Interview with Chinese lecturer

authority. She explains that in her experience the students in Estonia occasionally complain about the large amount of home assignments, tests and some classroom assignments such as moving around in the class and asking questions from the other students, while students in China almost never do. In her opinion one reason behind the complaints could be that in Estonia the students compare her way of teaching with their expectations and previous experiences of other teachers in Estonia which might be different. In China, however, the overseas students might already expect the customs to be different and think that since they are in China they should accept the Chinese way of teaching. Another difference between teaching Chinese in China and in Estonia is the teaching speed. Even though the class sizes in Estonia are considerably smaller, around 10 students, and the

subject matter and its facts and laws through the familiarity with everyday social applications such as the use of appliances that utilize electricity, heat, and light. Dewey (1938) explains: The scientific method is the only authentic means at our command for getting at the significance of our everyday experiences of the world in which we live. It means that scientific method provides a working pattern of the way in which and the conditions under which experiences are used to lead ever onward and outward. . . . Consequently, whatever the level of experience, we have no choice but either to operate in accord with the pattern it provides or else to neglect the place of intelligence in the development and control of a living and moving experience. (p. 88) Dewey (1938) points out that an experience that does not tend to the knowledge of facts, the acquisition of new ideas, and to the orderly arrangement of them, is an experience that is not educative

Dec 11, 2011 Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing to inform you about my bad experiences I had while staying at your hotel from 1st of December to 4th of December. First of all, I stayed at a small room with noisy guests in the next room. Although, I had been told that I would be staying at a large private room far away from other guests. Second of all, the food was terrible. However, the brochure said that you have one of the best chefs in your hotel and that the food will be amazing. Furthermore, when I got the bill, I was shocked how overcharged I was.

The Advantages and Disadvanatges of Having a Part Time Job

However, you should take into account some disadvantages, for instance, the lack of time and stress. Generally speaking, students can benefit a lot from part-time jobs. The first advantage is that students can earn money. Earning money by themselves is good way to learn how to be independent. Students don't have to ask money from the parents and they can see that earning money is not so easy. Second advantage is that students can acquire more experiences and polish their skills when taking part-time jobs. For example, if someone enjoys teaching, working part-time as a tutor may help him or her improve teaching skills and gain experiences. There are some disadvantages, too. First of all, it is the lack of time for focus on studies. There is very big problem that students can't find time for studying. It is obvious that if you have a job, you automatically have less time to do the rest. As a result, they get exhausted, and even skip

Michael has written over 50 books - all different, all exciting - and he draws on a lot of his own experiences. He was sent away to boarding school, which he hated because he was homesick and because there was no privacy, and these are experiences that he draws on in The Butterfly Lion and The War of Jenkin's Ear. He didn't work especially hard at school but he was very good at games, and this helped him to keep out of trouble! When Michael left school he went into the army, which he also hated. He left as soon as he could and trained to be a teacher. Michael loved teaching, especially

Friends have more influence than family

They have different expectations about life. They want to be popular, they want to have a lot of friends and they believe that they should be like their friends to achieve that. On the other hand maybe when they grow up and have a baby they understand their parents and they want to be a parent like them. But in these ages parents are not their role models. In conclusýon, because of these reasons I think friends are influence teenagers more than parents. Although parents have more experiences and they try to make best for their children, good or bad way teenagers are influenced by their friends.

Pros and Cons of Homeschooling

Of the many pros and cons of homeschooling, this is among the most commonly listed cons. Keeping your child out of a traditional school environment greatly inhibits their access to other children. Even if your child gets plenty of playtime and other opportunities to meet and interact with people his own age, this is bound to add up to far less contact than the 30+ hours in a normal school week and can lead to home school socialization issues. Missed experiences Common experiences are part of the fabric of life. These forge friendships and build memories, and may be limited in a homeschooling environment. School life is filled with plenty of exciting opportunities for children, like field trip. While you can certainly provide cultural and other opportunities while homeschooling your child, these are not the same as the child would experience in a group of his or her peers.

THE VALUE OF THINGS VS THE PRICE OF THINGS

People with a lot of things are devoting their time to take care of the things and they completely forget about people they love. For example poor people, they respect other human beings more than rich people. I think it is that way, because poor or homeless people know how it is to be poor and they value people, who are a little bit better than them. Rich ones already know that they are better than anyone. Money is not the most valuable thing on earth. There is saying that says: "Buy Experiences, Not Things". That means, that the most valuable things in life are memories. If you are old, the things you have bought are broken or lost, but memories can not be removed from your head. Some people travel a lot in their lifetime and I think that is better decision then buying expensive things, when you have the money. It is always good remembering those experiences and watching pictures about those trips with people, who are important to you. Material things can make you happy for like a

Positive sides of outdoor learning

describe it would be outdoor education is a form of education, when learning takes place somewhere else than a classroom and the subjects are not only about the environment and nature but also linked to the national curriculum. Outdoor education often takes place on a walk around the block, a visit to the cemetery or a local post office. It can happen at a city zoo, on a forest trail, or in a national park. These kinds of locations are conducive to first- hand experiences and these places can provide direct contact with the topic and also learning this way can help participants interact and socialize. Outdoor learning can contribute towards getting deeper knowledge and understanding, better health and choices in lifestyle, valuing friendship and teamwork and also creating an environmentally responsible society. Students get deeper knowledge and they understand subjects better when they learn about them directly

SPEECH: Attitude rather than aptitude is the key to succsess

(I think the numbers are a litte bit exaggerated. 60/40 would be more suitable.) In my opinion, it goes for every field. From knowledge to beauty, form sport to art and so on. If you're talented and think that work is overrated, then you have a wrong attitude. You may be the best for some time, but the diligent ones will (by)pass you quickly. (40 sek) On the other hand, attitude is changeable, nor like aptitude. Attitude can be easily changed by impressions and experiences. Aptitude countrawise is given by nature and nobody can change it. You can only increase your aptitude a litte bit with hard work. Being open to new experiences could lead you to right direction. You just have to find things you're good at. Because it would be dissapointing to work really hard and alwats stay on the same level/ you probably wouldn't get far. Successful people know what they want to achive. They have a clearly defined goal. They are constantly seeking ways to learn and improve

Whereas Uriely (2005) leverages these observations to further a 2 late modern understanding of the phenomenon as pluralised, he does not pursue how these diverse and episodic experiences may be assembled into a mobile lifestyle that offers a unique sense of identity to its adherents and forms a recognisable social identity within a broader social matrix. Indeed, lifestyle travel is a phenomenon that illustrates a de-differentiation of everyday life and tourist experiences, a process that Uriely (2005) identifies as characteristic of tourism in late modernity. But rather than tourism permeating everyday places where individuals

The good and bad points of working and going to school.

Everyone has the right to the higher education, but for some people it`s more difficult than to the others. To leave your parents` home for the first time brings a lot of unexpected outgoings. Students have a issues with the payment of rent and utility bills and they need to go to the work and attend college at the same time. Working and going to school at the same time has good and bad points. The good points of it are certainly the new and intrestings experiences. Students get used to the pressure and studying to handle the stress. The bad points of it are that some people can`t handle the pressure. Students have no time to study and forgot that the first priority have to be studying. I strongly belive that stundying and working at the same time isn`t that bad. In my opinion it`s learning from life. You just need to find the work that fits for you perfectly. And you have to never forget that studying is most important.

Greenland

The interior ice cap is thickest near the centre of the island, where the maximum depth is estimated to be about 3,353 metres (11,000 feet). Underneath the ice cover are the ancient rocks of the Greenland Shield, which is geologically related to the Canadian Shield. Drainage is afforded mainly by the so called ice fjords, in which glaciers from the ice caps pass through valleys to the sea, where they form thousands of icebergs each year. The climate is extremely cold, although the south experiences a short summer. The mammals of Greenland are more American than European and include muskox, wolves, lemmings, and reindeer. The varieties of seal and whale, and most of the species of fish and seabird, are also American rather than European. Circumpolar animals, such as polar bears, arctic foxes, polar hares, and stoats, are also found. It is based on my experiences as a customer. Food and prices Firstly, I am satisfied with prices, they are reasonable. But there is not a wide variety of dishes. You should add more dishes to your menu. Service Another thing to mention is that the staff was friendly and helpful. I think that a good staff means a lot for customers. There is something distinctive about every generation

There is something distinctive about every generation Most of the people in general are all the same. Their values, thoughts, realtions and things like that. But every generation has some differences in them, every generation has something distinctive. Having about four generations living together is something very important, but in these days we tend to forget that. Every generation has something to teach the others, all of them have different experiences, conceptions and ways they like to solve problems. For example the ways people acted fifty years ago may not fit into today's world, but then there are the grandchildren's generation that can show and teach elderly how it is acceptable to do something. And then there are older generations that can remind youngers why it is important to appreciate family relations, remember your relatives and what are real values in life, because

Environment - essee 217 sõna

Environment Billions of people live in the world. All environmental problems are caused by human beings. It is apparent that we are ourselves responsible for the damage to the global environment. If each of us would do a little bit of good for the environment then problems will be less bad if not lost at all. Firstly, everybody should start from himself. I have some experiences of helping environment. Every year many people come to riversides and lakesides to have a rest. But many of them are absolutely unfriendly with our nature. Due to this situation I had cleaned lakesides many times. Secondly, we should follow some simple rules that everybody know, but still a lot of people does not keep. I do not like to throw litter away where it is not allowed and may cause pollution. When I see some of my friends doing this then I explain usually that it is not good and why

Travelling - not so easy as it seems to be

TRAVELLING not so easy as it seems to be "What if we go to..." or just "Hi! I'm back from Egypt!" these are some of the sentences which we all have heard from our friends. Of course we all want to travel and see the world but it might not be so easy as it seems to be. Travelling has its drawback too. You will get new experiences and see different places of the world but all of this has its negative side too. On the one hand you can familiarize yourself with different cultures, see interesting places and sights. Also you can just relax and enjoy yourself or just stop thinking about your problems. On the other hand travelling needs a lot of money and free time. Also you have to know anything about that country where are you going. You have to be sure about your safety too if anything should happen to you

Friendship

It is when you do not have to weigh your thoughts and measure words, before keeping it forth before your friend. It is when someone knows you better than yourself and assures to be your side in every emotional crisis. Different people have different definitions of friendship. For some, it is the trust in an individual that he or she won't hurt you. For others, it is unconditional love. There are some who feel that friendship is companionship. People form definitions based on the kind of experiences they have had. Many people say, "Oh, he's a good friend of mine," yet they never take time to spend time with that "good friend." Friendship takes time: time to get to know each other, time to build shared memories. The relationship is also constructed differently in different cultures Since friendship starts the moment a child starts socializing, the kind of friends that the child chooses should be taken care of till the time he / she learns to differentiate between right

Leaflet - Making New Friends

Making New Friends Hey, all the students! Feeling kind of lost and lonely in the new school and city? Let's come together! Now, when the school year has started, there's a lot more of us circulating around the campus. Since there have been coming in students from other countries, I'd like to point out some good places where all young people could meet and greet. The usual locations are of course concerts, sport and any other clubs but in case you have some kind of a hobby, you should dig out where you could meet people with the same interests. Our school has always had many interesting events through the year and here are some of the near future ones: A lot alikes banding together doesn't matter weather you're an athlete, a cheerleader, a musician or a writer, you are not the only one, so school is supporting different activity clubs. A book worth reading

A book worth reading A year ago I managed to find time to read an extremely profound book entitled The Fault in Our Stars. This tragic, yet realistic drama was written by John Green, a famous author of young-adult fiction, and it provides a valuable insight into the life of children fighting with cancer. The Fault in Our Stars is about a teenage girl Hazel, who has stage 4 thyroid cancer. Hazel’s daily routine contains taking meds, reading books and taking part of the support group meetings for cancer- fighters. In the support group she meets an extraordinarily handsome boy Augustus, who, full of metaphores and mystery, catches Hazel’s attention immediately. As the plot evolves, these two spectacularily appalling figures get close and share unique experiences. Together they help out a friend dealing with the loss of a girlfriend, travel to the Netherlands to meet Hazel’s favourite author and much more. Unlike any other teenage-cliche ...

Charlie Chaplini elulugu

In these films Chaplin developed a character that wore baggy pants, tight frock coat, large shoes on the wrong feet and a black derby hat. By his thirteenth film, Caught in the Rain (1914), Chaplin began to direct his own films. Chaplin now slowed the pace of his films, reduced the number of visual jokes but increased the time spent on each one. Chaplin placed the emphasis on the character rather than slapstick events. The themes of his films became more serious and reflected his childhood experiences of poverty, hunger and loneliness. Chaplin's work revolutionized film comedy and turned it into an art form. Chaplin's films were highly successful and became a household name throughout the world. Charles Chaplin died in Switzerland on 25th December, 1977.

Marriage - an outdated tradition

Kätlin Keinast Marriage an outdated tradition Marriage has been a very important part of peoples´ lives since ancient times. Over the years things have changed and more couples tend not to make so strong commitments any more. It seems to me that marriage is losing it´s meaning and traditional values. What would be the reasons? To begin with, I believe it is strongly connected with the high standards people have. I find that people are quite distrustful of each other, that is why they prefer not to make serious relationships. It think that avoiding serious commitments is like a self-protection. In this sense break-up would be easier to manage with than divorce. We need to be very certain about our partner and feel secure before getting married. What is more, a lot of people nowadays have been married before. They alre...

Constructivism theory

As a paradigm or worldview, constructivism (as a learning theory) states that learning is an active, contextualized process of constructing knowledge rather than acquiring it. Knowledge is constructed based on personal experiences and hypotheses of the environment. Learners continuously test these hypotheses through social negotiation. Each person has a different interpretation and construction of knowledge process. The learner is not a blank slate (tabula rasa) but brings past experiences and cultural factors to a situation The term ,,Constructivism" was first introduced to IR theory in 1989 by Nicholas Onuf. It was first considered as an interpretive meta-theory, a reflectivist approach. It emphasizes the social construction of world affairs as opposed to the claim of (neo)realists that international politics is shaped by the rational-choice behaviour/decisions of egoist actors who pursue their interests

How to find work you love, Ted talks

How to find work you love Ted Talks, Scott Dinsmore His point is that if you want to find work you love, you must understand yourself, your unique strengths (the things you want to do, even if your not getting paid) and become a self-expert, to know what you are looking for in a job and what success means to you. You must also figure out what are your values and analyze your experiences. Once you have this framework together, you can start to identify the things that you want in your life and work. Do the impossible and push your limits. I think that Scott Dinsmore thinks in the right direction. If you want to be happy with your life you must find work that you love. And I know that the most difficult `'thing'' for peole is to actually think, think what they are, what they want and what makes THEM them. I think that's the main reason why people don't make the right choices.

Letter of application

Courses that should be of particular relevance to the present position include computer engineering, operation systems, network administration and database management. I have learnt about the latest technology in these areas, and I have confidence that I can self-learn continuously to keep up with the rapid development in this field. Other than my studies, I have been earnestly seeking for opportunities to gain understanding of my potential and the world around me. One of these experiences that I treasured was a study tour to Taiwan I made last year, in which I had to compete with 120 candidates to become one of the 40 participants in the tour. We visited the Legislative Council of Taiwan and met the vice president of the Council to understand the issues of their society. We also visited government departments and met the famous economist, Woo Jia Ching. From this tour, I have gained much insight about the Taiwan society
