Introduction

I chose to make my report about the United States of America because it is really big country with a lot of people living there . Also, USA is really important to world’s economy. I definitely would like to visit this country in the future to see the lifestyle of American people. Most of the greatest movies are filmed there, Americans are good in almost every sports and USA is one of the richest countries in the whole world.
I would like to get to know more about this country and about it’s people. Also, the nature of the United States seems interesting to me because it is so big country and there are a lot of different weather conditions . The next thing to learn about it would be it’s importance and then I would like to get to know about the history of the United States.

Area which USA covers. The United States of America is marked with green.
Symbols
The national flag of the United States of America. The fifty stars on the flag represent the 50 states and the 13 stripes represent the original thirteen colonies that rebelled against the British monarchy and became the first states in the Union. Nicknames for the flag include the Stars and Stripes, Old Glory, and The Star -Spangled Banner . The flag of the United States is one of the nation 's most widely recognized symbols.
Within the U.S. it is frequently displayed, not only on public buildings, but on private residences. It is also used as a motif on decals for car windows , and clothing ornaments such as badges and lapel pins. Throughout the world it is used in public discourse to refer to the U.S., not only as a nation, state, government , and set of policies, but also as an ideology and set of ideals .
The Statue of Liberty is a huge sculpture that is located on Liberty Island in New York Harbor. This monument was a gift to the USA from the people of France in recognition of the French -American alliance during the American Revolution.
The formal name of the statue is "Liberty Enlightening the World." It pictures a woman who has escaping the chains of tyranny. Liberty's right hand holds a torch that is a symbol of liberty.
Liberty was designed by the French sculptor Frederic Auguste Bartholdi. The hollow copper statue was built in France - it was finished in July , 1884. It was brought to the USA in 350 pieces on a French ship called the "Isere". The statue was re- assembled in the USA and was completed on October 28, 1886 .

The White House is the official residence of the President of the United States of America, and has been for over 200 years . It is located in Washington, D.C., the capital city of the USA. The White House was designed by the Irish -American architect James Hoban, who had won a architectural design competition in 1792. Hoban's design is said to have been very similar to a plan from James Gibbs ' "Book of Architecture ". Extra pavillions were added to the White House later ; they were designed by the architect Benjamin Latrobe. The first US President to live in the White House was John Adams ( the second President of the USA). Adams and his family moved to the White House in 1800. They had previously lived in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania (which had been the temporary capital of the USA while Washington, D.C., was being built). When the Adams family moved into the White House, the interior of the building was not quite finished. Construction was completed during Thomas Jefferson's' term (1801-1809). As a means of preserving the history of the White House, no substantive architectural changes have been made on the house since the Truman renovation. Since the Kennedy restoration, every presidential family has made some changes to their private quarters of the White House, but the Committee for the Preservation of the White House must approve any modifications to the State Rooms. Aimed at maintaining the historical integrity of the White House, the congressionally authorized committee works with the First Family— usually represented by the First Lady, the White House Curator, and Chief Usher—to implement the family's proposed plans for altering the home.

The history of the United States of America
The first people arrived to USA about 12-40 thousand years ago from Asia . After that, they founded their own cultures and lived there quite peacefully until 1492 when European explorer Cristopher Columbus discovered America and European settlers were starting to settle to just discovered land to get easily rich because of the people who had been there and went back to Europe got rich overnight.
European settlers brought with themselves many easily cureable diseases which were unknown for Native Americans and those simple diseases killed over million Natives. The Natives who lived there helped new settlers but the settlers thought that they are better and acted presumingly. I think that European settlers shouldn’t have done that because they went to foreign country where people were living and it was definitely not nice to act so.
Most of the countries of Europe wanted to get land in America so they all made colonys there and started to bring there African slaves. Tensions between American colonials and the British during the revolutionary period of the 1760s and early 1770s led to the American Revolutionary War. In 1775, the Continental Congress , convening in Philadelphia, established a Continental Army under the command of George Washington. Proclaiming that "all men are created equal" and endowed with "certain unalienable Rights ," the Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence, drafted largely by Thomas Jefferson, on July 4, 1776. That date is now celebrated annually as America's Independence Day. After the American forces had defeated British forces the Independence of the United States was announced. George Washington was the first president of the United States of America.
In World War I America tryed to be neutral but still joined the Allies forces which won the war. USA has always been one of the most liberate country in the world and there has always been democracy . In World War II USA was again on the winners side and after that the Cold War started which was won again. I think that USA is really succesful country and the leaders of that country can make right desicions on the right time.

The climate of the United States of America

The land area of the contiguous United States is approximately 770 million hectares. Alaska , separated from the contiguous United States by Canada , is the largest state at 365 million acres (150 million hectares). Hawaii , occupying an archipelago in the central Pacific , southwest of North America, has just over 1.6 million hectares.
There are many lakes in American for example Lake Michigan or Lake Hudson . There are also many rivers for example the longest river is Mississippi which is one of the longest rivers in the world. There are really big mountain ranges like the Rocky Mountains . Also there are several deserts like Arizona desert . In USA the climate is really multifarious.
