I’d like to present the main issues of our planet and today i’ll name 5 of them . These are air pollution, water pollution, endangered animals , deforestation and rubbish.
Air pollution
Firstly, lets talk about air pollution, which endangeres our life in cities and also the forests near by. Cars and factories blow poisoned gas in the air and it mixes with the oxygen , so the air that we breathe, becomes dangerous to our health. The ozone layer around the Earth, there is a special type of oxygen called „ozone“. Ozone is important because it stops ultraviolett radiation from the sun. Many aerosol sprays and factories destroy ozone and they have made a very big hole in the ozone layer. This means that too much ultraviolet radiation now enters the Earth. This is very dangerous because it can cause cancer. Poisonous chemicals also cause acid rain, that destroyes plants , rivers , lakes and buildings. Acid rain can travel thousands of miles , so pollution in one country can become acid rain for another country. So how to avoid the worst? Lets talk about cars, which are the main means of transport in our everyday life, they are useful and take us to the place , where we want to go. But lets be honest, they have also negative aspects. Like heavy traffic in the morning , while you are going to work and in the evening , when you are about to go home. Cars also, like factories, produce poisoned gas in the air. So instead of cars, we should use public transport or a bike , in the name of our enviroment. And what about the factories? Well, we can’t remove them from the planet, but they should be built in places , where is less forest and no cities near.
Water pollution
Secondly, water pollution is also a main issue. Many peole throw rubbish in rivers and lakes. Ships at the sea cause oil problems, where oil flows in the water and causes a lot of damage, like killing the sea animals and also birds, who are on the seacoast, where the oil reaches. When these problems continue , soon we won’t be able to swim in a clean body of water and the drinking water becomes unusable. In some places there are floods after the snow melts or in autumn , when raining cause sea level rising. When water retreats, it brings along trash and rubbish from the streets in the sea or rivers. Many peole have built ramparts, to avoid the consequence of floods and also picked up rubbish from coasts, where seawaves have washed the trash.
Endangered animals
Thirdly, the life of endangered animals also depends on our action . Poachers kill endangered animals for their expensive skin , fur, teeth and meat . Many organisations adopt these animals to spare their population in the world. Mostly those animals are put to the zoo’s, where cattle-tenders take care of them and where these animals can give birth to their cubs safely. But most of these animals get into zoo’s in their childhood and when they are grown -up, they can’t be put back in the wild -life, cause they cant manage to get food on their own etc. And the places, where the poachers hunt these animals, should be guarded, that the poachers would be captured.
Deforestation
Also, deforestation is dangerous to animals. Deforestation means, when trees are often cut down, to produce furniture or something else . When the trees are cut down, animals have no place to live or hide themselves from the hunters, so many of them become extinct . Trees, including forests play an important part of the air, that we breathe, cause they produce oxygen, so the less trees and plants, the less oxygen. But there are often held planting campaigns , where people plant their own tree and during a few years , the trees are high enough, to form a new part of the forest. But still new trees will be cut down again , thankfully governments make sometimes laws to control deforestation. Some forests are changed into nationality areas, so in order to cut trees down or hunt animals, people must ask permission from the governments.
Rubbish
Finally , there is the problem of rubbish, that we get in contact with every day. We can see litter mostly lying in the streets, but also in the reservoirs and in the forests. This is mostly our fault and we don’t care about the cleanliness of the streets etc. There are organised cleaning campaigns, where people gather in a certain place and split up then to start cleaning the surroundings of our homes and the forests. Every day we throw away millions of tonnes of rubbish. Half of this is paper that we can use again. A typical family in Europe or USA throws away more than 1 tonne of rubbish each year, but we can recycle most of this. If we recycle things, we can save money, energy and natural resources.
In conclusion , there are still many other minor problems, but we are able to improve the enviroment. There is always tomorrow and then we have a chance to put our mind work and to do something good for our enviroment, even those things, which don’t distinguish oneself
at first , but may be very useful in the future.

ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS

ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS Our environment is constantly changing. However, as our environment changes, so does the need to become increasingly aware of the problems that surround it. With a massive influx of natural disasters people need to be aware of what types of environmental problems our planet is facing. Current environmental problems make us vulnerable to disasters and tragedies, now and in the future. Unless we address the various issues seriously we are surely doomed for disaster. Current environmental problems require urgent attention. 1

Presentation about enviroment Good afternoon everyone. First, let me introduce myself. My name is Valter and I am a student of Tallinn University of Technology. I'd like to talk about environment, its pollution and protecting. I shall only take 3 minutes of your time. Let me begin with the word enviroment and what it means! It means surroundings in which people, animals and plants exist. These are the things that we need, to be alive, but they are also many man-made things and technical progresses that harm the nature. Therefore we can´t live on this planet without basic components which are needed for human existence - air, water and soil.

Acid Rain

Acid Rain Acid rain is any precipitation that is unusually acidic. It possesses elevated levels of hydrogen ions(it has low pH level). Acid rain is caused by emissions of carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides, which react with water molecules. Distilled water(doesn't contain CO 2), has pH level 7. Liquids with pH level less than 7 are acidic, liquids with pH level greater than 7 are alkaline. Unpolluted rain has a pH level over 5.7, so it is slightly acidic. Affected areas Places significantly impacted by acid rain around the globe include most of eastern Europe from Poland northward into Scandinavia, the eastern third of the United States and southeastern Canada. Other affected areas include the southeastern coast of China and Taiwan Causes · It is caused when sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides are released into the air. In the atmosphere they react with water, oxygen and other chemic

Essay on water pollution, global warming, acid rain, deforestation, intensive farming

Global warming Global warming, also known as the greenhouse effect, immediately received international attention. Scientists, environmentalists, and governments around the world took an interest in the subject. Global warming is called the greenhouse effect because the gases that are gathering above the earth make the planet comparable to a greenhouse. By trapping heat near the surface of the earth, the greenhouse effect is warming the planet and threatening the environment. Many scientists criticized Mr. Hansen's report, and the debate over global warming continues today. Current fears stem largely from the fact that global warming is occurring at such a rapid pace. Models are predicting that over the next century, the global temperature will rise by several degrees. Some scientists still do not think that the effects of global warming are as severe as some people say. They think that droughts, hurricanes, and floods often blamed on global warming might

Using the climate diagram describe the climate of the region. Temperate deciduous forest -Well-defined seasons with a distinct winter characterize this forest biome. Moderate climate and a growing season of 140-200 days during 4-6 frost-free months distinguish temperate forests. Temperature varies from -15° C to 25° C. Precipitation (750-1500 mm) is distributed evenly throughout the year. Temperate grassland- Semiarid, continental climates of the middle latitudes typically have between 25 cm and 50 cm of precipitation a year. Much of this falls as snow, serving as reservoir of moisture for the beginning of the growing season. Warm to hot summers are experienced, depending on latitude. In the winter, grassland temperatures can be as low as -40° C, and in the summer it can be as high 20° C. There are two real seasons: a growing season and a dor
