Emma

After the Norman conquest this name became common in England. It was revived in the 18th century, perhaps in part due to Matthew Prior's poem 'Henry and Emma'. It was also used by Jane Austen for the central character, the matchmaker Emma Woodhouse, in her novel 'Emma'. Popularity Name Emma has been among the top names given to baby girls in the United States, England, Wales, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Ireland, France,Sweden, Belgium, Canada, Australia, Norway, New Zealand, Hungary, Finland, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, and Spain in the past 10 years. It began gaining popularity in the United Kingdom during the 1960s - at the time Emma Peel was a fictional television spy played by Diana Rigg in the British adventure series The Avengers. By 1974 it was the fourth most popular girl's name in the United Kingdom. It was still in the top 10 as late as 1995, but had fallen out of the top 20 by 2005 and in 2009 it ranked at 41st.

The Foundation of Estonia

The Foundation of Estonia Estonia The history of Estonia The history of Estonia is a part of the history of Europe. Estonia was settled near the end of the last glacial era, beginning from around 8500 BC. Before the Germans invaded in the 13th century proto-Estonians of the Ancient Estonia worshipped the spirits of nature. Since the Northern Crusades Estonia became a battleground for centuries where Denmark, Germany, Russia, Sweden and Poland fought their many wars over controlling the important geographical position of the country as a gateway between East and West. Being conquered by Danes and Germans in 1227, Estonia was ruled initially by Denmark in the north, by the Livonian Order, an autonomous part of the Monastic state of the Teutonic Knights and Baltic German ecclesiastical states of the Holy Roman Empire. Tallinn town hall

TALLINN TOWN HALL Tallinn Town Hall is the only surviving Gothic town hall in Northern Europe. Built in the heart of Tallinn, next to a marketplace, the Town Hall has witnessed trade and social activities for over 700 years. It has still remained the most important representational building in town. The building history of the Town Hall goes back to the 13th century, but it acquired its medieval appearance in 140204. It was as early as 1248 when King Eric IV Ploughpenny of Denmark granted the Lübeck Charter to Tallinn. Relying on that document a town council was elected from amongst merchants of the Hanse and started convening in the Town Hall. It is possible to state on the basis of research findings that a meeting place of the magistracy and a goods depot in the form of a small, fortified town hall, constructed of local limestone, existed in its present location already in the mid-13th century.

Claudius has killed Hamlet's father, the King of Denmark. Hamlet's mother married Claudius two months later because she didn't know. The guards of the castle see the ghost of Hamlet's father. And the ghost tells Hamlet that his uncle, Claudius killed him, so Hamlet went crazy. The King and Queen think that he is acting strange because he is in love with Ophelia. So they put him in a room with Ophelia to find out for sure. But Hamlet was mean to her, so his uncle thinks Hamlet knows he killed his father and that's why he's mad. Ophelia goes crazy because Hamlet says he doesn't love her and she drowns herself. Her brother blames Hamlet and challenges him to a duel. was consecrated in 1884. During Soviet rule, the flag was prohibited and it was first used again in Tartu in 1988. The national anthem is entitled as "My Native Land, My Pride and Joy". The melody was composed in the centre of the 19 th century by Friedrich Pacius and the Estonian lyrics were written by Johann Voldemar Jannsen. It was adopted as the official national anthem in 1920. The national coat of arms is originated from Denmark. It is a golden shield charged with three blue lions with a golden oak branch on each side. It was readopted in 1990. The official emblems were prohibited during invasions, but as they have been restored we can say that Estonians are tough and persistent nation.

name studies. British landlords ruled small, unstable kingdoms and continued some Roman traditions of governance. In the mid-5th cent, Vertigern, a British leader, hired Germanic mercenaries to help defend against peoples of the north (Picts & Scots). In the end they revolted & the process of invasion and settlement began. The first Saxon ,,kings" were Hengist & Horsa in Kent, Aelle in Sussex, Cerdic / Cynric in Wessex. So the first ,,English" became mainly from Northern Germany & Denmark. The resistance of the Celts was long. They were free at the time, not like other Roman provinces on the Continent. Around 500, the Britons seem to have won several victories. One of their leaders was Ambrosius Aurelianus and one of their victories was at the place called Mount Badon. The main leader of the Britons at this time may have been the warrior later called King Arthur. By the 7th cent. the invaders managed to conquer the greater part of the land. The invaders

Windpower

Wind power is very old power source, sailing ships have been using wind power for at least 5,500 years. The first practical windmills were built in Afghanistan, from the 7th century to grind corn and draw up water. The first windmill for electricity production was built in Scotland in 1887 to power the lighting in the cottage, thus making it the first house in the world to have its electricity supplied by wind power. During the Second World War, small wind generators were to recharge submarine batteries. In the 1990s, wind power became more important, because fossil fuels pollute the atmosphere and humanity needed alternative fuels. That's because wind power is so necessary. Wind power is also renewable energy and it doesn't cause greenhouse gases. Building windmills is actually quite expensive and they need repairing or replacing about every 12-15 years. And strong winds can also break the wind turbines. Considering these thin...

INTRODUCTION Tallinn is the capital and largest city of Estonia. It occupies a surface of 159.2 km2 in which 404,000 inhabitants live. It is situated on the northern coast of the country, on the banks of the Gulf of Finland, in north-western Estonia. Tallinn is the location of many institutions of higher education and science. As an important port for trade between Russia and Scandinavia, it became a target for the expansion of the Teutonic Knights and the Kingdom of Denmark. Historically, the city has been attacked, sacked, razed and pillaged on numerous occasions. Although extensively bombed by Soviet airforces during the latter stages of World War II, much of the medieval Old Town still retains its charm. Since independence, improving air and sea transport links with Western Europe and Estonia's accession to the European Union have made Tallinn easily accessible to tourists. SIGHTSEEING

Benefits and drawbacks about Estonia

It lacks pollution and traffic jams. There is water everywhere. It has four seasons. Dark days in the winter and white nights in the summer and it is wonderful. Many countries have gradually climate , when all time sun is shining and it rains one time in 1 month. In my opinion, all seasons have own benefits. For example, Even winter is coming, snow is falling, temperature is very high, weather is cold, Estonian forests are so fantastic and enchantress. Also, Estonia is slightly bigger than Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium and Switzerland. On the other hand, this country have own drawbacks. What I really hate, it is mandatory learning Estonian language. Without knowledge Estonian language, I, and a lot of people cannot study in qualify and attractive universities. Also in our country significantly small salary and low perspective. There is average salary in one month 977 euro, but not all people give this money.

the 8th millennium BC. Fortified settlements were established in the 1 st century BC. The ancestors of Estonians formed several independent states headed by elected elders. Until the beginning of the 13th century Estonia was politically independent. Then began a long chain of occupation and control by foreign powers. In the 1200s the German crusaders converted Estonia into a Christianity by force and took control over South Estonia. In 1219 Denmark conquered Northern Estonia. About a century later, in 1346 Denmark sold its territory to Germany. By the 1500s German nobles owned much of Estonia's land. After the Livonian War (1558-1583) the northern part of Estonia went under Swedish control, the southern part belonged to Poland and the islands to Denmark. Only in1629 the whole mainland Estonia became subject to Sweden. Under Swedish rule the University of Tartu was founded in 1632 and also the
