Summary of ‘’The summoning’’
I chose a book named ‘’ The summoning.’’ The name of this book's author is Kelley Armstrong.
The reason why I chose this book is because I’m interested in fantasy ,psychological illnesses and have always wanted to read it when I past the book. It writes about death, zombies, mental illnesses and contains a variety of genres like fantasy, romance and also anxiety. Everything happened in our time somewhere where students have the option to learn Spanish . The main characters are Chloe, Derek, Simon .
The story starts with a fourteen year old girl getting her period and seeing a ghost in the bathroom . When the ghost wanted to talk to her, she started yelling so loud that a janitor came and tried to calm her down. Unfortunately it didn’t work and she ran out of the restroom while yelling. On the way down the stairs a couple of teachers tried to stop her but she fought them and because of that they gave her a sedative. After that she was sent to a group home for troubled kids called Lyle House. There she meets Liz, Tori , Rae, Derek, Simon and Peter. On the first session with a therapist, the nurse thought she had schizophrenia which causes hallucinations and paranoia. Once one of the boys heard that she might see ghosts, she was recommended and told to look up about necromancy but even when Derek helped her, they still didn’t get along . Searching about necromancy made Chloe doubt about the diagnosis the therapist gave her so she started looking for a way out of the Lyle House. Along the way Chloe learned that Simon is a sorcerer and Derek is a half- demon , werewolf. Chloe planned her escape with the two boys and while doing that, she and Simon started to like each other . There were many tries until they managed to get past the alarm system and the men with tranquilizers. The successful escape happened late at night so they didn’t get to take much and because they were away from the rest of the world they didn’t have a lot of money . Even though the conditions were not that great, they held on and ran as fast as they could . The group of three had to find a safe place so Simon could find his father , who was also a sorcerer and could help them and give a place to stay . At the same time the nurses and men, who guarded the Lyle House, were searching for them. In some point of the journey the children split and the girls went to Chloe’s aunt, who she grew up with, but on the way there, Chloe got hurt and was losing a lot of blood . When they got there, her aunt took them to a nearby emergency hospital. In the end it turned out that her aunt Lauren knew all along that she could see, talk to and raise the dead from the underworld. When her aunt brought her to the emergency hospital they shot her with a sleeping drug. Once Chloe woke she found that she was in hotel in which she could not leave. Some time later they brought her food and wanted to talk to her but she didn’t listen and just nodded along to them. When the nurses left , Chloe noticed that they accidentally left Liz’s hoodie behind so she tried to contact her and it worked because Chloe already suspected that they killed Liz. At first when Chloe told Liz that she was dead, she didn’t believe her and left but later came back and accepted her fate . All the days when Chloe was in there she had only Liz for company.
I liked this book because it made me very excited about reading more from other sequels. I would recommend it to those who like reading about things that are not of this world, like a little emotional strain and who over all enjoy reading.

A lamb to the slaughter

Lamb to the Slaughter by Roald Dahl (1916-1990) The room was warm and clean, the curtains drawn, the two table lamps alight - hers and the one by the empty chair opposite. On the sideboard behind her, two tall glasses, soda water, whiskey. Fresh ice cubes in the Thermos bucket. Mary Maloney was waiting for her husband to come him (correction: home) from work. Now and again she would glance up at the clock, but without anxiety, merely to please herself with the thought that each minute gone by made it nearer the time when he would come. There was a slow smiling air about her, and about everything she did. The drop of a head as she bent over her sewing was curiously tranquil. Her skin - for this was her sixth month with child - had acquired a wonderful translucent quality, the mouth was soft, and the eyes, with their new placid look, seemed larger darker than before. When the clock said ten minutes to five, she began to listen, and a few moments later, punctually as always, she hear

things, just off the highway. It was not obvious that it was a school; only the sign, which declared it to be the Forks High School, made me stop. It looked like a collection of matching houses, built with maroon-colored bricks. There were so many trees and shrubs I couldn't see its size at first. Where was the feel of the institution? I wondered nostalgically. Where were the chain-link fences, the metal detectors? I parked in front of the first building, which had a small sign over the door reading front office. No one else was parked there, so I was sure it was off limits, but I decided I would get directions inside instead of circling around in the rain like an idiot. I stepped unwillingly out of the toasty truck cab and walked down a little stone path lined with dark hedges. I took a deep breath before opening the door. Inside, it was brightly lit, and warmer than I'd hoped. The office was small; a little waiting area with

them he was piercing the monster's heart with his long knife. Then, after killing his pray, the man dropped the disgusting body and cleaned his sword. Heartless wanted to run away, but she knew that this man, probably not even human, was much faster and stronger than her. That's why she just stood there and watched the youth's moves. Finally, when he had cleaned his sword, he started to search something. Soon he found it, because he took from the nearby ground a large book and started reading it. In the meanwhile the monster, whom he thought was dead, started moving and stood up. She (or even it) saw the enemy and rushed towards him. The man seemed not to be noticing her, so Heartless decided to save the man from the horrible death this beast wanted to cause. There was a bloodstained sword lying before her, so she took it from the ground and held it like the man had. She didn't know anything of her past before the orphanage, yet she felt at the moment that her hands were
