Introduction
I’ll tell you a little about Australia. Australia is a continent In the southern hemisphere. The area is 7.7 million square km. The capital of Australia is Canberra . The population is 17 million. The official language is English .
Australia
The Outback is more than two-thirds of Australia, but its population is less than
100,000. Many people live on sheep or cattle stations which are enormous farms. There are a
few cattle stations, which are as large as the country of England .The nearest neighbourhood
is perhaps a hundred kilometers away , the nearest city is 1,500 kilometre away. People
travel by road or by air. On the roads you often see road trains carry cattle from the cattle
station .Small aero planes are used to take people ,food ,post and machines . Radio is used to
talk with doctor Alice Spring is the largest Outback town with population of 25,000.That was just a small group of houses and shops, but recently the population has grown .
Animals
Australian animals are very beautiful animals. The kangaroo is a symbol of Australia. There
are more than 50 kind of red kangaroos. Adults are often 2.0 meters long. Kangaroos eat grass
and leaves. Kangaroos live in group of , twelve . But there are more interesting animals
.Koalas are sleepy and their colour is grey .Koalas’ babies ride on mothers back till six
months .They live on eucalyptus trees and sleep 18 hours! Koalas eat eucalyptus trees
leaves, they don’t drink . The word koala means “No water ” .In the sea you can find
crocodiles that are 5 or 6 metre long. They eat fish , animals and
sometimes people. You must be careful . Echidna and platypus babies are born from eggs but
drink milk .The echidna eat ants witсh it catches with it long fast
tongue .The platypus has a wide bill like a duck and a wide flat tail .It swims well ,but stays under water for a few minutes and it shuts its eyes and ears first .The emu is another Australian bird which is two meters long .It is the second largest bird in the world .It cannot fly, but run 50 kilometre per hour .Then there is the kookaburra whose cry sounds like somebody laughing .The budgeriagar is a little blue or yellow bird that people keep at home.
Cities
Sixty per cent of all of Australians live in these six states . Sydney is the
oldest and the biggest city with 3.7 million people. Its a busy
northern city and with an opera house .Its roof looks like sails on
Sydney harbour. Melbourn, the second city was the capital of Australia
from 1901-1927.The oldest Olympic games took place in Sydney.
In Brisbane we can still find stilt house and wooden houses . Darwin
in the north of Australia hasn’t tall buildings, because during the
summer storms, the winds are very strong .Canberra ,an Aboriginal
word , meaningMeeting place” is the newest city of all ,which was
designed in 1927 by an American architect .It became the capital of
Australia.
Economy
Australia is a rich country and life there is good .Money comes from
sheep, cattle, minerals, wheat , fruits and wine . Sheep has been
important since the ear list days .Most Australian sheep are Spanish
merinos. Which were first brought here in 1797. Cattle are found in the drier places . The
meat from Australian cattle is sold to countries all over the world. Gold made Australia rich in
the nineteen century. In Western Australia and New South Wales is grown a
lot of wheat, which is sold the USA, China and Japan . In Queensland they grow bananas, further south where it is less hot, are giving apples and wine is made too!
Summary
This was my story about Australia. I think it’s a very interesting
country. There are lots of different animals and birds . I would like to
visit Australia one day and visit such places as Ayers rock, national
parks and the Great Barreer Reef.

Australia

Australia Australia is a country and also a continent. If someone wants to make clear, that he is speaking of the country, he may call it by its full name of Commonwealth of Australia. Australia's name means "southland."It is south of the equator. Sometimes it is also called the island continent because it is an island. There are about twenty million people in Australia. It is 1,800 miles from the mainland of Asia and almost half way round the world from Europe. More than 600 miles of ocean separate it from Americas. Since Australia is south of the equator, its seasons are just the opposite of ours. It has summer while we have winter, and the other way round. States and Territories. Australia consists of six states, two territories and eight external territories. The six states are: Western Australia (capital Perth), South Australia (capital Adelaide), Queenslnd (capital Brisbane), New South Wales (capital Sydney), Victoria (capital Melbourne

Topic Australia Introduction Many people know Australia as the land down under because it is the only continent except for Antarctica that is all on the southern hemisphere. Its name means ,,Southland". The official name of the country is the Commonwealth of Australia. It's capital is Canberra. Australia is the sixth largest country in the world but the smallest continent. Australia has 6 states and 2 territories (New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania, Queensland, Western Australia , South Australia, The Australian Capital Territory and the Northern Territory). The Australian people are culturally the same as the Anglo Americans. There also live aborigines. Aborigines are the ancestors of the people. Like the US and Canada, Australia was an English speaking colony of Great Britain. Today Australia is a modern developed country with a diversified economy. Australia is an island continent of 7.7 million square kilometres, which makes it a little smaller than the USA. Located in

Australia

Australia Australia is the smallest continent in the world. It is 7.6 million square kilometres big. It is often called the island continent because it is rather small for a continent and very big for an island. There are only five countries bigger than Australia in the World. There are five states in the mainland. Tasmania is also considered as a state so there are six states. The Northern Territory and Canberra are also independent but they are not states. Canberra is the capital of Australia and it is situated between Sydney and Melbourne because both of these cities wanted to be the capital. The population is about 19 million people and growing. New South Wales is the most populated state and Victoria is the most densely populated state. The national language is English. It is English because British settlers came to live in Australia in the past and they brought convicts with them who were also British. S

Australia

Australia Australia is the only country in the world that covers an entire continent, yet also the smallest and the driest of all the continents. It's almost the same size as continental USA, being the sixth largest country in the world. It's also the oldest some of the rocks are more than 3,000 million years old. Australia is often called `Down Under', because it lies in the Southern Hemisphere. As a result, its seasons are the opposite of ours. Australia, Tasmania and a number of smaller islands form the Commonwealth of Australia. Because of the country's great size, the climate in Australia ranges from tropical regions of the Northern Territory to the cool temperate conditions in the southeast and Tasmania, where it often snows in winter. In the north, half the year is `wet' and half is `dry'. From November to April heavy rain fills the rivers and makes enormous lakes where thousands of birds come for the summer. From May to October it is often sunny and dry for weeks, and it is

Australia.

Australia Fact file: Australia comprises a land area of 7 686 850 square kilometres. Its population is about 21,3 million people. Australia's capital is Canberra. The national language is English. The official name of it is the Commonwealth of Australia. It's divided into six states and two territories: New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia, Tasmania, Victoria, Australian Capital Territory (ACT) and Northern Territory. Symbols: Australia had the British flag as their official flag until 1901, when the Commonwealth of Australia was formed. Over 30 000 entries attracted the official competition. Five of them, which contained almost identical designs, were placed equally first. The Australian flag symbolises Australia's historical links with Britain, because it has British flag on it, and Australia's location in the southern hemisphere, because it has stars of the Southern Cross on it
