They spend more time at the computers or laptops or iPads etc. than read books or move outside. And another thing is that teachers are less capable in using technological appliances. But the latter mentioned fact is an advantage for us teachers as well. It gives us an opportunity to provide our students to experience success. They can help and assist us if we need some technological help. Another thing is that in schools, in classes generally students are not allowed to use their appliances, so it means they have to communicate verbally as well. I think that teachers ...

Dear Mr Faraday, I am writing with reference to the article entitled ,, It´s a student´s life" which appeared in the magazine, English in action. Following a note from my friend, recommending that I should express my opinion with some of the views, which the article contained.. Firstly, I can definitely say that I have to disagree that student´s do not know the meaning of the word ,,work." As I am a student also, I know from personal experience that a large quantity of students have been in contact with work in some way or another. In some cases students have to earn their living simultaneously with their studies. Moreover you claimed that students do not contribute nothing to the society. In the student's defence I have to mention that, we are growing individuals, who develop to be the best contribution and enrichment to our country. So I think it is wrong to judge the book by it's covers. Secondly, it surely is not t...

Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing about the recent article in Tuesday’s edition of the Westvale Herald to express my disapproval of the Westvale Council’s decision to sell Longheath Park to a property developer. In my opinion, this is a really bad idea. Firstly, if the park is sold there will be no open spaces left. Therefore, children will not be able to play freely, and people will have nowhere to walk their dogs, ride their bicycles and so forth. What is more, there will be very few green areas in town. Obviously, this is very unhealthy, as people need fresh air and natural surroundings for good health. Finally, the town will be crowded and built up. This will mean that there will be more traffic and pollution, and the town will no longer be a nice place to live. To sum up, I think it is a terrible idea. I hope that the council will find a better way to deal with Longheath Park. Maybe they will fin...
Analysis of an article: ,,"Pealtnägija": Estonians hope to save the planet with meat substitute" (,,"Pealtnägija": eestlased loodavad asenduslihaga planeeti päästa") Getter Suup 03.05.2017 Impact: 8/10 I think that our eating habits and the future of them is an important topic. Since the number of humans living on planet Earth keeps rising, it is important to raise awarness on how the way we eat will affect (and affects) the planet that we're living on. Since the news were published in one of Estonia's biggest newspapers, Postimees, and also in a video format in ,,Pealtnägija", I believe that it will make hundreds of people to change the way they think and might-be even to consume less meat. Still, this topic probably does not have such a great imp...
USA Today Jõe tänav 1 7950 Jones Branch Drive Rapla 79520 McLean, VA 22108 Estonia USA 9th September 2009 Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing with regard to the article 'Txting away ur education' in The Forum column. I have to admit that I was truly inspired by it! I acknowledge the problem of students sending too many text messages and hardly paying any attention at school. First, I have to agree with the argument about declaring war on texting as a new way to be in contact with fellow students over the break, class or other activity. Also, it is important to point out the fact that, according to the Nielsen Co., teens over the country were in the year 2009 sending at least 80 texts a day on average...
29 September 2008 Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing to inform you that you have made many mistakes in the article 'Student Slaves at Workcamp'. I explain each of the mistakes below. Firstly, you described the camp as something extremely dreadful, although there was very fun and the atmosphere was great. Secondly, you claimed that at the camp were 30 students, but actually there were only 15 of us, maybe even less. The final point I want to make concerns accommodation. We did not spend the nights in old tents. All of us slept in modern, wooden buildings with many more showers than you claimed to be there. Could I please ask you to look into these matters. I would like to see correct information about the camp in the next issue. I look forward to hearing from you. Yours faithfully, Kaire Lusti

CHARACTERISTIC FEATURES OF OLD ENGLISH - 15 monophtongs, (7 long, 7 short, 1 central), 4 diphtongs, 17 consonants. Free variaton of R, and it was pronounced everywhere. Very much Germanic in character. Quite some special consonants that no longer exist. About morphology: synthetic with numerous aglutinating tendencies. System of tenses Germanic, but with a reduction of tenses. Paradigmatic leveling; Stress shift; Word order; Loan words (Old Norse, Old French). Dual pronouns. Determiners - no separate definite article. Strong and weak verbs. Word order relatively free with tendencies towards SVO. SVO, SOV, VSO most common. Adposition and podposition were both possible (eesliide ja tagaliide). About syntax: clauses were joined much simpler than nowadays, using and, then etc. Because of case syncretion the word order in a sentence became much more important to be able to tell the difference between words. EU Internal Market Law Mid-term online evaluation assignment for Distance Learning Students The Assignment: Hypothetical Case In the Member State A several NGOs, uniting parents concerned with safety of children and young adults, ordered a study of dog attacks on people (and especially children) resulting in deaths or maiming. The aim of the study was to identify, if possible, the dog breeds of potentially enhanced danger for people. The study’s results showed that pit bulls and their close mixes as well as Rottweilers and their close mixes were jointly responsible for over 70% of attacks. The authors of the study explained the statistics by popularity, big size and powerfulness of the named breeds and their ability to do a lot of damage. Besides, about the pit bull attacks the absence of warning from a dog played a significant role, because due to the custom of docking (cutting short) pit bulls’ tails warning signals could n...

Tallinn University Briti ja Ameerika kunst ja kultuur 20.-21. sajandil GRA6221 Course project: Street Art Viktoria Gumennaja 2018 INTRODUCTION "The city's the best gallery I could imagine." — JR I choose the topic for writing an essay - street art. Why did I choose this genre? Because for me it is something magical and special, not at all similar to those works that are in museums, at exhibitions and so on. Think for yourself, because street art began with the graffiti, and now we can see on the streets of our city just a work of art. I think graffiti, by the way, is also a great and invaluable work. Trends are changing. Now, young artists are moving from an endless unthinking tagging to a more conceptual and rich sense, abstract and volumetric work. Street art has become popular among the general public, becau...

Style The term style is a polysemantic one. The latin word ,,stilus" meant a writing instrument used by the ancients for writing on waxed tablets. Already, in classical latin the meaning of style was extended to denote the manner of expressing one's ideas in written or oral form. One of the abts/the best was given by Jonathan Swift: ,,Proper words in proper places." In present- day english, the world style is used in about half a dozen basic meanings. 1. the characteristic manner in which a writer expresses his ideas. Some speak about the style of Hemingway, Dickens etc. 2. the manner of expressing ideas, characteristic of a literary movement or period. Style of symbolism, romanticism 3. the use of language to pick a literary genre-comedy, novel, drama, O.D (poetic form) etc. 4. the selective use of language that depends on spheres of human activity fiction, scientific prose, newspape...
Does the Higgs Field do something? Dmitri Martila ([email protected]) Latter affiliation: Tartu University (Dated: September 16, 2016) Abstract Is studied the possibility to replace the Dark Matter and the Dark Energy with the single Higgs Field (or fields). The study in close direction was made in arXiv:1603.06242, and in “The Higgs Boson May Disintegrate into Dark Matter” (the Google News). Just because the physics is physical, then the Higgs Field do exist, do exist throughout the spacetime, and even acts on curvature of the spacetime even in the cosmic void (the places without the baryonic matter). In case of the places with the baryonic matter the Higgs Field emits the Higgs Boson to give the baryonic matter the right amount of mass: therefore the density of the Higgs Fie...

ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS Our environment is constantly changing. However, as our environment changes, so does the need to become increasingly aware of the problems that surround it. With a massive influx of natural disasters people need to be aware of what types of environmental problems our planet is facing. Current environmental problems make us vulnerable to disasters and tragedies, now and in the future. Unless we address the various issues seriously we are surely doomed for disaster. Current environmental problems require urgent attention. 1. Pollution: Pollution of air, water and soil require millions of years to recoup. Industry and motor vehicle exhaust are the number one pollutants. Heavy metals, nitrates and plastic are toxins responsible for pollution. English literature is one of the oldest literatures in Europe; dates back to the 6th century AD. Oral literature, i.e. not written down, spread from person to person. In 449 AD Anglo-‐Saxon tribes invaded England – beginning of the Anglo-‐Saxon period in English literature. The first form of literature was folklore, carried by scops and gleemen, who sang in alliterative verse (a kind of simple poetry). Prose developed much later. The first form of recorded English literature was the epic Beowulf, which was produced sometime near the end of the 7th and beginning of the 8th century. It has no ...
