  • Bonnet/hood latch : a type of mechanical fastener that is used to join two (or more) objects or surfaces together while allowing for the regular or eventual separation of the objects or surfaces.
  • Bumper: a horizontal bar along the lower front and lower back part of a motor vehicle to help protect it if there is an accident . (AMORTISAATOR/PÕRKERAUD)

  • Unexposed bumper – can´t be seen
  • Exposed bumper – can be seen

  • A cowling: is the covering of a vehicle's engine, most often found on automobiles and aircraft. (KAPOTT)

A cowling may be used:
  • for drag reduction
  • for engine cooling by directing airflow
  • as an air intake for jet engines
  • for decorative purposes
  • Decklid:

The decklid (or deck lid,  boot lid) is the cover over the trunk/boot of motor vehicles that allows access to the main storage or luggageHYPERLINK " http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compartment"compartment.[1]HYPERLINK " http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decklid"[2] A hinge allows the decklid to be raised, while devices such as springs hold it up in the open position. It is most often opened by using a keyed lock mechanism.
On automobiles with their trunk in the rear , decklids sometimes incorporate a center mounted third brake light  (Center High Mount Stop Lamp or CHMSL ). A rear decklid may also have a decorative air  spoiler .
On some cars, electric decklids are available , which means , by the use of an electric motor, they can be closed and opened by pressing a button on the car's key fob.

In  British English , a car's fascia or facia is its instrument panel and dashboard area which lies in front of the driver and front-seat passenger. It is used primarily in enthusiast and specialist circles.
In recent  American English  usage , a car's fascia is its front-end " look " -  grille , headlamps, front bumper, and other details. This area is possibly the most critical in defining a car's identifiable look, and is also the easiest to restyle when a car's styling needs to be refreshed (due to the fact that front end panels, grille, lights , etc. can be updated with different styling and fitted to the same chassis to significantly change the appearance rather than redesigning the entire body/chassis of the car). Again , this word is mostly used by the auto trade and automotive  journalists. Furthermore , the fascia is used to describe the single panel that conceals the bumper, front or rear, and ties the bumper element visually with the sides of the vehicle—often including an inlet for cooling. 93%[citation needed] of fascias are made of TPO (thermoplastic olefin elastomer). This material is high gloss , has thin wall capability, improved paintability, and a low coefficient of thermal expansion.

Fender is the American English  term for the part of an  automobile , motorcycle or other vehicle body that frames a  wheel  well (the fender underside). Its primary purpose is to prevent sand, mud, rocks, liquids, and other  road spray  from being thrown into the air by the rotating tire . Fenders are typically rigid and can be damaged by contact with the road surface. Instead flexible mud flaps are used close to the ground where contact may be possible.
Sticky materials such as mud may adhere to the smooth outer tire surface, while smooth loose objects such as stones can become temporarily embedded in the tread grooves as the tire rolls over the ground. These materials can be ejected from the surface of the tire at high velocity as the tire imparts kinetic energy to the attached objects. For a vehicle moving forward , the top of the tire is rotating upward and forward, and can throw objects into the air at other vehicles or pedestrians in front of the vehicle.
In British English, the fender is called the wing (this usually only refers to the panels over the front wheel arches, in modern cars, since the rear 'fenders' are more an integral part of the car's body shape). The equivalent component of a bicycle or motorcycle, or the " cycle wing" style of wing fitted to vintage cars which is not integral with the bodywork, is called a mudguard in Britain, as it guards other road users - and in the case of a bicycle or motorcycle, the rider as well - from mud, and spray, thrown up by the wheels. In modern  Indian  and Sri Lankan English usage, the wing is called a mudguard.
In the United States, a minor car accident is often called a "fender bender ".- (plekimõlkimine)

a front clip consists of, left and right fenders, bumper, bumper support, core supprt (this part IS welded), and sometimes hood.
  • Front fascia and header panel:

  • Grille (also called grill): In automotive engineering, a grille covers an opening in the body of a vehicle to allow air to enter. Most vehicles feature a grille at the front of the vehicle to protect the  radiator  and engine. Other common grille locations include below the front bumper, in front of the wheels (to cool the brakes ), in the cowl for cabin ventilation, or on the rear deck lid (in rear engine vehicles). (ILUVÕRE)

  • Pillar and hard trim: Pillars are the vertical or near vertical supports of an automobile's window area or greenhouse — designated respectively as the A, B, C or D-pillarmoving in profile view from the front to rear.

In American and British English, the pillars are sometimes referred to as posts (A-post, B-post etc.).
Pillars are implied, whether they exist or not; the non-existent pillar is "skipped" when naming the other pillars.
  • Hard trim: Instrument panel moldings, center consoles and similar plastic trim

  • Quarter panel: (or rear wing as it is known in British English) is usually considered the body panel which goes between the rear door and the trunk and typically wraps around the wheel well; however , the similar front section  Fender (vehicle), between the door and the hood, is sometimes incorrectly referred to as a quarter panel. The quarter panel is typically made of Sheet metal, but is sometimes made of fiberglass or fiber- reinforced plastic; although , this varies with different makes and models.

A quarter panel is typically a welded on component of the uni-body structure or Monocoque. Replacement of a sheet metal quarter panel typically requires it to be cut off the vehicle and a replacement part to be welded (or sometimes bonded) to the Vehicle. Due to this high amount of specialized labour , a quarter panel may often be repaired rather than replaced by hammering out the damage, and a body filler sometimes referred to as bondo to be applied to finalize the original surface.

  • Radiator core support: Radiators are  heat exchangers used to transfer thermal energy from one medium to another for the purpose of cooling and heating. The majority of radiators are constructed to function in automobiles, buildings, and electronics. The radiator is always a source of heat to its environment, although this may be for either the purpose of heating this environment, or for cooling the fluid or coolant supplied to it, as for engine cooling. Despite the name, radiators generally transfer the bulk of their heat via convection, not by thermal radiation.

  • Rocker panel: The rocker panel is the lowest body panel on the side of the car located between the two wheelwells. In most cars, only the edge of the rocker panel is visible when the doors are closed since it supports the bottom of the door. The rocker panel can feature the manufacturer's logo and is usually polished for aesthetic appeal. In light trucks, it can also work as a step to facilitate easier entry into the vehicle.

  • Roof rack : a set of bars secured to the roof of a motor car.[1] It is used to carry bulky items such as luggage,  bicycles , canoes, kayaks, skis, or various carriers and containers .

  • Spoiler: an automotive aerodynamic  device whose intended design function is to 'spoil' unfavourable air movement across a body of a vehicle in motion , usually described as drag. Spoilers on the front of a vehicle are often called air dams , because in addition to directing air flow they also reduce the amount of air flowing underneath the vehicle which generally reduces aerodynamic lift and drag. Spoilers are often fitted to  race  and high-performance  sports cars, although they have become common on passenger vehicles as well. Some spoilers are added to cars primarily for styling purposes and have either little aerodynamic benefit or even make the aerodynamics worse.

  • Front spoiler (air dam)

Spoilers for cars are often incorrectly confused with, or the term used interchangeably with, wings . Automotive wings are devices whose intended design is to generate  downforce as air passes around them , not simply disrupt existing airflow patterns
  • Rear spoiler (wing)

  • Trim package : (sometimes called an appearance package) is an automotive package composed by a set of cosmetic (mostly non- functional ) embellishments to a vehicle. In some cases the trim package may include a specific model or ending name. Such packages may be characterized by the use of a famous  fashion designer's name, including examples as the Pierre Cardin AMC Javelin, the Oleg Cassini AMC Matador, or the  Lincoln Continental in Givenchy or Bill Blass versions.
Typical elements that may be included in a trim package include:
  • Special   paint , some with the appearance of pearl, others showing colour variations depending upon light angle
  • Paint patterns using multiple colourstwo- tone  or three-tone (out of current favour)
  • AluminHYPERLINK " http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aluminum"iHYPERLINK " http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aluminum"um, plastic , or stainless steel trim to divide paint regions (out of current favour)
  • Applied graphics on  printed plastic sheeting with adhesive backing
  • Pin striping, usually applied as a dealer add-on using special plastic tape and a removable backing
  • Plastic bumpers painted the same colour as the vehicle body, rather than a matte black (now mostly included in the base level vehicle)
  • Plastic rub strips to reduce paint and metalwork damage from adjacent car doors that are carelessly opened
  • Interior  upholstery materials specific to the package; leather in whole or part is often used in high-end trim packages
  • Wood -patterned plastic or applied surfaces in the interior or exterior; applied surfaces are out of current favour as they require careful design and application and lack translucency
  • Genuine wood trim, rare but used in some high-end applications
  • Exterior vinyl roof covers, simulating the appearance of a convertible (out of current favour)
  • Padded plastic top additions to simulate a removable top portion—a landau top (out of current favor)

  • Trunk/boot/ hatch : The trunk or boot of an automobile or car is the vehicle's main storage, luggage, or cargo compartment. Trunk is used in  North American English and Jamaican English; boot is used elsewhere in the English-speaking world, except in South Asia, where it is called a dickieTrunk is also primarily used in many non-English speaking regions, such as  East Asia. In earlier usage, a boot was a built -in compartment on a horse -drawn  coach , used originally as a seat for the coachman and later for storage. (PAKIRUUM)
  • Trunk/boot latch (pakiruumi riiv )

  • Valance: generally described as the lower part of the bumper. For example, for the rear, it would be the long trim right above the exhaust (ALLÄÄRIS)

  • Welded assembly:

control unit will trigger the ignition of a gas generator propellant to rapidly inflate a nylon fabric bag. As the vehicle occupant collides with and squeezes the bag, the gas escapes in a controlled manner through small vent holes. The airbag's volume and the size of the vents in the bag are tailored to each vehicle type, to spread out the deceleration of (and thus force experienced by) the occupant over time and over the occupant's body, compared to a seat belt alone. The signals from the various sensors are fed into the Airbag control unit, which determines from them the angle of impact, the severity, or force of the crash, along with other variables. Depending on the result of these calculations, the ACU may also deploy various additional restraint devices, such as seat belt pre-tensioners, and/or airbags (including frontal bags for driver and front

Energy - põhjalik referaat energiast

Everyday, we use electricity to do many jobs for us -- from lighting and heating/cooling our homes, to powering our televisions and computers. Electricity is a controllable and convenient form of energy used in the applications of heat, light and power. 7.1 The science of electricity In order to understand how electric charge moves from one atom to another, we need to know something about atoms. Everything in the universe is made of atoms--every star, every tree, every animal. The human body is made of atoms. Air and water are, too. Atoms are the building blocks of the universe. Atoms are so small that millions of them would fit on the head of a pin. Atoms are made of even smaller particles. The center of an atom is called the nucleus. It is made of particles called protons and neutrons. The protons and neutrons are very small, but electrons are much, much smaller. Electrons spin around the nucleus in shells a great distance from the nucleus

Shipreport

1)Main machinery On a ship, the engine room, or ER, is the propulsion machinery spaces of the vessel. To increase the safety and damage survivability of a vessel, the machinery necessary for operations may be segregated into various spaces. The engine room is one of these spaces, and is generally the largest physical compartment of the machinery space. The engine room houses the vessel's prime mover, usually some variations of a heat engine - diesel engine, gas or steam turbine. On some ships, the machinery space may comprise more than one engine room, such as forward and aft, or port or starboard engine rooms, or may be simply numbered. 1.1)Main engine The engine room of a motor vessel typically contains several engines for different purposes. Main, or propulsion engines are used to turn the ship's propeller and move the ship through the water. They typically burn diesel oil or heavy fuel oil, and may be able to switch between the two. There are many propulsion arrangements for motor

parchment, or other various material, usually fastened together to hinge at one side. A single sheet within a book is called a leaf, and each side of a leaf is called a page. A book produced in electronic format is known as an electronic book (e-book). Books may also refer to works of literature, or a main division of such a work. In library and information science, a book is called a monograph, to distinguish it from serial periodicals such as magazines, journals or newspaper. The body of all written works including books is literature. In novels and sometimes other types of books (e.g. biographies), a book may be divided into several large sections, also called books (Book 1, Book 2, Book 3, etc.). A lover of books is usually referred to as a bibliophile, or, more informally, a bookworm. A store where books are bought and sold is a bookstore or bookshop. Books can also be borrowed from libraries.
