We all have felt good about donating something.

Mait Rõõmus Mr. Savala English 4 26 September 2013 Prompt #5 We all have felt good about donating something. It gives us inner peace, satisfaction, and an overall benevolent feeling. Donating money, clothes or "yourself" by volunteering does not require us to do the impossible we do that which is quite possible. A few weeks ago, I went through my friend's wallet and found an organ donor card. It really made me think. Would I be willing to donate an organ to help someone or to receive an organ from someone I do not know if I needed it

Letter

Dear Cathrine ! Thank you for your last letter, it was really nice to read about your trip to Italy. For me things are not so good. I have been ill for two weeks already and I decided to tell you about the problem. Maybe you can help me. About two weeks ago when I was at my friends birthday party I suddenly felt really bad. My stomach began to ache and i felt really dizzy also. So i decided to sit down and rest a bit. But that didn´t help. i felt even worse. So i went home. At home I measured my temperature and it was really high, so my mom sent me straight to bed. At first we thought that it was not anything serious, but when two days had gone by and the temperature had not gone down, my mom began to worry about me. So we drove to the hospital, as the doctor was not able to come to our home. In the hospital , doctor examined me and he told us that i had a really bad flu. And that i should not get out of the bed for two weeks at least

The giver 1-6 chapter

Jonas has one younger sister, Lily. His family seems ideal. Each morning, they discuss their dreams that they had the previous night; during the evening meal, they share feelings about the events of the day, comforting and supporting each other according to the rules of the community. 2. What is the family's nightly ritual? It is a required ritual in which all family members have to tell how they were feeling that day. 3. Why had Lily been angry? Lily goes first by explaining the anger that she felt today when someone from a visiting group of Sevens, or seven-year-olds, did not obey the rules about waiting in line. She compares the boy to an animal, but she is not exactly sure what an animal is, and she recalls that she made a fist at him. 4. How do the parents explain the new boy's behavior? Lily's parents remind her of a past experience when she was a Six and had felt out of place while visiting a different community of Sixes, and Lily decides that she now feels sorry for

Apologies

Apologies · We have probably all been in a situation when we know have behaved badly towards someone, but pride has made us slow to apologise. As the British pop singer Elton John put it on one of his songs, it is often the case that ,,sorry seems to be the hardest word." Of course when we do manage to make a sincere apology-it can quickly reduce the hurt or resestment felt by the person we have behaved badly towards. In the words of the Canadian cartoonist Lynn Johnston "An apology is the superglue of life-it can repair just about anything". However a recent survey suggests that in Britain the word ,,sorry" is being used in various situations where it doesn't have the traditional purpose of expressing regret for something a person has said or done. Arguably, the word is now being overused and might even be in danger of losing its meaning.

Seven pounds

really touches me. I also enjoy his performance in the movies ,,The pursuit of happiness" and ,,I am legend". The film ,,Seven pounds" shows, that there are not only bad and cold, but also kindhearted and caring people around us. Even though I don't think it's right that he committes a suicide, I think what he did was really moving. I love the film, because I got so many emotions while whatching it and I love whatching movies that affect me somehow. After I had seen the film, I felt like I want to do something nice for someone who really deserves it. I felt like I need to make someone happy. I think everyone who enjoy touching, but at the same time sad movies, should watch ,,Seven pounds". Will Smith is a great actor and he makes the movie realistic. I don't recommend the movie to people, who enjoy funny and childish movies.

A short story

I had prepared myself for a job interview for a long time because I wanted that job so much. One day before the interview I set the alarm clock at 7.00am, so that I would have enough time to get ready. The interview started at 9.00am. I woke up in the morning because I heard a door bell and wondered who could come so early. I saw my neighbour standing at the door holding a newspaper. ,,You always come at 8 o'clock. What are you doing here so early?" I asked. She raised her eyebrows, felt really confused and said she had come as usual. I glanced at my watch and understood that my alarm clock hadn't rang. My job interview would start in one hour and I had to hurry on a bus. Half an hour later I was in the bus station and felt relieved because I had still 5 minutes until my bus came. So I waited and looked at the timetable and saw that the bus drove every working day except that day. ,,Oh, great," I said ironically. I wanted to call a taxi, but found

I will never forget the day

Also, we end up in situations where we feel rage, anger, sadness and other feelings. Yet we remember the moments that are filled with gladfulness, warmth, tenderness and other nice feelings. This year, i met with a person, who still comes to mind time and again. There was this girl, very short and cute. It seemed like she didn't care about anything, but yet she was still a person, a person with her own interests. I can remember a moment, when i felt happy. We sat in her room and had a conversation about all kinds of things. Suddenly, i noticed, that my i had put my hand around her, not very hard, but gently and quietly. At that moment, we sat there quietly, and didn't say anything to eachother. Just when i had thought, that now i am happy, someone opened the door, it was her mother, who just stepped in for a second, i startled and took my hand away from around her, since then, i haven't felt anything as incredible as that

FRONT/BACK VOWELS Vowels may be classified as either rounded or unrounded, as either lax or tense, and as either long or short. A vibration is felt in the oral cavity when a vowel is articulated. If this vibration is felt toward the front of the cavity, say in the area of the alveolar ridge, the vowel is described as a front vowel. If the vibration is felt toward the back of the cavity, say in the area of the velum, the vowel is described as a back vowel. This distinction can be appreciated by successively articulating "ho-ho, hee-hee, ho-ho, hee-hee," and paying attention to where the vibration is felt most strongly in the oral cavity

Time travel

crowd. I quickly got friends with some of the local street musicians. One of them was Denzel and he told me a story about how Marvin Gaye has inspired him and his music. When I told them that I'm a fan of his music too and I'm planning to go to his concert that night, they couldn't believe me and the fact that a white man listens to black music. Clearly they were little quixotic, but still we crossed our paths and went to the concert together. The show was amazing, I've never felt better! After it was all over, me and my new friends from the 70's went back to Central Park to lay back and feel the pleasant nightlife. I still felt little dizzy from my travel from the future which I kept in secret for the people in the past, and before I could realise I fell asleep. When I woke up again I was back in my laboratory. I don't know if it was real or if it was just a dream, but it was the best trip of my life!

English story "Fatal Walk"

Fatal walk It was a warm and cloudless Friday evening in summer but Angelina didn't want to go to a party. She went for a walk at a park. She had a great evening and she enjoyed all this incredible nature in the park. Angelina was glad that she hadn't gone to party because she felt herself so relaxed. There were a few people in the park, birds were singing and not so warm evening sun was still shining. I felt a little bit chilly myself and it was getting darker too so I decided to go back home. My way back wasn't very pleasurable. I had always been afraid of those dark unlit side- streets but that walk had been good for me so I wasn't afraid that time. But then I heard screaming from one street. I didn't dare to go there but I peeked around the corner and I saw two men fighting with each other. One man had a gun and he was wearing a black mask. The other man was a typical businessman

We had a panic, but we decided to go up to the second floor .Going up the stairs I step on something,I raised it up, it was our mother's bloody finger. When I reached up,I noticed that my sister was missing. I was alone and I didn't know what to do. I went back to find my family. There was no one, until suddenly I felt something moving behind me. At the next moment I felt breath on my neck. He said that I should not worry about your sister because I killed her and your parents, and now it's you turn. Letter travelling description

During the winter break, I had a chance to visit Kolkata along with my uncle. I hope, my description of the visit of that great city will be a source of pleasure for you. It was my first visit to Kolkata. We stayed there with a friend of my father. He was a kind host. He took me round some important places of the city. Kolkata is a very big place. The streets of Kolkata are full, of the crowds of people. There is such great rush-of traffic that at first I felt quite confused. Kolkata is a city of fine streets. I liked the Chawranghee most of all. On one side it is lined by tall buildings and on the other by the maidan. The maidan is a great open park where large numbers of people assemble to spend their sweet evenings. In Kolkata there are many places worth-seeing. I saw the Government House, Fort William, the Museum, the Botanical Garden, the Zoo at Alipore, and the Birla Planetarium I had a very pleasant time in Kolkata

Review "THE CATCHER IN THE RYE"

already read "The catcher in the rye". Many people have mentioned this story in some conversations and lots of quotes in Internet contain "J.D.Salinder" in the end of it, therefore I was really excited when we decided to read this book as a part of our English lesson course. It was very good way for English skills practice and also self- liberalizing. I think many teenagers would be able to relate the book to the actual themes - it's a modern classic of today. Every teeneager has had once felt himself sort of depressed and upset. It is absolutely normal state for identity formation. We mature, we become adults, we revise our values and are feeling really unusual sometimes. Lots of times I have caught myself thinking that I'd already felt something like this before... Lots of moments in this book were really similar to some periods of my life and many relatives seemed very similar to characters of this book.

Courage in the Storm

But to my surprise, I was the first one there. Where were mum and dad? Where was my younger sister? I tried to remember where I saw them last. I couldn't think straight, I was overwhelmed with worry. I heard someone banging on the hatch. I opened it with lightning speed and I saw my sister standing there. "Why are you standing there? Come in, quickly!" I demanded. "Where were you? Where are mum and dad?" I asked anxiously. "I was in the toilet and suddenly I felt the house shaking. I called for mummy but nobody was there. I got scared so I crabbed my Teddy and run here, like I am taught to do." "You did good, you were very brave!" I praised her and gave her a comforting hug. I had to find out where my parents were. I taught my sister how to open and close the shelters' hatch and ordered her to stay there and wait for my return. Again, I swallowed the fear and run. I was headed back to the house, when I heard our dog Bingo howling in his kennel

Continuing Katherine Mansfield's short story "Mrs. Brill"

Snowflakes are falling slowly from the sky and the whole atmosphere is kind of magical. “I missed you today so much. How can it be that someone is so dear to you? That you love someone with every cell in your body?” says the man seriously without taking his eyes off from the woman. “I..” murmured “I don’t know..” answers the woman. Her feelings for her husband had not been reduced a single bit in these eight years. She still felt like she had just become Mrs. Brill.” Miss Brill sighed on her blue chair. She wondered “Why?” Why did the world take Ann from her. She was so fragile, sweet and delicate. Miss Brill wished in her heart that she would have been the one whose life tuberculosis would have taken. Then her Ann could have had her life and she could have fulfilled her dreams. She opened her eyes and put the box with the photos away. She stood up and moved outside to the garden

Book report/review "The Snow Child"

I turned out that the snow girl had turned into a real girl. In the beginning, the girl was very shy and hid herself in the deep forest, but later on she became braver and even talked to the couple. In the end of the book she gives Mable and Jack their first grandchild. I believe that this happened so that the couple would feel a little bit happy and blessed, even though the girl Fauna never really was their biological child. The main characters, Jack and Mable, are very humble and loving. I felt like Mable was a bit more emotional and complicated than Jack. She was very naive in a way. Jack, on the other hand, was a very masculine type. He was a hunter and had a very strong character. He was responsible for the survival. They both completed each other. In my opinion the book was very enchanting and beautiful. The way the author describes Alaska, is very magical, because she has lived there her whole life. When I

Letter about my recent health problem

Dear Jane, How are you? I haven't heard from you in a while. I am writing to tell you about my recent health problem I had food poisoning. I got it when I visited Mexico. I ate something that probably caused it. I am not really sure what it was. I had to drink plenty of fluids and rest a lot. I was down with that poisioning for two days. On the third day I could finally turn back to my normal life and start eating again. That poisoning was very terrible. I felt extremely bad and mostly I was sad about ruining my vacation. For at least two days I couldn't enjoy Mexico. That is all for now. Let me know if your health is okay. I hope I'll hear from you soon. Love, Mari

Seventeenth summer

(A seventeenth year old girl named Angie who falls for the popular boy Jack.) I think this book was really good. But it is a little bit slow book, it does not really have any action in it and it just more of a leisurely book to read. I liked the romance and the character development, I liked the simplistic nature of their love. It made me yearn for respect and honor, modesty and decency. I admire that slow courtship. The book itself I think was not fantastic, but overall, I felt good reading this book because it still had the romantic aspect but with a new approach to it.

Why I came to study English essay

When I started school, I was very interested in mathematics and other subjects that required logical thinking, because apparently I was smart in that area at the time. Up until 6th grade I was the best student in our class, winning mathematic competitions left and right and not only that. By that time I had also found out that I loved to write, specially poems and I used every opportunity to submit my works for competitions and I had the luck to win some of them. It felt good to be one of the best students in our class. As the school went on and I finally found myself in 9 th grade, just before the exams, and I realised that in the following years after my graduation from elementary school, my mathematic skills had gotten a bit rusty and I was mortified. Our teachers kept saying to us that math is really important in the future and that you have to have the knowledge in mathemathics to actually achieve something in your life

Inglise keele eksamiks erinevad kirjanäited

I believe your advertisement was misleading in a number of ways. Firstly, the apartment was by no means spacious. The rooms were cramped and there was very little storage space. Also, the distance from the beach was ten times farther than you claimed. Furthermore, the balcony railing was broken. This was quite dangerous and could have caused an accident. In addition, it overlooked an unattractive car park in contrast to the ,,great view" you advertised. Consequently, I felt I could not stay any longer and returned home after 3 days. As you can imagine, I am quite disappointed. I feel I am entitled to a partial refund in addition to an apology for the inconvenience caused. I look forward to receiving a prompt reply. Yours faithfull allkiri Liis Ostnik permission Dear Mr Cox, I'm writing on behalf of the students to ask permission to hold a party at the college at the end of term.
