Estonia traditional costumes

Estonia traditional costumes In Estonia traditional costume denotes mainly the festive peasant dress of the 19th century, which in its time referred besides social status also to national background, as the ruling class were mainly German at the time. The former peasant costume of regional variation has become today a national symbol and has turned due to its altered function into a national dress. Estonian country folk produced their clothing mainly from home-spun woollen or linen fabric: shirts and married women's head-wear was mostly made from linen, while various outer garments, gloves, stockings and socks, were made from wool. The majority of the clothes remained undyed for a long time: linen garments were bleached white, while woollen outer garments were mainly sheep-brown or black. The wool for making skirts was dyed with herbal dyes. The bedstraw root was

School Uniforms

not? There are many good sides of wearing uniforms. First, everyone is equal. There would be no fights or teasing about people's clothes because everyone is wearing the same ones. Secondly, school uniforms help to create a strong sense of belonging somewhere. With different clothes no one would notice, that for instance you and your friend go the same school. It would be easier to recognize people with their uniforms. Uniforms also prepare you for your future life, when you often have to dress smart when you go to work. It is a lot easier to dress every morning because you do not have to choose between different sets of clothes. You will have only one to choose the uniform. However, I think, that students should not wear uniforms. Wearing uniforms will make individuality dissapear and as a result we would have a group of students in grey or blue uniforms. We could not express ourselves by what we wear. The uniforms are also quite boring and not very inviting

Anglo - Saxon

England around the 7th and 8th centuries. Christianity was introduced into Northumbria and Mercia by monks from Ireland, but the Synod of Whitby settled the choice for Roman Christianity. As the new clerics became the chroniclers, the old religion was partially lost before it was recorded. Despite these prohibitions, numerous elements of the pre-Christian culture of the Anglo-Saxon people survived the Christianisation process. Dress materials Anglo-Saxon clothing usually utilized only three types of fabric. Wool was a coarse material which was used for most garments. Lower class people, such as slaves and poorer peasants could only use wool for their garments, even garments worn against the skin. Linen, harvested from the flax plant, was a finer material which was used for garments. Silk was an extremely expensive material, and it was used only by the very rich, and then only for trim and decoration. Men`s fashion

If to judge by that as this girl it is dressed, it is possible to assume that it is engaged to hip hop. I think if it is engaged to hip hop it spends the free time in dance halls-where trains or goes on dancing battle, that most likely. I think that this style is very interesting, but it is not everyday. Nowadays a lot of people do not dress modestly, for example, such things as T-shirt, jacket, jeans and sneakers, and it looks very stylish identically. P.S. It is only my opinion. We will arrive on 6'th September and leave on 16'th September . We are going to use a bus as a transport and will arrive to the hotel approximately 12 at noon. We have total of 16 students in our group - 10 boys and 6 girls plus another teacher besides me. We would like to have 5 rooms if possible and there is also a girl in the wheelchair in our group. I would also like to know about the museums you have been searched out for us and which is the appropriate way to dress ourselves - more comfortably or rather elegantly? Plus are there any past-time sporting opportunities for us? If yes, may you stop more closely on that? All in all I would like to thank you and meet you soon! Yours truly, Mari

A day out to remember

A day out to remember It was a sunny summer day. I woke up, like always, brushed my teeth and went to eat. After all that, I chill in my computer, chat with friends and just watched TV. I had a phone call, I was a little bit surprised because it was my old friend with who I didn't see a long time. she called me, to ask, whether i want to go out with her. I agree and started to dress. When I stepped out from the house, I looked around and see that day was wonderful. When I was walking by the old lady, she was smiling to me, I smiled to her too. And then she said something strange, she said < Be careful today, girl. > At first I didn't notice it, but when I walked more I started to think about this. I started to walk across the road and then everybody around started to scream, I stopped, and then realized, if I had been stepping one step more, the

Pros and cons of A School Uniform

Nowadays quite a lot schools has its own uniform.Especially in the UK and in the USA where uniform is a tradition. But in Estonia, a school uniform is not that popular yet On the plus side of the uniform, students do not have to spend extra money for the clothes to wear at school. A School Uniform is launched to unite students, it also maintains discipline. A School Uniform is a tradition in many many countries.Another advantage is that a fixed dress code helps the students perform academically better. But every plus has its minus. For instance, students can not express themselves. Another point is, that students lose their individuality so they can not be unique. For someome the material of the uniform is not suitable. Some people say that a uniform makes life easier and saves time. I totally disagree, because when students say that when they do not have a uniform, they have to think what will they wear to schoo in the morningl

Kilt

Kilt The kilt is a knee-length garment with pleats at the rear, originating in the traditional dress of men and boys in the Scottish Highlands of the 16th century. Although the kilt is most often worn on formal occasions and at Highland games and sports events, it has also been adapted as an item of fashionable informal male clothing in recent years, returning to its roots as an everyday garment. Typically, a portion of the belted plaid hangs down to about the knees with the rest of the material being wrapped up around one's upper body in a variety of ways and pinned or otherwise

Friends have more Influence than Family on Teenagers

The connection made between friends is usually much stronger than between family members. With teens, there is always a `rebellious' factor in play, which may make them adapt certain behaviors or ideas from our friends, in order to appease the inner rebel inside of us. Teenagers act according to the norm that is prominent in the group they are apart of. For example, the punk movement will possibly penetrate different groups and to feel apart of the group, teens will also dress accordingly. On the other hand, our parents behavior will have an influence on us, especially in our younger years. The way we are brought up and how our parents communicate with us is directly correlated to our development and later life. While it can be argued that friends will have the strongest influence on each other, one must not forget that we first befriend our family and later on find friends outside of the family circle.

ELSA CLAY

Hi, my name is Elsa Clay and I studied at an all-girls Catholic high school .And here are some answers to the questions about my school. First, yes, we wear uniforms what consist of button-down blue or white blouses or polo shirts and a pleated blue and green plaid skirt. At our school we do not wear a miniskirt teamed with thigh-high socks, pink lipstick and a bare midriff. But we do have casual days when we can dress down at least once a month. Sometimes some of us are barley recognizable without uniform. Second, no boys in our school, and it's a relief not having to deal with the distractions during class time. There are two all-boys school in neighborhood and they hold open dances that are great for checking out prospective prom dates. Third, girls sports are extremely popular in our school. When our school plays another at basketball, our tiny gym is packed with crazy fans cheering on their

Pros & Cons of a School Uniform

However, every school uniform has both advantages and disadvantages. One advantage is that school uniform helps to maintain discipline. Also it is a symbol of a school. School uniform makes life cheaper and easier you do not have to waste time in the morning thinking of what to wear. Also you do not have to buy a whole new wardrobe for every school semester and I think that a school uniform prepares you for adulthood because often many important jobs have a dress code, which you have to follow. However, for every plus there is a minus. Although many students might like a school uniform, many are against it and the reality is that lots of students refuse to wear it because it may be the bad material and it might be allergic to some students. Also I think that students cannot express themselves as they want to and really think that it would be better for all if you would have a choice of school uniform, what I mean that you can choose from 4-5 clothes.
