After moving forward you will stop next to a tiny hill on the Toome hill, its called “The Kissing Hill“ probably because of its tradition , many fresh married couples come here to make their second kiss after married, and attach a padlock to the benches on the hill, it means that they will stick together for the rest of their lives . Also the young unmarried couples come here to kiss, because it has became to a tradition of good luck as a couple.
After five minute walk you will see the ruins of Toome Cathedral. Building of the cathedral started in 13th century and was complete in 15th century. It was a massive cathedral for Tartu and South Estonia. In course of the Reformation and Livonian war the church was badly damaged, and the fire in 1624 made complete destruction for the cathedral. After some time library moved into the cathedrals choral room , it lasted there for nearly two hundred years. After that it became to Tartu University History Museum.

Tartu Town hall is crowning the square. Unfortunately it is the third hall at the same place. The one, which is standing there right now was built in 1789. On the first floor in the right wing has been towns pharmacy since 1922.
When moving to the end of the square we will see a leaning building. At the moment in the building is an Arts Gallery , and there used to be pharmacy on the first floor as well. Tartu people like to call the leaning building as „ Pisa of Tartu“.The building was built onto old wall of old town and other side onto wooden piles. The latter eventually sank and from there the house got its lean .
Cross the street and see a bridge and a river, your hunt ends here.

London

London History The Romans AD 43- AD 410 The Romans finally invaded Britain in AD 43 from Kent. The Romans lead by Julius Caesar attempted to invade Britain twice before that in 55 and 54 BC but the invasions were unsuccessful. They made their way to the river Thames and sailed up it. The Romans knew it was important to control a crossing point at the river Thames, so they decided to build a settlement on the north bank. Although small settlements had been built on the banks of the Thames, the Romans were the ones who built the first city. They called their city Londinium. The Roman engineers noticed that the point where the swampy river narrowed would make an ideal crossing point, they built London Bridge. Less than 20 years later the native Iceni tribe, led by Queen Boudicca, rose up against the Romans in revenge for mistreatment and burnt Londinium to the ground. The well disciplined Roman army defeated her forces and Londinium was rebuilt. By AD 100 it had also become the capital o

concert calls. Two-thirds of the old wall have survived, making it one of the most special medieval sights in Tallinn. The Tallinn Town Hall The Town Hall, the centre of administration and judicial power, was definitely the most important public building in the Middle Ages. The Tallinn Town Hall was first recorded in 1322, but there must have been some kind of a hall in the last quarter of the 13th century already, as Tallinn got its urban rights in 1248. The present Town Hall was built in 1401-1404, but was renovated in the 17th century. The last renovation took place in the 1970s when it got its original appearance. The weather vane was put on the spire in 1530. (The original vane is now a museum-piece). The main facade overlooks Town Hall Square and rests upon an open arcade. The Town Hall is a 2-storeyed structure with a basement and 11 rooms in all. The ground floor

The City on London

The City of London History The City of London occupies one square mile in the middle of the capital. It once made up the entire town of London, surrounded by the wall first built by the Romans. The Roman Londinium grew up on the northern side of the "London Bridge" in the past. Products such as olive oil, wines and fruit were brought by ships from different parts of the Roman Empire and unloaded onto wooden quays along the river. In AD 61 the native Celtic Iceni tribe, led by Queen Boudicca, rose up against The Romans. They burnt Londinium to the ground but Roman armies eventually defeated Boudicca. The city was rebuilt and was gradually surrounded with a wall of stone and brick which lasted for many centuries. During the archeological excavations in 1954 the Roman Temple of Mithras was revealed. It was a pagan temple dedicated to the Persian Sun-god. The Temple was later reconstructed only a short way from its original site and the relics are display
