Seven days

Seven days It was three o'clock in the morning when the phone rang. I was still sleepy when I answered with a furious tone: ,,What is it? Do you even know what freaking time is it? It's 3 in the morning. Why aren't you sleeping?" Suddenly I heard a voice that told me: ,,Seven days!" and after that just beep beep beep. At first I thought it's just some stupid joke but I got frightened and I couldn't even get any sleep. I creeped downstairs looking after my shoulder from time to time because I had this feeling someone was watching me and when I looked after the window I saw someone standing in the dark alley. That seriously creeped me out! I suddenly remembered that creepy movie called ,,The Ring".

Filmianalüüs

Filmianalüüs (500) Days of Summer/ (500) Päeva Armastust Film rääkis noorest mehest, kes arvas end oma eluarmastuse leidnud olevat. Tüdruk, kellesse poiss armus, polnud just kõige "lihtsam" ning tekitas poisi ellu suurt segadust.

People these days are thinking less and drinking more

"People these days are thinking less and drinking more'' Nowadays, alcoholism is rising and this is a big problem not only amongst teenagers but also amongst adults. When there is a problem or a difficult situation people do not think how can they solve it. They think, "Where is my bottle of vodka?'' There are several possible solutions to this problem. What clearly needs to be done is to encourage people to handle their problems without using alcohol. Firstly, we have to teach them that thinking clearly is more effective than thinking with an alcohol bottle. Secondly, we should tell them that they have got supportive friends whom they can rely on. Another suggestion is that the media should not promote drinking. Commercials are very effective with teenagers because commercials are very colourful and memorable. Also, when teenagers see some beautiful advertisement with lots of people who are having a party with drin...

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving Day. On this day Americans give thanks for the blessings they have enjoyed during the year. Thanksgiving is usually a family day, celebrated with big dinners. The first American Thanksgiving was held in Plymouth. The Puritans from England came to America because they were unappreciated. They were called the Pilgrims. They came to America on a ship called Mayflower. September was the worst season of the year for sea crossing. After 65 days they landed at Cape Cod. The Pilgrims suffered a great deal during their first winter, because they were poorly equipped and poorly trained. One spring morning an Indian came and introduced him in a friendly way. The Indian chief offered assistance to the pilgrims and the Indians thought the Pilgrims how to hunt, fish, and grow food. Because of this help they had a good harvest every year. Governor William Bradford invited the Pilgrims and the

Letter about my recent health problem

3 March 2012 Dear Jane, How are you? I haven't heard from you in a while. I am writing to tell you about my recent health problem I had food poisoning. I got it when I visited Mexico. I ate something that probably caused it. I am not really sure what it was. I had to drink plenty of fluids and rest a lot. I was down with that poisioning for two days. On the third day I could finally turn back to my normal life and start eating again. That poisoning was very terrible. I felt extremely bad and mostly I was sad about ruining my vacation. For at least two days I couldn't enjoy Mexico. That is all for now. Let me know if your health is okay. I hope I'll hear from you soon. Love, Mari

After being in isolation for only two days a realization hit me. I realized that everything that I took for granted was going to change. As many other, I didn’t thought that Estonia is going to suffer greatly from the virus outbreak and everything is going to proceed as usual. Life goes on. But it doesn’t. I became aware of the problem after my sister and I had a talk about immunity. I myself have lived many years with runny nose and I don’t worry too much about it but I really never thought about my little sister and mom

Estonian holidays, festivals, cultural events

Holidays, Festivals, Cultural events TALLINN - If you're looking for entertainment in Estonia this summer, you are really spoiled for choice. Festivals and events dedicated to the consumption of beer are a lot of fun, but if you want to get the true feel of the country, you need something a little more ethnic. Like a town fair. Just as July becomes August, the seaside town of Haapsalu will host a grand spectacle of rural Estonian entertainment. The White Lady Days is a summer celebration filled with amusement for all the family. Held in and around the remains of the Teutonic-knights-era castles, the fair combines enchanting medieval legends with modern countryside charm to create a comprehensive experience of Estonia beyond the big cities. But the legend of the White Lady of Haapsalu, which is at the heart of the festival, is perhaps the most famous tall tale of the many that are so abundant in Estonia's folklore.

Estonian national holidays

Independence Day is celebrated with victory parade, flag raising and speeches , but some famililies have a lavish feast and parents talk to their children that how and when Estonia got independence. Many of people just watch victory parade from TV. On this day people are very calm and they enjoy to be Estonians. St. John's Day In Estonia, aside from Christmas, St John's Day is the most important days in the calendar. The short summer seasons with long days and brief nights hold special significance for the people of Estonia. St John's Day is celebrated in the night between 23rd and 24th of June, a few days after the summer solstice, when night seems to be nonexistent. For Estonians, Jaanipäev celebrations were merged with the celebration of Victory Day during the War of Independence when Estonian forces defeated the German troops on 23 June 1919. celebrations as well as executions. Today the square remains a cultural focal point for the city. In summer, it's filled with outdoor cafés and is home to countless openair concerts, handicraft fairs and medieval markets. In winter, an annual Christmas Market enchants the crowds on the square, as does the town's Christmas tree (a tradition whose roots stretch back to 1441), which stays up for a month or more. Town Hall Square has also become the traditional centre of the Old Town Days festival, a modern version of a medieval carnival. Traditions from the Middle Ages are kept alive here, including parades, a knights' tournament, a parrotshooting contest and the election of the May Count. Tallinn`s late Gothic Town Hall building is one of the most famed symbols of the city, recognized throughout Estonia as a venerable, unique architectural treasure. The Town Hall was established on the central square, probably at the beginning of 13th century. In

Mardi Gras

Mardi Gras in the USA Mardi Gras, from the French words meaning "Fat Tuesday," combines religious tradition with a carnival or festival to welcome spring. It is also called Shove Tuesday or Pancake Day (in UK pancakes have an important role in celebrating Mardi Gras). Mardi Gras is the final day of Carnival- a festival season. Carnival begins 12 days after Christmas on January 6 and ends on Mardi Gras, which always falls exactly 47 days before Easter. The date of Mardi Gras changes every year. In the year 2008 it is on the 5th of February. "Fat Tuesday" is also the last day that Catholics can eat meat before Lent, the forty-day period of fasting before Easter The cities most famous for their Mardi Gras celebrations include New Orleans, Louisiana; Venice, Italy; and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Many other places have important Mardi Gras celebrations as well.
