In the general prologue, where Chaucer described almost all of the characters, he satirized the values of that era. He found the fact that people were divided into social classes depending on the size of their fortune wrong. He pointed out that simple people who worked hard and earney their money themselves were much more honourable than people who lied to get it. He made fun on chivalry and Church and he had an innovative viewpoint on things.
