wide -- has given it a hugely varied climate, ranging from the world's driest desert -- the Atacama -- in the north, through a Mediterranean climate in the centre, to a snow-prone Alpine climate in the south, with glaciers, fjords and lakes. The Pacific forms the country's entire western border, with a coastline that stretches over 6,435 kilometres. Chile expanded in the late 19th century, when it incorporated its northern and southern regions. Southern Chile is rich in forests and grazing lands and features a string of volcanoes and lakes. The southern coast is a labyrinth of fjords, inlets, canals, twisting peninsulas, and islands. Prior to the coming of the Spanish in the 16th century, northern Chile was under Inca rule while the indigenous Araucanians inhabited central and southern Chile. Although Chile declared its independence in 1810, decisive victory over the Spanish was not achieved until 1818

The introduction of Cotton Gins to plantations increased productivity because more slaves could be used to harvest product which, in turn, lead to a colossal boom in the South's economic power (since cotton was America's main export and was grown only in the South). Encouraged Southern business leaders and politicians to continue to embrace slavery because the cheap labor supplied by slavery was the backbone of said power. It was economic development of the Southern states and it allowed for the slavery system in the Southern United States to become more sustainable at a critical point in its development. Ultimately, patent infringement lawsuits consumed the profits and their cotton gin company went out of business in 1797.

Estonian Language

German ang English. Very few of Estonian words are originally Estonian. For example, suu (mouth), vesi (water) and ema (mother). One thing that features Estonian is that unlike any other language, Estonian has three degrees of phoneme lenght: short, long and overlong. Pronouncing the phoneme differently can change the meaning of the word. There are many different dialects in Estonian language. The dialects are divided into two groups: southern and northern dialects. They differ from each other so much that it is very difficult for a northern dialect speaker to fully understand southern dialect speaker. Estonian is a very complicated language and there is (I think) no reason for a foreigner to learn it. When somebody moves to Estonia, it is easier to communicate in Engilsh. As result, Estonian could die out.

So it has two languages, two currencies and two cultures. Valga also has a rich history and a versatile cultural scene. Valga town is a pearl waiting to be discovered. In the south, Estonia shares a border with Latvia and here Valga town is split in half, the northern side, "Valga", belongs to Estonia and "Valka", on the southern side, belongs to Latvia. For years, this created a complicated situation where members of one family, even living on the same street, may have had different citizenships and had to go through customs and border guards in order to visit each other. Fortunately, after both countries joined the Schengen zone, border points were removed and Valga-Valka is fast overcoming the separation issues. Two different currencies languages and cultures still remain, making the town an

Cheetah

" The cheetah eats gazelles, young antelope, young calves, warthogs, hares, and game birds. They typically stalk their prey until they are only 30 to 90 feet away. They then burst into a chase that lasts about 20 seconds. The cheetah successfully catches its prey in about half of the chases. Cheetahs prefer grasslands where they have plenty of room to chase and capture their prey. They once roamed in most of the open area of Africa, in the grasslands of India, southern Russia, Iran, and Pakistan. Today, however, most cheetahs are found natively only in eastern and southern Africa. In fact, almost all are raised on commercial farms. Of all the big cats, cheetahs have the least strength. As a result, cheetah cubs are killed by larger predators like the lion and hyena. Up to 80% of the cubs are killed by lions. The cheetah compensates for this by having many offspring. For the cubs that survive, the life span is up to 12 years.

Victoria, Australian Capital Territory (ACT) and Northern Territory. Symbols: Australia had the British flag as their official flag until 1901, when the Commonwealth of Australia was formed. Over 30 000 entries attracted the official competition. Five of them, which contained almost identical designs, were placed equally first. The Australian flag symbolises Australia's historical links with Britain, because it has British flag on it, and Australia's location in the southern hemisphere, because it has stars of the Southern Cross on it. The large seven-pointed star represents the six original states and the territories of Commonwealth. There is also the Indigenous Australian flag, which represents the Aboriginal Australians. The flag with its colours of red (representing the land), black (representing the people) and the yellow in the middle (representing the sun) is a source of pride for Indigenous Australians.

increasing trade with the ports in Australia. While a temporary licence was granted in August 1831 allowing the Sir George Murray to return to Sydney for trading, the need for an official flag to mark New Zealand-built ships was clear. Description The New Zealand flag is the symbol of the realm government and people of New Zealand. Its royal blue background is reminiscent of the blue sea and clear sky surrounding NZ. The stars of the Southern Cross emphasise the country's location in the South Pacific Ocean. The New Zealand Flag features, on a royal blue background, a Union Jack in the first quarter and four five-pointed red stars of the Southern Cross on the other part of the flag. The New Zealand Flag is the national symbol of this country and accordingly it should be honoured and treated with respect. The New Zealand Flag may be flown on any day of the year, usually during normal working hours, and in a variety of places.

Estonia traditional costumes

bought during the 18th century. Today Estonian traditional costume is the most spectacularly exposed at "laulupidu", the national song festival, both on the stage and among the audience. Local differences were noticed by the first ethnographers describing Estonians. The main regions fall into South, North, and West Estonia, and the islands as a separate group, reflecting ancient tribal peculiarities. South Estonia This region is the most conservative in dress. Maidens in Southern Estonia bound their hair with a ribbon plaited from colourful pieces of cloth or woollen yarns. Instead of a skirt, the Setu women wore a garment resembling the Russian sarafan. Setu women were extremely fond of silver ornaments: on their chest they wore a conical brooch, in addition to various silver chains. Traditionally, the large setu brooch was only worn by women of child-bearing age; nowadays older women, too, use it as a decoration.

took place in 1958 and on 20 July the same year a branch museum of Tallinn City Museum was opened here. The extensive reconstruction in 1966-1968 aimed at finding a compromise between the 15th-16th century architecture, the 17th century reconstructions and the needs of a modern museum. New floors of flagstone plates were laid, a heating and running water systems were installed, the stairs were repaired and, to some extent, renovated. The earth part of the bastion outside was made lower in the southern and western sides. In the southern side the excavation was bordered with a protective wall and an entrance was built in this side. It led to the hall and auxiliary rooms. The annex and the original tower were connected by a former embrasure, thus the visitor gets to the first floor. The staircase that takes the visitor upstairs was made during the restoration in 1966-68.
