Indian Summer Festival

Indian summer festival Indian Summer Festival is the brainchild of Butch Roberts, a Milwaukee Police Officer. In 1985, his dream was to have an American Indian Festival to add to the other ethnic festivals that were being held on the Summerfest grounds, Henry Maier Festival Park. Roberts recruited the Warren and DeNomie families to organize the event. These three families were instrumental in getting Indian Summer off the ground. It took two years of planning and organizational assistance from Irish Fest to kick off Indian Summer's first festival in 1987. The festival received a $5,000.00 grant from The Milwaukee Foundation and a cash loan from the Klumb family to provide funding for the first event. The first festival was a huge success. Over the last 24 years, Indian Summer Festival has maintained a strong position as one of Milwaukee's most popular and memorable ethnic festivals. And as Indian Natio...

Thanksgiving

The Pilgrims suffered a great deal during their first winter, because they were poorly equipped and poorly trained. One spring morning an Indian came and introduced him in a friendly way. The Indian chief offered assistance to the pilgrims and the Indians thought the Pilgrims how to hunt, fish, and grow food. Because of this help they had a good harvest every year. Governor William Bradford invited the Pilgrims and the Indians to share a Thanksgiving feast to strengthen the bond between them. They accepted. The celebration lasted 3 days. The holiday was a great success. Later, Thanksgiving was celebrated in all the colonies of New England. In 1863 President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed it a national thanksgiving. The modern Thanksgiving turkey is much like the ones hunted in Plymouth. Squash, corn, pumpkin pie and Indian pudding appear on the Thanksgiving table. Today Thanksgiving lasts for 4 days

Depression is a major symptom of this holiday season. For those who follow the precepts of Christian faith, this is supposed to be the most joyous of all holidays. It is supposed to be a holy day, one filled with peace and serenity, with memories and hope. A day when we renew our faith and strengthen ties with family and friends. Our society is guided by mass media and without a doubt, these media groups have changed the way we see Christmas and every other holiday. Finally, I would say that Christmas is always a time for love, joy and family. Everyone from the kids to the grandparents should be eager to give and to receive. During the war, the states had agreed to work together by sending representatives to a national congress. The agreement that set up this plan of cooperation was called the Articles of Confederation. The Articles of Confederation failed because the states did not cooperate with the Congress or with each other. The Congress had been given no authority to force any state to do anything. The Congress then asked each state to send delegates to a convention in Philadelphia to discuss the changes to strengthen the Articles of Confederation. The meeting, later known as the Constitutional Convention, began in May 1787. George Washington, the military hero of the War of Independence, was the presiding officer.

So long as the UNSC serves as a brake on the ability of the hegemon to perform such a role, P-5 unanimity, on which its successful functioning depends, remains vulnerable to unilateral action. Viewed from this perspective, concerns regarding the Council's legitimacy are a mere symptom of a more fundamental crisis afflicting the legitimacy of the broader collective security regime of which it is part. For those who wish to preserve and strengthen the existing regime, it is the UNSC's inability to constrain the hegemon which is at the root of the crisis; for those who believe that the hegemon should be afforded the exceptional exemption from the rules governing the use of force, it is this very constraining nature of the regime more generally which constitutes the crisis. At most it seems a vague and often suspiciously arbitrary composite of associations with other concepts,

Thus, blogs can enrich the learning experience and provide opportunity for learners to shift from surface to deeper levels of learning through critical reflection (Hanlon, 2009, pp. 34). By responding on blogs, people can get feedback from other audiences throughout cyberspace. Obviously during the process of formulating these responses to continue an electronic exchange of ideas with peers, students receive an opportunity to strengthen their critical thinking skills. Since the learner is exposed to many varying opinions, this in itself challenges the learner to step back and consider their own beliefs and the culture in which they exist. On uncovering multiple different opinions, and having their own challenged, there is more of a possibility in a shift in their own beliefs in comparison to just receiving feedback from a single source. And it is because of its leading position in Russian party politics, that United Russia does not have a strong need to negotiate with smaller parties. The fact that great amount of candidates seeking public office either at the federal or regional level have joined the party in order to maximize their electoral potential has also strengthen its strategic bargaining position (White 2011: 659). As a tool for the administration, the party may not have a noteworthy role in policy-making, nor does it yet fill the requirements in terms of chronological dominance, but it can be seen as a force for structuring the public policy agenda. Emotional pauses are introduced to draw attention to the word or phrase that follows and thus emphasize this word or phrase. The Middle Ages

Merchants & country gentlemen were anxious to influence the king's politics both at home & abroadin order to protect their interests. The alliance between esquires & merchants made Parliament more powerful & separated the Commons more & more from the Lords. Many European countries had the same kinds of Parliaments at this time, but in most cases these disappeared when feudalism died out. In England the death of feudalism helped to strengthen the House of Commons in Parliament. In 1363 Ed III appointed ,,justices of the peace" to deal with smaller crimes & offenses & to hold court 4 times a year. These JPs as they became known, were usually less important lords or members of the landed gentry. They were & still are chosen for their fairness & honesty. This made the middle classes still stronger. The JPs remained the only form of local government to the countryside until 1888. They still exist to deal with small offenses.

But rapid advances in areas such as environmental management accounting, valuation of intangible assets, and value reporting promise to make sustainability information useful to the financial community. With mounting pressures to strengthen corporate accountability in all its dimensions, the cross-over and convergence of sustainability and financial reporting looks increasingly evident and likely. Full integration in the form of single reports that depict performance along all dimensions—conventional financial, economic, environmental, and social—is already practised by a handful of leading companies. The gradual development of powerful towns was a notable feature of Dutch history during the 12th, 13th, and 14th centuries, and the area became an important trading centre. Under the leadership of wealthy merchants the towns began to challenge the power of the nobles who ruled the countryside. The merchants often supported the regional ruler in his campaigns against unruly vassals, at the same time exacting from him privileges designed to promote commerce and to strengthen the town and the position of the merchant class. (3) In the early Middle Ages such political entities as the counties of Flanders and Holland, the bishopric of Utrecht, and the duchies of Brabant and Gelderland were established. In the far north, however, the Frisians did not submit to a regional ruler but continued to obey their local headmen. The association of the Netherlands with the Holy Roman Empire remained largely nominal throughout the Middle Ages

PAUSES: Pauses are chief means of making one's speech emotional. Logical pauses divide the sentence into meaningful parts, which correspond to sense groups and are often marked in text by punctuation. Emotional pauses are introduced to draw attention to the word or phrase that follows and thus emphasize this word or phrase (e.g. "Do you mean to say that she is still / (a pause is marked) a virgin?"). Here the emotional pause corresponds to a dash and strengthen the speaker's disbelief (e.g. "She is so gentle so / gently cruel." there is no punctuation in the sentence but the pause occurs before "gently cruel" to emphasize the contradictory nature of the character expressed by two incompatible adjectives (case of oxymoron). Such pauses may be marked in a text and may be introduced by a speaker. STRESS: We can speak about logical stress it singles out words that are primary in the context (e.g. "I

... in more than a few cases, the result was a rickety, disjointed government, defenseless in the face of problems for which it nevertheless remains responsible to society, and whose credibility has been undermined by the ideological devaluation that accompanied reform. (Echebarría 2001: 2, on Latin America) The key to succesful PA reform, vital as it is not only, but also, for economic growth, as well as, if you will, for good governance, is to strengthen administrative capacity and competence of a responsive and responsible state. The optimal solution for this is a genuine post-post-NPM system, Weberian-based but with the lessons from NPM learned, which and this is not less right for being a cliché puts the human person into the center of administrative decision-making. And this is a Neo-Weberian State, with attention to the specific local reality, and with the final goal, as always, of the Good Life in the Good State

deputies. Of these, 13 were Estonians who formed a bloc with the Russian Constitutional Democrats' Party (cadets). Although the Duma was unable to solve the acute Baltic problems, it was nevertheless a means of making the Russian public and the world aware of them. The reaction brought along another wave of Russification which reached the Baltic countries in 1907. Encouraged by the new Russian Prime Minister Pyotr Stolypin, the government officials devised grand-scale plans to strengthen the central government and force the Russification of Estonians and Latvians -- even contemplating the colonisation of the whole region with Russian peasants. But the St Petersburg government lacked both the power and the time to realise these plans. By the early 20th century, Estonia had become one of the economically and culturally most advanced areas of the whole empire with grand-scale industrial and agricultural production orientated at all-Russian markets
