Pros and cons of social networking

Social networking sites help students do better at school. It helps students browse quickly the information they need and not waste time on searching from millions of books. It helps students do homework faster and then they can have free time to do hobbies. It could also provide distance learning due to sickness or travelling. But in the other hand it’s bad because the internet enables the spread of unreliable and false information. Also people don’t read as much books if they get all the information from the internet. If students prefer internet to books, then schools would start using computers instead of books. Therefore students would not have any connections to books which could lead to people not interacting with themselves and again because of this people can’t interact with other people....

Home Schooling

pri.ee There is big different between home school and state school. The way how there are taught is different too. There are arguments both for an advantage and disadvantage. Firstly in home school parents have the freedom to decide what to teach. Furthermore they have the freedom to decide how to teach. Secondly parents can teach their children more than just facts and when children learning what interests them, it motivates them to learn even more. But on the other hand home schooling isn't the best way. In state schools are more children and they can speak between each other and it is helping in future. Moreover children learn how to judgement with others. In state schools child can do teamwork and it is very usefull. To sum up there are some good things and bad things in home schooling. But it seems to me that state school is better way, because when you grow up in society it is easier to move on....

Links between Estonia and English speaking countries

Three quarters of the world's mail is written in English and eighty per cent of the world's electronic information is stored in English. The biggest countries where English is spoken as the first language are: Great Britain, Canada, United States of America and Australia. Estonian on in comparison to English is a language that is spoken only by approximately 1 million people. On the other hand English in comparison to Estonian is a very young language. According to Wikipeia online dictionary, English is an Anglo-Frisian language brought to south-eastern Great Britain in the 5th century AD by Germanic settlers from various parts of northwest Germany (Saxons, Angles). Estonian in comparison is a language that has been spoken in the area of present day Estonia for more than 4000 years, Meri (1976). 4 First links...

"McAllister, I will raise your salary." The beard twitched. "Dash it, I'll double it!" The eyebrows flickered. "McAllister ... Angus ... " said Lord Emsworth in a low voice. "Come back! The pumpkin needs you." Lord Emsworth is the protagonist in the book. His full title is Clarence Threepwood, 9th Earl of Emsworth, and Viscount Bosham. Tallinn

Only a few town in northern Europe have medieval districts as well preserved as in Tallinn. It was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1997. The rest of the capital could be called the New Town, dating mainly from the 19th and 20th centuries. Tallinn is a mixture of the modern and the medieval where tradition goes hand in hand with the most recent trends. Its cross-cultural history has given the city a special charm. It has about 30 museums, 25 galleries and 15 exhibition halls. Among its many twin towns and partners are Helsinki in Finland, Schwerin and Kiel in Germany, Stockholm and Malmö in Sweden, Gent in Belgium, Venice in Italy and Odessa in the Ukraine. 2. Toompea For centuries Toompea was always inhabited by the ruling classes. In the Middle ages, it was the...

Travelling in the world

Some people only travel to learn history of other regions. Some countries have invested a lot of money to tourism. They try to make their country more attractive to tourists by building hotels. airports and tourist attractions. Doing this gets a lot of money to the travelling destination country. When a country wants to keep the tourists visiting their country they have to invest a lot of money and keep their country safe and attractive. On the other hand there are several bad sides on travelling. Some countries might be politically unstable and also dangerous for tourists. Sometimes people can catch a dangerous disease from an foreign country so they have to be prepared for that. There might also be a disaster that can seriously affect the popularity of the region. In conclusion I can say that travelling is a very fun and interesting thing to do when there is a chance and proper knowledge of the destination....

Capital punishment should be abolished

One of the reasons for not abolishing capital punishment are that a life long sentence is not as effective as execution, and that the death penalty affirms the right to life by punishing those who violate it in the most serious form. For example: death penalty should exist for serial killers. Another reason is that the criminals who would have been executed are now the country's responsibility and they use taxpayers' money. On the other hand , capital punishment is very inhumane. After the execution new evidence may appear and the criminal might turn out to be innocent but there is nothing to do because we can not bring back the dead. Another reason for abolishing capital punishment is the criminal's innocent family. The whole process can bring them serious trauma for years afterwards. In my opinion capital punishment should be abolished in Estonia because it is inhumane....

Education

Such is life. As for class size, I think kids in quantity learn better, on average, than isolated children. I would like my children to have many friends, not few. This, too, I see as obvious. I'd rather have a house full of mess-making kids, than just one, lonely and uninspired. On the other hand , perhaps a student could learn enormously more from a tutor than in a classroom packed with other students. Again, there must be an ideal ratio, plus age considerations, as well as the nature of the topic being taught, to consider. A pet peeve of mine is how competitive athletics play an excessive role in schools. Schools cannot limit their scope to mere teaching of abstractions, such as algebra and grammar. They...

Irish Potato Famine

Yet, this was not a catastrophe and people would pray for the next years' crop to be a proper one but it was even worse and on top of that, the winter of 1846 was the "severest in living memory". The crop, which previously had provided 60% of the nations' food needs, failed. Many families were evicted because they couldn't pay for their land. Hand in hand, starvation and diseases spreaded all across the country. As soon as spring began, people started emigrating to Canada - ships bringing lumber to England were glad to receive paying passengers. Almost every ship had a third of their passenger's die at sea or upon their arrival. On the shores of Quebec eyewitnesses saw hundreds literally flung on the beach, left in the mud, dying. Yet, it was only the potato crop that failed wheat, oats, pork, mutton etc. were excellent,...

The effects of mobile phones on our lives

The effects of mobile phones on our lives Can you imagine our comfortable life without mobile phones? Wherever we go, we can see someone talking with their mobile phone. Mobile phones have become an indispensable part of our everyday life. Yet, have the changes they brought about really been for the better? To begin with, the benefits of mobile phones cannot be denied. On the one hand mobile phones are extremely useful communication tool. Mobile phones can help us wherever we need it. Nokia Report

Therefore Nokia has a lot to teach other businesses. I would like to draw attention to Nokia's vision and strategy. Nokia has an interesting idea of competition with other telecommunication firms. Nokia's main focus is on its own products and its own strategy and vision. This kind of strategy has worked because Nokia is the number one manufacturer of telephones. On the other hand Nokia has won the heart of many phone users by staying to its brand and always making products that are customer-friendly. I have also used Nokia's phones and its other products such as televisions and I will stay loyal to this company because of the simplicity and quality they 6 offer its clients. Nokia's products are directed to its customers by improving its design,...

The Life of Dante, the Inferno of Dante

An example of Dante's ability to tell so much in one single word was expressed by Tate when he cited the word "ombre" which translates "shades," to remind us of the continuity of the Christian Hell and Virgil's pagan Hades. "Shades" are referred to as three-dimensional bodies, able to feel pain as if they were alive in solid ice and immobile, yet to have the intensity of fire. If Dante had tried to touch one of them, his hand would have met no physical resistance since the shades would melt into the air. Tate stands in awe of Dante's abilities to express such a large concept or picture in so few words. He says, "I believe we all wish we had been able not only to write better poems, but poems that say much more than we have been able to say, while at the same time seeming to say less."(452) In 1953, Jacques Maritain, a French philosopher, theologian, educator,...
