Samal ajal tahab Skeeteri ema, et too abielluks. Skeeter kuulub ka

A small adventure

One summer evening about two years ago in June me and two of my friends Jane and Elisabeth were in a summer camp in Karepa. The weather was delightful: it was warm and there wasn't windy, so we decided to go and watch the sunset at the beach. Sadly we weren't allowed to go outside after 11 p.m. and it was already about 11.30 p.m., but we decided to go anyway. All three of us put on our darkest clothes so no one could see us. We sneaked out of our room and ran over a big hilly field into the dark forest. Unfortunately a strict teacher saw us and started coming towards us. We freaked out and started running through the forest. Luckily the teacher gave up looking for us very easily, but to my horror we had lost each other. I decided to run through the forest to the beach. The way was really short and the forest wasn't dense either, but I was still a bit scared, because I was alone. When I got to the beach I saw Jane and Elisabeth. We were relieved and happy to

Temperatures may fluctuate by 20º C; in the early morning the thermometer might read 12ºC and by afternoon it may already be 10ºC. Although it doesn't always snow in winter, there tends to be about 10 cm of snow on the ground consistently from late December through to the beginning of March. The sky over Estonia is cloudy for about half the year, and the hilly southeast region experiences up to 750 mm of precipitation due to Estonia's maritime climate. Nature While seven thousand rivers and streams carry rainwater to the sea, bogs and wooded swamplands of different types cover over one fifth of the country -- a world index topped only by the northern neighbour, Finland. Various kinds of forests comprise slightly under half of Estonia's territory. Wetlands, together with primeval forests, represent preserved communities which have for

rich in oil and natural gas. Northern Saskatchewan and Manitoba are covered by the Great Canadian Shield a rocky landscape with lakes, rivers and forests. The Canadian Shield is a vast horseshoe-shaped region. It curves round Hudson Bay from the Arctic coast of the Northwest Territories to the coast of Labrador, the mainland part of Newfoundland. The Canadian Shield covers about half of Canada and is made up of extremely ancient rock. The Canadian Shield mostly consists of eroded hilly terrain and contains thousands of lakes. These lakes are the sources of rivers that break into great rapids and waterfalls used for hydroelectric production, providing power for pulp and paper mills, and a variety of other industries. Relatively few people live in the Canadian Shield because of its poor soil and cold climate. The Canadian Shield has much of Canada's mineral wealth, producing most of the country's iron ore.

Estonia is located in a humid zone in which the amount of precipitation outnumbers total evaporation. There are about 160 to 180 rainy days a year. Snow cover usually lasts from middle December to late March. Luckily Estonia has no climatic extremes. Heavvy storms and extensive floods are rare. LANDSCAPE Estonia is mostly flat with average elevation of only about 50 meters above sea level. The relief of the present day lanscape was shaped suring the Ice Age. The hilly terrain was also shaped by the continental ice and melting waters. The land still rises 25 cm in every 100 years. Kalevipoeg, the national hero, is related to many features of the relief. The Baltic Glint is one of the world's most important denudations of Ordovician sedimetary rocks. Half of Estonia is covered with forests and 30 % is covered with wetlands. The areas which are higher and particularly rich in hills are the Haanja

Relief About half of the United States' territory is covered by plateaus and mountains. The eastern part of the country is occupied by the Appalachian Mountains, which in the north come close to the Atlantic coast and in the south are separated from it by the Atlantic Lowland. The Appalachian Mountains are old and worn down. West of the Appalachians stretch the Central Plains, the Great Plains, and the Mexican Lowland. The Central Plains are 500-400 m high and have a hilly relief in the north. The Great Plains are a deeply cut plateau with the heights of 500 m in the east to 1600 m in the west. The flat Mexican Lowland, with the height of up to 150 m, is swampy along the Gulf coast and surrounded by a strip of marshes. The Cordilleras consist of rows of mountain ranges with the heights of up to 3000-5000 m. In Alaska the mountain ranges stretch in the west-east direction. 4

South-eastern and eastern parts of Estonia are higher than the western parts. The relief of the present-day landscape was shaped during the Ice Age. The land is rising 25 cm every one hundred years. In folklore, many features of the relief are explained by the activities of giants such as the legendary national hero Kalevipoeg. GEOGRAPHY The Czech landscape is exceedingly varied. Bohemia, to the west, consists of a basin drained by the Elbe (Czech: Labe) and the Vltava (or Moldau) rivers, surrounded by mostly low mountains, such as the Krkonose range of the Sudetes. The highest point in the country, Snzka at 1,602 m (5,256 ft), is located here. Moravia, the eastern part of the country, is also quite hilly. It is drained mainly by the Morava River, but it also contains the source of the Oder River (Czech: Odra). Water from the landlocked Czech Republic flows to three different seas: the North Sea, Baltic Sea and Black Sea. The Czech Republic also leases the Moldauhafen, a 30,000-square-metre (7.4-acre) lot in the middle of the Hamburg Docks, which was awarded to Czechoslovakia by Article 363 of the Treaty of Versailles, to allow the landlocked country a place where goods

daytime highs about 220C in the south, about 180C in Scotland. Winters are cool – night-time temperatures drop nearly to freezing, but rarely much below, except in the colder Scottish highland areas. Within Britain there are differences of climate and rainfall between north and south, east and west. The north is on average 5 0C cooler than the south. The heaviest rains fall in the highland areas of the west and north. The surface is varied too. The north and west are mountainous or hilly. Much of the south and east is flat or low- lying. That means that the south and east on the whole have better agricultural conditions, and it is possible to harvest crops much earlier than in the north. So it is not surprising that south-east Britain has always been the most populated part of the island. For this reason it has always had the most political power. Protected by the Sea
