B "How I would like to see him!" said the Giant.
C Every afternoon, as they were coming from school, the children played in the giant´s garden .
D So, he went downstairs, opened the fron tdoor quite softly and went out into the garden.
E One day the Giant came back .
F One morning the Giant was lying awake in bed when he heard some lovely music.
G Then spring came, and all over the country there were flowers and little birds .
The Selfish Giant
1 C It was a large lovely garden with soft green grass . Here and there over the grass
stood beautiful flowers like stars and birds sat on the trees and sang so sweetly that the children stopped their games to listen to them .
2 E He had been to visit his friend, and had stayeed with him for seven years. When he arrived, he saw the children playing in the garden. "What are you doing here?" he roared and the children ran away . So he built a high wall all round his garden. He was a very selfish giant. The poor children had nowhere to play now. They tried to play on the road , but it was very dusty and full of hard stones , and tye didn´t like it. They walked around the high walls when their lessons were over, and talked about the beautiful garden inside.
3 G Only in the garden of the Selfish Giant it was still winter . Only the Snow and the Frost were pleased. The snow covered up the grass with her great white coat and the Frost painted the trees silver . Then they invited the North Wind to stay with them, and eh came. "I cannot understand why the sping is so late in coming," said the Selfish Giant, as he sat at the window and looked out at his cold , white garden. "I hope there´ll be a change in the weather ."
4 F It sounded so sweet to his ears . It was really only a small bird singing outside his window, but it was so long since he had heard a bird sing i his garden that it seemed to him the most beaitiful music in the world. He jumped out of bed and looked out.
5 A Through a hole int he wall the children had sneaked in and they were sitting on the branches of the trees. The trees were so glad to have them back again and the birs were flying about and the flowers were looking up through green grass and laughing. It was a lovely scene; only in one corner of the garden it was still winter. The giant said, "Now I know why the spring didn´t want to come here. I will knock down the wall and it will be the children´s playground for ever."
6 D But when the children was him they were so frightened that they all ran away and the garden became winter again. Only one little boy didn´t see the giant coming because his eyes were full of tears. The Giant took him genelty in his hands and pout him up into the tree. The tree burst into blossom and the birds came and sang on it. The little boy put his arms round the Giant´s neck and kissed him. When the other children saw that the Giant was not angry any longer, they came running back, and with them came the spring. "It is your garden now," said the Giant. He took a great axe and knocked down the wall.

A lamb to the slaughter

Roald Dahl - A lamb to the slaughter täispikk tekst internetis tekkinud vead. (inglise keeles) The room was warm and clean, the curtains drawn, the two table lamps alight - hers and the one by the empty chair opposite. On the sideboard behind her, two tall glasses, soda water, whiskey. Fresh ice cubes in the Thermos bucket. Mary Maloney was waiting for her husband to come him (correction: home) from work. Now and again she would glance up at the clock, but without anxiety, merely to please herself with the thought that each minute gone by made it nearer the time when he would come. There was a slow smiling air about her, and about everything she did. The drop of a head as she bent over her sewing was curiously tranquil. Ülesanne: Read the story and correct all the silly mistakes the internet has made. The first one has been done for you: him (correction: home). There are thirteen more words, and one of them is written wrong five times.
