The Secret Life of Bees

The Secret Life of Bees I watched the movie The Secret Life of Bees. I chose this movie because I am currently reading the book and I like the book very much. So I wanted to know if the movie is also good. The book was written by Sue Monk Kidd and the movie was a adapted version of it. As well as the book the synopsis is set in 1964 in South Carolina. The movie is mostly about a 14 year-old girl named Lily who is haunted by the memory of her late mother. And to escape the lonely and sad life that she has with her father she flees with Rosaleen and they fled to a town in South Carolina. There they start to work in the honey industry. Lily also meets Zach there. The movie was very interesting to me and a bit different form the book. I think that the casting was done great and many of the characters were exactly how I imagined them to be. The movie was really good and I would recommend it highly.

A day out to remember

A day out to remember It was a sunny summer day. I woke up, like always, brushed my teeth and went to eat. After all that, I chill in my computer, chat with friends and just watched TV. I had a phone call, I was a little bit surprised because it was my old friend with who I didn't see a long time. she called me, to ask, whether i want to go out with her. I agree and started to dress. When I stepped out from the house, I looked around and see that day was wonderful. When I was walking by the old lady, she was smiling to me, I smiled to her too. And then she said something strange, she said < Be careful today, girl. > At first I didn't notice it, but when I

Based on his research what showd that if you make a random picture of a university student, the computer identyfies people in these pictures. According to the writer privacy is weak point in today´s lives, because job offeres use the internet to find personal information about their candidates. When I watched this video I thought about my pictures and personal information on the internet and the assertions in this video are, in my opinion, correct.

Seven days

,,Seven days!" and after that just beep beep beep. At first I thought it's just some stupid joke but I got frightened and I couldn't even get any sleep. I creeped downstairs looking after my shoulder from time to time because I had this feeling someone was watching me and when I looked after the window I saw someone standing in the dark alley. That seriously creeped me out! I suddenly remembered that creepy movie called ,,The Ring". In the film the person who watched the film got murdered in seven days and they receieved exactly the same phone call as I did. The whole week, I got barely any sleep. I had been like that for already six days straight. When day seven arrived, I was really frightened about what's going to happen. It was my birthday, but I wasn't in celebration mood because that phone call was still frightening me. I passed out on the couch and in the noon I got a phone call from a friend saying: ,,Sorry for the phone call seven days

coming towards us. We freaked out and started running through the forest. Luckily the teacher gave up looking for us very easily, but to my horror we had lost each other. I decided to run through the forest to the beach. The way was really short and the forest wasn't dense either, but I was still a bit scared, because I was alone. When I got to the beach I saw Jane and Elisabeth. We were relieved and happy to find each other. We took some pictures and watched the sunset. In the next morning the strict teacher said nothing about last night and we enjoyed the rest of our summer camp. Kadri-Ann Lainde 9.a (223 words)

Tallinn Town Hall Square and Town Hall

The tower The tower was constructed together with the Town Hall in 1402 1404. The original Gothic pyramidal spire was replaced by a Late- Renaissance spire in 1627. The height of the Town Hall from the bottom of the arcade to the top of the spire is 64 meters. The spire was destroyed in an aerial bombing on March 9, 1944. It was rebuilt in 1952. Tallinn Town Council used to have its own guards, who maintained order in town and watched for possible enemy troops or destructive fire from the tower. When something endangered the city, an alarm bell in the belfry was rung. The square Throughout the centuries, the Town Hall Square has been used as a market square and gathering place. The square in front of the Town Hall was used for trading even before the Town Hall was built. Celebrations as well as executions were carried out on the square.

Comparison. Jan Guillous’ ” Evil”.

But in the movie some of the most important scenes were left out and the movie lost a lot with that. It seems that the director tried to make Erik seem like a non-violent hero or something like that. At first, when I found out that "Evil" is going to be on TV, I was really exited in seeing it and finding out on how it had been produced. But after seeing it, I was somewhat disappointed, because as I've said, the producer left out some of the best parts. But those who hadn't read the book and watched it with me really liked it, so I guess it was a pretty good film. On the other hand, one of my friend who had read the book, thought the same as me. So I guess I would really recommend the book, but I would only recommend the movie to those, who have not read the book.

A Computer in my life. I can call myself a computer addict, because I spend many hours every day sitting behind the computer, most of my entertainment is connected with my computer. Like games, music, videos, movies, social networks and news. I used to have PC, but in September I bought myself a laptop. It's powerful, beautiful, it doesn't make much noise and it's quite easy to carry around. I use it to play games, study, watch movies, listen to music and the most important to connect with my friends. I rarely have problems with my computer. I'm an advanced user and I don't get viruses while surfing the net. After graduating high school, I'm thinking of buying tablet PC, because it's even more comfortable to use when you're on the move. Sometimes when I wake up early, I open my laptop, visit my webpages and then read news. After school, first thing I do, when I get home, I open...

Would less TV and movie violence lead to fewer violent crimes

Would less TV and movie violence lead to fewer violent crimes TV and movies become more and more popular in each year. Reason why we enjoy that kind of entertainment is because of the excitement and fun it offers. There are lots of genres in movies and TV series but most watched of them is action where plenty of crime is shown. Because of the rise in crime and at the same time in action movies or series people have started worrying that these kind of movies affect people to commit more crimes. Firstly, action films/ TV series always include robberys, explosions, car chases, shooting and all the other more little crimes. Usually these movies/series have about the same plot, where there are good guys and bad guys fighting and chasing each other

The moment Heartless had seen them he was piercing the monster's heart with his long knife. Then, after killing his pray, the man dropped the disgusting body and cleaned his sword. Heartless wanted to run away, but she knew that this man, probably not even human, was much faster and stronger than her. That's why she just stood there and watched the youth's moves. Finally, when he had cleaned his sword, he started to search something. Soon he found it, because he took from the nearby ground a large book and started reading it. In the meanwhile the monster, whom he thought was dead, started moving and stood up. She (or even it) saw the enemy and rushed towards him. The man seemed not to be noticing her, so Heartless decided to save the man from the horrible death this beast wanted to cause.

TV violence, Essee

significant contributor. After taking some negative character from the movie as a model, people will start to behave really stupidly, aggressively or dangerously. Some people start to pick a quarrel to get into a fight, but usually it ends with some bruises and bleeding nose. But there are more serious problems created by the violent TV programs. Sometimes some people want to imitate even those scenes where someone suffers serious harm or even dies. For example, two young children watched Tom & Jerry and they saw a scene where Jerry drummed a pan into a Tom’s head. They also tried it out, but this led to the sister’s death. Several things can be done to avoid the bad impressions caused by the violent programs. Firstly, you can forbid your children to watch violent programs. However, this isn’t easy task at all, because forbidding children will make them very curious. Another thing to mention is that if possible, parents should watch TV with their children and talk

Pet therapy

backaches and stomach problems among adults after they had acquired a pet. "It is difficult to know if they became healthier as a result of acquiring their pet, but they certainly perceived themselves to be so,” the researcher said.  There is no real explanation however, for why animals can change people in various ways. Elizabeth Ormerod, who is spearheading a campaign to introduce pets into a Scottish prison, has watched the effect of animals on prisoners. "Animals help to dispel tension,” she says. The Scottish prisons that have some involvement with animals report fewer disturbances as well as better relationships between staff and prisoners. "Caring for a pet encourages compassion and reverence for life," says Ormerod. "You could call it humane education.”

developed as he invited her for a sailing weekend to Cowes. The prince proposed on 6 February 1981, and Diana accepted, but their engagement was kept secret for the next few weeks. Their engagement became official on the 24th February, 1981, after Diana selected a large £30,000 ring consisting of 14 diamonds surrounding a sapphire, similar to her mother's engagement ring. The 20-year-old became The Princess of Wales when she married Charles on 29 July 1981 at St Paul's Cathedral. It was watched by a global television audience of 750 million. At the altar Diana accidentally reversed the order of Charles's names, saying Philip Charles Arthur George instead. The ceremony began at 11:20 A.M. and Diana wore a dress valued at £9000 with 25 foot train. The social network

But at many academic institutions and office networks Facebook has been blocked to guarantee the irrelevancy. We try to deny the importance of the site but without success. It has changed our culture in many ways, making it so modernized that some of us cannot handle it. I am quite positive, that before the movie, people did not really know the basic story of how Facebook was invented. But by now, we have searched the internet, watched the magnificent movie and bought books titled similarly and can tell many interesting facts about our biggest entertainer. Even if the movie were not based on a real story and would have been made up, it would be a masterpiece in any case. Of course the topic is common which makes the movie more interesting and exciting for us. The director David Fincher has done a great job by not trying to force some characters to the audience. He wants us to draw a conclusion and pick a side, not the film

Inglise keelne kirjand Stendhal-ist

The year 1806 proved to be a turning point. Count Pierre Daru, having been appointed intendant- general of Napoleon's army, had his young protégé sent as an adjunct military commissary to the German city of Brunswick. This was the beginning of an administrative career in the French army that allowed Henri Beyle to discover parts of Germany and Austria. His army appointment gave him a direct experience of the Napoleonic regime and of Europe at war. He watched Moscow go up in flames, took part in the French forces' retreat from Russia, and helped organize the military defence of the province of Dauphiné back in France. In 1814, when the French empire fell, he decided to settle in Italy. But the more authentic Stendhal is to be found elsewhere, and above all in a cluster of favourite ideas: the hostility to the concept of "ideal beauty," the notion of modernity, and the exaltation of energy, passion, and spontaneity
