Hi Dad
Being in Portugal has been amazing so far. Jeremy and I have seen so many wonderful things. We've been swimming almost every day. I have also enjoyed the vibrant night life they enjoy here, we went dancing last night.
I only wish I could share more of it with you guys. I miss you all so much.
Lots of love and kisses to everyone!

3. Descriptions
a) an object
My bed in the dormitory is a bunk bed. It is a huge old light brown wooden piece of furniture. It squeaks when I switch sides or when I climb into it. I sleep on the second level and sometimes I am truly scared for my life. It is not as sturdy as I would like it to be. The bottom step on the ladder is loose and I know that one night I am going to fall thanks to that. It has carvings, but they are all scribbles made by previous sleepers. The mattress is worn out and needs to be replaced. It is stained beyond sense . At least it has not fallen apart, yet.
b) a place
Lausanne is a city in Switzerland which took my breath away , literally . It is one of the most beautiful places I have seen and it is simply filled with history.
I visited Lausanne in August 2012 and while it was raining in Estonia, it was scorching hot in Lausanne, about 30 degrees Celsius. Lausanne is located in the mountainous area of Switzerland and the whole city rests on hills. Walking in Lausanne in that heat was hard, hence the losing my breath part. It is also next to the Geneva Lake which is blue and clear . The most beautiful water body I have ever seen.
Lausanne has one of the most amazing churches in the world as it is one of the only ones that still has original figures from the Middle Ages. The church is made of sandstone and therefore it is falling apart. The figurines also have their original colours, which is rare. Lausanne is also the home for the Olympic Museum where there are statues of victorious athletes. I saw quite a few of familiar faces.
Lausanne is a beautiful and interesting place to visit . I would go back there in a heartbeat and I would recommend seeing it for yourself as it will amaze anyone who took the time to enjoy it. It will definitely take your breath away.
c) a person
The first time I met Kati was in 2010. I first met her on the eve of my university life as she arrived in my dormitory room quite late at night. I wasn't very fond of her at that moment.
She has an oval face that is covered with freckles. Her complexion is very fair , she doesn't tan at all. She has blue eyes that match her blonde hair and complexion. She has a narrow nose, everything about her is slim . She is very thin and looks sometimes younger than she is, she's in her mid twenties.
She has one of the most peculiar personalities I know . She is sometimes very quiet and completely shuts me out and then she can be very chatty. Her views of the world could be categorized as pessimistic, but I know she secretly harbours a lot of positivity. She often second guesses herself and that makes her kind of a perfectionist. I sometimes feel as if she is slow on purpose , but I know it's just the way she's made.
She is an avid reader, you have to literally tear books away from her. She likes fantasy novels best , but also enjoys serious classics. When she starts with a book, it's really hard for her to stop. She also loves listening to rock music, which is what we bonded over. Also, she is a great artist if she has the time and patience. Her over analyzing makes her a slow drawer.
I love Kati with all my heart . She is the best friend anyone could ever have. Whenever I need her I can call her and she's there for me. Although she might want to portrait a pessimistic person, all her advice is always very positive . I know she will be a great teacher one day.
4. Letter to a friend
Dear Helena,
I am writing to you, because you asked about my favourite TV- programme and I'm very happy to reply .
The programme I'm most fond of is Supernatural. It's a Canadian based American TV-show. It's pretty amazing as it's about to start it's 9th season . I love it because it used to be very scary and now as I have grown older, so has the show.
The show is about two brothers who drive around the continental USA. They hunt supernatural beings, such as ghosts, vampires, demons, etc. I think it would be boring if it still did the same things.
Okay, now I have shared mine with you. You have to do the same for me. Tell me about your favourite programme. Maybe I like it too, who knows.
Love,
Regina
5. Story
As the door slowly opened, I was surprised to see Tom standing there. He looked as if he had battled a bear, which is exactly what he had done . Tom fell into the cabin, reaching out for me. I rushed over to him, crabbing a blanket on the way.
"Tom!" I shouted, but there was no answer . He was lying on the floor , bleeding heavily and I didn't know what to do. All my years as a nurse washed out of my mind. What to do? What to do! I kept screaming in my head.
" Jess ....*cough* I... wanted to t....tell you....." Tom was trying to tell me something , but he was too hurt , too exhausted to get the words out. Our last conversation flashed through my mind. I accused him of not loving me and then he stormed out. Now he was hurt and I was responsible .
"Oh, Tom! Don't speak , you need your strength . I love you, Tom!" I told him. He had to know.
"No! Jess! I wanted to... tell you... this is not.... real . You are having a dream, my love!"

Dear Mr. Warren,
I am writing in regard to your advertisement for hotel staff which appeared in the Lääne Elu newspaper (25 September 2013)
I am 22 years old and I am currently studying to become an English teacher in Estonia, therefore, I speak English fluently. I have worked as an administrator for three years in a local hotel. I have learned all I could about my position and wish to expand my experiences . I am the assistant-manager at my current post and am responsible for most that goes on in the hotel. I have good leadership qualities and I do not buckle under pressure . I have a positive attitude and enjoy challenging myself .
In addition to English I also speak French, Russian , Estonian and some Latin which makes learning new languages easier.
Please contact me regarding any queries you may have.
Your sincerely,
Regina Bauer
b) letter of complaint
Dear Sir/ Madam ,
I am writing to complain about your restaurant, 'Eli's', which I visited on August 5th after 2 p.m. when it was almost empty as there was only one other table.
Firstly, the service was slow. We had to wait for half an hour before someone took our order .
Furthermore, the food was too expensive as we had to pay £ 30 each for green salad and beef curry.
To make matters worse , the staff were not helpful. We had to call the waiters three times when we needed something.
I trust that you will give this matter serious consideration and that this will not be repeated.
Yours faithfully,
Regina Bauer
c) asking for information
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to you about the GTDC course . I would like to join this course to better my skills . Although I am excited to participate, I have a few questions about the course.
Firstly, I would like to know if there are any entrance tests. I would also like to know how to take them and what the requirements are. In addition, could you tell me more about the e-learning facilities as I may not be able to attend the course physically.
Lastly, I would be grateful if you could tell me something about the benefits of graduating your course.
I look forward to receiving your reply.
Yours faithfully,
Regina Bauer
