Report: Suggested improvements to the shop

To: Tim Burton From: Ester Kängsepp Subject: Suggested improvements to the shop Date: 28th Feb 2013 1) Purpose The purpose of this report is to suggest ways to make the shop more profitable. 2) Shop condition The shop condition is at this moment very bad. Shop has lost many customers and it has changed a lot lately- has become not so attractive like it used to be and income has decreased because of that. Firstly, it would be a good idea to make some flayers about the shop’s planned changes. 3) Shop’s apperance Secondly, I think it would be useful to refresh shop’s appearance. Paint it all over again and redecorate the interior. Customers would like that and it will invite new people to the shop. 4) Increasing the shop’s income Finally, we could organize market days, when the prices are low and there are a lot of different goods. This is the way, how to get people to the shop and it will increase the income

Pet therapy

Pet therapy.  A kind of treatment designed to stimulate people who are withdrawn or uncommunicative has recently been given a new name: pet therapy. It has given difficult children, lonely old people and even anti-social prisoners a completely new outlook on life  Even though pet therapy is only now being widely used, it is not a new idea. In the eighteenth century an English doctor, William Tuke, filled the grounds of a hospital for mentally disturbed people with chickens, rabbits and goats. At a time when people were usually punished for strange behavior rather than helped, this was a radical new approach to treating the mentally disturbed. Tuke's idea was that patients could learn self-control by caring for creatures weaker than themselves.  This is an idea which has persisted

She promised yesterday to her 10-years old daughter that she will watch a movie with her and now Sally didn't know what to do, her agreeing was just a slip of the tongue. In the evening, when she reached to home from work, she lied and said to her daughter that she can't stay at home because she have to work. She hadn't had no idea what she would wear, she put on a beautiful dress and crossed her fingers that Michael will like it. Then she thought that she had enough time to have a cup of coffee before Michael pick her up but then she spilled her coffee on her dress. She had been all thumbs all day. She thought it will be better to call the date off but on the other hand it will add fuel to the fire. Sally changed her dress and wait Michael to come over.

Speech: Ideas are our greatest weapons

Speech: Ideas are our greatest weapons Hello class and classmates, I would like to open up my speech with a quote that I find really amazing: „The pen is mightier than the sword”. Sadly I don't know whose it is, but it means, that not every war has to be fought with swords and weapons, coming up with an idea about something that isn't violent might be a lot easier way to conquer in life. I think that all of you know that every tool, weapon, Everything that surrounds us, has started with an idea. That shouldn't be new for you. Some people might find it hard to believe, but even the most common things- like chairs, walls, even a pack of bread has been an idea once. Someone had probably felt that his or her legs got tired and sitting on floor might not be so comfortable, so one chose to invent a chair. Think of it- even floor, where people used to sit before chairs were invented is certainly someone's idea and invention. Isn't it strange to think like that?

Hello. This is Jana Raudsepp speaking. Hello Jana. What can we do for You. Well, I´ve been thinking about saving our city. Okay, what do You exactly mean with this ? Well, our city has a lack of fresh air in some places, and i think we should do something. I agree with You, Jana. So, what´s your idea? I think, we should make car-free zones in places with heavy traffic for example citycenter. You have a great idea, Jana. Thats actually worth discussing with mayor. I think, that would be good idea, if we start a petition and collect signatures against travelling with car in citycenter. But what about service vechicles and public trasnport ? These will be still allowed. This will be the fastest way to travel in citycenter. I also tought so. Perhaps You have some more good ideas ? Let me think... Yes, I do. Speak ,Jana, I´ll listen and write them also down. I think, city should build a big parking house or parking lots near to citycenter, where

Fame is a Fickle Food

"Fame is a Fickle Food" by Emily Dickinson Analysis Liisi Pajula In her poem "Fame is a Fickle Food", Emily Dickinson quite clearly compares fame to something very changing and uncertain. She compares it to food, which at first seems tempting, but is actually venomous and deadly. From the very beginning of the poem, we get the idea that Dickinson has her mind set against fame and those, who run after it. With using words such as 'fickle' and 'shifting' she very successfully demonstrates that fame is not permanent and should thus be handled with care. Dickinson also says that true fame is something one can achieve only once ("Whose table once a Guest, but not / The second time is set"). She goes on to explain that after fame has faded, its not too pleasant insides become visible and

The Universe according to Douglas Adams

The Universe is truly a magnificent phenomenon. It has remained unfathomable throughout history. Even in the Modern Era, where so much has already been achieved, we lack complete and certain answers to a plethora of questions about the Universe. Luckily, Douglas Adams already seems to have that covered in his book "Life, the Universe and Everything", which is the third installment in the series "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy". Initially, Adams describes the idea of time travel. In real world physics, the concept has a very limited application. Yet according to him, most of the theory on time travel is incomprehensible to anyone who has not spent at least four lifetimes studying advanced hypermathematics, and since it was impossible to do this before time travel was invented, there is a certain amount of confusion as to how the idea was arrived at in the first place (113). Flight was a recurring theme in the novel

Slumdog Milionaire Robi Kivi LGA18 Describe at least ONE idea that was worth learning about in the text. Explain why the idea was worth learning about in the text as a whole, using examples of visual and / or oral language features to support your ideas. In Slumdog Millionaire directed by Danny Boyle "Love conquers all" is an idea worth learning about. Boyle uses cinematography, dialogue & gesture and flashbacks to show this. Love conquers all is an idea worth learning about because you may come across it in many texts, it's a universal idea and it's appealing to us as an audience. Love conquers all is the common theme in the texts, especially those which feature young love. Other texts such as the well-known play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, to the novel feed by M.T Anderson and even music such as Right by my Side by Nicki Minaj featuring Chris Brown all include this common theme of Love conquers all. The Essay Writing Manual Brain Storming The process of writing the application essay can be broken into five very basic parts: Brainstorming Selecting the essay topic Writing the essay Revising the essay Coming up with the final draft 1. BRAINSTORMING: Brainstorming is the process of coming up with ideas spontaneously from free flowing writing or talking. To brainstorm, you can simply sit down with a pen and jot down every idea that comes into your head. Another approach is to simply start writing and see where you end up. Record as much information as you can recall, such as schools attended, courses taken, jobs held, research projects undertaken. Work on taking yourself deeper into the introspection process by tackling more specific topics. Here are some questions you might want to consider: What am I like? How do my friends characterize me? What are my personality traits?

History of Gillette Razors

History of Gillette Razors On November 15, 1904, patent was granted to King C. Gillette for a safety 'razor'. In 1895, after several years of considering and rejecting possible inventions, Gillette suddenly had a brilliant idea while shaving one morning. It was an entirely new razor and blade that flashed in his mind --a razor with a safe, inexpensive, and disposable blade. It took six years for Gillette's idea to evolve. During that time, technical experts told Gillette that it would be impossible to produce steel that was hard, thin, and inexpensive enough for commercial development of the disposable razor blade. Then in 1901, MIT graduate William Nickerson agreed to try. By 1903, he had succeeded.

Letter to editor

Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing to express my disapproval of the Westwale Councils decision to sell the land of the Longheath Park. In my opinion, this is a terrible idea which will have many disadvantages for our town. Firstly, if the park is sold to the property developer, he will built an estate of 50 houses on the land. As a result, there will be no open spaces left. Therefore, children will not have a chance to play freely, and people will have nowhere to walk their dogs or ride their bikes. Secondly, there will be less green areas in town. Obviously, this will be very unhealthy, as people need fresh air and natural surroundings for good health.

How can we reduce air pollution levels in our cities?

How can we reduce air pollution levels in our cities? Is the air in our cities clean? Unfortunately does not seem like it. Air is getting more polluted every day and we are constantly breathing that air. We need to do something fast before it is too late. Firstly, there is too much traffic in the city centre and cars emit bad fumes. A good idea would be to introduce parking and riding schemes. In this way there will be fewer cars in the city centre and in longer perspective air will get a lot cleaner. Another problem are factories polluting the air. There are so many factories that there is always smoke covering the city. It would help if we could create industrial parks. In this way less smoke will cover the city. Also a big issue is rubbish being burned. It would be a good idea to introduce a recycling scheme

An Invention

Mobile phones have brought about a dramatic change to the communication industry. The development of mobile phones has made long-distance communication a matter of seconds. The mobile phone was invented in 1973 by Dr. Martin Cooper, a Motorola employee. On April 3, 1973, the first cell phone call was made. The caller was naturally, Dr. Cooper himself. Prior to the development of mobile phones, people used two-way radios to communicate while they were mobile. The idea behind two-way radios gave rise to the invention of mobile phones. During the 1940s, Motorola came up with the Walkie-Talkie followed by handheld two-way radios that operated on battery power. In 1947, Douglas Ring and W. Rae Young at Bell Labs introduced the idea of hexagonal cells for mobile phones. Ericsson came up with an automatic mobile phone system, which was released in Sweden in 1956. The drawback of this system was that the phones weighed 40 kg´s

Electronic devices in the classroom: For and against

Electronic devices in the classroom: For and against This is a very difficult question if the electronic devices are good or bad things in the classroom. When I made a list of the pluses and minuses I found that the electronic devices are a very bad idea. The advantages are that children can easily find information and lessons are more interesting. Teachers can show different pictures, movies and other such things. If students do not know the answer they can easily search for it from the internet. Most of the programs are in English and I think thanks to that students vocabulary expands considerably. The disadvantages are that electronic devices ruin children eyes and they are 24/7 behind the computer or social media

experience. Studying abroad helps students become more mature and resilient and these qualities are priceless in the workplace. Unfortunately there are many disadvantages to being an exchange student as well. Consider the difficulties you may face learning to study in a completely different environment, especially if your classes are in another language. If you're not a strong student to begin with, studying abroad might not be a good idea. This experience might also give you a culture shock. It is tough to enter a new culture and the experience of coming back might me surprisingly difficult as well, it is called re-entry shock. Some people take this harder than the others, so everyone needs to be realistic about themselves. Being an exchange student might also be a bad idea if you have special circumstances at home, such as a terminally sick relative or a romantic partner. Many students and their parents are in the position that every school should permit computers for their students. Is this a good idea if every student at school has their own computer what they can use in lesson? In my opinion having computers in our English class is very good idea. There is a lot of reasons why. Firstly, our textbooks and worksbooks are compiled that method that there are some excercises which we will have to check from internet like all kind of searching tasks what expect us to use Internet. The future seems dark. - 2012

2012 is a hoax, and that no Mayan calendar points to the end of the world on December 21, 2012. This is somewhat misleading. While Mayans do not believe the world will end on 2012, many do believe that there will be a massive event, which will change the way we experience reality. What that actually is, however, is anyone's guess. There are many Christians who believe the coming of Christ will happen within their lifetime. This idea shouldn't be discounted immediately, but it does not necessarily mean the Jesus we understand in Western culture will come sailing down from the sky. If we consider that Jesus was a manifestation of God, it's possible that Christ may return embodied in another form. It's possible that all the differing theories about 2012 may all be about the same event, and have just been interpreted in different ways. For this reason, it's important we don't commit

becoming a vampire; he is determined that Bella's decision should be unforced. Bella asks Edward why he doesn't want her to be a vampire, thinking it has to do with the fact that she will no longer be soft and warm and tempting. Edward laughs and reassures her that she'll be the same girl he has always loved -- just a little more durable. In spite of the human aspects that he will miss, he tells her it will mostly be a relief not to have to worry about killing her. But he hates the idea of changing her because staying human would be such a better choice for her. It seems criminally selfish to him to allow her to become a vampire (and possibly lose her soul) just so he can keep her forever. If there were any way for him to become human for her he'd do it, whatever the cost. To Bella's horror, Edward then asks Bella why she won't marry him. After many evasions, she admits that she finds the idea of getting married straight out of high school embarrassing and ridiculous

BABA IS YOU

Baba is You, developed by Hempuli Oy, is a sokoban-pushing puzzle game with a twist of rules manipulation. In this 2D game, the internal rules are presented as pushable blocks and you main goal is to push these blocks around and then combine these words to form new rules to solve puzzles. Unlike other puzzle games that require you to follow rules to complete levels, Baba is You encourages you to break rules and also gives you enough freedom to create new rules to level up. I know, the idea sounds really interesting and smart! The game doesn’t have too many instructions and it only has characters and corresponding objects on each stage. Players may be confused about how to play the game at first, but once you get deeper into the game and learn the game in practice, you will find the game has a lot of charm. We can see the little bunny Baba, three rocks, a yellow flag and four rules in the first stage. [BABA] IS [YOU] [FLAG] IS [WIN] [WALL] IS [STOP] [ROCK] IS [PUSH]

Näidendi arvustus ,,Otsast alates"

" This musical was devoted to the 90th birthday of Georg Ots' Music school. Reet Toot has described her play as a ,,Musical history" in two surveys. Although everything in this play was really special, the most important thing was that all the actors were young people. Most of them are students in the birthday school. The play ,,Right from the tip" was played at the Estonian Puppet theater in February. The idea to make a musical out of the music school history came from one of the school's teatcher, Siim Aimla. He introduced his idea to the producer, Reet Toot. That's where the historical musical started. All the actors were really profeccional. It was a quit.e big suprise, because they were all very young. At this play there were two first actors Terje Pennie and Anti Kobin who played the students of music school. The action took place in very many different places and during many different years.

The Advantages and Disadvantages of City Living and Country Living I think that both City Living and Country Living has disadvantages and advantages, first of all it depends only of the person. Every person has their own taste and idea of the world that they live in. For example, I like living in city, but I have also a friend, who thinks that living in country is good for her health and mind, which is why she approves it. However, some people, who approves living in country still lives in city. dullest school-leavers. Although math and etc. does not seem to be connected to any daily life situations, yet when groups of students delve into projects that demand critical thinking they also are developing their social skills and cooperation with other people. Everyone knows that when studying is fun the time passes more quickly and the brain records more information which is also easier to access. Lastly, the idea of a learning experience like this looks good on paper but problems can occur. There are just too many variables - the teacher might not be prepared to deal with this hands-on type of work. This system could only work if the subjects synchronize perfectly. For example if there is a stumble in math the whole integrated course might suffer. To conclude, I believe the idea of integrating subjects is risky and could even be bad for the

There are many good sides in teamwork, like people can pool their skills together and than it's generally more productive but when work individually person has he is own ideas. No idea is a bad idea when person is working alone. It's an amazing feeling when person can create his owns ideas or do whatever his heart desires. There is only one, with own ideas and trust in his own decision making. Of course, person will be fully responsible for the outcome. The common goal in teamwork is good for morale and fosters team spirit but in individual work person can't get help from others or be appreciated by others for ideas.

Housing

flatdwellers has been unsuccessful. Law and custom seem to support a clear separation between public and private. People who lives in public domain also have a lot of restrictions and dutyes. People who lives in the private property have no restriction for own property and it shows exactly where the private property begins. The importance of "home" British people have little deeprooted attachment to their house as an object, or to the land on which it stands. It is the abstract idea of "home" which is important, not the building. This will be sold when the time and price is right. The houses themselves are just investments. Another is the fact that it is extremely rare for people to commission the building of their own houses. This notion of houses principally as investment leads to a strange approach toward house prices. Individuality and conformity Flats are not unpopular just because they do not give enough privacy.

My ideal school

Classes would be limited to fifteen students, a size small enough to allow individual attention but large enough to furnish the feeling of belonging to a group. Creative projects would be the cornerstone of the curriculum, incorporating all the life skills that make this method of education unique. The class would be presented with a number of ideas at the beginning of each project, and would also have the option of coming up with their own idea. Some examples are raising money to donate to a charity, creating an anthology of short stories to be bound and published, starting a website, writing and recording an original song, and patenting a new idea. Because of the amount of coordination required for each project, both successes and failures would inevitably spring up along the way, giving the children a meaningful experience of what it is like to work on a real-world project. The teacher would

Technology has dramatically changed leisure and hobbies

other. Nowadays technological tools are killing off leisure time, especially for younger workers and students, who are working longer hours, taking fewer and shorter vacations but still bringing their cell phones and laptops along. Constantly in health magazines are headlines like „Too much stress“ or „Stress is killing people“. It is like that because the boundaries between work and play are blurred. Computing and communications technologies are destroying the idea of privacy and leisure. Nowadays some youngsters can say that their hobby is playing computer games or reading iBooks. Since computer came along teenager would rather spend their time on the computer or playstation than spending time outside. As time has changed, hobbies have changed, for example playing virtual tennis in Wii or watching sports from TV is considered as normal workout. Although photography is an old hobby, modern technology has changed the whole idea of it

Tolerance.

Tolerance Ladies and gentlemen, before I move to my actual topic, think with me for a second on this scenario... A black exchange student from Kenya comes to our school and you see him getting beaten up by a bunch of bullies without no apparent reason, what would you do? More then a few of us pretend as if they had not seen anything. I myself would feel awful, but I wouldn't know what to do either. Although I would condone myself with the idea, that life is difficult and it's just something you have to deal with. But does tolerance mean that all manners should be accepted? No, of course not. Manners that disrespect or hurt others, like being mean or bullying, or manners that break social rules, like lying or stealing, should not be tolerated. Tolerance is about accepting people for who they are -- not about accepting bad behavior. Tolerance also means treating others the way you would like to be treated.

Marijuana Facts For Teens artikkel

Marijuana Facts For Teens Marijuana is one of the most popular drugs among teenagers because most teens don't consider it to be harmful. This idea that marijuana is harmless is a very common misconception among teens. Teens use marijuana because it is a great way to relax and just chill out with friends, but most teens aren't aware of the risks associated with marijuana use. Teens may think that marijuana isn't dangerous because it's not a "hard" drug like cocaine or heroin, but what they don't know is that marijuana has its own set of dangers.

Money

money is, their major concern is how much they have, and how to get more. However, it is highly debatable whether it is more important than other considerations, such as health and happiness, which some people consider to be of greater significance. We use money every day to pay for things we buy. We can pay with either coins or paper. This sort of money is known as cash. But there is also another kind of money, like checks, credit cards and so on. The idea of having such thing as money is one of the most best developed by man. I think many people do not know where this idea came from, and why money is valuable. As I know thousand years ago, money was not used. People who wanted to exchange something found that it was sometimes difficult to find someone who had exactly what they wanted and who at the same time wanted exactly what they had to exchange. In order to make exchanges easier, the

"Career and Employment" Homereading

The 10 most popular second careers Four years ago Clare Stokes, 34, worked as a pharmacist. Today, she's a florist "I used to be a full-time pharmacist and ran pharmacies for Boots. I enjoyed it but realised I needed something to help me switch off from the day-to-day stresses of the job. So I studied floristry at night school and after three years, I qualified as a florist. It so happened that a florist shop came up for sale in my area and I couldn't resist the idea of running it. So I bought it, took on the existing staff and I haven't looked back. I think a lot of people are creative. Once they find an outlet for it, they find they want to do it all the time. But it's not just the creative side of my new career that I love. I also enjoy the contact with people and the business side. Some days I don't make as much money as others, but generally it's going well. Then there's the complete lack of stress. These days, I go home feeling relaxed.
