Cells of the immune system respond to stress or injury in many of ways (Benoy & Heels, 1998; Mayer & Watkins, 1998; Brines et al, 1996). They secrete a number of cytokines (signalling protein) such as interleukin-6 (IL-6) which is a pro- inflammatory cytokine that mediates the acute phase response to stress. The cytokine IL-6 is also involved in the regulation of the immune system. It is a sensitive immune response marker for stress in laboratory settings and there is now evidence that psychological stressors and hostile behaviour may increase the production of IL-6 (Maes et.al 1998, Morita et al., 2005, Marsland et al 2008). Elliot and Eisdorfer (1982) distinguished two important dimensions in psychological stressors - duration and course (e.g. discrete vs continuous) and five categories of psychological stress. Amongst these five categories acute stressors such as laboratory challenges (e.g.

I must admit I am a shy person, however, I gladly work in a team. I prefer to listen to the views of others and express mine. In other words, I am always ready to make a compromise for successful collaboration. For instance, during group work, I always have a lot of ideas how the material can be logically presented. Taking into account and respecting the opinions of others, I try each time adjust to the choice of the group, and even ready for improvisation. Regarding the laboratory works, I tend to distribute work so that I was comfortable to work and to my partner. It should be noted that studies is not my only fascination. I am interested in creating things with my own hands. I design invitation cards and ornaments made of plasticine, but alsolove drawing (especially portraits). Prior to the development of modern technology, one of the most common ways to study the brain was case study. Often case studies provide researchers with a situation that they could never ethically reproduce in a laboratory. One of the most famous case studies of how brain damage can affect behavior is the study of Phineas Gage by Dr John Harlow. Gage was in a serious accident, where a metal pole pierced his skull and brain. Luckily he survived, losing vision in his left eye. He had no difficulty with speech or language, but the balance between his intellectual abilities and emotional control had been destroyed.
