Lühike monoloog "Luck"

Some people seem born lucky. Everything they touch turns to gold. Others are dogged by misfortune. But what is luck- i would define it as the accidental way things happed without being planned. Some people say that they are lucky and others say that they are unlucky. In my opinion is not just people who might be lucky or unlucky- it can be single acts. When someone does not win a card game or misses a shot in basketball then they often think that they are unlucky. People who say that they have bad luck are negative. For example they woun´t even play bingo or take part in raffle

Greec wedding traditions

Greek Wedding Traditions Weddings in Greece are quite important, specially in religious people. It all starts with the engagement, which is held in the presence of family and friends. The bride and the groom will exchange rings. After that there is usually a feast to celebrate the engagement. Wedding day is usually Sunday, because it is supposed to bring good luck to the young couple. All the week before the weddings is also important. During the whole week quests visit bride and groom and leave them gifts on their marriage bed. On Wednesday it is customed that relatives come to bride' s and groom' s new house and watch the flour being sieved by a boy and a girl. Through that process there is silence. When there is enough flour people throw coins into it and yell their wishes of good luck. On Friday there is a ritual called " filling of the sacks"

The pros and cons of working as a fisherman

The pros and cons of working as a fisherman

But still, it's an advantage. In my opinion, the biggest advantage of being a fisherman is that you can travel a lot. My grandpa was a fisherman and he has been to North America, Africa, Siberia (not with the train) and Iran and most European countries. So he has got many stories to tell from buying a monkey to the storm in the middle of Atlantic. If you are a fisher you surely will have a spectacular life. I guess they get paid quite well too, mostly depending on luck. Sometimes happens that you are said to catch sprat but you get herring and the other way. Being a fisher means that you can't see your family too often, you can get seasick, what's really bad, because imagine that you are travelling across the Atlantic and you puke after each meal. A sure disadvantage is your catch, because your payment depends on how much you catch. If you lack of luck, then I advise you to not become a fisher. Also that job is dangerous, too

Hobbies contribute to one's personal development

There are very many hobbies, some collect stamps, others might take photographs of architectural buildings or just play cards. Everything we do, gives us more experience at something, therefore hobbies contribute to our personal development a lot. The one hobby I will discuss and which is one of my own personal hobbies, is playing Texas Hold'em which is a form of poker. Although some people might just label it as gambling, poker is largely a skill game which has very little to do with luck rather than mathematics, reading people's body language and keeping track of people's previous behaviour. In able to play poker smart, you must be quick at calculating your odds and the value of your next move, just like in chess. Another very important skill is reading other people's reactions in the table, understand their body language, which often tells you exactly, which two cards they are holding. This can also

Setting goals and trying to achieve them

Setting goals and trying to achieve them is an important factor of success Stanislav Stõkov MASB11 Every person's main goal or dream is to succeed in life. While the mission stays the same, the only difference is how it is achieved. Usually people set goals for themselves and attain them step by step, but how important is it in general? The advantages of setting goals include firstly, acting on a certain plan. If people have their goals straighten out, then they will not come to a point where they do not know what to do or what will happen next. It is much easier to move from one point to another if there is a direction. Secondly, if one goal is attained then people feel already sense of achievement, which motivates them to go onward. Therefore pushing their limits toward success. The disadvantage is if people set...

Dear Paul I was sorry to hear about your problem. The exams are very important and difficult but I think I can help you. The first thing you have to do is tell your parents. They can help you get back on track with your studies. It's easier if you share your problems with others. Remember, a trouble shared is a trouble halved. You won't have to lie to them anymore and they will encourage you so you won't be so worried about the exams. When you have told your parents about your results you really should stop worrying so much. This is your main problem. The more you say to yourself you can't do it the less are youre chances of passing. Even geniuses can't get a good score if they worriy so much. If I were you I would go into the nature and relax for a while. Rest for some time and when you feel ready and calm you should start revising. Figure out what went wrong and learn as much as you can. lot of people, who would disagree with me, and a lot of them have great and logical explanations and theories, but in my opinion it just is not true. For example, every politican or person on a high paying job, who i have ever seen, has worked his way up the career ladder. Usualy they have studied very hard in school, to get to where they want to be. Most of them have gotten to where they want to be. Of course there are people who have gotten to important positions in life thanks to luck and many of them have had a lot of good ideas or have the imprtant knowledge, but majority of people are not that talentes so they have to work hard in life. I belive that if you set lifegoals to yourselt and imagine yourself completing those goals, you have the morale and motivation to actually complete those goal. You just have to think what you want, imagine that you have what you want, and there is a great chance that you will get what you want. Martin Ilsin 11A

Careful planning may be simply considered as preparation that can be understood that one identifies his aim, lists his steps, and does a research if necessary. Analyzing it in that way, we can know why it becomes the most important cause of success. An English saying goes: "Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunities". With such a careful plan, I am sure that we will have enough abilities to realize a lot of opportunities and seize them. Having prepared, one will be able to have a general look at the opportunity. He can evaluate the chance so as to know whether or not it is good for him. As a result, he can minimize the outcome, maximize the income and avoid the failure as well. Therefore, his way to success

Agatha Christie "Partners in crime"

I think I like it even more than the other stories by Agatha Christie I have read because the characters are very lively and humorous. The book consists of many mysteries. They all differ from each other a little bit and that is fun to read. There are not only murders but they also discovered a gang of counterfeiters, a gang of drug smugglers, a jewel robbery etc. They are all solved with cleverness and a bit of luck. It is called Partners in Crime because they always help each other. When one does not come with a solution then the other one does. All in all it is a great Agatha Christie novel. I would recommend it to everyone who likes good an thrilling detective stories.

linked with the ideals of independence and freedom. Jaanipäev marks a change in the farming year, specifically the break between the completion of spring sowing and the hard work of summer hay-making. Understandably, some of the rituals of Jaanipäev have very strong folkloric roots. The best-known Jaani, or midsummer, ritual is the lighting of the bonfire and the jumping over it. This is seen as a way of guaranteeing prosperity and avoiding bad luck. Likewise, to not light the fire is to invite the destruction of your house by fire. The fire also frightened away mischievous spirits who avoided it at all costs, thus ensuring a good harvest. So, the bigger the fire, the further the mischievous spirits stayed away. Midsummer's eve is important for lovers. And one will be left inside the circle without a partner. We played it in kindergarten. It was our tradition at every party. In my family we had a custom before the meal. We all held eachothers hands and we said: ''Õnnistatud söögiaega ja head isu!'' cartoons and toys to play with. When I started school, I was very interested in mathematics and other subjects that required logical thinking, because apparently I was smart in that area at the time. Up until 6th grade I was the best student in our class, winning mathematic competitions left and right and not only that. By that time I had also found out that I loved to write, specially poems and I used every opportunity to submit my works for competitions and I had the luck to win some of them. It felt good to be one of the best students in our class. As the school went on and I finally found myself in 9 th grade, just before the exams, and I realised that in the following years after my graduation from elementary school, my mathematic skills had gotten a bit rusty and I was mortified. Our teachers kept saying to us that math is really important in the future and that you have to have the knowledge in mathemathics to actually achieve something in your life

Christmas in different countrys(jõulud erinevates maades)

Whereas the northern hemisphere is in the middle of winter, Australians are baking in summer heat. It is not unusual to have Christmas Day well into the mid 30 degrees Celsius, or near 100 degrees Fahrenheit. A traditional meal includes a turkey dinner, with ham, and pork. A flaming Christmas plum pudding is added for dessert. In the Australian gold rushes, Christmas puddings often contained a gold nugget. Today a small favor is baked inside. Whoever finds this knows s/he will enjoy good luck. Another treat is Mince Pies. Some Australians and particularly tourists often have their Christmas dinner at midday on a local beach, Bondi Beach in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs attracts thousands of people on Christmas Day. Other families enjoy their day by having a picnic. If they are at home, the day is punctuated by swimming in a pool, playing Cricket out the backyard, and other outdoor activities. The warm weather allows Australians to enjoy a tradition which commenced in 1937. Carols

trip to Brussels, European Parliament and meeting with Siiri Oviir, who is working as a deputy in European Parliament. The theme of this essay was ,,How you live-Estonian child?" And on one autumn evening, after school i got a call where i was told that i had won 2-3 place and will be flying to Brussels in spring. From these moments on, i realised that you can only get somewhere if you do something yourself. I would not have had these opportunities if i would have just waited for good luck. It made me think, what i would like to do in the future and where to be. I already knew, that my dream was to study abroad, and after Brussels it came to me. I wanted to study something that influences many lives in a positive way. So to further my intrests, i started reading books written by successful people-Robert T.Kiyosaki, Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Branson, Robin Sharma. I believe that these people are

" Suzan nodded and together they moved quickly forwards. Soon they reached the main entrance. The door was open, but no one seemed to be around. "What now? Shall we enter or run away?" "They got our parents...and probably Danny too..." "But Su, they didn't get us, remember?" "Then we must do them as much harm as we can, they'll catch us sooner or later!" "Leave it to me then! I'm an expert in getting in trouble!" The red-haired girl smiled and wished her sister good luck. Then she hid under the bushes that were quite far away from the house. In the meanwhile Creasha had spotted dad's car. Evil smile on her face, she entered it. She was really surprised over finding a considerable amount of weapons there. Not even thinking she took them with her and stepped out. No one was still around. Then, a pack of matches fell from the weapon-suitcase. "Well, well, well what do we have here?" she asked herself and soon the car was exploding in the fire the girl had made

really does understand how things are. In all the chapters there is a hidden message and some of the ideas are really useful for real life usage. I guess the whole message of this book is that one should always pursue its hopes and dreams and never give up. Since actually one has nothing to lose, but tons to win. Life is like a rollercoaster, with its ups and downs, but if there were not any downfalls then people would not notice the luck and happiness in their lives. In conclusion I can honestly say that I liked this book a lot. I have also read the first part, which was as good as this one, but in the end I can say that they complement each other. I enjoyed reading it and there was not a time when I wished that it would be over already. I would recommend this novel to everybody who is interested in cultural communication and real life problems, which get clever solutions.

who purportedly arranges for a response. This turns out to be a set-up; while Swagger is working with Johnson's agents, including a local police officer, to find the rumored assassin, the Ethiopian archbishop is instead assassinated while standing next to the president. Swagger is shot by the officer, but manages to escape. The agents tell the police and public that Swagger is the shooter, and stage a massive manhunt for the injured sniper. However, Swagger has a stroke of luck--he meets a rookie FBI special agent, Nick Memphis (Michael Peña), disarms him and steals his car. Swagger uses the first aid supplies in the car to treat his wounds and escapes by driving into the Delaware River while being chased. He then takes refuge with Sarah Fenn (Kate Mara), widow of Swagger's late spotter and close friend Donnie Fenn, killed years before in a mission in Africa that Swagger himself barely survived.
