NAFTA, ASEAN, APEC, MERCOSUR, CEEAC, IMF, World Bank and so on. Nowadays because of globalization there are large corporations like Apple, Gazprom and Allianz who rules the world and control the economic outcome with big organizations that are roled by influencial countries like China and USA. This essay is about criticism to IMF and World Bank. Critics of the World Bank and the IMF are concerned about the ‘conditionalities’ imposed on borrower countries. Often the conditionalities are attached without due regard for the borrower countries’ individual circumstances and the prescriptive recommendations by the World Bank and IMF fail to resolve the economic problems within the countries. As a example author is using Ecuador that is a small country in South America. In 1968- 1998 IMF and World Bank interviened with large loans to help the country but the growth of poverty increased form 50% to 70%,
Indirect tax- are levied on the production or sale of goods and services. They are included in the price paid by the final purchase. Business profits are generally taxed twice- After the company pays tax on its profits, the shareholders pay income tax on any dividends recieved from these profits. Progressive tax- people with higher incomes pay a higher rate of tax than people with lower incomes. Proportional- tax that is imposed at a fixed rate. Regressive tax- (direct taxes are usually) people with a lower income pay a proportionally greater part of their income than people with a higher income. Indirect taxes are slightly regressive- people with a lower income pay a proportionally greater part of their income than people with a higher income. Avoid tax on salarys? In the end there are exterior finishing, consists of weather shield, ventilation gap and lining boards. Internal walls are similar, but there are blasterboard on both sides what are also painted. Floors are important elements of house, because they must provide an accetable surface, sound and thermal insulation, and also carry and transfer imposed and dead loads. In my house is one ground floor what is made of pre cast concrete and upper floor what is made of timber. We chose a timber floor, because in private house is special sound insulation not required. The timber floor joist run wall to wall and the joists are bear on the wall. As we know the decking can be finished in different ways. We used PVC sheets in kitchen, parquet in living room and bedrooms and tiles in bathroom. We have different colours wood linings in every room.

A door just opened Emily Dickinson A door just opened on a street-- I, lost, was passing by-- An instant's width of warmth disclosed And wealth, and company. The door as sudden shut, and I, I, lost, was passing by,-- Lost doubly, but by contrast most, Enlightening misery. Emily Dickinson Emily Elizabeth Dickinson (December 10, 1830 May 15, 1886) was an American poet. Born in Amherst, Massachusetts, to a successful family with strong community ties, she lived a mostly introverted and reclusive life. Emily Dickinson, regarded as one of America's greatest poets, is also well known for her unusual life of self imposed social seclusion. Living a life of simplicity and seclusion, she yet wrote poetry of great power; questioning the nature of immortality and death, with at times an almost mantric quality. Her different lifestyle created an aura; often romanticised, and frequently a source of interest and specula...
The Internet and Social Order KAROLIN PETERSON The Internet is, as of today, a fairly unrestricted medium where all sorts of information can be published and accessed. Do I think there should be any restrictions and censorship imposed relating to inappropriate or potentially dangerous content that could pose a threat to public safety? In my opinion there shouldn't be any kind of information that could danger people available online e.g you can easily find instructions how to build a bomb (smoke bomb, atomic bomb) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rUakUPkbpU checking in online (e.g on facebook) shows where you are at the moment and that makes it easy for the burglars to know when you're away from home

The role of the free press Newspapers and magazines play an imoportant role in today's society and are capable of influencing people's lives in many ways. The new electronic media have become even more influential in shaping people's opinions, attitudes and behaviour. However, does the free press offer a valuable service, or is it, as American journalist, Edward Egglestone said, "organised gossip"? On a personal level, the media can be very entertaining and informative. Reading about the lifestyles of the rich and famous is amusing and can help people forget their own problems. However, journalists frequently intrude on the privacy of celebrities, following them and photographing them in their most intimate moments. This is surely an unacceptable interpretation of the word "free". As far as politics are concerned, the free press is important as it often reveals the...
Social Problems Crime In the sociological field, crime is the breach of a rule or law for which some governing authority or force may ultimately prescribe a punishment. The word crime originates from the Latin crimen. When society deems informal relationships and sanctions insufficient to create and maintain a desired social order, there may result more formalized systems of social control imposed by a government, or more broadly, by a State. With the institutional and legal machinery at their disposal, agents of the State can compel individuals to conform to behavioural codes and punish those that do not. Various mechanisms are employed to regulate behaviour, including rules codified into laws, policing people to ensure they comply with those laws, and other policies and practices designed to prevent crime. In addition are remedies

in the eyes of some citizens. Traffic · Tower Bridge is still a busy and vital crossing of the Thames: it is crossed by over 40,000 people (motorists and pedestrians) every day. · The bascules are raised around 1000 times a year. River traffic is now much reduced, but it still takes priority over road traffic. · In order to maintain the integrity of the historic structure, the City of London Corporation have imposed a 20 miles per hour (32 km/h) speed restriction, and an 18 tonne weight limit on vehicles using the bridge. A sophisticated camera system measures the speed of traffic crossing the bridge, utilising a number plate recognition system to send fixed penalty charges to speeding drivers. Questions?
Nõmme, in the south-west of the city. The first human steps, that archeologists found, are about 5000 years old. Tallinn`s first fortress was built in Toompea, in 1050. As an important port for trade between Russia and Scandinavia, it became a target for the expansion of the Teutonic Knights and the Kingdom of Denmark during the period of Northern Crusades in the beginning of the 13th century when Christianity was forcibly imposed on the local population. Danish rule of Tallinn and Northern Estonia started in 1219. In 1285 the city became the northernmost member of the Hanseatic League - a military alliance of German-dominated cities inNorthern Europe. The Danes sold Tallinn along with their other land possessions in northern Estonia to the Teutonic Knights in 1346. Medieval Tallinn enjoyed a strategic position at the crossroads of trade between Western and Northern Europe and Russia.

The colonists were told that if they did not generate any wealth, financial support for their efforts would end. Many of the men spent their days vainly searching for gold. As a consequence, the colonists spent little time farming. Food supplies dwindled. MALARIA and the harsh winter besieged the colonists, as well. After the first year, only 38 of the original 144 had survived. The colony may well have perished had it not been for the leadership of John Smith. He imposed strict discipline on the colonists. "Work or starve" was his motto, and each colonist was required to spend four hours per day farming. A new boatload of colonists and supplies sank off the coast of Bermuda on its way to help the hungry settlement. The winter of 1609-10, known as the "Starving Time," may have been the worst of all. Disease and hunger ravaged Jamestown. Two desperate colonists were tied to posts and left to starve as punishment for raiding the colonies' stores
Revolution, there were over 6,000 monasteries and convents in Tibet, and nearly all but a handful were ransacked and destroyed by the Red Guards, including Tibetan Red Guards.[134] [135] [136] A few monasteries have begun to rebuild since the 1980s (with limited support from the Chinese government) and greater religious freedom has been granted - although it is still limited. Monks returned to monasteries cross Tibet and monastic education resumed even though the number of monks imposed is strictly limited. The music of Tibet reflects the cultural heritage of the trans-Himalayan region, centered in Tibet but also known wherever ethnic Tibetan groups are found in India, Bhutan, Nepal and further abroad. First and foremost Tibetan music is religious music, reflecting the profound influence of Tibetan Buddhism on the culture.
caught fire. As Hammonds' diningroom was burning down we all decided to abandon cooking and have a drink. The next morning when I woke up I had to witness Hammond and James do their usual morning business. As you can imagine, a man pooping next to the drivers' seat and a man pooping in a rocketship was quite funny and at the same time disturbing. James and Hammond having wiped their bottoms we decided to go to a near by beauty site. As our lovely journey was coming to an end, I imposed on buying ourselves some ice cream. Getting down to the beach, eating my own cone and having some alone time with the filming guys, my attention was pointed to the cliff where we parked our motorhomes after I heard what sounded like a motorhome falling from a cliff noise. I soon came to a realization that Hammond and May had pushed my beautiful and extremely cool motorhome down the cliff simply because theirs were so far behind on the looks and well everything

The use of satire in Swift's A Modest Proposal According to Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary satire is a way of criticizing a person, an idea or an institution in which you use humor to show their faults or weaknesses; a piece of writing in that uses that type of criticism: political/social satire (1180). Jonathan Swift, one of the ambiguous and interesting figure of the Anglo-Irish Literary Tradition, the greatest pamphleteers, and a master of satire, denotes that 'Satire is a sort of glass wherein beholders do generally discover everybody's face but their own; which is the chief reason for that kind reception it meets with in the world, and that so very few are offended with it' (Swift). The current essay attempts to analyze the use of satire in Jonathan Swift's most discussed pamphlet A Modest Proposal and the purposes of using this specific genre. The pamphlet reveals a vast number of social and reli...

Culture- culture affects not only what dream is about but also how the dreamer thinks about it when she recalls it later on. In some societies including our own, dreams are generally dismissed as nonsensical fancies, irrelevant to real life. Dreams and internal conflict- according to Freud, dreams are product of an elaborate clash between two contending forces-unconscious primitive urges of our biological heritage and the civilizing constaints imposed by society. The disguise explains why dreams are so often odd and senseless. Senselessness is only on the surface, a cunning mask that lets us indulge in the unacceptable wish without realizing that iti is unacceptable. ' some distortions involve various transformations of the unacceptable themes, one is symbolism'. ( riding a horse and walking up a staircase refer to intercourse and passion ). Moreover, there are no students who have both breakfast and school lunch, eat more than four slices of brown bread per day, and avoid fat. Personal freedom is a concept the meaning of which depends on the context from which it arises and to which it applies. In other words, it is a concept without a fixed meaning. To most people, freedom means the absence of fetters or bondage, eg. having the power to act or to speak or to think without externally imposed restraints. One's childhood's dream of adulthood is the desire to be independent. One's adulthood's dream of childhood is the desire to be free from responsibility and enjoy a life without care. In each case, the dream of freedom is idealised. A child dreaming of being an adult wants the independence that the adult has but does not understand the responsibility that accompanies it

Charles Dickens Charles John Huffam Dickens was the foremost English novelist of the Victorian era, as well as a vigorous social campaigner. Considered one of the English language's greatest writers, he was acclaimed for his rich storytelling and memorable characters, and achieved massive worldwide popularity in his lifetime. Charles Dickens was born in Landport, Portsmouth in Hampshire, the second of eight children to John Dickens n 7 February 1812. The 12-year-old Dickens began working ten hour days in a Warren's boot-blacking factory. In May 1827, Dickens began work in the office of Ellis and Blackmore as a law clerk. At the age of seventeen, he became a court stenographer and, in 1830, met his first love, Maria Beadnell. Budapest to obtain an IMF/EU/World Bankarranged financial assistance package worth over $25 billion. The global economic downturn, declining exports, and low domestic consumption and fixed asset accumulation, dampened by government austerity measures, resulted in an economic contraction of 6.3% in 2009. In 2010 the new government implemented a number of changes including cutting business and personal income taxes, but imposed "crisis taxes" on financial institutions, energy and telecom companies, and retailers. The IMF/EU bailout program lapsed at the end of the year and was replaced by Post Program Monitoring and Article IV Consultations on overall economic and fiscal processes. The economy began to recover in 2010 with a big boost from exports, especially to Germany, and achieved growth of approximately 1.4% in 2011. At the
English was born/developed on the British Isles and therefore is different from other varieties, which have been introduced elsewhere. The English language in Great Britain was, at some point, strongly affected by invaders. Inner Circle People came and the new English speaking population outnumbered the local population. Outer Circle People whose mother tongue was English came, but the population of English speakers didn't outnumber the local population. Impose The word law can have several meanings, it can be divided into prescriptive and descriptive law. Descriptive law – describes the way people or natural phenomena behave, e. g. law of gravity Prescriptive law – prescribe how people ought to behave e.g. speed limits In all societies relations between people are regulated by prescriptive law; customs (informal rules of social and moral behaviour); rules we accept if we belong to a particular institution (religion, organization); laws imposed on people by a government Penalties for breaking the rules are different. For not following the customs there may not be a punishment, or a person may be criticized by the society; rules of a social institution tend to carry precise penalties but they are not enforceable by any political authority; however governments use a system of courts backed by the power of the police to enforce the laws they have made. The relations between people are regulated by a combination of all these rules.
management during the course of the project. •Even if a software process has been specified, it is not rigorously followed or enforced. The immature software organization is reactionary, and managers are usually focused on solving immediate crises (better known as fire fighting). •Schedules and budgets are routinely exceeded because they are not based on realistic estimates. When hard deadlines are imposed, product functionality and quality are often compromised to meet the schedule. •In an immature organization, there is no objective basis for judging product quality or for solving product or process problems. Therefore, product quality is difficult to predict. Activities intended to enhance quality such as review sand testing are often curtailed or eliminated when projects fall behind schedule.
source for prolonged input of oil components and contamination of the organisms. The use of dispersants very close to mariculture facilities is ill-advised since tainting by the chemical or by the dispersed oil droplets may result. An oil spill can cause loss of market confidence since the public may be unwilling to purchase marine products from the region irrespective of whether the seafood is actually tainted. Bans on the fishing and harvesting of marine products may be imposed following a spill, both to maintain market confidence and to protect fishing gear and catches from contamination. Contingency planning Because of the difficult decisions that will be required during an oil spill in order to mitigate damage and to resolve conflicts of interest, much can be done at the contingency planning stage to identify sensitive areas and to determine priorities for protection. (3) 2.13 Recent Developments The Roman Catholic People's Party came to power in 1959 and retained pluralities in the lower house in the elections of 1963 and 1967, but the government coalitions that the party formed in the 1960s proved unstable. Unrest in the Netherlands Antilles beset the government in 1969, and marines were dispatched to assist police in riot control. The inflation of the 1960s continued into the 1970s as a major political problem. Wage and price controls were imposed in 1970, and taxes increased in 1971. In the elections of 1971 the four-party governing coalition lost its majority, and after two months of efforts a coalition headed by the Anti-Revolutionary Party formed a government. This cabinet fell in 1972, however, and a caretaker government ruled until May 1973, when Joop den Uyl, leader of the Labor Party, was sworn in as prime 13 minister of a five-party coalition

On Christmas Day that year, the Norman leader, Duke William of Normandy, was crowned king of England. He is known in popular history as “William the Conqueror” and the date is remembered as the last time that England was successfully invaded. There was no such thing as a Norman area of settlement. Instead, the Norman soldiers who had invaded were given the ownership of land and of the people living on it. A strict feudal system was imposed. 12. Magna Carta. In 1215 King John was forced to sign the document, drawn up by the noblemen of England. It limited his power and extended the rights of his subjects. The Magna Carta is a well-known charter of personal and political liberty. Later, especially in the 17th century, the document was seen as a statement of basic civil rights. Four copies have survived. 13. The Wars of the Roses.
reform was a slow process. The reformers caused those in power some concern and were repressed by a series of measures. The Great Reform Act abolished many small towns - their seats being redistributed to form new towns. The Second Reform Act extended suffrage to all borough householders. Corrupt practices were eventually stopped by the Corrupt Practices Act, which was established as a result of public outcry from the findings of a Royal Commission. The Act imposed penalties for bribery and set maximums levels to be spent on electoral campaigns. The Third Reform Act gave votes to householders in counties. In the end of 19th century, women were drawn into a more active involvement of political arena. The Equal Franchise Act gave vote to all women over 21. *The Free Trade and Corn Law debates The Corn Law artificially raised the price of imported corn to keep it out of the British market. Various other corn laws had been imposed
William saw England as an extension of his French domains. He had all land divided into manors. Most manors contained a village. Great nobles, or barons, were given several manors (mostly in different parts of England) in return for a promise to serve him in war. They also had to give him part of the produce of the land. The barons gave some of their manors to knights (lesser nobles), who paid them for the land in the same way. That was the strict feudal system imposed by William: barons were directly responsible to the king, knights were responsible to a baron. Under the barons and knights were the peasantry, who were often little better than slaves. Over three quarters of the country people were serfs who were not free to leave their lord’s service or his land without permission. 45 William kept the Anglo-Saxon system of sheriffs, and used these as a balance to local nobles. He kept a fifth of the farmland to himself

English literature is one of the oldest literatures in Europe; dates back to the 6th century AD. Oral literature, i.e. not written down, spread from person to person. In 449 AD Anglo-‐Saxon tribes invaded England – beginning of the Anglo-‐Saxon period in English literature. The first form of literature was folklore, carried by scops and gleemen, who sang in alliterative verse (a kind of simple poetry). Prose developed much later. The first form of recorded English literature was the epic Beowulf, which was produced sometime near the end of the 7th and beginning of the 8th century. It has no ...
contains relatively little sulfur or sour if it contains substantial amounts of sulfur. The geographic location is important because it affects transportation costs to the refinery. Light crude oil is more desirable than heavy oil since it produces a higher yield of petrol, while sweet oil commands a higher price than sour oil because it has fewer environmental problems and requires less refining to meet sulfur standards imposed on fuels in consuming countries. Each crude oil has unique molecular characteristics which are understood by the use of crude oil assay analysis in petroleum laboratories. Barrels from an area in which the crude oil's molecular characteristics have been determined and the oil has been classified are used as pricing references throughout the world. Some of the common reference crudes are: West Texas Intermediate (WTI), a very high-quality, sweet, light oil delivered at
