Batman

By having such a personal connection with the hero, she has become less like a super villainess and more reminiscent of an antiheroine. III Tools of Trade Batman is most often distinguished by the variety of equipment he has at his disposal. What he lacks in superpowers, he makes up with tools such as a grappling hook, explosives and smoke. The most memorable must be the batarang and the batmobile. Batarang is basically a throwing weapon that is shaped like a bat. Originally the batarang functioned much like a boomerang in that it returned to the thrower this is also the origin of the name, combination of boomerang and bat. Later, the batarang has become more like shuriken, an asian weapon that is also called the throwing star. Batarang has been a prominent weapon in nearly all major Batman television and movie adaptations.

Position Paper The Kingdom of Belgium

Position Paper for the First Committee of the General Assembly I. Addressing and Preventing the Growing Threat of Lethal Autonomous Weapons. The Kingdom of Belgium recognizes the serious threat of Lethal Autonomous Weapons. Permitting machines to take human life in warfare or in law enforcement and other circumstances raises a host of serious ethical, legal, moral, societal and other concerns. Autonomous weapon systems, as defined, are not specifically regulated by International Humanitarian Law treaties either. However, it is undisputed that any autonomous weapon system must be capable of being used, and must be used, in accordance with IHL. These weapons don't yet exist but are under development in several countries. Once they are created, it may be too late to stop their use. Last December the government of Belgium funded a research conducted by 116 Professors and

Speech: Ideas are our greatest weapons

Speech: Ideas are our greatest weapons Hello class and classmates, I would like to open up my speech with a quote that I find really amazing: „The pen is mightier than the sword”. Sadly I don't know whose it is, but it means, that not every war has to be fought with swords and weapons, coming up with an idea about something that isn't violent might be a lot easier way to conquer in life. I think that all of you know that every tool, weapon, Everything that surrounds us, has started with an idea. That shouldn't be new for you. Some people might find it hard to believe, but even the most common things- like chairs, walls, even a pack of bread has been an idea once. Someone had probably felt that his or her legs got tired and sitting on floor might not be so comfortable, so one chose to invent a chair. Think of it- even floor, where people used to sit before chairs were invented is certainly someone's idea and invention

Imagination will make us infinite

Everything that we see, everything that we touch, all came from someones thought. Their imagination running wild. Albert Einstein said that “Imagination is more important than knowledge, because with knowledge we are limited to everything we know and understand, while with imagination , it makes us infinite. With your imagination, it can take you to places that you never dreamed about. If you’re having a bad day, it could truly be your only weapon against reality. It can take you back on a vacation or it can fast-forward to an event that hasn’t even taken place yet. With imagination, it gives us the ultimate freedom, the power to choose, the power to change and the power to advance. Just imagine for a second that you had a superpower of your choosing. You could have super strenght, immortality, invisibility, you name it. The only limiting factor is yourself. I know everybody has thought about this at one point in his life

Natural disasters

Natural Disasters: Does Mankind Even Stand a Chance? Throughout time, man has fought valiantly against the forces of nature. We have successfully climbed the tallest mountains, sailed the greatest seas, and defeated the mighty dinosaurs. But we are no match for nature's greatest weapon: Natural Disasters. As far as natural disasters go, the deadly trinity of mudslides, whirlpools, and meteors is man's greatest nemesis. Mudslides strike without warning and with deadly force. Every day, across the world, unsuspecting villagers are hammered by the force of 36,000 tons of that soft wet dirt known as mud, as it cascades down mountains, rolls across plains, swoops through valleys, and takes flight over cliffs

Essay on Iron Man

This essay discusses what makes Iron Man special and memorable. Besides literally being strong, which a superhero obviously needs to be, Iron Man aka Tony Stark was also highly intelligent. That's what actually helped him in most situations rather than mindlessly beating the opponent. Tony Stark had graduated with advanced degrees in physics and engineering at the age of 17 from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. When imprisoned and forced to create a weapon of mass destuction in the movie Iron Man, Stark was able to build an armor suit and a reactor to escape. His extensive knowledge about quantum mechanics and artificial intelligence helped him to produce a new element his father had discovered which saved his life in Iron Man 2, replacing venomous palladium in his chest. Iron Man's main strength was Tony Stark's intelligence. A plausible character needs to have weaknesses alongside his strengths. Tony Stark was an

Likewise, the three Baltic countries are situated in the area which has been frequented by hostile conquerors in several hundreds of years. During the past centuries the indigenous nations of the Baltic States have developed deep distrust against their neighbours no matter how well-intentioned they try to appear. As we know, quite a few empires have used Messianism as a weapon to serve their own interests. As a rule, the powerful states make an effort to convince the conquered states of the fact that they actually provide support to the little ones who would not be able to survive without them. In case one of these small countries succeeds in gaining independence, the fear of possible occupation in future still remains. A lamb to the slaughter

A little later, perhaps, when she felt better, she would move. So they left her there while they went about their business, searching the house. Occasionally on of the detectives asked her another question. Sometimes Jack Noonan spoke at her gently as he passed by. Her husband, he told her, had been killed by a blow on the back of the head administered with a heavy blunt instrument, almost certainly a large piece of metal. They were looking for the weapon. The murderer may have taken it with him, but on the other hand he may have thrown it away or hidden it somewhere on the premises. "It's the old story," he said. "Get the weapon, and you've got the man." Later, one of the detectives came up and sat beside her. Did she know, he asked, of anything in the house that could've been used as the weapon? Would she mind having a look around to see if anything was missing - a very big spanner, for example, or a heavy metal vase.

If you have created something, then try to be open minded

They were there to fight for freedom. Because they had created them country and they wanted to keep it and then they united to be much stronger together. That way was harder to destroy these countries and that was also people goal. In last subject I talked about wars and saving and also protecting a state what people had built. This all is in connection with studying an evil. Many years ago for example in 17 century were very funny laws. About five year old boy had to carry knights weapon send him all the way to battle and had to be in battle itself. To me it is too unreasonable that so young boy has to see this awful killing and fighting and also learn this kind of thing. I really can not understand what these people were thinking. Many boys get even killed in battle and it is sad for me because they were too young for dieing. Those people had to be evil when they thought these little boys to kill and commanded them to go to the battle. Someway killing for me is Evil

Sisters Creasha was sitting alone in her room. It was silence outside, yet she felt that something was wrong it was too quiet. Her older brother, Denis, had always said that too much silence was dangerous even for the hunter. That is what Denis was a bounty hunter. Creasha looked at the paleness of her sleeping twin sister Suzan and thought that it'll be six months soon as mom and dad left the country and their children to the Fate. Well, the reality wasn't so dramatic, since they were politics whom had to travel a lot. Creasha and Suzan weren't small any longer, 16 is almost as good as grown-up! But Denis never thought so; he still cared about his little sisters, as they were babies in his mind. A sudden voice broke the silence Creasha had almost fallen asleep in. IS MEDIA DECEIVING AND PACIFYING THE POPULATION?

People bought the papers to stay up to date or read something interesting about a distant occurrence. However the businesses soon changed into not only covering the recent news, but also politics and viewpoints of different people. The newspaper publishers had changed from selling news to being dealers of public opinion. (Habermas, 1991). The readers had no doubt to question the content of newspapers and it quickly became obvious that they were a powerful weapon to shape a public opinion, even when the content was not true. One of the most famous cases of exploiting the media and called to be one the biggest lies in history was during the World War II, when Adolf Hitler controlled all the press and launched massive campaigns to promote anger against the Jews. His theory was that if you tell a lie that`s big enough and repeat it, people will eventually believe it. (McGrath, 2013).

National Symbols of New Zealand

National Symbols of New Zealand New Zealand flag History The idea of the flag of New Zealand was first introduced in 1830, because of trading troubles. At that time, a trading ship built inNZ, Sir George Murray was seized in Sydney by Customs officials for sailing without a flag or register. Australia, which was the most important trading partner for NZ had British navigation laws which ruled that every ship must carry an official certificate detailing construction, ownership and nationality of the ship. The problem was that during that period of time, NZ was not yet a colony ofGreat Britan, thats why the NZ-built ships could not sail under a British flag or register. Without a flag to represent the new nation, trading ships and their valuable cargoes would continue to be seized (held by the Australian customs (toll) The Australians called for signing a legislation to remove any obstacles to New Zealand's incre...

stability from within (some of which he helps to create through his own carelessness). Claudius Hamlet's major antagonist is a shrewd, lustful, conniving king who contrasts sharply with the other male characters in the play. Whereas most of the other important men in Hamlet are preoccupied with ideas of justice, revenge, and moral balance, Claudius is bent upon maintaining his own power. The old King Hamlet was apparently a stern warrior, but Claudius is a corrupt politician whose main weapon is his ability to manipulate others through his skillful use of language. Claudius's speech is compared to poison being poured in the ear--the method he used to murder Hamlet's father. Claudius's love for Gertrude may be sincere, but it also seems likely that he married her as a strategic move, to help him win the throne away from Hamlet after the death of the king. As the play progresses, Claudius's mounting fear of Hamlet's insanity leads him to ever greater self-

The Constitution establishes the legislative, executive, and judicial branches of government. The candidate promised to lower taxes, protect the environment, reduce crime, and end unemployment. The prosecutor argued that the defendant, who was at the scene of the crime, who had a strong revenge motive, and who had access to the murder weapon, was guilty of homicide. 6. Use commas to separate two or more coordinate adjectives that describe the same noun. Be sure never to add an extra comma between the final adjective and the noun itself or to use commas with non-coordinate adjectives. Coordinate adjectives are adjectives with equal ("co"-ordinate) status in describing the noun; neither adjective is subordinate to the other. You can decide if two adjectives in a row are coordinate by asking the following questions:

companies if the Ba'ath again took over power. In 1968, General Ahmed Hassan al-Bakr of the Ba'ath Party was installed as the new president. The US broke relations with Iraq in 1967. After al- Bakr seized power, relations remained severed for 16 years and the US made arms sales to Iraq illegal. In June 1972 all foreign businesses including the Iraq Petroleum Company were seized and Iraq declared that oil would be used as "a political weapon in the struggle against imperialism". Saddam Hussein assumed power in a counter-coup in 1979. 1980s The Iran-Iraq war (1980-1988) was one of a series of crises during an era of upheaval in the Middle East. In mid-September 1980 Iraq attacked Iran, in the mistaken belief that Iranian political disarray would guarantee a quick victory. The U.S., having decided that an Iranian victory would not serve its interests, began supporting Iraq. In 1984 the U

element as the original atom. Nuclear fission produces energy for nuclear power and to drive the explosion of nuclear weapons. Both uses are made possible because certain substances called nuclear fuels undergo fission when struck by free neutrons and in turn generate neutrons when they break apart. This makes possible a self-sustaining chain reaction that releases energy at a controlled rate in a nuclear reactor or at a very rapid uncontrolled rate in a nuclear weapon. The amount of free energy contained in nuclear fuel is millions of times the amount of free energy contained in a similar mass of chemical fuel such as gasoline, making nuclear fission a very tempting source of energy; however, the products of nuclear fission are radioactive and remain so for significant amounts of time, giving rise to a nuclear waste problem. Concerns over nuclear waste accumulation and over the destructive potential of nuclear weapons may counterbalance the

The capital of Canada is Ottawa. Other large cities are Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver, Winnipeg and Quebec. 2. Geographical position Canada is a huge country in the continent of North America. The Medium Is the Message

strength of the techniques of communication and the capacity of the individual's own reaction. Failure in this respect has for centuries been typical and total for mankind. Subliminal and docile acceptance of media impact has made them prisons without walls for their human users. As A. J. Liebling remarked in his book The Press, a man is not free if he cannot see where he is going, even if he has a gun to help him get there. For each of the media is also a powerful weapon with which to clobber other media and other groups. The result is that the present age has been one of multiple civil wars that are not limited to the world of art and entertainment. In War and Human Progress, Professor J. U. Nef declared: "The total wars of our time have been the result of a series of intellectual mistakes . . ." If the formative power in the media are the media themselves, that raises a host of large matters that can only be mentioned here, although they deserve volumes

develop from psychological principles or stereotypes we have learned to accept. Al- though they vary in their force, some of these principles possess a tremendous abil- ity to direct human action. We have been subjected to them from such an early point in our lives, and they have moved us about so pervasively since then, that you and I rarely perceive their power. In the eyes of others, though, each such principle is a detectable and ready weapon, a weapon of automatic influence. There are some people who know very well where the weapons of automatic influence lie and who employ them regularly and expertly to get what they want. They go from social encounter to social encounter, requesting others to comply with their wishes; their frequency of success is dazzling. The secret of their effec- tiveness lies in the way that they structure their requests, the way that they arm

THE CAPITALIST NIGER

It has been said that what you wish is what you 5 get. You have to demand what is due you. You cannot let somebody’s hatred or dislike deter you from dream. Their dream is not your dream. In fact, their years of persecuting Blacks have made them guilty. A capitalist Nigger must exploit their guilt to ensure that they assist in reaching his goals. You must become an economic warrior, not with the conventional weapon of guns, knives, or even hatred in your heart, but with a brain and a desire to learn all that you can learn from those who have used every weapon to achieve their own success. If we have to steal their ideas, we must do it in the same way they have done it for hundreds of years. Everything that a Blackman has tried to do, the Caucasians have copied and appropriated as their own. We must mimic their every move and pay them

E.M.Remarque "Läänerindel Muutuseta"

All Quiet on the Western Front Erich Maria Remarque Character List Paul Bäumer - A young German soldier fighting in the trenches during World War I. Paul is the protagonist and narrator of the novel. He is, at heart, a kind, compas-sionate, and sensitive young man, but the brutal expe-rience of warfare teaches him to detach himself from his feelings. His account of the war is a bitter invective against sentimental, romantic ideals of warfare. Read an in-depth analysis of Paul Bäumer. Stanislaus Katczinsky - A soldier belonging to Paul's company and Paul's best friend in the army. Kat, as he is known, is forty years old at the beginning of the novel and has a family at home. He is a resourceful, inventive man and always finds food, clothing, and blankets whenever he and his friends need them. Albert Kropp - One of Paul's classmates who serves with Paul in the Second Company. An intelligent, speculative young man, Kropp is one of Paul...
