I decided to read the book Jane Eyre. Jane Eyre was an orphan who lived with Mrs. Reed , her cruel, wealthy aunt . Only a servant named Bessie was gind to Jane, who told her stories and sang songs to her. One day, Jane’s cousin John Reed bullied Jane and Jane got mad. They were caught fighting and Jane aunt, imprisoned Jane into the red room , were Jane’s uncle had died. Jane was really scared of that room because, she believed that her uncle’s ghost was still in there . In the room Jane was screaming and so scared that she fainted. When she waked up, Mrs. Reed decided to send Jane to the Lowood School, Jane was also happy to leave. When Jane arrived to the school she found out that her life was better in her aunt house than in that school. The school’s headmaster was Mr. Brocklehurst, a cruel, hypocritical, and abusive man, who treated the students really bad. In school Jane found a friend named Helen Burns who was also at same age as Jane. In the winter Helen got sic and died. The epidemic also resulted in the departure of Mr. Brocklehurst by attracting attention to the insalubrious conditions at Lowood. Jane spent eight more years at Lowood, six as a student and two as a teacher . After teaching for two years, Jane accepted to be a governess at a manor called Thornfield , where she thought a French girl named Adele . The housekeeper Mrs. Fairfax did the housekeeping and told Jane about the hose and Rochester . Jane employer Rochester was a dark , impassioned man. After a while Jane found herself falling in love with him. One night Jane heard strange voices and discovered that Rochester’s room was in fire and saved his life. Rochester told Jane that the fire was started by a drunken servant named Grace Poole, but Jane did not believed him, because Grace continued working at Thomfield. One night Rochester brought home a very beautiful woman called Blanche Ingram and Jane got mad to Rochester. Jane thought that Rochester wanted to propose to Blanche, but instead Rochester proposed to Jane. Jane was overwhelmed by his offer , but instantly accepted. As the wedding day arrived Jane and Rochester prepared to say their vows, when Mason told Jane and Rochester that Rochester already had a wife . Jane was really devastated and run out of the church . Mason told that he was the brother of Rochester’s wife, and that his wife Bertha was still alive. Rochester did not denied Mason’s claims, but he explained that Bertha had gone mad. Rochester kept Bertha hidden on the third story of Thornfield and paid Grace Poole to keep his wife under control , who was really mad. Bertha had also caused the fire. Jane could not stand the fact that Rochester still had a wife and left the house. Jane did not have any money and had to sleep outdoors, where she almost died, fortunately three siblings Mary , Diana and John took her in. John was a clergyman, and he found Jane a job at a charity school in Morton . He surprised her one day by declaring that her uncle, John Eyre, had died and left her 20,000 pounds . Jane and John also found out that they where cousins. Jane decided to share her fortune with her three newfound relatives. Soon John decided to travel to India and asked Jane to come with him as his wife. Jane agreed going to India, but refused marring his cousin. One night Jane heard Rochester’s voice calling her name and decided to visit him and head back to the Thornfield. She found out that the Thornfield had burned down. She found out that Rochester’s wife died during the fire and Rochester lost his eyesight and one of his hands , saving the servants. Jane traveled to Rochester’s new residence , Ferndean, where he lived with two servants named John and Mary. At Ferndean Jane and Rochester got to together once again . At the end of the story Jane and Rochester married and had their first son. Rochester also regained sight in one eye.
I really enjoyed reading this book. It was always interesting and exiting. I think that the most exiting part of the book was, when Jane heard that Rochester had wife, who was greasy and the reason of the fire in Rochester’s room. I liked that it wasn’t just a blame love story, it was pretty different from the others . I also liked the century of the story when there were no phones and texting, when people still had to write to their loved ones.
