Kiek in de Kök

Due to the history of the Hanseatic League and the Teutonic Order, also towers far outside modern Germany bear this name, like in Gdask and Tallinn. The tower in Tallinn is an artillery tower built in 1475.The walls are 4 m thick but the tower was then lower than today. The parapet must have been covered by some kind of a roof but the middle part of the floor was uncovered to get the mortars and catapults in place better. Compared to the other Tallinn towers Kiek in de Kök was predominant in its fire power, due to its 27 embrasures for cannons and 30 for handguns. The ground floor was a storage floor and there was also the initial entrance. This floor had a narrow light and airshaft and no embrasures. KIek in de kök

In 1696 the present name Kiek in de Kök was also mentioned, meaning "peek into the kitchen" in Low German. And true enough, it was possible to watch what the enemy was doing in their "kitchen" i.e. on position lower down from the about 38m-high tower. Already in the late 15th century the tower was somewhat reconstructed. The outer walls were made thicker and the tower got a diameter of 17.3 m. My ideal home

I have always dreamed about my ideal home. My dreams are not big. I would rather live in a small house in a cosy place. I would prefer country. If i would have a big garden i would be happy. My wife could work in the garden. My ideal home would have 2 floors with a basement. In the basement there should be a big room where i could relax. There should also be a gym and a sauna. That room should have a big couch around the room and a big table in the middle. On the ground floor there should be the kitchen with the latest technology. The fridge should be full of food. The living room should also be on that floor. It should have all comforts. The first floor should be the floor where are the bedrooms. There should be my and my wifes bedroom and our childern bedrooms. Also there should be the guests room. I think my dreams aren´t so big that I can not make them true. I`m looking forward to live in my dream home.

House of my dreams

I live in a three-bedroom flat with my mother and brother. Our flat is very big, well, it is very big for me. It is very warm in there, but my mom says it's cold. I have my own room, and it is very cool, because it is like my own flat. I have all my things in there, such things like: a computer, books, my big bed, a guitar and diplomas. There, in my room, is all my life, if you want to know something about me, all you need is to visit my room. We live on the ground floor, and because of that, we do not get a lot of sun in the flat. Our city is not so big, but we live far from the center, our house is in the north-east of the city- it is about fifteen minutes by bus. But it is not so bad, in big cities you need fifty minutes! That’s why I love my city. My dream house should be located outside the city, where I can find true peace and happiness. I dream to live in a private house somewhere in the village. I will have a two-storey white house

My career choice means lots of years study so I don't have to worry about the rooms for children because I plan to have them after I have graduated university. I plan to study in Stockholm and it's a perfect location for the house. In Stockholm I can enjoy the seaview. On the second floor there is a bathroom which is fully equipped. Small jacuzzy is just a perfect place where to relax from my exhausting day. Watching the eventide makes you forget all your problems. On the second floor there is also a bedroom. It is very simple but cozy. In front of the white bed there is a brown carpet

A letter to a friend describing a house for rent

There is also a back yard suitable for barbecue partyes I know how much you like to cook with Markus, so it's a big pro. From the outside the cottage looks very pretty. It's finished with blue pine and is painted to light-green. It has also a marvelous thatched roof and it really reminds me one of these little elf houses from fairytales. Interior of the house is fully-furnished, it's is very spacious, but still comfortable and cozy. On the ground floor there is a living room decorated with unique lighting fixtures and beautiful wall ornaments. There's also a fireplace. Two bedrooms with a view over the lake are situated on the first floor. There is a sauna with bubble tube on this floor, too. I found it would be a perfect place for spending your Christmas and summer holidays here. Can you only imagine how fun can be the time spent in this beautiful house, being surrounded by all of your dearest friends?

Tallinn town hall

The so-called diele-dornse (front-back room) system was established. In 1346 the King of Denmark handed over his supremacy over Estonia to the Teutonic Order. As a member of the Hanseatic League, Tallinn gained control of trade with the East by the so-called goods yard right. Fast development of trade and economic prosperity led to the need for new utility rooms in the Town Hall and its more dignified appearance. In 137174 the Town Hall acquired its full present-day length and ground floor volume. From that time the Town Hall has its oldest and rarest pieces of medieval woodcarving: benches in the Gothic style. The carved side posts of the bigger bench, featuring the story of Tristan and Isolde and Samson's fight with the lion, are some of the most beautiful examples of medieval art in Estonia. In 140204 the existing Town Hall was rebuilt into a two-storied building with festive halls, utility rooms and offices with the room layout defined by the foundations

Surprise

Surprise I felt so excited when I looked at the envelope. Because it was adressed to me and I hadn`t got any letters for a long time. I had just found it when I came to the kitchen. It was afternoon and I arrived from school. I hadn`t been expecting that kind of surprise at all. There was a name and an address on the other side, which I didn`t recognize. In addition, it seemed a bit weird that the envelope was on the floor, next to the table, but on second thought it could have been there by accident. So now I went upstairs, to my room and sat on the armchair. I sat there for a moment, holding the letter on my lap and looking out the window to let the curiousity grow. Than I prepared to tear it open, but some noise from downstairs interrupted me. I sat still and listened for a minute, it was quiet again. As I laid my eyes on the envelope again the same sound, only louder, interrupted me again

My dream home

My dream home My dream home would be a beautiful two-storey detached house in a small town. The house is surrounded by a nice garden full of gorgeous plants and a lot of types of flowers. I would also hire a gardener, so I can have time for my other duties. There are many spacious rooms in my house that are in well-lit and pastel tones. There are a living room, a kitchen and lightly coloured guest room on the ground floor. On the first floor there is also a living room, two nurseries, a toilet and a study with a bookshelf that covers the entire wall. I would hang pictures of my travelles on the walls, so it's easier to talk about my trips to my friends and family. As I'm the quiet type I would like to have the house in the suburbs. I think it would be nice if it were to be a gated community.

The construction of Kumu stretched on for a long period and, during this time, the concept of the museum also changed: the building that had initially been planned as a national gallery became a museum that functions on two levels: collections of Estonian art starting from the early 18th century are displayed on the third and fourth floors, and a modern art gallery is on the fifth floor. Art predating World War II is exhibited on the third floor; the fourth floor houses an exhibition of works from the period of Soviet occupation. On Kumu's fifth floor, there are exhibitions of contemporary art from Estonia and abroad. It is Kumu's ambition to constantly participate in the Estonian and international art worlds, to which a contribution is made by the 250 seat auditorium, with its film programme, performances, concerts,

Speech: Ideas are our greatest weapons

that isn't violent might be a lot easier way to conquer in life. I think that all of you know that every tool, weapon, Everything that surrounds us, has started with an idea. That shouldn't be new for you. Some people might find it hard to believe, but even the most common things- like chairs, walls, even a pack of bread has been an idea once. Someone had probably felt that his or her legs got tired and sitting on floor might not be so comfortable, so one chose to invent a chair. Think of it- even floor, where people used to sit before chairs were invented is certainly someone's idea and invention. Isn't it strange to think like that? You are probably wondering that why are those ideas then so important? It's a good question and there is no way that it could have that one and only answer. I think that all of you have come across some contests, where good ideas are being searched

Stretches and exercises in office

Stretching this area several times a day can help reduce that tightness. While standing, take the right leg back as though you're going to do a lunge. Squeeze the glutes as you bend the knees, lowering down until you feel a stretch in the front of the right hip. Hold for 10-30 seconds and repeat on the other side. Leg Lift: Sit forward on the chair so that your back is not touching the chair's back. Place feet flat on the floor. With a straight leg, lift one foot a few inches off the floor. Hold momentarily, and return your foot to the floor. Repeat with the other leg. Middle / Upper Back Stretch: The upper back can also become tense and tight from hunched shoulders, especially if you hold the phone against your shoulder or use your mouse a lot. The shoulder rolls above may help loosen you up for this upper back stretch. Hold your right arm with your left hand just above the elbow

It was a perfectly ordinary Friday evening

We thought it is unbelivable and funny, just for people could have something to talk about. After all it seemed impossible. We took different way than usually. We walked until we came to an old, ugly, deserted house. Curiosity was so great that we forgot mom's advice. Approaching the house we saw window frames covered with cobwebs . We decided to open the door even tough we were frightened... Creeeek! We trembled and took a step back .. we realized that it was just the floor board .. we moved on .. it was dark and freaky. Moving to the next room, we found an old broken sofa with black table. The room next to us opened up a hideous view so that I nearly fainted. Hanging down from the ceiling our neightbour. Her skin was blue and he was completely covered in blood. We stareted running away with sister and then noticed a letter:'' Curiosity can cost the lives of your loved ones.'' Immediately we were thinking of our parents .. without any doubt I

Anne Frank and Helen Keller

Anne Frank Anne Frank has been hiding with her family and Peters family at the top of the house where Mr Frank had his office. The entrance to their secret hiding plae was hidden by a moving bookshelf. They had been living there for a whla and Anne tries to write he diarie as much as she can. One day, when she wakes up, she goes to the attic to get the stale air out of her lungs. And went to her favourite spot on the floor. Peter joined her and two of them watched out the blue skye, the bare chestnut tree glistening with dew, the seagulls glinting with silver as they swooped through the air and they were so moved and entranced that they couldn´t speak. They remained ther for a while and by the time Peter had to go to the loft to chop wood, Anne knew that he was a decent boy. Anne went to see how peter choped wood. Peter was trying his best to chop the right way and show off his strenght. She

DOWNSIDES · Mainstream coffee buyers (Starbucks, Nestle) are less willing to enter into longer-term stable contracts · The prise floor is meant to provide a safety net for the farmers in the event that coffee prices fall significantly but in real life it does´nt always work · Fair trade certified farmers receive greater income, but not always their hired workers · Getting certified is expensive, there are joining fees that must be paid if accepted and there are annual fees that must be paid to maintain that certification · The largest issue is the distribution of benefits To sum it up

My perfect room

My perfect room My perfect room would be spacious. On the wall would be white wallpaper with light pink flowers. There would be a wooden floor with some fluffy carpets and a massive bed with a soft fluffy duvet wrapped in white, freshly washed 100% cotton covers. There would be a big fireplace with a beautiful painting on the wooden mantelpiece. An overstuffed cosy armchair with a soft blanket would be in front of the fireplace and a big cupboard would be next to the bed. There would be no technology because I would like there to be some peace and silence.
