher Tier. And such must be the policy in the schools, from the first day of pre-school or kindergarten.

Some writers from other parts of the country have mistakenly assumed the term to refer only to people of mixed racial descent, but this is not the traditional Louisiana usage. Originally it referred to people of French and then Spanish descent who were born in Louisiana, to distinguish them from immigrants. Later Creole was sometimes used as well to refer to people of African descent born in Louisiana. Later the terms were differentiated, by French Creole (European ancestry) and Louisiana Creole (meaning someone of mixed racial ancestry). 6 Current usage has broadened the meaning of Louisiana Creoles to describe a broad cultural group of people of all races who share a French or Spanish background

Riots 2) Racism is a common problem in many countries and in Englad it is present because there are many immigrants from all over the world. As it is a widespread social problem it's also one of the worst ones, because the hatred directed to different races or even nationalities makes the foreign people feel bad and also to hate the locals. This brings up many conflicts like the bombings in 2005 (when 4 islamic suicide bombers killed thmeselves and 52 civilians), but usually the conflicts are smaller, like brawls between different ethnic groups or mockery and insults.

Its population is only 100 persons less than Christchurches but the area is much smaller - it's 444 km². People say that in New Zealand there are more bagpipe ensembles than in Scotland. Thanks to permanent immigration from England and the fact that many young new-zealanders spend time in England for getting "over-sea experiences", the cultural connection between New Zealand and England won't get lost. Also the traditional English language stays preserved.
