Introduction
I chose Princess Diana, because I wanted to know about her and I like the British royal family and she was a part of the family, too. She is dead and if somebody reads it, he or she can learn about her and will know what she was like. The purpose of the work is to introduce Diana and get to know her better.

Charity

Starting in the mid - to late 1980s, the Princess of Wales became increasingly known for her support of numerous charities . Diana, however , developed an interest in serious illnesses and health-related matters outside the purview of traditional royal involvement, including AIDS and leprosy. In addition, the Princess patronised charities and organisations working with the homeless , youth, drug addicts and the elderly. From 1989, she was the President of Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children . Diana was mostly known, in the last year of her life, as the most visible supporter of the International Campaign to Ban Landmines, a campaign that went on to win the Nobel Peace Prize in 1997 after her death .
In April 1987, the Princess of Wales was one of the first public figures to be photographed touching a person infected with HIV. She contributed to changing the public opinion of AIDS sufferers during the subsequent years, as her involvement with a variety of AIDS charities, not only in the United Kingdom but in North America, Africa and Asia as well, was a consistent public role she embraced.

Relationship with Prince Charles
Prince Charles had known Diana for several years, but he first took a serious interest in her during the summer of 1980, when they were guests at a country weekend. The relationship developed as he invited her for a sailing weekend to Cowes. The prince proposed on 6 February 1981, and Diana accepted, but their engagement was kept secret for the next few weeks.
Their engagement became official on the 24th February, 1981, after Diana selected a large £30,000 ring consisting of 14 diamonds surrounding a sapphire, similar to her mother's engagement ring. The 20-year-old became The Princess of Wales when she married Charles on 29 July 1981 at St Paul's Cathedral. It was watched by a global television audience of 750 million. At the altar Diana accidentally reversed the order of Charles's names , saying Philip Charles Arthur George instead. The ceremony began at 11:20 A.M. and Diana wore a dress valued at £9000 with 25 foot train.
On 5 November 1981, Diana's first pregnancy was officially announced, and she frankly discussed her pregnancy with members of the press corps. In the private Lindo wing of St. Mary's Hospital, Paddington on 21 June 1982, Diana gave birth to her first son and heir, William. A second son, Harry, was born a little over two years after William on 15 September 1984. According to Diana, she and Prince Charles were closest during her pregnancy with "Harry". She was aware their second child was a boy, but did not share the knowledge with anyone else, including Prince Charles, who was hoping for a girl. Prince Charles
Divorce
In the early 1990s, the marriage of Diana and Charles fell apart. Both the Prince and Princess of Wales allegedly spoke to the press through friends , each blaming the other for the marriage's demise. Charles resumed his old, pre-marital affair with Camilla Parker -Bowles. During the Panorama television interview , shown on 20 November 1995, Diana confirmed she had an affair with her riding instructor, James Hewitt. In October 1993 Diana wrote to a friend that she believed her husband was now in love with Tiggy Legge-Bourke and wanted to marry her. On 20 December 1995, Buckingham Palace publicly announced the Queen had sent letters to Charles and Diana advising them to divorce. Prince Charles immediately agreed with the suggestion . In February Diana announced her agreement. The divorce was finalised on 28 August 1996.
Charles and his family gave Diana £ 17 million. She was allowed to keep her jewellery, including personal gifts to Diana. She remained the bearer of the three Orders which Queen Elizabeth had lent her. Her office where she organised her charitable work was supported by £300 000 yearly . She is allowed to remain living in Kensington Palace until William and Henry come of age. The custody of the children is shared by both parents, as is common in England.  Besides this, Diana was allowed to keep using the title "Princess of Wales".

Accident
It was Saturday, 30th August 1997, when Princess Diana’s and Dodi Al-Fayed’s holiday came to end, and they wanted to go home. The pair didn't, however fly directly to London. They still wanted to enjoy one or two days in Paris. They were in town until the evening when they went to Ritz hotel , which belongs to Dodi’s father. After the dinner at Ritz hotel they wanted to go to Dodi’s private villa. They tried to avoid the journalists and even changed the car. There were two bodyguards sitting in the front and Dodi and Diana sitting in the back of the car. Somehow photographers still followed them.
They were followed by photographers on motorbikes. Henri Paul, the driver , gave gas. When the speed limit was 80km/h, then he drove at 180km/h. Shortly after the entrance to the tunnel he completely lost control over the car. The car skidded, lurched from side to side and finally crashed at high speed into the 13th concrete post. Nobody in the car wore a seatbelt.
The driver and Dodi died immediately. The second bodyguard was in critical position and unconscious. Diana made rowing movements with her arms, when injured people do this, it means that they are not receiving enough oxygen . On the second carriageway was driving a doctor Frederic Maillez. When he saw the accident, he stopped his car, took his emergency bag and ran to help the victims. He gave bodyguard medical attention and went to Diana. He laid oxygen mask to Diana’s mouth. The ambulance was meanwhile underway. It took almost an hour until the victims could be taken out of the wreck. The car had to be first cut open using metal shears. Diana was taken to hospital and she had massive inner bleeding. Doctors managed to close it, but suddenly Diana’s heart stopped working. Doctors tried to bring the Princess back using heart massage, but they couldn’t. Diana was dead. The Princess of Wales died on 31st August 1997 at 3.57 am.
After The Accident
After the accident many questions were raised. Why did they crash? Was it organised? Was the driver drunk? And many more questions. Medics told that he had 1, 75 millilitres of alcohol in his blood . That is the same as about eight whiskies and this is three times more than it is legal in France . But that wasn’t all. They also detect traces of drugs in his blood. But when they watched video tapes, bodyguard didn’t sway and how was it so, that others didn’t notice that he was drunk. Why didn’t they wear seatbelts and tell the driver to slow down. That was all very confusing and everyone had their own idea . Some thought that Henri Paul had elaborated conspiracy with paparazzis and other that MI6 was involved. One group thought that some kind of bright flash blinded the driver for a moment and he crashed. Other think that James Anderson rammed the car with white Fiat Uno, because on Mercedes’, on the car in which Diana was, were white traces and James Anderson killed himself in 2000. Nobody knows what really happened, but in November 1998 police revealed a report which said that it was a normal tragic accident. It revealed that the speed of the car was 100 km/h, so it was slower as it was presumed before. There was also said that Henri Paul was drunk when he crashed.

Conclusion
All in all, Princess Diana died too early. It was a big loss to the world. She did so much good to the world and that was her reward? Now we can say again that world isn’t fair . Now I know what was Princess Diana like and if somebody reads it, he or she can also study about her.

continuity within the Commonwealth of Nations, the member countries of which she frequently visited along with her husband. In 1992 a series of disasters struck the royal family, with a damaging fire in the state apartments at Windsor Castle, and the announcement of the formal separation of Prince Charles from his wife Diana, Princess of Wales, and of Prince Andrew from his wife, Sarah. In the same year, Elizabeth made private enquiries about the possibility of paying a voluntary tax on her personal income, and in February 1993 the government duly announced that she would be subject to normal tax rules. In December 1995 Elizabeth wrote to Prince Charles and Princess Diana urging them to divorce, following the Princess's public statements about their marriage, which led to formal divorce proceedings being instituted

Dissensions in Buckingham Palace The Queen movie was uninteresting at first, but when I delved into the movie it got very interesting. The Queen was about Queen Elizabeth II reaction to the death of Princess Diana. Film was based on actual events and included a lot of tragedy, emotions and sadness. Just as Tony Blair was moving into 10 Downing Street, Princess Diana died in a Paris car wreck. England went into traumatized mourning deeper than anyone could have predicted. On the contrary, the royal family -- Diana's estranged former inlaws -- offered no public reaction at all. As resentment toward the royal cold shoulder built into a monarchical crisis of public opinion, young Mr. Blair intervened with the Queen until finally the House of Windsor made a public demonstration of something like humanity. The film showed me the life of the royal family
