Technology has dramatically changed leisure and hobbies

Technology has dramatically changed leisure and hobbies Family drives with a car, husband turns the car looking at the GPS directions to home. Wife shares pictures to Instagram with her iPhone and in the backseat girl is playing with her iPad and boy reads on his kindle. This is normal nowadays, because technolgy has been improved for example people can now communicate with each other much faster. It is great, although it can also harm people. Technology is serious responsibility- if people do not use an invention carefully, then it would end up the wrong way. The word „Leisure“ meaning changes in every 10 to 20 years. 50 years ago spare time was usually considered as that part of a day when people took a nap or children played with each other. Nowadays technological tools are killing off leisure time, especially for younger workers and students, who are working longer hours, taking fewer and shorter vacations but

Reading a quality or a popular newspaper

From quality papers people can read about serious topics. This kind of papers contain inportant issues and reflect different political views. Also quality papers have financial and sports news. But from popular papers contain more sensational stories and scandals. Secondly, quite big difference is in the price and the looks between those two papers. Quality papers are printed on large pages, have an undramatic layout and very simple desing. Althoush they look serious their price is not very low. But on the other hand tabloids aim to excite the reader visually, using techniques such as very large headlines and photos. Those newspapers are more cheaper than quality papers. Accordingly, the readerships of those two different newspapers depend on the aforementioned different characteristics. For example, tabloids are more frequently bought by older and younger generations, because those people might find serious news boring, but on the other

Capital punishment should be abolished

Capital punishment should be abolished Capital punishment is a form of punishment where a person's life is taken. Capital punishment has been abolished in Estonia since the year 1998, but the last man was executed in 1991. One of the reasons for not abolishing capital punishment are that a life long sentence is not as effective as execution, and that the death penalty affirms the right to life by punishing those who violate it in the most serious form. For example: death penalty should exist for serial killers. Another reason is that the criminals who would have been executed are now the country's responsibility and they use taxpayers' money. On the other hand, capital punishment is very inhumane. After the execution new evidence may appear and the criminal might turn out to be innocent but there is nothing to do because we can not bring back the dead. Another reason for abolishing capital punishment is the

Marriage - an outdated tradition

Marriage has been a very important part of peoples´ lives since ancient times. Over the years things have changed and more couples tend not to make so strong commitments any more. It seems to me that marriage is losing it´s meaning and traditional values. What would be the reasons? To begin with, I believe it is strongly connected with the high standards people have. I find that people are quite distrustful of each other, that is why they prefer not to make serious relationships. It think that avoiding serious commitments is like a self-protection. In this sense break-up would be easier to manage with than divorce. We need to be very certain about our partner and feel secure before getting married. What is more, a lot of people nowadays have been married before. They already have experiences in this area. For some reason they have lost their partner in life and it is usually not prior for them to get married once again

Newspapers in Britain

In britain, the newspaper industry, often called Fleet Street, has a mojar influance on public opinion and is a strong force in political life. Britain's press is unusual in that it is divided into two very different types of newspaper: the quality press and the popular press. The term quality press is used to describe papers, which follow the tradition of the journals of the 18th and early 19th centuries. The 'quality' papers are printed on large papers, have an undramatic layout and are serious in tone. They have editorials which comment on important issues and reflect the political views of the editor. They are more expensive than tabloids. Examples of the quality dailies are The Times, The Daily Telegraph, The Guardian, The Independent and the Financial Times. People choose a paper that reflects their own political opinion. The popular press is mainly represented by papers founded after the launching day of the Daily Mail in 1896. Today such papers are largely tabloid

Epic (ingl. k eepos)

EPIC ,,A long narrative poem on a great and serious subject, related in an elevated style, and centered on a heroic or quasi-divine figure on whose actions depends the fate of a tribe, a nation, or the human race. The traditional epics were shaped by a literary artist from historical and legendary materials which had developed in the oral traditions of his nation during a period of expansion and warfare" An epic is a lengthy narrative poem, ordinarily concerning a serious subject containing details of heroic deeds and events significant to a culture or nation. Nonetheless, epics have been written down at least since the works of Virgil, Dante Alighieri, and John Milton. Many probably would not have survived if not written down. The first epics are known as primary, or original, epics. One such epic is the Old English story Beowulf. Epic Conventions, or characteristics common to both types include: 1

Conditions of the productive animals in farms.

In Finland this survey was recorded with digital cameras. The videos and pictures were published and soon there were responses that these materials are fake or filmed elsewhere. Everyone who sees those pictures and videos realises that they are real and the problem is so serious that something must be embarked upon at once. The pictures that are taken at the Põima farm prove that the problem is also huge in Estonia. One possible way to show people how serious the problem is, is to distribute those materials. Often just talking about something serious does not create the image to the people and they need proof to realise the deepness of it. Even more, recently WSPA (World Society for the Protection of Animals) published an international report, where it is said that most of the 61 milliard farm animals who are raised to get milk, meet or eggs, are living in cruel conditions and are suffering from severe maltreatment.

atmosphere shows no tendency toward violence. However, this does not mean that violence on television is the only source for aggressive or violent behavior, but it is a significant contributor. After taking some negative character from the movie as a model, people will start to behave really stupidly, aggressively or dangerously. Some people start to pick a quarrel to get into a fight, but usually it ends with some bruises and bleeding nose. But there are more serious problems created by the violent TV programs. Sometimes some people want to imitate even those scenes where someone suffers serious harm or even dies. For example, two young children watched Tom & Jerry and they saw a scene where Jerry drummed a pan into a Tom’s head. They also tried it out, but this led to the sister’s death. Several things can be done to avoid the bad impressions caused by the violent programs. Firstly, you can forbid your children to watch violent programs

The disasters are getting more serious and they are mostly caused by global warming which people can affect. What should be done to make the situation better? Nowadays people have put material things above the beauty and survival of the Earth. Money and power are more important than, for example, the wonder of cool, fresh and clean spring water. The water has been polluted and the trees cut down, also the air is polluted with gasses. All of these things are dangerous for animals as they live in the forests. People do not care

They think that it normal to go smoking every single hour. I know some people who do like that. They just have to go because it like a habit. Non-smoker think that it time wasting, but to them it very important part of their day. All those things still don´t justify smoking, because it really serious and dangerous thing. I think that we can´t bann smoking, but we can create more no- smoking areas. All cafeterias, restaurants and other places where people are smokin, should think about that, because it a very serious problem which has disturbed a lot of people. I think that we should have special eating places for smokers when they could be with their ownkinds. I think that when we have those places then smokers

Capital Punishment Should Be Abolished

Capital Punishment Should (not) Be Abolished Capital punishment or the death penalty is the killing of the person as the punishment for offence. To get the capital punishment, you need to do a very serious crime, like homicide, or even more serious than that. The pros of a capital punishment are that if the person gets that punishment, he or she will never get a chance to do something that cruel again. Sometimes the criminals, who get a prison sentence, do something illegal again, after that punishment. Second pro is that it's cheaper for the country to kill the person, than to pay for his/her food and clothes for the rest of his/her life in the prison. Although the killing of the person also needs money, it's still way cheaper than

Different types of disputes require different forms of adjudication, therefore the jurisdiction of courts may be limited by the type of case, geography and amount of the claim. For example county courts are limited to incidents that occurred within their locality and claims which don’t exceed 5000 GBP. A civil trial is before a single judge, generally sitting without a jury

Many newspapers and magazines feature stories about the private lives of famous people

feature private life of famous people, but others think on the contary. This essay will show both sides. On the one hand, it is appropriate for a newspapers to write some information about famous people. People , who are intrested in famous people’s lifes want to know about their achievements, goals or other important things, than read about how they spend their holidays in the resort or with whom they go to the football match. Newspapers should offer more serious information, that readers may fill their minds with some necessary and interesting facts. Futhermore, newspaper`s journalists should focus on facts and checked information, not on gossips, that people are available to rely on newspaper`s articles. On the other hand, magazines are more focused on social news of famous people`s lifes. In general, magazines offer information about famous people’s personalaties and private lifes, because the magazine’s goal is entertain readers

temperature, which in turn causes changes in climate. A warmer Earth may lead to changes in rainfall patterns, a rise in sea level, and a wide range of impacts on plants, wildlife, and humans. When scientists talk about the issue of climate change, their concern is about global warming caused by human activities. The increasing infrastructure instability is an important issue in relation to the influences of global climate change in urban areas. A serious issue pertaining to this is the dual nature of damage triggered by events combined with climate change and natural hazards. For example, catastrophic damage could result from the combination of global warming with a great earthquake, which is a worst-case scenario. Although this worst-case scenario has rarely occurred and presents a low probability of occurrence, countermeasures must be prepared in advance based on an appropriate response and adaptation strategies. When thousands died in 9/11 attacks, I didn't know how to react, so I didn't react at all. I was ten, it was all of no significance to me and somewhere far away. Now every time I see Haiti in the news, I shiver. I try to ignore thinking about it, though. I can't imagine all the people there without food, homes and families. This is all real, it's really happening there. Just the other day I was talking to my best friend about the past, present and future. The future came up as the most serious topic. I'm not surprised that never before have I thought about how will I get my own home, how will I pay the rent or a loan and the taxes, how will I provide a happy, carefree childhood and a great home for my children etc. All of that is hard. And that's not even what scares me, because everyone has to do that, and everyone does that, handles it in some way. What really scares me is the actual hard part of life. Think about the adults around you, who you really know

The movie was brightened up with a lot of humorous scenes and characters. There was this usual Bruce Willis type of humour, also this young Leeloo who firstly didn't know anything and acted like a baby and also there was this really annoying character- DJ Ruby Rhod. It was quite unusual to combine real serious plot (destroying life) to comedy so it wasn't an usual science fiction. Compare to ohter this type of films this was actually quite enjoyable even though the plot was really predictable. The thing what was really ridiculous was these silly costumes. Usually the aliens should look scary, but in this film you just can't stop laughing at them and this blue singing diva? Theres no way you can take her seriously. The only scary thing was maybe the voice of the ultimate evil character

do everything so you won't hurt yourself, and how to stretch after a workout. For instance many people without previous training experience start their "healthy" life by running long distances fast. Out of ignorance they believe, that if they run faster and longer, they will get better results. Needless to say, that kind of working out damages your body more than it helps. And can also cause you to have an cardiac arrest or a serious longterm heart problems. But despite the fact that there can be serious consequences for false ways, there is still an upside. If you live an healty life, you have more strenght to get trought the day. You will feel relaxed and you won't be ill as often. Even if you get the flu, you will recover faster and it wont have so much effect on your health in general. So in conclusion, if you lead a healthy life and do it properly, it will have an awesome effect on your way of living

MRSA

What is MRSA, and why is it sometimes referred to as a "superbug"? · MRSA in hospitals. MRSA infection is caused by Staphylococcus aureus bacteria - often called "staph." Many years ago, a strain of staph emerged in hospitals that was resistant to the broad-spectrum antibiotics commonly used to treat it. Dubbed methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), it has been called a "superbug" by the media because of its multiple drug resistance. MRSA can cause serious, sometimes fatal, infections that resist treatment with all but a few drugs - for example, vancomycin, linezolid or daptomycin. Some extremely rare strains of MRSA that are resistant even to vancomycin are starting to turn up in some hospitals. · MRSA in the community. In the 1990s, a type of MRSA began showing up outside hospital settings - in the wider community. These strains aren't the same as those associated with health care settings and hospitals

real dangers counterfeit beauty products pose to their health. Criminals are exploiting every opportunity to fool customers into buying counterfeits in order for them to make some quick cash - putting peoples' health, homes and lives at risk. Beauty products are meant to enhance your features, however the fakes can do quite the opposite. Our general rule is if it seems too good to be true then it probably is. Not only could these products have serious implications to your health and wellbeing but by simply going online and buying from a rogue site or dealer, your personal and financial information is at risk.We have had victims who have bought fake items online only to discover later that the criminals behind the site have used their payment details to make further purchases or even use their personal details to set up hundreds of illegal sites selling counterfeit goods.''

Truancy in school – individual responsibility

Truancy in school individual responsibility Hello ladies and gentlemen, today I am here to talk to you about truancy in school and why is it an individual responsibility. Truancy in school is a very serious problem nowadays. Unfortunately many students have lost their motivation to study. According to the BBC 400,000 children were persistently absent from England's schools in the past year and missed about one month of school each. The effect that poor attendance at school can have on a child's education can be permanent and damaging but skipping should be child's own responsibility and it is not right to punish the parents for it.

I myself have lived many years with runny nose and I don’t worry too much about it but I really never thought about my little sister and mom. They both have had some serious issues with their health and I don’t want my actions to harm their wellbeing in any way. Because of that our family has stayed isolated for 10 days now. Basketball can be played inside and outside, this can be played even alone. If there aren't people who agree play whit me currently I'll take my ball and I start just throwing ball through hoop. But actually basketball has dark side too. This game can be very dangerous. I have had a lot of very serious injuries. Twice I broke my leg and once hurt my hand so that I needed an emergency splint. I couldn't play basketball for months and meantime I swore to myself that I will never play this horroble game ever again. But I improved and next moment i was back to square, ready to run myself out of breath. Basketball can be unpleasant for some people. This can happen when person is very small, because basketball is kind of ,,tall people game". Basketball might become unpleasant when if

Alcohol

blood you have to delute the alcohol, and it also depends on how fast you drink it, the faster you drink the more your BAC goes up because your body doesn't have as long to delute the alcohol. BINGE DRINKING Drinking a lot of something at one time is not really good for your system, no matter what it is. Bringe drinking is drinking to get drunk, it is what a lot of college people do. Drinking at least five drinks all in one sitting. When they do this the side effects become more serious: vomiting, dizziness, impaired mental capabilities, and hangovers. Those are only short term reactions, others things that binge drinking influence are: athletic performence, poor grades, sexual assault, fights, accidents, drinking and driving, and other health risks. If you think that not a lot of people do this , it is about 50% of collage men and 37% of collage women are classified as binge drinkers. A recent study show that studnts spend about $5.5 billion dollare on alcohol each year

Argumentive essay

They often do things on their own and sometimes things that they wouldn't be proud of in the future. It is certainly true that cosmetic surgery costs a lot of money. People under the age of age of eighteen live with their parents. Usually parents have to cover their expenses. On the other hand minors might get into an accident and need cosmetic surgery to look the same again. If disfigured a child can feel left out which is not good. Another point in favor is that some people might have a serious birth defect like cleft lip and they might want to get it removed. To sum up, minors might use cosmetic surgery a lot but rarely do they really need it. On my opinion cosmetic surgery should only be given to those who need it with a doctor's subscription. Speetch - Eating disorders

Eating disorders I think that eating disorder is a very serious subject and everybody should know how to eat properly. Many famous film stars, singers and pop arts go on a diet to lose weight. There's nothing wrong with that but you have to know where to draw the line. Being on a diet may seriously affect your mind and body and not in a good way. We also see many over-weight people. That is another extreme. Over-weight is not good for your heart and its actions. It severely damages your heart work and simultanously causes many heart problems

How global warming will change the way we live in future?

Hello ladies and gentelmans Today I'm going to talk about how global warming will change the way we live in future. In fact durning the twentieth century global temperature went up by over 0,7 Celsius degree. It looks pretty small number but even slight Climate change leads to serious consequences. Firstly, global warming will cause that glaciers start to melt. And as a result, the water level will raise and cities and villages which are located near oceans and sees will be flooded. Secondly, if we don't stop global warming, we will bserve more examples of extreme weather such as heat waves, storm clouds, which may lead to floods, droughts and forest fires. Next conseqences of global warming is that oceans temperature will go up

but then murderers family members get hurt and it would be vicious circle. Also the death penalty takes away opportunity to regret those horrible mistakes. Some people can change and would live life properly. But then, some people can't change themselves and they could do same mistakes over and over again. Then it seems right again to punish them with the death penalty. Of course from economical side capital punishment is better than maintaining serious criminals at public expence. Because it is quite expensive to feed and cover those lifetime prisnoners. But the main reason why I agree that capital punishment should be abolished is that when somebody is convicted guilty and later some evidences that prove his or her innosence will come out, but capital punishment is already executed, then it is impossible to bring that human back. It is the worst that can happen.

Honesty is always the best policy

Honesty is one of the first things that parents teach their children, and it is for a good reason. They say that honesty is the most valuable attribute in a person. But is it really the best policy? It isn´t always easy to remain totally honest in difficult situations. We have all lied to our close friends and parents, just for our own good. But the truth is that you always get caught with lying and it only makes things worse. Being dishonest may lead to serious consequenses amd you have to deal with them afterwards. Honesty isn´t only important in your personal life, but also in business. Being honest will help you get a good job and respect. Although there are ways to earn money dishonestly, it won´t give us a good social status. Best feeling in life is when you are respected, but if you are caught lying then people won´t look at you the same way. It may take a long time to build the trust again.

Safe streets again

Safe streets again Increasing crime frequency is serious concern for everybody. Feeling unsecure, being scared are things that we should not encounter in our society. Nevertheless we have to find solution, which will last. Firstly, we have to create greater police presence. More officers means more people will certainly get help and feel safe again, which is the most important. Also criminals cannot accomplish crimes, because they definitely do not want to be caught. Secondly, we have to establish tougher sentences for those who
