Jane Eyre

Think about why certain elements of the book were excluded from the film. The notion that Edward Rochester will marry Blanche Ingram is in the book and the film. However, the scene in which Edward Rochester disguises himself as a female gypsy fortuneteller does not appear. Any attempt to recreate this scene on film would be difficult. Analyze the ending of the story. The film ends similarly to the book. Jane Eyre returns to Edward Rochester and discovers he is blind after his home has been burned and his wife is dead. She marries him. However, in the book Edward Rochester regains sight in one eye. The film therefore ends on a slightly less optimistic.

Katherine Mansfield

The Garden Party Katherine Mansfield Character Analysis: Laura The character that won my favor is Laura, the protagonist of the story, who comes across as a fragile and insecure young woman. All at once she starts to perceive her role in this complex world. Moreover, she begins to wonder over the values and delusions, which are of great importance in life. Throughout the story it stands to reason that she is trying to establish her true self, even though she is steadily influenced by her family, especially by her mother. On account of her constant questionings she finally evolves into an individual, who is capable of distinguishing essential truths of life from unimportant ones, however she still remains to be uncertain, which may indicate that her discoveries are not all-encompassing in nature and may fade away from the memory. From the very beginning it is evident that Laura is a yo

Helen keller ja Anne Sullivan

Graham Bell, inventor of the telephone. Kate wrote to the head of the Perkins School to ask for a teacher for Helen and they sent their star student, Anne Sullivan. The day she arrived—March 3, 1887— Helen's life changed. 3. Anne Sullivan was born on April 14, 1866, in Agawam, Massachusetts. Her family had very little money and could not take care of her. When she was 10 years old she was sent to live in a home for poor people. Anne also had very poor vision. At the age of 14, she was sent to the Perkins School for the Blind to receive training to be a teacher for children who were blind. 4. Anne had to figure out a way to make Helen understand words and their meaning. She began to teach Helen letters, by signing them into her palm. Then just one month later, everything clicked. Anne held Helen's hand under a pump while signing W-A-T-E-R into her palm. Helen's whole face lit up

Cats

"doubly diluted" kittens were appearing in the cat fancy. These had no apparent connection to the Barrington or Tuskegee cats. He also mentioned unconfirmed reports of a dilution system similar to the “standard chocolate dilution" but not traceable to any known chocolate ancestry. Shaw offered the following possibilities:  a leak of the Barrington Brown gene from one or other of the laboratory colonies into the cat fancy population; perhaps some cats or kittens had been taken home as pets and bred.  a new mutation in a completely different gene location  a new mutation at the same location as his Barrington Brown gene  an independent recurrence of the Barrington Brown mutation. To identify the relationship, if any between the Barrington Brown cats and those with "double dilution" would require test-matings between the new "doubly diluted" cats and some known Barrington Brown cats

Jane Austen

knew the easiness of his temper, whether he might not spend the remainder of his days at Netherfield, and leave the next generation to purchase. His sisters were anxious for his having an estate of his own; but, though he was now only established as a tenant, Miss Bingley was by no means unwilling to preside at his table-- nor was Mrs. Hurst, who had married a man of more fashion than fortune, less disposed to consider his house as her home when it suited her. Mr. Bingley had not been of age two years, when he was tempted by an accidental recommendation to look at Netherfield House. He did look at it, and into it for half-an-hour--was pleased with the situation and the principal rooms, satisfied with what the owner said in its praise, and took it immediately. Between him and Darcy there was a very steady friendship, in spite of great opposition of character

Slumdog Miliooner

person. When he talks to Prem he tries to just give him short answers like "yes", "no" and "I don't know". This shows the type of person Jamal is as he is a very calm minded guy who tries to get nothing from coming in his way. This also shows that Jamal tries to not focus on Prem but focuses more on trying to get to Lakita. The use of gesture in this film clearly shows the conflict between Prem and Jamal. The gestures that Prem uses makes it look like he is at home on the set of "Who Wants to Be A Millionaire", especially when he leans back and casually swivels round to address the audience. Boyle tries to show the audience that Prem has Jamal at his fingertips. Flashbacks are used by Boyle to show the back-story of Jamal's journey to get on the game show. Each time Jamal is asked a question, the audience is shown a flashback to show how Jamal knows the answer. For instance, when Jamal is asked who is on the

Women writer's influence on our society

Red Cross Merit Medal. She was always considered as a smart woman. She also wrote Lydia Koidula's biography. Thanks to her we know a lot about Hiiumaa's history and nature. Next writer is called Marie Under who lived in 1883-1980. At the beginning she wrote poetry in German because she went to a German school, but when she became older she started writing in Estonian. She started writing when she was only 13 years old and she was also at a very young age when she started reading. She was a lyric poet who wrote about life's different sides. She wrote about things that most of the other people would have never dared to. She was a writer who described nature in a way that no one else had ever done it before. One of her works "Hääl varjust" ("A voice from the shadow") is a great analyze of society. She was also in a grouping called Siuru that wrote sensory poems. She was the leader of the group and she was called Princess in there. She was the only woman in that grouping
