Total station problems

Laura Lüll KRG11/21 Total station: Problems 1. Distinguish between transits and theodolites. - Transits and theodolites are instruments for measuring horizontal and vertical angles. The distinction between these instruments is not very clear. At first, both of instruments were called theodolites. The instruments that were manufactured with long telescopes and could not be inverted end for end were called theodolites. As technology developed, people started making instruments with shorter telescopes that could be inverted or transited – these machines were called transits. Time

HCl lahus

Equipment Conical flasks (250 cm3), 2 burettes (25 cm3), pipette (10 cm3). Procedure A. Determining the concentration of a hydrochloric acid solution through titration 1. To determine the concentration of the acid solution take the NaOH solution with a known concentration (the standard solution) and pour it into the burette (α in figure 2.2). See that there are no air bubbles near the tip. Fill the burette until the 0-point of the scale. When measuring the level of the solution keep your eyes at the same level with the liquid level. The lower edge of the liquid level has to be at the 0 calibration mark (see figure 2.1). Work solutions are the solutions which are going to be used for pipetting or Figure 2.1 added from the burette. This step is necessary to ensure that the measuring of concentration is not changed by water or solvent of another

Transport of impurities such as dust, rust, water, combustion products etc, away from the engine to filters and separators. The lubricating oil system for a diesel engine is shown schematically in the figure. Used oil drains to the bottom of the crankcase and passes through strainers by gravity to the drain tank. A pump (5) sucks oil from a lubricating oil drain tank (3), which in large engines is most often a bottom tank below the main engine. It is fitted with an air vent, level measuring gauge and sounding pipe. To reduce the possibility of contamination of the lubricating oil in the bottom tank as a result of leaks, all the remaining bottom tanks containing, for example, fresh water, seawater or fuel oil, can be separated from the lubricating oil bottom tank by coffer-dams (2). To safeguard the pump, a course filter (4) is inserted between the pump and the bottom tank. The pump forces the oil a through lubricating oil cooler

Eclipse, Chapter Eighteen – Instruction kokkuvõte

again the following night. Before the wolves leave, they request to familiarize themselves with the particular scents of the Cullens, so that during battle there are no mistakes. Each wolf, in turn, approaches the individual members of the Cullen family, smelling and sniffing them all. Bella recognizes Jacob as the reddish-brown wolf. She realizes he seems the most relaxed of the pack. Jacob meets her gaze and comes closer. Bella notices that Edward is measuring her reactions, clearly hoping to find her afraid or disgusted by what she sees. But instead of being afraid, Bella reaches out and runs her fingers through Jacob's fur. She is surprised by how it is both rough and soft. Suddenly Jacob licks her across her entire face, laughing and jumping out of the way when she yells and smacks at him playfully in response. Both vampires and werewolves, and especially Edward, are all shocked and bewildered by the encounter.

Panama Canal Date started:January 1, 1880 Date finished:January 7, 1914 Location:Isthmus of Panama The Panama Canal is a 77 km ship canal in Panama that joins the Atlantic Ocean and the Pacific Ocean and is a key conduit for international maritime trade. Built from 1904 to 1914, annual traffic has risen from about 1,000 ships in the canal's early days to 14,702 vessels in 2008, measuring a total 309.6 million Panama Canal/Universal Measurement System (PC/UMS) tons. In total over 815,000 vessels have passed through the canal. One of the largest and most difficult engineering projects ever undertaken, the canal had an enormous impact on shipping between the two oceans, replacing the long and treacherous route via either the Strait of Magellan or Cape Horn at the southernmost tip of South America. Acid rain

Miina Härma Gymnasium Acid Rain Report Compiler: Teisi Timma 8a Teacher: Esther Linask Tartu 2009 Acid Rain Acid rain is rain consisting of water droplets that are unusually acidic because of atmospheric pollution - most notably the excessive amounts of sulfur and nitrogen released by cars and industrial processes. Acid rain is also called acid deposition because this term includes other forms of acidic precipitation such as snow. Acidic deposition occurs in two ways: wet and dry. Wet deposition is any form of precipitation that removes acids from the atmosphere and deposits them on the Earth's surface. Dry deposition polluting particles and gases stick to the ground via dust and smoke in the absence of precipitation. This form of deposition is dangerous however because precipitation can eventually wash pollutants into strea...

Optiliste sensorite kasutamine veearvestite taatlusprotsessis

While writing this thesis the author studied the working principle of optical sensors, analysed different solutions, disregarding all that did not suit the needs of this work and concentrated on thouse that showed the most potential. Also the calibration method of water meters was carefully examined, which stated the requirements that the optical sensors should fullfill while working. The practical part of the work was made simpler by authors two years of experience with water meters and measuring equipment used for the process. The results in table 8.1 show that the measuring deviation during the process stays well within the deviation calculated by the calibration of Metrosert AS water meter measuring equipment. Using one optical sensor with the process decreases the time consumption by 6.25 %. Equipping the measuring device with 6 optical sensors decreases the time consumption of measurements by 61.73 %.

Gross domestic product

The difference is that GDP defines its scope according to location, while GNP defines its scope according to ownership. In a global context, world GDP and world GNP are therefore equivalent terms. · GDP is product produced within a country's borders; · GNP is product produced by enterprises owned by a country's citizens. International Standards The international standard for measuring GDP is contained in the book System of National Accounts (1993), which was prepared by representatives of the International Monetary Fund, European Union, Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development, United Nations and World Bank. Nominal GDP and Real GDP The GDP calculation is distorted by inflation. This unadjusted GDP is known as the nominal GDP. In practice, GDP is adjusted by dividing the nominal GDP by a price deflator to arrive at the real GDP.

Saturn

clouds that are seen when looking at Saturn are just the top layer of a very deep layer that covers a center of liquid hydrogen. The clouds are blown by constant winds that reach speeds up to one thousand miles per hour at the equator of the planet ("Great Space Place"). The rings of Saturn are more spectacular than those of any other planet. Although this planet's rings are very wide, extending from the top of its atmosphere to well beyond the orbits of its closest moons, they are very thin, measuring no more than a few kilometers (about a mile) in thickness ("Great Space Place"). The Pioneer 11 flyby made several discoveries about the rings. The rings are made of particles that are dust-sized up to large mountain-sized masses, with the average size being in the marble to basketball range - about 10 centimeters (four inches). These particles are extremely cold and are possibly composed of frozen water and other ices. An extensive cloud of hydrogen was also discovered around the rings

What is integrated care?

of integrated care. For instance, the association between the features of integrated systems and high-performance systems may not imply causation. Evaluators therefore need to ensure clarity about whether they are comparing integrated against fragmented care; more against less integrated care; or a newly integrated model against a previous less integrated model. 18 What is integrated care? Measuring the extent of integrated care A key challenge for policy-makers and planners pursuing evaluation is to develop more suitable approaches to measuring and assessing integrated care. Such work requires sound theoretical underpinnings in order to guide evaluation and measurement, and the use of both quantitative and qualitative methods. Such an approach might help measure integration, for instance, not only in relation to the impact on health

Kosmilised kiired

This can tell us a lot about the GCR sources and the cosmic rays' trip through the Galaxy. The "composition" of cosmic rays describes what fraction of cosmic rays are protons, what fraction are helium nuclei, etc. All of the natural elementsin the periodic table are present in cosmic rays, in roughly the same proportion as they occur in the solar system. But detailed differences provide a "fingerprint" of the cosmic ray's source. Measuring the quantity of each different element is relatively easy, since the different charges of each nucleus give very different signatures. Harder to measure, but a better fingerprint, is the isotopic composition (nuclei of the same element but with different numbers of neutrons). To tell the isotopes apart involves, in effect, weighing each atomic nucleus that enters the cosmic ray detector. About 90% of the cosmic ray nuclei are hydrogen (protons), about 9% are helium (alpha particles),

· Processing time is the time required by the other company to manufacture the product. · Post processing time is the time required to do the quarantine and inspection process, after manufacturing. After the lead time, the product will be available in the inventory after receiving the item from the manufacture or retailer. Lead time can be reduced by measuring and eliminating the errors made during the lead time process. Lead time can also be reduced by using Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) strategy. "JustinTime" (JIT) is a popular strategy used by manufacturing and production companies to improve efficiency in their business. Thus, for stable supply chain and development in the business growth, it is important to understand the causes and effects of bullwhip effect. Implement the business strategies

Emotion regulation in relation.. 7 Nonetheless the research interest in processes involved in ER has grown rapidly. Increasingly attention has been directed to unintentional regulation of emotions and the ways of measuring the biological responses in ER (Wirtz et al., 2006, Rimmele et al, 2007). Previous research interest in ER was largely focused on intentional- responsive regulation, (Muraven et al 1998; Gross & Levenson 1997; Wegner, Erber & Zanakos 1993) where only intentional responses where recorded, and the data was based mainly on self-reports. Consequently LeDoux (2000) pointed out the need to discover new approaches in emotional research. Furthermore, while some field

Public Administration and Innovation

Future research will focus on improving the indicators used to map interactions in national innovation systems as well as the linkages to the innovative performance of firms and countries. These indicators are at an early stage of development and do not approach the robustness of more conventional measures such as R&D expenditures. A main goal is to improve the comparability of studies across countries by encouraging those engaging in analysis of innovation systems to focus first on measuring a core set of knowledge flows using similar indicators. At the same time, specific analyses will be directed to deepening the understanding of certain types of flows in national innovation, namely: human resource flows;2) institutional linkages; 3) industrial clusters; and 4) innovative firm behaviour. Pay-for performance: necessary or unsuitable way to increase efficiency in the public sector

They have to be willing to change and motivate workers to do the same. They have to take into account that pay-for performance will bring extra responsibilities- paperwork, resolution of conflicts and so on. They have to be able to actually make a distinguish between those who perform better than others, and they have to be able to behave accordingly. It means that civil service needs very competent managers. The problem in pay-for performance is largely in lack of measuring and documenting performance so it would be accurate and complete. Since there are no agreement on standards, indicators, measurement of performance to assess civil servants, the process is very messy and understandable. Consternating on private sector has made it even more vague and difficult to follow- it just does not work the same in public sector. Another problem with pay-for performance lies in fairness of the process. For a employee

SUSTAINABILITY REPORTING GUIDELINES

1) External Environment - Analysis of the external environment focuses on issues such as product, labour, and capital markets and regulatory structures. These issues, in turn, relate in part to the risks and opportunities associated with management of the economic, environmental, and social aspects of the business. Overlaps and synergies exist between the conventional indicators used for analysis of the external environment and those used for measuring economic, environmental, and social performance. For example, social indicators related to the composition and status of the workforce may be used to highlight opportunities for expanding the firm’s intellectual capital. 2) Competitive advantage– is built through cost leadership and product/service differentiation and, increasingly, through the formation and retention of intellectual capital

Mille poolest erinevad nefelomeetria ja turbidimeetria meetodid? A nephelometer [1] is a stationary or portable instrument for measuring concentration of suspended particulates in a liquid or gas colloid. A nephelometer measures suspended particulates by employing a light beam (source beam) and a light detector set to one side (often 90°) of the source beam. Particle density is then a function of the light reflected into the detector from the particles. To some extent, how much light reflects for a given density of

Vormistamine ülesanne 3

For each research question one or more survey questions are then formulated, depending on the goal of the study. For example, in a general study of the population one or two general questions about well-being are enough to give a global indication of well-being. On the other hand, in a specific study of the influence of social networks on feelings of well-being among the elderly a far more detailed picture of wellbeing is needed and a series of questions has to be asked, each question measuring a specific aspect of well-being. These different approaches are illustrated in the text boxes noted later. Survey methodologists have given much attention to the problems of formulating the actual questions that go into the survey questionnaire (cf. Fowler & Cosenza, Chapter 8). Problems of question wording, questionnaire flow, question context, and choice of response categories have been the focus of much attention. Much less attention has been directed at clarifying the problems
