Past Tenses

Past Continuous Used to say that somebody was in the middle of doing something at a certain time in the past. At 10:30 yesterday, I was preparing lessons. What were you doing at 6:30? Often used with Past Simple to show a continuing action interrupted by a sudden action in the past. I was studying when the phone rang. (Remember: there are some verbs that have no continuous know, believe, heat, etc.) Present Perfect Simple Used to talk about finished actions in an unfinished time period. I have eaten three cookies today (the cookies are finished but today isn't). I have cleaned my room this morning (the cleaning is finished, but it's still morning). Often the time period isn't mentioned. That means that it's the lifetime of the speaker. I have travelled to Europe (in my life). If the person is dead we can't use Present Perfect. Hitler has killed killed many people

or play computergames. Furthermore, some youth also prefer watching movies to reading, because a film is a lot easier to follow, reading a book is sometimes exhausting and tiring. But all that said, there is something about books, if a book is truly interesting, then something just forces you to read it, you read a page and you just have to know what comes next, what is going to happen, how will the story end. Page after page after page, until eventually without notice, you have finished the book. I think that reading can be a very enjoyable activity, but some people just do not want to read, there can be many different reasons why they do not want to read, although I personally think that the main reasons can be lack of free time or being forced to read, which makes it very difficult to pick up a book. I think that the printed word will never die because there is something about printed books that just invites you to read them and doesn't let you

In the spring of 1940, shortly before the forceful incorporation of Estonia into the Soviet Union, the last prewar art event tok place in Estonia the year of Kristjan Raud. That year was dedicated to the artist in connection with his 75th birthday. In the winter of 1942 a few months before his death Kristjan Raud finished his composition entitled The Return of Kalev asymbolic work in those complicated years when Soviet power alternated with German occupation. In my opinion was Kristjan Raud very important artist, because he was one of the first Estonian artists who is brave enough to try and make his career in his homeland in Estonia. However that he should know that he could fall through and his career will be finished. in addition war Kristjan Raud remarkable and outstanding artist who

News report

Two very clever burglars were arrested in the early hours of the morning. The incident occured in the alley behind Pearson's Electronics Shop, in the South Street. Joe Lee, 30, and Peeter Brown, 23, had just finished loading a van with thousands of pounds worth of electronics equipment when they were surrounded by policeman. The two men had been breaking into electronics shop in the Forest city area for several months. They had continuosly eluded police by cleverly disarming alarms and changing getaway vehicles. Captain Green of the police department said that they had been on burglars trail for some time now and that they had only been waiting for the right moment to catch them in the act.

School uniform

School uniform We dont have school uniform at our school. Good things about school uniform: 1. no bullying about dressing 2. 2. if you represent your school somewhere, olympics or something, its hounur, because you have the school uniform, that no otherschool have not. 3. When I wake up, then I don´t need to think what i wear today. Bad things about school uniform: 1. You get bored when you everyday wear same clothes. 2. The uniforms are so uncomfortable. 3. Uniforms make you feel contained like you're in jail or something. When my mother used to go to school, then she wear school uniform. She wear dark blue skirt and light blue shirt. Festiv shirt was white and everyone must wear scarf. When she finished school, school uniform would be no more.

Present perfect and Present perfect continious

Has he/she/it been working? 3 When to use the Present Perfect Continuous Present Perfect Continuous (Progressive) can refer to a range of meanings, depending on the time expression used and the context. • A state which lasts up to the present moment I've been waiting for you for three hours! • An incomplete activity I've been cleaning the house but I still haven't finished. • To emphasise duration I've been writing letters all morning. • A recently finished activity I've been running. That's why I look hot. • A repeated activity I've been taking French lessons this year. Contrasts with Present Perfect Simple There may be little contrast when some state verbs are used. How long have you lived here? How long have you been living here?

and 4x100 relay) and a silver in 100 m behind Ben Johnson. The Canadian sprinter was his opposite: ugly, short, poor, awful in the running style. But he was powerful: at start he always earned two - three meters of advantage on Carl. So 1988, year of The Olympic games of Seoul, opened under the challenge of these two men. When Carl won the trials with a windy 9"78 and then beat Johnson at Zurich he seemed to be a dangerous rival for the Canadian. However Johnson won again with 9"79 and Carl finished really far with 9"92. Then, while attaining his first gold in the long jump, Johnson was disqualified for drug abuse and so Carl became automatically Olympic champion and owner of the world record (9"92).
