WINTER WONDERLAND

„WINTER WONDERLAND“ „Winter Wonderland“ ehk eesti keeles „Talvevõlumaa“ on jõululaul, mis on avaldatud aastal 1934. Selle laulu muusika kirjutas Felix Bernard ja sõnad Richard B. Smith. Eestikeelsed sõnad on laulule kirjutanud Vello Salumets ja eesti keeles on seda laulu esitanud Birgit Õigemeel, Karavan, Meie Mees, Noorkuu, Kare Kauks. See laul on kirja pandud Londonis, Central Pargis. Laulu kirjutaja kujutas ette, et pargis on lumemehed ja seal sajab paksu lund. Ta pani oma mõtted kirja ja siis saigi sellest laul. Laulu sõnad loovadki maagilise nägemuse lumest jõulude ajal koos traditsioonilise lumemehe ehitamisega. Läbi aastakümnete on seda laulu salvestanud üle kahesaja erineva artisti. See on üks populaarsemaid jõululaule.

Estonia summer and winter essee

Estonians have two personalities-a summer one and a winter one Estonia is a country in Eastern Europe. It's a small country beside the Baltic Sea. Our neighbours are Finland, Russia, Latvia and Sweden. Estonia's surface area is 45,227 square kilometres. The population of Estonia is around 1,3 million. We have four seasons in Estonia. The air is very humid and it rains quite often, especially in spring and autumn. We usually have long winters and plenty of snow, but sometimes we haven't even had snow. Summers are mostly warm and beautiful in Estonia.

Estonian climate in winter-time.

Estonian climate in winter-time. In Estonia, winter climate is very variable. Some year, it could be very cold outside, but some year it could be so warm you may wear your autumn clothes in winter. Some year it could snow so much, that you can't even get out of the house, because there's too much snow in front of your door and some year it may not snow for at least half of the winter-time. But no worries, mostly the temperature may go below -30 and because of the cold, students are absent from schools. The absent students mess up the whole classes program, because then it takes more time to study some subjects and teachers have a lot more work to do. I think, that when students skip

ranks. White quickly drew the eyes of many in the skateboarder scene including professional skateboarder Tony Hawk. At this point Hawk befriended the nine-year-old White at a local skatepark and mentored him, helping him turn pro in skateboarding at the age of 17. White has gone on to win many titles on his skateboard, most notably winning the overall title of Action Sports Tour Champion, as well as being the first person to compete in and win both the Summer and Winter X Games in two different sports. Following in his older brother's footsteps, White switched from skiing to snowboarding at age six, and by age seven he received his first sponsorship. White has participated in two Winter Olympics in his career. At both the 2006 and 2010 Winter Olympics, White won gold in the snowboard halfpipe event. White has also participated in the Winter X Games, where he has won a medal every year since 2002.

The climate in Estonia As in other northern countries, seasons varie widely in Estonia. The length of the longest day in summer is over 19 hours, while the shortest winter day lasts only 6 hours. It is not completely dark at night from the beginning of May until the end of July. Estonia, on the coast of the Baltic Sea, is at the same latitude in Europe as central Sweden and the northern tip of Scotland. In North America, the middle latitude of Estonia passes through the Labrador peninsula and southern coast of Alaska. However, due to the influence of the Atlantic Ocean and Gulf Stream, the weather in Estonia is considerably milder

Topic - Sport

Topic Sports Tallinn English College 8b form 2007 1. Introduction For some people sport plays a very important part in their lives. And to some, it is even a way of life. There are different kinds of sports. For instance, there are sports meant for playing indoors, some can be practised only at a certain time of year. There are winter and summer sports also. Skiing, figure-skating, sledding and snowboarding these four most popular are practised during winter. Good examples of summer sports are: swimming, badminton, roller skating and golf. 2. The ancient Olympic Games The first recorded Olympic Games took place in 776. Tundra

plain. It is noted for its frost-moulded landscapes, extremely low temperatures, little precipitation, poor nutrients, and short growing seasons. Dead organic material functions as a nutrient pool. The two major nutrients are nitrogen and phosphorus. Nitrogen is created by biological fixation, and phosphorus is created by precipitation. The most distinctive characteristic of tundra soil is its permafrost, a permanently frozen layer of ground. The average winter temperature is -28°C, but the average summer temperature is 3-16°C. During the brief summers, the top section of the soil may thaw out allowing plants and microorganisms to grow and reproduce. However, these plants and microorganisms become dormant during the cold winter months. Soil is formed slowly. The constant freezing and thawing in the tundra helps to break the rocks into smaller pieces. Permafrost consists mostly of gravel and finer material. The arctic tundra is also a windy place and

spectators only. The only event in the first 13 Olympics was a footrace of about 180 meters. At the ancient Games, the winners were presented with a simple olive tree branch, which was cut with a gold-handled knife from a wild olive tree. At the modern Games, Olympic medals are presented to the winning athletes. The Olympic motto is Citius, Altius, Fortius, which means Faster, Higher, Braver. Summer Games are held in a major city, and the Winter Games in a winter resort. The Summer Games and the Winter Games are scheduled to occur on four-year cycles, two years apart. The Summer Games are held in various months and draw as many as million spectators during the 16 days of competition. A sport must be popular in at least 75 countries on four continents before it can be considered for the Summer Games in men's sports and in 10 countries on three continents in women's sports. The most interesting hobby snowboarding I haven't tried snowboarding yet, but i have plans in the future to try it out, because its very interesting sport and it seems fun. Snowboarding Snowboarding is a sport where you use a snowboard which is attached to special shoes. Snowboarding was inspired by surfing and skateboarding and has a lot of similarities with skiing. It was started on 1960s in United States and it became a Winter Olympic Sport in 1998. Styles Freeride is the most common style of snowboarding. It involves riding down any terrain available. In freestyle the rider uses terrain features such as boxes, handrails, half pipes etc. Freecarve is similar to skiing, it's slalomriding. In that style of snowboarding there are little jumps or no jumps at all. Tricks 360 degrees 1 spin

My hobby

tired of my bagging to get some roller-skates. So they bought me a pair of roller-skates. So as soon as I could, I learned to roller-skate. I started with just standing still with them. Soon I could roller-skate across the street. Now I roller-skate just about everywhere where it's possible. The wonderful thing about roller-skating is that I do not have to buy a bus ticket. For example, I do not have to be in traffic congestion. Also I do not have to buy some lamellae tires to drive in winter because I can ride a bus in winter. I can ride in some indoor skating park at winter. Roller-skates provide the rider with so much information about balancing and coordination. They have certainly helped me in my daily life. I am better equipped to cope with living. Otherwise I would waist some fossil fuel in a car ore on a roller. So I continue to roller-skate. Besides being healthier I also spend my time better, by that I mean that I'm not pray painting ore doing something illegal.

Temperate deciduous forests, woodlands and shrub

Temperate deciduous forests, woodlands and shrub Tartu 2008 Location: Temperate forests are typical of all European continent, the Eastern region of Asia (in special, Chinese and Japan) and North America. Also are finded in tempered areas of South America. Climate: The average temperature in temperate forests is 50° F. Summers are mild, and average about 70° F, while winter temperatures are often well blow freezing. The average yearly precipitation is 30-60 inches. This precipitation falls throughout the year, but in the winter it falls as snow. There are four seasons in this biome, with warm summers and cold winters, often snowy. In autumn, the leaves change color and fall from the trees. The leaves decay on the forest floor, so the soil is very rich. Because of this, and because of the long growing season, many deciduous forests have been cut

A memory of my childhood Elizabeth Grünbaum It was snowing outside and the bright winter sun shined into the room through the curtains. I woke up early that beautiful day, because there were guests coming over. Like in any other winter morning i rushed to the window sill to see if the dwarves have left something in my christmas stocking. I remember exactly, what was in there that day, it was kinder surprise. I liked kinder surprises a lot, because the chocolate would melt in your mouth and there was a surprise between the two halves of the chocolate.

This town is visited approximately by 10 million visitors every year, during the heyday there were 17 million visitors. The most popular sights in Blackpool are: the three piers (North, Central and South), the Blackpool tower (inspired by the Eiffel tower in Paris), Pleasure Beach Blackpool (an amusement park), Stanley Park (a historic park and sporting area) and the Winter Gardens (a large entertainment and conference venue in the town centre). Blackpool is also known for its welcoming attitude towards gay people. The gay pride was first held there in 2006. Currently there are many pubs, bars, nightclubs and radio stations for gay people. Tundra loomad

These North American reindeer became known as caribou. Although they are called by different names, they are both considered to be a single species. Unlike deer, both the male and female have antlers. The antlers of the male are long, branched and massive, and they are a little flattened at the ends. The antlers of the female are much shorter, simpler and more slender and irregular. Their large, spreading hooves support the animal in snow in the winter and marshy tundra in the summer. Reindeer are also great swimmers and use their feet as paddles. They can also lower their metabolic rate and go into a semi-hibernation when conditions get very harsh. When it looks like there is nothing to eat on the winter tundra, reindeer will scrape the snow away with their wide feet or antlers and eat lichens, dried sedges and small shrubs. In the summer they the will eat leaves of willows, sedges, flowering plants, mushrooms.

The Selfish Giant Oscar Wilde The children used to play in the Giant's garden every day. When Giant came back home after seven years he was very sad and cried in a very grunft voice. He will not allow nobody to play in it but hisself and h built a high wall all round it and put up notice-board. The poor had now nowhere to play. The spring came and all over the country there were little blossoms and little birds. Only in the garden of the selfish Giant it was still winter . One morning he heard solme lovely music the King's musicians were passing by. It was a sight for him that spring came at last. Through a little hole in the wall the chldren had crept in and they were sitting in the brances of the trees. The birds were flying about and twittering with delight and the flowers were looking up through the grass and laughting. Only in one corner it was still winter . In it was standing a little boy. Biggest dangers to wild animals in Estonia.

What are the biggest dangers to wild animals in Estonia? Wild animals in Estonia, like in many other places in the world, are in danger. Forest industry, agriculture and other human activities in the nature, as well as pollution, disturb and even endanger the life of wild animals. Firstly, big forest machines disturb animals. For example, in winter the machines disturb animals who hibernate in winter. As a result, animals can leave their habitations and go somewhere else where is quiter. In addition to disturbing animals, the forest industry endanger wild animals' lives. Some machines can simply kill some animals accidentally. Besides, there are some species which are rear in Estonian forests. These species should be protected. A further problem is poaching- although it is not a very big problem in Estonia, it affects the number of animals.

Grosser Banda

Winter kalt.

Air pollution in Japan

In the 1970s Japan managed to clean up without sacrificing growth by investing in pollution-control technologies. They made new laws. It was the start of "Japan's Pollution Diet". Today, Japanese cities are among the world's least polluted, according to the World Health Organization. Air pollution in Japan The air pollution is different in different seasons. During the winter air pollution in Japan is particularly bad since the polluted air comes not only from industrial and vehicle emissions within Japan, but also from polluted air masses that are derived from China.
