Environmental Issues and Sustainable Development in Estonia

Unfortunately, people do not always know how to take care of the things that are vital to our survivor but what we take for granted such as water, air and forests products. However, things have improved in recent years. What has been done to improve the environment in Estonia? People today are too lazy to think or to do something to protect the environment. They dump their waste into forests and even rivers which causes air and water pollution. Fortunately, people have come up with different organisations and events to help clean our envrionment. An annual event such as ,,Teeme ära!" motivates people to go out, spend time with friends and family and have fun while cleaning up the trash. This event first took place in 2008 and is now one of the biggest worldwide environmental events. Estonian Commission on Sustainable Development is one of the organisations that is working on improving the conditions of our country´s environment. This organisation focuses

However, new threats such as regional conflicts brought about by national and religious tensions arose in former Yugoslavia and some other part of the Soviet Union. These conflicts were a threat to others and therefore NATO set itself a new goal - to safeguard peace and stability in Europe. This caused a restructuring of the organisation and an establishment of new goals like crisis management, peacekeeping missions and defence liability. In addition to a few partners, cooperation with other organisations as the European Union (EU), the Organization for Security and Co- operation in Europe (OSCE), the United Nations (UN) and the World Health Organization (WHO) is very important. porpoises. Each year more than 10000 porpoises are killed in the seas around Britain. Fishingboats are using a technique witch consists in leaving the nets on the sea bed for several hours. When porpoises come to feed on the sea bed, they get caught in the nets and drown. There is a need for a research to make nets safer for porpoises. For example, one possibility would be to restrict the length of nets. This should be a duty of marine mammal organisations. Also should be limited the allowed amount of fish to be caught. This should be the duty of The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food. Naturally it is not possible to forbid fishing but some restrictions can surely be done. It is very important to maintain the balance in our seas. Every creature has its importance and we should protect them. Yours faithfully, Triin Engmann

How to make the world greener As the time goes on, people keep polluting the world more and more till the last decade or so when green living has reached a huge audience and a lot of organisations have been established aswell as a lot of online sites like greenerworld.com which help you save the environment. The main reason the global pollution has risen lately is because of the enormous growth in world population. Some scientists predict that we will reach ten billion people count by the year 2050, but who knows, maybe by then we have used up all the irrecoverable resources and have to move half the population to the moon and Mars to start contaminating them also

Conditions of the productive animals in farms

Conditions of the productive animals in farms.

The results from the investigation in Finland show that suffering animals are not an exception but a rule in Finnish animal production. Also this material shows that animal suffering is an inseparable part of the production- animals are seen as products and commodities instead of sentient beings. First step to aspire after the wellbeing of productive animals is to raise the awareness of people about how the farm animals are treated during the intense manufacturing. So people and organisations that have already realised the seriousness of this problem have set their sights on showing people that we should care about animals and we as consumers can help to solve the problem. Agriculturalists can treat animalt better and everyone of us can help by avoiding mass production. People who revealed the reality of Finnish factory farming have the attitude that everyone of us should have. They have said that sometimes we just cannot sit back and wait for somebody to do something

Inglise keele report: Animals in danger of extinction

Tortoises on the Galápagos have been hunted for their meat by sailors and fishermen to the point of extinction. Also, the habitat of the tortoises has been eaten away by goats introduced from the mainland. There have been several attempts to breed the last representative of the species with similar tortoise varieties, but none of the eggs hatched. On the other hand, there is hope for the successful conservation of rare animals. A number of different international organisations have the same goal and work hard to protect both endangered wildlife and natural habitats. a) The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) has been protecting nature for already more than 45 years. WWF works in 100 countries and is supported by 5 million members globally. b) Animal Rescue Facilities provide homes for animals in need. They are not being sold, transferred or used for breeding. microwave are devalueing traditional homemaking skills like cooking. A final example comes from the area of information technology. More facts about individuals are being stored in data banks, which may be accessed through networks of computers. This creates an everincreasing risk of accidental or deliberate leaking of private details. Every day more information is collected by banks, credit card companies, consumer organisations and so on and who is there to keep an eye on what happens to it? It is certainly convenient to store information in this way, but I feel it could lead to longterm problems. There may be other hidden dangers theoretically, could a 'thinking' computer start to use the data against us? To sum up, I believe that we must be very careful with technology. While it has clear advantages, there is also the danger that it could turn on us and we could find ourselves the victims of our own success

Pay-for performance: necessary or unsuitable way to increase efficiency in the public sector

make it more and more effective. With a “help” of New Public Management and its rationalism and managerialism public management and civil service has been influenced in many countries either voluntarily or under duress. Due to new public management public sector has become more like private sector putting emphasis on instruments that drives from its “culture”, designing public sector to become and act more like private sector organisations. From this influence is inspired the pay-for performance tool that in private sector is usually used with car salesmen or with other sale fields. In very simplistic way pay-for performance means that one is getting paid relating how well he works. In a more complicated way it refers to instrument that encourages civil servants to rise their work quality and performance, it rewards best officials based on their contribution and effort.

state independence. A Quest for Independence For centuries, the Estonian people dreamed of establishing a state free of foreign domination. The 1917 revolution and the generally unstable situation in Russia created the opportunity for Estonia to gain its independence. The impetus for independence was provided by the National Front, Estonia's main ideological movement, which based its ideas on US President Woodrow Wilson's principle of self-determination. On April 8, 1917, Estonian organisations and military personnel totalling 40 000 held a demonstration in Petrograd (St. Petersburg) in support of self-government of Estonia. The organised, peaceful demonstration achieved its goal when, on April 12, the Russian Provisional Government signed the Law on Estonian Autonomy, which united the Livonian counties of Tartu, Võru, Viljandi, Pärnu and Saaremaa with Estonia. For the first time an Estonian, Jaan Poska was appointed as a Provincial Commissioner of Estonia.

"Career and Employment" Homereading

"If you did a straw poll of the number of peoplewho think about changing career and those who actually do it, you'd be looking at less than 5 per cent. And yet it's never been easier. Portfolio careers are becoming normal and it's increasingly possible to make the change gradually by training part-time. One question I ask people is, 'What will happen if you don't do it?' The answer inevitably is that they will wish they had." There are plenty of organisations able to help people embark on their journey of career change. SMP Solutions is among them. Steve Preston, the director, says that while some people opt for one-to-one advice and support, others benefit from group workshops. "People are not very good at talking about themselves in a positive way and what happens in a group dynamic is that people point out others' strengths and potential ideas for careers. It works well."

Personali juhtimine ja organisatsiooni käitumine inglise keeles

In some cases the high rate of staff turnover and absenteeism are associated with the low level of organisational commitment. Sometimes, when organizational commitment is over-commitment it may cause neurotic compulsion to succeed, extreme high level of energy, overly loyal employees. On the other hand, when commitment is under-commitment it may cause fear of success or failure, chronic and persistent procrastination. Organisations whose members have higher levels of commitment show higher performance and productivity and lower levels of absenteeism and tardiness. This implies that employees with a high level of commitment tend to take greater efforts to perform and invest their resources in the organisation. Other positive effects of organisational commitment include feelings of affiliation, attachment and citizenship behaviour, which tend to improve organisational efficiency and effectiveness (Williams & Anderson)

-- almost all German and Estonian employees were replaced with Russians without knowledge of any other language. Getting a job in a government office became very difficult for non-Russians. Many educated Estonians were compelled to leave their country and seek work in Russia: by the early 20th century, several Estonian colonies had formed in Russian towns, the biggest being in St Petersburg. The central power tightened its censorship and control over both German and Estonian national organisations; some societies and newspapers were closed down. Besides the farmers' societies propagating innovative work and land cultivation methods, the authorities only allowed temperance, educational and fire brigade societies. By Russifying the Baltic peoples, the central power aimed to eliminate the dominating German influence in that area; prevent the separatism of the indigenous peoples and the Germanisation of their elite; replace the prevailing Western civilisation and Germanic culture

Scotland

Historical types subdivisions of Scotland include the mormaerdom, stewartry, earldom, burgh, parish, county and regions and districts. The names of these areas are still sometimes used as geographical descriptors. Modern Scotland is subdivided in various ways depending on the purpose. For local government, there have been 32 council areas since 1996, whose councils are unitary authorities responsible for the provision of all local government services. Community councils are informal organisations that represent specific sub- divisions of a council area. For the Scottish Parliament, there are 73 constituencies and eight regions. For the Parliament of the United Kingdom, there are 59 constituencies. The Scottish fire brigades and police forces are still based on the system of regions introduced in 1975. For healthcare and postal districts, and a number of other governmental and non-governmental organisations such as the churches, there are other long-standing methods of

business’ communication is at an international level. • Businesses also need to be aware that different cultures have different attitudes towards business. • Scandinavian countries such as Sweden emphasise social equality and therefore they tend to have a relatively flat organisational hierarchy. This relates to their informal approach to communication and cooperation normally at the heart of their organisations. In Japan, their traditional values of relative status and respect for seniority are reflected in their organisations and there is a very clear organisational structure. This means that senior management command respect at all times and expect a level of formality from junior members of their teams. • SOCIO-CULTURAL ASPECTS OF INTERNATIONALIZATION EESTI EKSPORDI AJALOOLINE ÜLEVAADE I vabariigi ajal said peamiseks ekspordiartikliks metsasaadused -

Referaat Printsess Dianast

Frances Ruth Shand Kydd Edward John Spencer Charity Starting in the mid - to late 1980s, the Princess of Wales became increasingly known for her support of numerous charities. Diana, however, developed an interest in serious illnesses and health-related matters outside the purview of traditional royal involvement, including AIDS and leprosy. In addition, the Princess patronised charities and organisations working with the homeless, youth, drug addicts and the elderly. From 1989, she was the President of Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children. Diana was mostly known, in the last year of her life, as the most visible supporter of the International Campaign to Ban Landmines, a campaign that went on to win the Nobel Peace Prize in 1997 after her death. In April 1987, the Princess of Wales was one of the first public figures to be photographed touching a person infected with HIV

information and communications technologies. Use of databases, communication systems, and foremost advanced computer software are crucial for the development of a modern cost-effective supply chain management. MANAGING THE GLOBAL SUPPLY CHAIN We live in interesting times. Powerful forces are re-shaping the global business scene: financial and economic upheaval in the Far East, Latin America & China is creating a tidal-wave of change in the competitive environment. Organisations that once felt insulated from overseas low-priced competitors now find that they too must not only continue to constantly create new value for customers, but must do so at a lower price. To meet the challenge of simultaneously reducing cost and enhancing customer value requires a radically different approach to the way the business responds to marketplace demand. One of the keys to success is the creation of an agile supply chain on a worldwide scale. The Agile Supply Chain:

This radio station was also one of the only means for people in Estonia to get information of the world beyond Soviet block. After Estonia gained it's independence once again on 20 August 1991, the English speaking countries were among the first to recognise Estonia as an independent country. For instance the United States reopened its Embassy in Tallinn on 4 September 1991. Estonia joined the United Nations and started the preparation to join other international organisations as the European Union and NATO. For this purpose much technical assistance from the US has arrived. For instance in recent years, the United States has supported the development of Estonia's Defense Forces with approximately 8 million dollars annually. This assistance led to the joining of Estonia with NATO on 29 March 2004. The English speaking countries are the leading force in the war against international terrorism
