It is said that advertising is legalized lying

It is said that advertising is legalized lying. Are the advertised products as useful and needed as they are presented to be? Ads want to make us believe that we need the things or services they are advertising. Advertisements are often placed anywhere people can easily see or hear the information such as TV- or radio commercials. Most of the potential consumers look at the products offered by the media and assume that these items would be effective and useful to them in everyday use. Therefore

Lying is a natural and inevitable part of any good relationship

Lying is a natural and inevitable part of any good relationship Most relationship experts note honesty as number one requirement to have a happy and successful relationship. Somehow many people seem to disagree. After all, if it was all that simple, why would anyone lie? Don't they want to be happy? Perhaps reality is not that straightforward. Sometimes telling the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth is the worst thing to be done. From time to time truth can be hurtful. Noone wants to hear that they look exceptionally bad today, especially when they really do. A little fiction can save the day for everyone. Furthermore truth can be so complicated that noone really knows , what is real and what is not. Particularly when it concernes human emotions. There is no certainity, everything changes in time, and what is said genuinely today may become a lie tomorrow. People can be upset, sad or angry and say somethi...

Honesty is always the best policy

Honesty is always the best policy Honesty is one of the first things that parents teach their children, and it is for a good reason. They say that honesty is the most valuable attribute in a person. But is it really the best policy? It isn´t always easy to remain totally honest in difficult situations. We have all lied to our close friends and parents, just for our own good. But the truth is that you always get caught with lying and it only makes things worse. Being dishonest may lead to serious consequenses amd you have to deal with them afterwards. Honesty isn´t only important in your personal life, but also in business. Being honest will help you get a good job and respect. Although there are ways to earn money dishonestly, it won´t give us a good social status. Best feeling in life is when you are respected, but if you are caught lying then people won´t look at you the same way

Is Honesty Always the Best Policy?

Is Honesty Always the Best Policy? Is honesty the best policy in any situation? Some people are very reliable and they hate those who tell lies for any reason. Other people accept "white lies" when situation insists it, even if they usually do not like lying. Dispite their acceptance of white lies, lying is not a good policy. I agree that honesty is the the best policy in a relationship. Children are teached early at school and home that lies are bad and they should not do it. Despite this, I believe that without very small lies, we can not cope with life. I am quite sure that there are no such people who never lies. I do not agree with large lies, which can harm someone. I agree that honesty is good, but often it remains unpaid. For example, few weeks

She decided to kill Snow White by herself. She pretended to be an old lady and went to the house where the 7 dwarfs lived. The wicked witch offered her the poisoned apple and when she took a bite, poor Snow White fell into a deep sleep. When the seven dwarfs came home to find Snow White lying on the floor, they were very upset. They cried all night and then built a glass coffin for Snow White. They kept the coffin in front of the cottage. One day, Prince Charming was going past the cottage and he saw Snow White lying in the coffin. He said to the dwarfs, "My! My! She is so beautiful! I would like to kiss her!" And he did. Immediately, Snow White opened her eyes. She was alive again! The Prince and the seven dwarfs were very happy

Floods and Tsunamis

Some floods can occur suddenly and recede quickly. Others take days or even months to build and discharge. When floods happen in an area that people live, the water carries along objects like houses, bridges, cars, furniture and even people. It can wipe away farms, trees and many more heavy items. Floods occur at irregular intervals and vary in size, duration and the affected area. It is important to note that water naturally flows from high areas to low lying areas. This means low-lying areas may flood quickly before it begins to get to higher ground. Flooding is extremely dangerous and has the potential to wipe away an entire city, coastline or area, and cause extensive damage to life and property. It also has great erosive power and can be extremely destructive, even if it is a foot high. A tsunami (pronounced sue-nahm-ee) is a series of huge waves that can cause great devastation and loss of life when they strike a coast.

Agriculture

Agriculture employs less than 2 per cent of the population and contributes 2 per cent of GDP. However, it achieves high levels of efficiency and productivity. Britain is self-sufficient in 58 per cent of all types of food and animal feed. Large parts of Britain, notably in Scotland and Wales, are suitable only for grazing. Overall, in the first half of the 1990s about 39 per cent of agricultural land was under pasture, another 27 per cent under rough grazing, and the remainder under crops or lying fallow. Over half of all full-time farms are devoted to dairy or beef farming, or sheep. Cattle and sheep contribute more than 40 per cent of the value of gross agricultural output. Arable farming is concentrated mainly in eastern and south-central England and in eastern Scotland. The main crops grown are wheat, barley, oilseed rape, sugar beet, potatoes and oats. There is also a significant horticultural industry producing a variety of vegetables, orchard and soft fruits, and bulbs and flowers

Henry Moore

instrumental in introducing a particular form of modernism to the United Kingdom. His ability in later life to fulfill large-scale commissions made him exceptionally wealthy. Yet he lived frugally and most of the money he earned went towards supporting the Henry Moore Foundation, which continues to support education and promotion of the arts. His forms are usually abstractions of the human figure, typically depicting mother-and-child or lying figures. Reclining line was even considered as his signature. Moore's works are usually suggestive of the female body, apart from a phase in the 1950s when he sculpted family groups. His forms are generally pierced or contain hollow spaces. Many translators liken the wavy form of his lying figures to the landscape and hills of his birthplace, Yorkshire. Moore made many preparatory sketches and drawings for each sculpture. Most of these

He stopped in front of the school and were still wondering that there were nobody moving around. He opened the door and stepped in. Finally, he heard some noise, but he couldn't understand the meaning. That was coming behind the corner, where Bill had just stepped. He saw a policeman lying and there were blood everywhere. He touched the man and didn't know what to do. Bill decided to run away. Cause he was incautious he fell and hit his head. After waking up and thinking a little bit he saw a sign, which said: ,,Refused to work and disturbe in field-day!" That said everything. His headache wasn't so tender too. He was so pleased that he fell asleep again. AsmeriMarko

ARE FACEBOOK USERS MORE OR LESS LONELY?

for fun or to make new friends or to keep in touch with your friends/relatives who live far away from you. I agree that in some cases people get addicted to facebook , I was once too. I used to stay all day in facebook . but now I don’t , I hardly ever use it . when I didn’t have with who to talk , I felt lonely . I only stayed in my room waiting for someone to text me .Now I just to enjoy life with my friends near me , not imaginary friends, who sometimes can be lying for different things . so using social networks is sometimes dangerous. Mostly for little children . So in conclusion facebook users are more lonely when they have become addicted to it.Only for them. There are plenty of reasons people feel lonelier than they used to, and technology undoubtedly has a lot to do with it. Just not Facebook.

Agatha Cristie - The Clocks

Book Review I read a book The Clocks by Agatha Cristie. It is an exciting detective story about a investigation that takes place when a unknown dead male was found in a blind lady's hotel room. The dead body was found when the blind lady, Miss Pebmarsh called to the secretary bureau and needed a stenographer to her room at three o' clock. The stenographist, Sheila Webb found the body lying on the ground after she went in. The investigation begins when two police inspectors Colin Lamb and Dick Hardcastle start to question people who lived nearby. Since the police dont get very far, Hercule Poirot is hired to solve the case. Particular intrest in this story will be on Josiah Bland and Valerie Bland, because it is found that Josiah had another wife long time ago, who is now dead. The family

"FRIENDSHIP"

Moreover, they do not talk at all, but sometimes it is even better. Sometimes animals are better friends than people just because they listen and do not talk out of turn. Which is my vision of a true friend? He or she has to be someone, who I can completely trust. In addition he or she has to be warm-hearted and communicative. A friend should be someone who is really interested in my life and wishes me the best. In friendship there should not be enviousness, tartuffism and lying. Owing to this, I have many friends, but only a couple of them I can call true friends. In conclusion I would like to say that I am sure that almost everybody in this world has at least one friend. It can be a husband, mother, father, sister, first deskmate, coworker or somebody else. Friends are important, because they improve each other and as soon as all of them are gone we feel lonely.

A little consideration, a little thought for others makes all the difference

not said. Help others with their problems, even if they are just strangers to you. There are always something good in people even if they do bad things, remember that. When you see good in people you will feel more positive. Donate to hospitals or people who need it. You do not need to donate to everybody, but if you can, it would be nice. You can also donate blood or organs. Many people need those things. Think of it, that you can save someone’s life. Do not never lie. Lying is very bad and it takes lot energy, because you have to remember everything what you have said before. Do not hate anybody. Forgive everyone, it may take time, but forgive. Forgiveness will make you feel better and happier. Take more time, to go out and feel the nature. Do not throw trash in the nature. You have to keep the environment clean. It is horrible to see trash in the nature. Recycle trash like newspaper and plastic. Take those to other bags.

Tolerance.

what would you do? More then a few of us pretend as if they had not seen anything. I myself would feel awful, but I wouldn't know what to do either. Although I would condone myself with the idea, that life is difficult and it's just something you have to deal with. But does tolerance mean that all manners should be accepted? No, of course not. Manners that disrespect or hurt others, like being mean or bullying, or manners that break social rules, like lying or stealing, should not be tolerated. Tolerance is about accepting people for who they are -- not about accepting bad behavior. Tolerance also means treating others the way you would like to be treated. Nobody wants to be mocked or even be a victim of physical violence. In reality, we have no idea how much pain our small insignificant words can cause. We may think we are strong, but we fought inconsiderate of the fact, that not all are as strong as us.

Heartless

"But I'll go again, tomorrow, and bring you twice the money! I promise! So don't punish me, okay?" The man stood up and walked slowly towards the girl. "I promised your mother to take care of you, yet, if you are useless in even collecting money from the rich, I can't help you! This is the end, Heartless! Go to the dorms, pack your things and leave my orphanage at once! You are no longer welcome here!" Heartless tried to protest, but the man hit her, so there she was now lying helplessly on the floor. Suddenly, someone else knocked on the door and two other girls and an older boy came in. They saw Heartless, yet knew that they had no allowance to help her. The man asked them what had they brought and after taking all the money they showed away, he said, "Well, Heartless, you should've done as well as Loveless' s team. Then you'd still be one of us!" But the little girl grinned and said proudly, "I prefer keeping my honor rather

Gothic story

Home alone Ella was left all alone in the mansion. She hated that but since she was only seventeen her opinion was often unheard. Nobody cared that she hadn't even wanted to move there. A big house with three storeys and an attic is usually the place where all scary movies take place and she knew that. Ella was feeling terrified. She was on the ground floor, in the living room. It wasn't exactly the best place to be in, since the walls of the room were covered with old paintings of men with harrowing looks in their eyes, eyes that seemed to be moving. But she couldn't move. The thought of being anywhere, closer to the attic made her faint. Ella was sitting on the couch and listening to her favourite song, trying not to hear the howling wind and the baying of distant dogs outside. The volume was set almost unbearably loud because she knew that all scary movies started with the main character he...

Shatelie world

But the truth isn't so fabulous and spotless as the reality our little heroine had to face. Yes, there is proof that she lived, but beauty? I'm afraid it's just for illustration, because as a matter of fact her father was an ordinary farmer, and logically she had as much beauty as a goat was a cow. It means she was considered quite ugly. One day, after the tiring work in the garden, she felt very dizzy all of sudden and soon fainted under the heating sunlight. When she woke up, she was lying on the floor of a beautiful castle. There were flowers everywhere, but no doors as she noticed soon. "Where oh Earth am I?" the girl wondered now. She wasn't scared, just tired of the work she had to do on her father's farm. Suddenly, strange music of a lonely violin started playing. The melody was so unhappy that Shatelie wanted to cry. She didn't see anyone, yet the music was so close to her heart! "You're so sad," she said and closed her eyes to listen, but an unexpected silence arrived. "Why

Policy of 2016

Party, Reform Party. They were arguing a lot and the previous leader Taavi Rõivas did not control the Party and also he could not control the government. That is the reason why Taavi Rõivas was forced to resign from the government and he stepped down as the chairman of the party. The new government left the Reform Party opposition of coalition. The new government turned new page, but ministers are quite the same and there has always been lying in the government. I think there would not be much changes, because people do not change. Changing the government so frequently shows that our politicians and ministers are not strong enough to handle so many crisis. It is sad, that our lives depend, one way or another, of what our country’s government does and decides.

Halloweeni jutt

" "No way," Ben said, pushing open the gate. Suddenly, a strong gust of wind rustled the leaves and a loud crash came from the porch. Both friends jumped at the noise. "It's just the wind," Ben said a little shakily. Although Ben and John felt a little nervous, they walked slowly through the creaky front gate and up the long sidewalk. The old stairs creaked as they climbed onto the porch. Lying on the floor of the porch they saw a broken flower pot. "That's what made the loud crash we heard," Ben said. "See? There's nothing scary here." "Yeah," John said, "Go ahead, Ben." Just then Ben and John saw a large, strange shadow behind the wavy glass in the front door. Suddenly, the shadow started moving towards them! Before they could knock or even think, the door flew open! A large pumpkin stood before them! Ben and John shouted and jumped back with a start! John turned to run away.

"The perfect man"

also a very good boy friend who falls in love with her, but since she is used to moving she is not confidant enough with making much friends, specially boyfriends. In New York Holly realizes a lot of important things about the meaning of family and that you have to keep the ones you love, close to you. She also realizes that it's bad to lie. Positive aspects is for an example that you can learn a lot from this film. Like that there is no point in lying, because every lie grows bigger and bigger until it consumes everything and goes out of control. And every lie comes out in the future. The second thing is that you can't keep running from your mistakes. You have to face them if you want to get over them and make them dissapear. this film is also very well-written. I'm sure the director thought it through many times before he started making it. In fact, I really like one point in the movie: it's tjhat there is the perfect man for everyone

Scotland

writing, was largely the same as the kingdom of the Scots in the reign of Alexander (11071124). However, by the tenth century, the Pictish kingdom was dominated by what we can recognise as Gaelic culture, and had developed an Irish conquest myth around the ancestor of the contemporary royal dynasty, Cined mac Ailpn (Kenneth MacAlpin). From a base of territory in eastern Scotland north of the River Forth and south of the River Oykel, the kingdom acquired control of the lands lying to the north and south. By the 12th century, the kings of Alba had added to their territories the Anglic-speaking land in the south-east and attained overlordship of Gaelic-speaking Galloway and Norse-speaking Caithness; by the end of the 13th century, the kingdom had assumed approximately its modern borders. However, processes of cultural and economic change beginning in the 12th century ensured Scotland looked very different in the later Middle Ages

Analüüs Swifti kirjandusest inglise keeles

fighting over which end of an egg to break. Swift also parodies the political parties within England. The Tory party is represented by the Low Heels while the Whigs are represented by the High Heels. Considering that Swift himself changed parties, he must have understood that political allegiance was important. Yet, political bickering is often about such unimportant matters as the height of one's heels. It is interesting to note that even though lying is seen as a terrible offense in Lilliput, Flimnap tells a huge lie (that Gulliver slept with Flimnap's wife) and gets away with it. Apart from the ludicrous physical implications of a giant having relations with a Lilliputian, the problem here is that the society must be able to enforce its norm against lying for the law to matter. This may also be a commentary on the seeming ability of those in positions of power to get away with breaking the law. When the law comes
