Weather forecast. Millions of people tune into the weather forecast each evening on television. Most of them imagine that the presenter does little more than arrive at the studio a few minutes before the broadcast, read the weather, and then go home. In fact, this image is far from the truth. The two-minute bulletin which we all rely on when we need to know tomorrow's weather is the result of a hard day's work by the presenter, who is actually a highly-qualified meteorologist.

I think it’s not good because if they are always in social media talking with friends then people can’t interact with people outside the internet. If the people are not used to speaking in real life then it could be difficult to impress yourself with words to other people and because of this it could be difficult finding a job. Social networking sites help students do better at school. It helps students browse quickly the information they need and not waste time on searching from millions of books. It helps students do homework faster and then they can have free time to do hobbies. It could also provide distance learning due to sickness or travelling. But in the other hand it’s bad because the internet enables the spread of unreliable and false information. Also people don’t read as much books if they get all the information from the internet. If students prefer internet to books, then schools would start using computers instead of books. Therefore students would

I think that all of you have come across some contests, where good ideas are being searched. For example, several months ago I noticed a contest made by very well-known technology company that was searching for new ideas to implement, which prize pool was up to 2000€. It sounds like a big amount of cash, doesn't it ? In reality, that 2000€ for a company like that is NOTHING, but if your idea finds use in everyday life, then they are able to make Millions out of your idea. Yes, millions, which is significantly bigger amount than they are offering you. Don't sell your ideas for a penny, try to carry them out yourself and make your dreams come true. In conclusion I want all of you to understand that ideas are the mightiest things in world, come up with an amazing thing and you are able to have the whole world on your hands. Since money is very important in this world I would like you to think about William J. Cameron's quote: “Money
Thriller was certified for 29 million shipments by the RIAA, giving it Double Diamond status in the United States. The videocassette of the documentary The Making of Michael Jackson's Thriller sold over 350,000 copies in a few months. He also co-wrote the charity single "We Are the World" in 1985 with Lionel Richie, which was released worldwide to aid the poor in the U.S. and Africa. It became one of the best-selling singles of all time, with nearly 30 million copies sold and millions of dollars donated to famine relief. Jackson founded the "Heal the World Foundation" in 1992. The charity organization brought underprivileged children to Jackson's ranch to enjoy theme park rides that Jackson had built on the property. The foundation also sent millions of dollars around the globe to help children threatened by war, poverty, and disease.
not allow to watch movies related to violence. Lastly, if we would lower the rate of TV shows, series or movies that include violence it may have an affect on crime but it will more have bad concequences. We watch and enjoy that kind of entertainment every day to rest from stressful day. Often we get our adrenaline rush from there and it helps us from not being aggressive or violent after finishing with the movie. Also there are millions and millions of action fans who love seeing action but don´t do it themselves, but if violence will be forbidden from TV it can lead to even more worse crimes because of the big fans who can´t watch their favourite entertainment anymore. To conclude, in my opinion lowering TV and movie violence would not lead to fewer violent crimes. If a person is so stupid that he wants to commit crime after watching a movie he has some serious problems with himself and can´t watch crime from TV anymore
important as the next persons, even if they think that little things are insignificant and have no effect, with enough people these small things add up and make an even bigger change that any single organization or person could ever do. To be the change we want to see in the world, people do not have to be smart, rich or well educated. They need to have a dream and commitment. The problems facing the world today are great, and it will surely take the greatness of millions if not billions of people working together towards a common goal to overcome them. Changing the world does not happen overnight, but it would not happen by not making an effort either. “When the whole world is silent, even once voice becomes powerful.” These strong words said by 16-year-old education activist Malala Yousafzai have had a big impact on people that have doubted themselves about for example starting a fundraising event or listing up as a volunteer to help
First of all, I'd like to ask how many of you visit Facebook on daily basis?... I thought so! Nowadays it would be hard to find a person who hasn't heard of Facebook. One in every 13 people on Earth is on Facebook right now. It is equal to oxygen for millions and millions of people. It currently has 800 million members and the numbers are going up as we speak. It would be fascinating to know, what caused such kind of phenomenon. At present I believe I could say that life has gathered into the Facebook. We can track in real time what people are doing, who they are communicating, what their marital status is and what mood they're in. Even businesses are promoting and seeking for new potential
By dawn on that most famous Tuesday, people have claimed the best spots on the streets to watch fabulous floats, outrageous performers, and visiting celebrities go by. Marching bands, some of them founded more than a century ago, also take to the streets with music and festive dress. They open the day by spreading jazz music through the city before the more than 350 floats and 15,000 costumed paraders take over the scene. Symbols The millions of colorful beaded necklaces thrown from floats are the most visible symbols and souvenirs of Mardi Gras. The tradition of throwing beads and small trinkets from Mardi Gras parade floats dates back almost as long as the parades themselves. Originally, the beaded necklaces were made from glass, but the Krewes switched to plastic in the mid 1900s. Throws started in the 1920s when Rex and a few other Krewes started throwing small trinkets. In addition, millions of cups, stuffed animals, plastic
Where I'm From I'm not from a country of fortune and fame, I'm just from a group that thinks it's a game. I'm not from a place of emotional flow, But more from a place where nothing will show. I am from the seaside, I'm waiting for tide, The amount of their feelings that people will hide. I am from a country with a colorful past, "How long?" they said, "How long will it last?" Dark clouds sent by gods as they form in the sky, Like millions of people on the streets walking by. Now, imagine that people would become extinct, Their knowledge, their data all lost in a blink. But maybe our lives are not what they seem, Maybe, just maybe, it's all just a dream.

Is there a place for libraries in future? I think in the past almost everyone liked just to sit in a library and to read good books. But what do young people think about libraries today? Millions of people around the world enjoy reading and in my opinion it will continue. I am convinced that we will always need in a library. Since childhood people learn to read, have fun and play, study and do homework at libraries. There are so many very great books, and every year their number increases. May be someday people will even start building libraries on the water. Then we could not only read books but also rest and travel. On the other hand libraries could be built for example as hotel

The snow grew deeper and deeper. It changed to solid ice. As more snow fell, the ice grew thicker. It began to move. Great sheets of moving ice, or glaciers, were formed. The edges of the sheets were pushed outward. At last the ice covered most of what is now Canada. And it spread southward into what is now the United States. The ice was probably a mile deep in places. It moved over hills and valleys, rivers and forests. It moved slowly perhaps only a foot a day. Millions of plants were buried by the ice. Many animals moved south. Among the animals able to stand the cold near the edge of the ice were woolly mammoths, woolly rhinoceroses, and caribou. For thousands of years the ice moved southward. But at last the summers grew longer and warmer, and the ice began to melt back. It melted back so that most of North America was out from under it. But again it grew colder and the ice sheets moved southward. Again it grew warmer and they melted back
not enough of something he need get more of it. Human has always been greedy, always want to be a wealthy and command everyone, but others do not let him do that. Benefits of the EU The European Union was formed after the Second World War, because some political leaders believed that it was the only way to avoid conflicts in the future. There are many benefits in the EU, for example the EU has allowed citizen of the European Union to travel freely around Europe and millions EU citizens have moved to other EU country to work or to study. The EU has also given European countries a voice in world affairs. Smaller countries like Estonia and Latvia now can also get a word in world affairs, they are heard. Another advantage of the EU is that the EU has a strong common currency Euro. It makes travelling easier and also cheaper, because you can go on holiday and not have to worry about exchange money, therefore avoid high exchange charges.
In addition to that, sometimes people use a war just to justify their revenge, they just use the power, they have, to satisfy own ambitions to feel a win's spirit. So they become winners, but it is only formally. On the other hand, there is only one advantage of a war getting some territory or money, but it has much more disadvantages like violence, distraction, houndreds of innocent victims, human's deaths etc. What's more, millions of veterans and their children would remember cruelty, violence and rudeness. In conclusion, I would like to say that war has neither winners nor losers. If somebody wins a war, he is the same loser like those who are not, because he puts himself at the same low moral level as a simple criminal.

How terrorism has changed the world? Over the decades millions of people have died innocently and lost their homes and beloved ones. Many countries have been attacked by the terrorists. As a result it all affects world politics and global relationships. It can be said that after the 9/11 disaster in the United States we have extremely strict security control system. The traveling is much more proctected by plane. Moreover there is no hitchhiking anymore due to stricting the security checks. Even though it can't be said to the other types of transportation
HISTORY Story begins in the early 1920s with an inventive scientist named Samuel Ruben and Philip Rogers Mallory During World War II, for instance, Ruben devised the mercury cell, which packed more capacity in less space and was durable enough for the harsh climates of wartime theaters like North Africa and the South Pacific--places where ordinary zinc carbon batteries used in flashlights, mine detectors, and walkie-talkies couldn't hold up. P.R. Mallory manufactured millions of mercury cells for the war effort. The Mallory Battery Company was formed shortly thereafter. And in 1950s they improved that battery, making it more compact, durable, and longer lasting. And now they are the world's leading producer of high-performance alkaline batteries. If not handled properly, stress can lead to physical and emotional illness. No one can avoid stress, but a person can lessen the danger of becoming ill from it. Everyone should learn to relax by resting, taking a walk, meditating. Sports are organized athletic activities played individually or in teams. Men and women, boys and girls can play most sports. Sports provide entertainment for people throughout the world. Large crowds attend sporting events in person. Millions of fans also follow their favorite teams and athletes by listening to live accounts of games on radio or watching sports competitions on television. Sports are divided into amateur and professional sports. The most popular sports in the world are track and field, football, basketball, boxing, volleyball and swimming. The sports have changed greatly since the mid 1900's. Performances once thought to be impossible are common today. There are a number of reasons for this remarkable progress
They have become endangered due to the destruction of their habitat and the variety of bamboo that is decreasing. They are also illegally hunted for their fur. To protect them, there have been many special wildlife parks set up. Elephants live in Central Africa and are the largest land animals alive today. They eat grass, twigs and some fruit. In many Asian countries elephants are symbols of wisdom and are famed for their memory and high intelligence. Once numbering in the millions, the African elephant population has dwindled to between 470,000 and 690,000 individuals because of people hunting them for their tusks. The elephant is now a protected species worldwide, also the hunting and trading of ivory has been banned to protect them. The Rhinoceros, often colloquially abbreviated rhino, lives in Africa. They eat grass and plants. Rhinoceros also have acute hearing and sense of smell, but poor eyesight. However, they are hunted for their horns. To
Finding Nemo, the Pixar movie introduced millions of people around the world the clownfish. Twenty-nine species of clownfish live among the reefs from East Africa to French Polynesia and from Japan to eastern Australia. Among scientists and aquarists, clownfish are also known as anemone fish because they can't survive without a host anemone, whose stinging tentacles protect them and their developing eggs from intruders. It's still a mystery exactly how a clownfish avoids being stung by the anemone. Of the roughly thousand species of anemones, only ten host clownfish. What's good for the clownfish is good for the anemone, and vice versa. Clownfish spend their entire lives with their host anemone, rarely straying more than a few yards from it. They lay their eggs about twice a month on the nearest hard surface concealed by the fleshy base of the anemone, and they aggressively protect the developing embryos. If the young fish doesn't find ...

Clive Staples Lewis (29 November 1898 22 November 1963), commonly referred to as C. S. Lewis and known to his friends and family as "Jack", was a novelist, academic and Christian apologist from Belfast, Ireland. He is known for his fictional work, especially The Screwtape Letters, The Chronicles of Narnia and The Space Trilogy. Clive Staples Lewis was born in Belfast, Ireland, on 29 November 1898. At the age of four, shortly after his dog Jacksie was killed by a car, he announced that his name was now Jacksie. At first he would answer to no other name, but later accepted Jack, the name by which he was known to friends and family for the rest of his life. Lewis loved to read, and as his father's house was filled with books. Lewis was schooled by private tutors before being sent to the Wynyard School in Watford, Hertfordshire, in 1908, just after his mother's death from cancer. Smoking Should Be Banned in All Public Places Many people nowadays think that it is normal to see people smoking on the streets. But isn't this a bad way to picture our everyday life? It is certainly tue that treating people with smoking-related illnesses costs millions of dollars a year. Many people who have gone down the road of smoking don't have enough money to pay for their treatment. Another point in favour of banning smoking in all public places is the fact that passive smoking is very harmful. A lot of people and not only adults but children too who don't smoke may not even have an idea that being close to a smoking person can be very dangerous. One argument against is that the police has better things to do than to enforce a smoking ban
Stress is a natural part of people’s lives. Negative stress can affect people`s ability to be positive. What are the main sources of stress for young people today? What can they do to cope with it? Millions of people around the world live in stress. In particular young people are more often a subject to stress. I want to talk about the stress that young people have. In general there are two types of stress: negative stress and positive stress. First type is the positive stress. It is very important in our life. Positive stress gives you the energy to throw yourself into something what you want to do very well. For example, approximation for exams. In this situation a student begins to

Also more people have started to listen to different radio stations and watching TV shows over the internet. New mass media were invented with radio and television. The first radio broadcasts were transmitted in the USA in 1916. Television was invented in Britain and America in the 1920s. Radio is generally the first of the news media to report a local story or a news service bulletin. A radio announcer can interrupt a programme with a new flash as soon as the report comes in. Millions of people depend on the radio for regularly scheduled news bullets. However, most radio news bulletins do not report the news in detail. In five-minute broadcasts, for example, the stories average less than 30 seconds. Many people also rely on radio for weather forecasts and traffic reports. Television is a widely used telecommunication system for broadcasting and receiving moving pictures and sound over a distance. Millions of people watch television for
The man she founded Evanescence with was Ben Moody, whom she met at a youth camp. Within a month, the pair was playing acoustic sets at Arkansas book stores and coffee houses. After recording several EPs, it was October 22nd 2003, when Ben Moody Left the band citing "creative differences." After that incident, "Anywhere but Home" and "The Open Door" were the records that Amy made with the band. Both albums have become very popular and sold millions of copies all over the world. What I admire about Amy Lee is her incredibly beautiful style, marked by her occasional use of Gothic make-up and taste for Victorian-styled clothing. The fact that she often designs and sews her own dresses is what made me have even more respect for her. What many fans praise Lee for is her refusal to emulate other celebrities by using sex appeal in her music. In my opinion, she is truly the most talented, sincere and admirable woman in the music scene of
I think using mobile phones are the easiest and most comfortable way of corresponding with each other, because cellulars are so small and you can fit them anywhere you want and carry them with you. They are also affordable for anyone. Nowadays almost all people have and use cellular phones, because you can talk to your friends everywhere where there is network connection. The other easy way to communicate is using internet, which was developed in 1968. Hundreds of millions of people are using internet all over the world. Using internet is very easy and most people learn to use it very quickly. It is much cheaper and faster way to chat with your friends or relatives than sending letters, because you do not have to buy stamps or envelopes. In the internet there are many programs where you can talk to people you know, most common programs used in EU are messenger and Skype. You can also send e-cards and e-mails at no cost

Newfoundland Geography Newfoundland and Labrador is located on the eastern edge of North America. Newfoundland and Labrador is home to Iceberg Alley, one of the best places in the world to view icebergs. Just off the coast, the meeting of the cool Labrador Current and the warm Gulf Stream creates an abundance of marine life that attracts thousands of whales, and provides rich nesting grounds for millions of seabirds. To put things in perspective, Newfoundland and Labrador is a little smaller than California, slightly bigger than Japan, and twice the size of the entire United Kingdom. Geography The island of Newfoundland covers 111,390 square kilometres. With the addition of the vast territory of Labrador, the province covers a total area of 405,212 square kilometres, and has more than 29,000 kilometres of unspoiled coastline. Nature
The lava destroys many building and plants also volcanic ash will harm humans when they breath it in. 2. The volcanic eruption of Mount Kelud on Java island blasted ash and debris 18 kilometers into the air. Eruption killed three people and forced 100,000 people to evacuate the area. Mount Kelud, what is 1,731 meter high, had been rumbling for several weeks and was under close observation. The disaster agency said that volcano had spewed millions of cubic meters of debris into the air. Breathing was painful, because ash hung so thickly in the air. 3. Scientists have discovered how lava dome volcanoes erupt and thanks to that they can predict how volcanic eruption will behave. They have discoverd that frictional melting helps predict how a vulcano will erupt. Frictional melting generates stick-slip process what causes rhythmic small earthquakes. Frictional melting takes place when large tectonic earthquakes occur

When the boats arrived at Ellis island, new settlers often had to wait a medical examination. As many Irish immigrants were uneducated, the man worked at building bridges, canals and women became maids, cooks. Poor living conditions, lack of food and medical care led to illnesses and an early death. The population of the USA is more than 300 million. The biggest national groups today are of German ,Irish and English descent. About 30 millions African Americans live in the USA.They are the descendants of Africans brought to America as slaves in the 17th century. For them the USA is a kind of melting pot , where they have become Americans. Others have kept their traditions and culture , so for them their new homeland is like a salad bowl. But perhaps it is better to say that the population of the United States is like a pizza , where we can see different bits and pieces , but together they make something much bigger.
These were the electric telegraph and the telephone. The telegraph was invented in Britain in 1837. They were being used in the Civil war. It allowed messages to be sent electrically over telegraph wires. This was much faster and more reliable than sending messages by horse messenger. the telephone was invented In 1876 by Alexander Graham Bell. The first radio broadcasts were transmitted in the USA in 1916. Radio is generally the first of the news media to report a local story. Millions of people depend on the radio for regularly scheduled news bullets. Book-publishing grew rapidly in warily modern England and America. So did newspapers, which were the first kind of mass media. Newspaper is the oldest type of media. The first newspapers were probably handwritten newssheets that governments posted in public places. Although newspaper sales have fallen slightly over the past few years, they still have an important effect on public opinion

Media in my life It goes without saying that mass media have become a necessary part of any modern society. The press, the radio and television play a very important role in peoples life. They inform, educate & entertain us. They also influence the way people look at the world & even make them change their views. In other words, mass media play a very important part in shaping public opinion. Millions of people read popular issues of newspapers & magazines in their spare time. Newspapers publish articles which cover the latest international & national events, give a full coverage of commercial, financial and public affairs. Many people buy newspapers also for the radio & TV programmes which are printed there. A lot of magazines give an opportunity for youth to be in known in the fashion world, cultural life, sensational news & nightlife events; there we can find reports on education & sports
Wind power It is said that the wind power is the most expensive source of power, but this statement is not plausible, because the recourse -wind- is for free. Calculations have shown that if new oil shale blocks were built, it would cost 3473 million EEK in a year per capita. On the other hand, if wind power were renewed in similar amount, it would cost only 868 million EEK per capita in a year. It means that if the wind power were renewed, it would be 17 370 millions EEK cheaper. The fact that wind energy saves resources and produces neither dangerous emissions nor toxic waste is also in favour of wind energy. Power from oil shale In the time when many world countries close factories that use fossil fuels, Estonia is starting to build new factories that work with oil shale. Taxpayers pay subsidy for oil shale in every year unconditionally the amount electricity produced and also when it is known that this source of energy has no perspective
If I Were A Millionaire... Everyone of us has their own dreams and it is hard to believe that out there is someone who has not dreamed about money. I am talking about a huge amount of money. If I were a millionaire, I could own all those things I have not had in my life before. First, if I were the lucky one, who would have a chance to be a millionaire, there would be millions of ways how to spend it. As to the point that my family has been the most precious fortune for me, I would give at least one third of that to my loved ones. I think that this would be a clever action. Second, if I would have the chance then I would purchase all these things I have wanted in my entire life. I would definitely buy an enormous but cozy house where I could finally make my dream come true - have as many pets as I want! I have wanted to
