Estonian War of Independence

When Germany surrendered to the Western Allies on November 11, 1918 a strategic vacuum arose in Eastern Europe. The new rulers of Russia the Bolsheviks decided to use it as a proper moment to re-conquer their lost territories. The ultimate goal was international communist revolution and Germany was the first standing on their way. Thus on November 13, 1918 the Government of Soviet Russia denounced peace with Germany. On November 16 the Commander-in-Chief of the Red Army, Jukums Vacietis, gave orders to start a massive attack on a long front from the Gulf of Finland to the Ukraine. On November 28, two divisions of the Red Army (altogether 12,000 troops) crossed the Estonian border. The War of Independence had begun. The situation of the Estonian Republic was rather desperate. Organizing of the army had just begun and less than 2,000 men could be sent to the front (without a single cannon). However,

After transporting the first group, he set out on his return journey to Galveston. It was then he met up with three vampire women: Maria, Nettie, and Lucy, all survivors of recently lost battles. Incapacitated by their beauty and his own sense of propriety, he was unable to run from them. Maria, a petite brunette and their leader, sensed that Jasper was special and turned him rather than kill him. Maria wanted to reclaim her territory, and built a newborn army, putting Jasper in charge of the others. His ability to control the emotions of those around him enabled him to build a large, lethal group of newborns that could work together. They were very successful. Jasper lived this life for decades, training, fighting with, and then disposing of the newborns. As the years wore on, the violence and hate took their toll on him, but Maria had told him that there was no other way.

Movie review

The actors were Amanda Seyfried as Savannah and Channing Tatum as John. I liked Seyfried before I saw that movie, because she can play different roles and I believe her. She is a really good actor, not like most of the Hollywood actors. Tatum I saw acting the first time but I liked him too. They were really good together. Seyfried played a rich Southern girl who doesn't drink, doesn't do drugs and is spending her spring rebuilding houses for the poor people. Tatum plays a guy from Army who meets Savannah in the beach when Savannah lost her bag into the sea and John goes after that bag. I liked all the scenes of the movie. They were really well made and it was never boring. Savannah and John were together only two weeks and they fell in love. Then Savannah had to go to school again and John had to leave to the army. They started to write letters to each other. At first John thought that he is away 12 month but then it turned out much longer.

Advantages and disadvantages of taking a cap year - essay

Many students take a gap year before going to university after graduating from high school to have a little longer holiday after being in school for twelve or more years. But, is it the best choice? What good or bad could that do? For sure one year makes a difference, it can make people lazier, but it can also give time to think about his/her future plans. There can be many reasons for a gap year: money, people go to work or some people go to the army for not taking a year for the army during studies in the university or just being tired of school. I think that a gap year is almost the only option for a young person to have a little rest, to enjoy young life, because life never becomes easier and the next chance to stretch out could be when we reach our pension time. To go on a bit longer holiday abroard with best friends is for sure expensive, but I think that it would be the time to remember. A gap year can change

Michael Morpurgo

Michael has written over 50 books - all different, all exciting - and he draws on a lot of his own experiences. He was sent away to boarding school, which he hated because he was homesick and because there was no privacy, and these are experiences that he draws on in The Butterfly Lion and The War of Jenkin's Ear. He didn't work especially hard at school but he was very good at games, and this helped him to keep out of trouble! When Michael left school he went into the army, which he also hated. He left as soon as he could and trained to be a teacher. Michael loved teaching, especially poetry, which he discovered through the poems of Ted Hughes. He stopped teaching to become a full-time writer when he started the farm. He writes sitting propped up on the bed, with a thin pen on lined paper which he fills as much as possible as he hates turning over and starting a new page! He hates rewriting stories and he hates making corrections.

"Ender's game"

Little attention is given to the details of this setting, not even the name of the city, and so it comes across as a standard American neighborhood. A shuttle is used as a background in the fourth chapter. It has small narrow corridors and the walls of the rooms were carpeted as floors. The importance of the shuttle is that Ender learned something about orientation in zero gravity and that knowledge helped him a lot later. Most of the time passes in Battle School, which is composed of army barracks with rows of bunk beds; dining halls one for soldiers and one for commanders, with scoreboards decorating both; the game room, with various video games for the children to play; battlerooms, where the children have practice and battles in zero gravity; and a gym with shower rooms, where Ender and Bonzo fight. There is also an area for teachers' quarters, which the children never go to, but it is presumably in this vicinity where the conversations between Graff and other

Edward the Confessor & Westminster Abbey

In 1045, he married Godwin's only daughter, Edith. Godwin was the most important nobleman in England. They had no children as Edward had taken a vow of celibacy. Even this marriage couldn't prevent a breach between Godwin and Edward in 1049. A number on Normans were killed in a scrap in Dover and Kent in 1051. Edward still had influential friends in Normandy and he wanted the people of Dover punhised for this. Edward asked Earl Godwin to be the punisher. After saying no to king he raised an army against Edward instead. The other two senior noblemen, the earls of Mercia and Northumbria, remained loyal to Edward. Later Edward outlawed Godwin and his family in Flanders. Between 1051 and 1052, Edward increased the number of Normans who advised him at court. Edward's continued favouritism caused problems with his nobles. In 1052 Godwin and his sons returned to England with an army. The army was commanded by his two sons Harold and Tostig.

cities. Most of these new towns and cities were in the north of England, where the raw materials for the industry were available. ✿ In the south of England, London came to dominate, not as an industrial centre but as a business and trading centre. By the end of the century, it had a population of close to a million. ✿ More than a thousand mansions were built in the eighteenth century. 1746 At the Battle of Culloden, a government army of English and lowland Scots defeats the highland army of Charles Edward, who, as the grandson of the last Stuart king, claimed the British throne. Although he made no attempt to protect his supporters from revenge afterward, he is still a popular romantic figure in the highlands, and is known as 'Bonnie Prince Charlie'. 1771 For the first time, Parliament allows written records of its debates to be published freely. 1782 James Watt invents the first steam engine. 1783

Famous castles of Scotland

has been a centre of military activity. As an ancient fortress Edinburgh Castle is one of the few that still has a military garrison, albeit for largely ceremonial and administrative purposes. The New Barrack Block is now home to the official headquarters of the Royal Regiment of Scotland and 52 Infantry Brigade, as well as home to the regimental museum of the Royal Scots and Royal Scots Dragoon Guards. The Governor of Edinburgh Castle is Major General David McDowall, GOC of the British Army's 2nd Division. The Governor of the Castle has always been the head of the Army in Scotland. Direct administration of the castle by the War Office only came to an end in 1923 when the army formally moved to the city's new Redford Barracks. Nevertheless, the Castle continues to have a strong connection with the Army. Sentries still stand watch at the castle gatehouse after opening hours, with responsibility for guarding the Honours of Scotland.
