Sisters
Creasha was sitting alone in her room . It was silence outside, yet she felt that something was wrong – it was too quiet . Her older brother, Denis , had always said that too much silence was dangerous even for the hunter . That is what Denis was – a bounty hunter.
Creasha looked at the paleness of her sleeping twin sister Suzan and thought that it’ll be six months soon as mom and dad left the country and their children to the Fate . Well, the reality wasn’t so dramatic, since they were politics whom had to travel a lot. Creasha and Suzan weren’t small any longer, 16 is almost as good as grown-up! But Denis never thought so; he still cared about his little sisters, as they were babies in his mind.
A sudden voice broke the silence Creasha had almost fallen asleep in. Suzan opened her eyes as well and whispered,” I’ve heard this sound before , it’s dad’s car.”
In a couple of minutes the twins got dressed. Suzan, who had short, red hair and big, deep blue eyes just like Creasha, put on a white knee- length dress , while black -haired sister chose a black dress and a shiny golden bracelet.
“Why that?” Suzan asked her, yet the twin only smiled. They were similar, but thought very differently – especially Creasha, who considered herself a mighty bounty hunter as well, just as Denis was is the eyes of the society.
“Let’s check that noise out,” said Creasha and jumped from the open window to the slippery rooftop.
“Are you crazy ? You’ll get killed there !”
Come and help me then!”
“You idiot !”
But Creasha only smiled as an answer.
Soon the both girls were climbing on the roof .
Wait ,” said Creasha, the oldest.
“What is it?”
“What do you mean , can’t you hear that?”
“Hear what?”
“This…I don’t know how to describe it,,, It’s like a clock ’s ticking or something!”
“Maybe it’s a bomb ?” asked Suzan with an irony in her voice, her imagination was very rich .
Creasha went really pale and shook her sister.
“A bomb? You really think so?”
“It could be. Mom and dad are clever politician – they have plenty of enemies, just as Danny has!”
Damn it! You’re right!”
“Oh yea, I saw something like that in a western movie as well…”
“You’re a genius ! We must escape now, right?”
“Well, do we have a choice ?”
“But what happened in the film ?”
“The characters jump off the roof.”
“Actually, in case you didn’t notice, it’s about 4 meters downfall.”
“So? The true heroes face 20!”
“Alright then…ready?”
Sure !”
They hugged and jumped – it was too dark to see where, but they jumped. Somehow the ground felt softer to land on than the twins had thought.
Then a scream broke into the night .
Creasha knew this wasn’t Suzan since they were still hugging, no, it was another female whom voice was very familiar.
Suzan was the first one to recognize it.
“Mother…”she whispered and a soundless tear crossed her cheek .
Creasha told her to wait here, but sister hold to her too strongly to let go now.
“Okay, come with me then, but be quiet! You’re not the only one who feels like crying!”
Suzan nodded and together they moved quickly forwards.
Soon they reached the main entrance. The door was open, but no one seemed to be around.
“What now? Shall we enter or run away ?”
“They got our parents …and probably Danny too…”
“But Su, they didn’t get us, remember ?”
“Then we must do them as much harm as we can, they’ll catch us sooner or later!”
“Leave it to me then! I’m an expert in getting in trouble!”
The red-haired girl smiled and wished her sister good luck . Then she hid under the bushes that were quite far away from the house.
In the meanwhile Creasha had spotted dad’s car. Evil smile on her face, she entered it. She was really surprised over finding a considerable amount of weapons there . Not even thinking she took them with her and stepped out. No one was still around.
Then, a pack of matches fell from the weapon -suitcase.
“Well, well, well – what do we have here?” she asked herself and soon the car was exploding in the fire the girl had made.
“Come!” she shouted to her sister and ran towards the first morning bus that was standing across the road . Suzan looked back the halfway and saw the terrible scene – her whole house was on fire!
She stopped and wanted to go back, but sister pulled her towards.
Creasha cried, yet made herself and her twin sister continue their escape.
“But mom! And dad! We can’t leave them! Crea, we just can’t! Let go of me! Hear me? Let me go!”
“I’m sorry , but if we want to pay them back someday we must survive – you know that!”
And so they entered the bus. The driver didn’t even notice them and shut the doors . Fortunately – they made it in time!
The transport was half -empty – so they chose the last two seats , where no one ever sat.
“You know, it’s painful…”said Suzan and took sister’s hand in her.
“In our hearts?
“Yea…In our hearts. I love you, Crea.”
“Me too, sis. Yet I have so many unfinished things and questions …”
“No – WE do, you’re not alone, remember?”
“Yea, we were even born together…”
Suzan closed her eyes and the bus rode away – the girls had no idea , where to, but they sat quietly and were just happy to have each other .

But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. Genesis 2:17 PREFACE I'd never given much thought to how I would die -- though I'd had reason enough in the last few months -- but even if I had, I would not have imagined it like this. I stared without breathing across the long room, into the dark eyes of the hunter, and he looked

The Life-Changing Competition

A life-changing competition Finally, it was the 1st May the final day of the Youth Rock Competition. Many student bands from all over the country were preparing for the final battle. The Raven wasn't an exception. The vocalist, Daemon, practiced the guitar, while the others tried to calm down from the pressure that was thickening the air. Matrix, the guitarist, had taken his little sister with him. While he himself was practicing with the Ravens, Alice sat amongst the public. Suddenly, someone shook her hand. The girl turned and saw one extravagant-looking woman. "You are Alice Owen, right? The legendary Billy Owen' s youngest daughter?" Alice smiled and nodded. "Yet I don't believe my father is a legend." "Well, for me he's an idol! I've always dreamed about his live-concert! And, now, finally, I can hear his singing!" "He's just opening the competition..."

Sylvia Day Bared to You Sylvia Day Bared to You The first book in the Crossfire series, 2012 This one is for Dr. David Allen Goodwin. My love and gratitude are boundless. Thank you, Dave. You saved my life. Acknowledgments My deepest gratitude to my editor, Hilary Sares, who really dug into this story and made me work for it. Basically, she kicked my ass. By not pulling her punches or letting me shortchange the details, she made me work harder and because of that, this story is a much, much better book. BARED TO YOU wouldn't be what it is without you, Hilary. Thank you so much! To Martha Trachtenberg, copy editor extraordinaire. This book is an important one for me and she treated it that way. Thank you, Martha! To Victoria Colotta, for all her hard work on the i

watching out for the things that were lying on the ground. "What are you doing, Laurel?" a sudden voice from somewhere behind called. The girl turned around and saw some blue stripes waving, but soon they were gone again. "Um, who is it?" she asked after a minute of silence, but the person who stood there was already gone. The next noise she heard were someone's fast, almost running feet on the stairs that led to her chamber-room. Soon the door opened and a warm hug followed it was her older sister, Mary. Laurel wanted to say `good morning!' like she always did, but something in sister's crying voice stopped her. "Oh poor Laurel!" said Mary, "When Elisa entered the kitchen and said you didn't notice her, I...I just..." And she started to cry, feeling very helpless at the moment. Laurel whispered then, "Don't be sad! I'm sure the doctor will help me! I feel like in a dream...it's so..." But she couldn't be strong any more and soon tears overhold her as well.

whichever he chooses of the girls; though I must throw in a good word for my little Lizzy." "I desire you will do no such thing. Lizzy is not a bit better than the others; and I am sure she is not half so handsome as Jane, nor half so good-humoured as Lydia. But you are always giving her the preference." "They have none of them much to recommend them," replied he; "they are all silly and ignorant like other girls; but Lizzy has something more of quickness than her sisters." "Mr. Bennet, how can you abuse your own children in such a way? You take delight in vexing me. You have no compassion for my poor nerves." "You mistake me, my dear. I have a high respect for your nerves. They are my old friends. I have heard you mention them with consideration these last twenty years at least." "Ah, you do not know what I suffer." "But I hope you will get over it, and live to see many young men of four thousand a year come into the neighbourhood."

A lamb to the slaughter

Lamb to the Slaughter by Roald Dahl (1916-1990) The room was warm and clean, the curtains drawn, the two table lamps alight - hers and the one by the empty chair opposite. On the sideboard behind her, two tall glasses, soda water, whiskey. Fresh ice cubes in the Thermos bucket. Mary Maloney was waiting for her husband to come him (correction: home) from work. Now and again she would glance up at the clock, but without anxiety, merely to please herself with the thought that each minute gone by made it nearer the time when he would come. There was a slow smiling air about her, and about everything she did. The drop of a head as she bent over her sewing was curiously tranquil. Her skin - for this was her sixth month with child - had acquired a wonderful translucent quality, the mouth was soft, and the eyes, with their new placid look, seemed larger darker than before. When the clock said ten minutes to five, she began to listen, and a few moments later, punctually as always, she hear
