My local supermarket

My local supermarket I will be telling you about my local supermarket. It is about 1 kilometre from my house. Its name is Jannsen and it was named after the Estonian journalist Johann Voldemar Jannsen. I actually have quite many supermarkets around me but I chose this one because I feel like it has more of a story than the others. When you get to the building and have a look at it, you would definitely think that it needs renovation and it is definitely quite old and is from the Soviet times

Examples of these locally produced products are beer, furniture, and noodles. Otherwise, agricultural products have been the main commodities for sale. Attitudes to alcohol Data from the Customs Department and from a local manufacturer show that the per capita consumption of pure alcohol among those 15 years and older in 1994 was 0.7 liters. Michael E.Porter (2000) „Location, Competition, and Economic Development: Local Clusters in a Global Economy“

Michael E.Porter artikli „Location, Competition, and Economic Development: Local Clusters in a Global Economy“ kokkuvõte. Maailma majanduse globaliseerumine peidab endas märgatavat paradoksiaalset nähtust. Ühest küljest on tehnoloogilised arengud soodustanud globariseerumist tootmises; kapitali, tooraine, tööjõu jne liikuvust vastavalt vajadusele ning keskendudes üha madalamatele püsikuludele. Teisalt on äärmiselt oluliseks aspektiks kujunenud kohalikud klastrid (Local clusters), mis on fenomenaalne nähtus majandusmaailmas

Ways of using the money to benefit the environment and the..

To: Mark Clooney From: Marju Villmann Subject: Ways of using the money to benefit the environment and the local community. Date: 15th December Purpose The purpose of this proposal is to make recommendations regarding the best ways to use the money to benefit the environment and the local community. Local concerns It would be a good idea to put money on animal pounds. This would mean that people can walk on streets without frightening homeless animals. One another suggestion would be to use this money to arrange parks and children's playgrounds. In this way, there will be a good place where to walk and play. Moreover, children could play in a protected place. Another good solution would be to buy christmas decorations. By doing this, the city will be beautiful

Hundreds of tourists visits the most famous and beautiful places all over the world every single day but mass tourism has many disadvantages and fortunately some advantages too. The most important advantages of mass tourism are the financial profits. Thanks to tourism local people are employed in various kind of companies which are connected with tourists and their attractions. Local people also get more options how to be more successful in making money because in popular tourist areas they can start their own business, such as, shops, cafes, pubs, hotels, tent camps and so on. Fair Trade Tourism

Fair Trade Tourism Local people have often been the last to benefit financially from international tourism. But this is slowly changing. It's happening in Vietnam. The first tourists can see many famous war sites, towns and vibrant green paddy fields. But if they go up into the hills they find a region inhabited by hill tribe people, who live basic, subsistence life. Local people are looking at tourists with fear and disdain. In the villages children are playing and mothers with elaborate headdresses are getting on their daily lives, but if tourists come, they run indoors and villages become silent. In Thailand hill tribe treks have become infamous ,,human zoos". Tourists from all over the world traipse through the villages and this causes cultural and economic disaster. Also the benefits of toursim are often skimmed off by businessmen from outside the community

definitions are required to discuss at first. All these definitions have some parts common and other parts vary; nevertheless they all can offer solutions for themes. Butler (1999) suggests that key problem in ST is incapacity to define ST to all parties to meet their needs. Hunter (1997) suggests that it would be extremely useful to see ST as an example of flexible and an adaptive arrangement, where different tourism methods are chosen by suitability to local conditions. Swarbrooke (1999) adds to Hunter (1997) that sustainable tourism is not only preserving 1 Adventure Tourism Project Management Madli Tuvike physical, environmental and host community resources for the future, it is about meeting the needs of all parties such as tourists, the industry itself and community. Should countries encourage tourism?

Should countries encourage tourism? Tourism has become a popular global leisure activity. It is the fastest growing industry in this world. But it can be negative as well. So should countries encourage tourism? Tourism has many advantages and disadvantages. The advantages are that countries have more money so they can improve its infrastructure which is a benefit for the local people. For example, roads and communication links built. Tourism provides indirect employment in terms of workers who help to produce goods and services in the economy to meet the increasing demands of the population and the tourists. Tourists also take with them, souvenirs which can be produced by people. In spite of the advantages of tourism, there can be many disadvantages too, as there are always two sides of everything. First of all, tourists cause pollution. Increased pollution

Tourism - good or bad

Tourism-good or bad ? Nowadays in many countries, tourism is one of the fastest growing industries and it can bring enormous advantages to countries, especially poor ones. It may seem that tourism bring only benefits, but further consideration shows that it also has disadvantages. To start with, tourism offers many benefits. Tourists spend money on local goods and services ,so the area can get much money to develop the other essential public services, for example education and health. Also tourism services such as roads, bars, hotels, restaurants and other leisure facilities are built. Thanks to it, local people can get more jobs. Finally, tourism allows both the tourist and the local community a chance to experience other cultures. However, tourism can pose a threat to the natural environment and so may have bad effect

POKUMAA, report

The results of the opinion poll are presented below. Pollution General situation at Poku is satisfactory as the level of water and noise pollution is rather low as there are no big industrial enterprises in the vicinity. Problematic areas are air and litter pollution as many tourists visit the place leaving behind exhaust gases and rubbish on the ground. Wildlife In the forests near Poku there is comparatively rich in wildlife. The only problem seems to be cutting trees which may leave the local animals without their usual habitat. Recycling Recycling of paper and glass is very well organised in the area of Poku. More problematic seems to be recycling of plastic and chemicals as there are no special containers for that kind of waste. Conclusion and recommendations Poku is a good place many families with children visit and enjoy their time there. To decrease the air pollution cars should be banned from Poku. New litter bins and containers for recycling plastic

The sales manager should be an expatriate, who has experience in the sales field and knows the products and the company. The expatriates could be used to train the locals to become the sales representatives and agents. In that case there would not be a need to raise the training costs. As countries have different legal systems the persons hired to the legal department have to be familiar with the local laws for sales and trading and also with the local labour law. The best way to be ensured of that is to hire local staff to make sure the paperwork and legal side is correct and according to the law. To succeed entering the new market the marketing department would need to hire locals as they know the Nigerian market and are able to create suitable and succesful marketing plans and stategies to enter the market and increase the sales of the company. Kaebekiri Letter of complaint - jeans

Dear Sir or Madam, I am writing to complain about the jeans which I ordered from your mail-order catalogue. I was not pleased when they arrived. To begin with, your advertisement stated that the jeans would be delivered promptly. However, they were delivered late. Secondly, you said that you were the only company in this country licensed to sell this brand, but in fact I have seen them in a local store. Though your advertisement claimed that the price was unbeatable, the ones in the local store were much cheaper. Although your advertisement claimed that the jeans were excellent quality, the zip was broken. The problems do not stop here. You sent me a wrong size. Furthermore, the free T-shirt was missing. In conclusion, I would like another pair of black jeans, not blue ones as you sent last time otherwise I will have to take the matter further.

Learning foreign language - Why is it necessary?

If we travel, we anyway communicate with different people and it's easier to make contact than we can speak language very well. And communicating with different people make our world-view larger. If your partner, relatives or friends speak a different language, learning that language will help you to communicate with them. It will also give you a better understanding of their culture and way of thinking. I When you move to a different country or region, learning the local language will help you to communicate and integrate with the local community. Even if many of the locals speak your language, for example if your first language is Estonian and you move to the France, it's still worth your while learning the local language. Doing so will demonstrate your interest in and commitment to the new country. It is quite weird if you cant speak this language after 20 years leaving in the country. It makes me think that people do not respect our language

My Town

A century later its population of 7,000-8,000 made it one of the biggest cities in northern Europe. Unfortunately, prosperity did not last long due to the weakening of the Hanseatic League, epidemics, hunger and wars. Sweden finally managed to take control of the whole of Estonia in 1629. Though hard times continued, the period that followed is known as the good old Swedish era': foundations were laid for the Estonian school system, the privileges of the nobility were curtailed, local peasants were granted the right to own property, and so on. Meanwhile, different countries fought for domination in the Baltic region. Russia started the Northern War in 1700. Peter the Great had made it his aim to conquer Estonia and `open a window onto Europe' Together with the Russian troops, the plague came again and thousands of people died. A Russian general described the time after the war as follows: "Between Narva and Riga one can hear neither a dog

Climate, of course is hot as the town is located at the Adriatic Sea. It consist of two parts : the old town and the new one. The old town is the primary objective for tourists who visit Dubrovnik. Narrow strelets full of different souvenir shops and restaurants are worth of visiting. The old town isn't the onlt place to visit there. Outside of the town walls you can find even more resturants, where you can sit next to the sea and enjoy fish and seafood dishes from the local Croatian kitchen. When you are full of local guisine, you can take diving lessons org o to the boat trip from the beach, which is located 100 metres away from the old town. If somebody has troubles with choosing a place to go for a vacation, Dubrovnik is the first place I would reccomend. I have been there three times for now but I still can not get enough of it. It is like a paradise on Earth.

Kihnu, Ruhnu and Abruka. Straitland is low-lying and flat. It was flooded by the sea for much longer than the rest of mainland Estonia. The climate is maritime and greatly influenced by the Baltic Sea. The area features large bogs, extensive forests, coastal plains, warm and peaceful beaches, the lake Kaali with its mystical meteorite flight and a number of offshore islands. competitor's cash register. I would rather it go to you which is why I am writing. I think it's a tragedy when a group of obnoxious idiots are allowed to interfere with our daily lives and pursuits. At times, I get some of that noise near my home, and I certainly call the police when I hear offenders in my own neighborhood. My insistence at having them enforce current regulations in my area has made a difference. I am also reviewing our local noise ordinance and speaking with others who are interested in putting an end to this offensive behavior that takes away from our quality of life. When the boom box noise has been controlled in this area, I would be pleased to begin using your store again. I encourage you to work with the local police department to greatly strengthen enforcement of our noise ordinances. You are losing business because of the contant presence of boom cars. Yours truly, Kelli Sepp

Suggested improvements to shop

To: Clara Philipp From: .................. Subject: Suggested improvements to shop Date: 1st April 2011 Introduction The purpose of this report is to make recommendations for possible improvements in the shop. Advertising To begin with, it would be a good idea to think about buying advertising space on local television stations or radio stations. Moreover, we should distribute flyers around our local community, newspaper inserts or on community bulletin boards. In this way the public knows that our shop exists and we will have larger circle of customers. Online Store Secondly, I believe we can also expand our shop by opening up an online store. Albeit a large number of consumers like to shop locally, there is still many, who also prefer shopping online, especially when they are looking for something in particular or something that is hard to find. Celtic Mythology / Keldi Mütoloogia

Gaels and Brythonic tribes of Great Britain and Ireland) left vestigial remnants of their forebears' mythologies, put into written form during the Middle Ages. Though the Celtic world at its apex covered much of western and central Europe, it was not politically unified nor was there any substantial central source of cultural influence or homogeneity; as a result, there was a great deal of variation in local practices of Celtic religion (although certain motifs, for example the god Lugh, appear to have diffused throughout the Celtic world). Inscriptions to more than three hundred deities, often equated with their Roman counterparts, have survived, but of these most appear to have been genii locorum, local or tribal gods, and few were widely worshipped. However, from what has survived of Celtic mythology, it is possible to discern commonalities which hint at a more

ESTONIA MAP OF ESTONIA Southern Viljandimaa The southern part of Viljandi county catches the eye with its sublime scenery. The area today lies in the very heart of the historical Mulgimaa the home of hills, deep valleys and lakes brought together by a beauty spot Halliste primeval valley. According to several folk tales, it is also in these valleys, woods and bogs that Old Nick found refuge. The great variety displayed in the nature is also reflected in the local cultural heritage. At the beginning of the 19th century growing linen spread and became the basis of the legendary wealth of Mulgi farms. The ancient barn-dwellings and decaying manor houses are the mute witnesses of those times. The riches and cultural heritage of Mulgimaa owe to the diligence and tenacity of the local people. Village handicraftsmen and masters have always been honoured. Mulgikapsad (stewed sauerkraut with barley

Tallinn

Nõmme, in the south-west of the city. The first human steps, that archeologists found, are about 5000 years old. Tallinn`s first fortress was built in Toompea, in 1050. As an important port for trade between Russia and Scandinavia, it became a target for the expansion of the Teutonic Knights and the Kingdom of Denmark during the period of Northern Crusades in the beginning of the 13th century when Christianity was forcibly imposed on the local population. Danish rule of Tallinn and Northern Estonia started in 1219. In 1285 the city became the northernmost member of the Hanseatic League - a military alliance of German-dominated cities inNorthern Europe. The Danes sold Tallinn along with their other land possessions in northern Estonia to the Teutonic Knights in 1346. Medieval Tallinn enjoyed a strategic position at the crossroads of trade between Western and Northern Europe and Russia.

Because of this rapid growth, London became one of the first cities in human history to reach a population of one million and was the first ever to surpass five million. In the decades following WWII large- scale immigration from Commonwealth countries and beyond have transformed London into one of the most racially and culturally diverse cities in Europe. 3. The GLA is responsible for strategic planning, policing, the fire service and most aspects of transport and economic development. It consists of two elected parts the Mayor of London and the London Assembly, who can accept or reject the Mayor's decisions and his budget proposals each year.
